It works.
I just tested with a mouse

Thanks
Is there a OTG USB cable in the box or you need to buy one?

You need to buy one. but it's cheap anyway

It does not work on mine. Tried an USB OGT adapter and an adapter cable (both worked on my Xperia S) Tried Dualshock 3 (because of that native support thingy) USB Keyboard and USB Mouse. No reaction. Device is rooted but bootloader is locked and I have stock firmware on it.

can you check if this cable still work with your Xperia S? I've got my cable that worked with Xperia S and still work fine with z1

I tested it with an xbox 360 controller and it worked fine! The battery drain with it is ridiculous though!

I have two different OTG USB cables, with one it works fine with my ps3 controller, no reaction with the other cable. The one which works is a very short one, the not working cable is very long. But I don't thing the length is the reason.

i've got a feeling not all OTG cables work, i bought a generic one from amazon and when i try connecting a usb memory stick it says it has too much devices connected and i need to disconnect one for it to work. Has anyone bought one recently and it has worked, if so please provide a link if possible. thank you

I bought this one from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005FUNQXS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
It arrived yesterday and I plugged the PS3 controller into the phone and it recognised it straight away.
I don''t know if it works with USB Drives or not, I don't have any to test, but it worked fine for what I needed it for, and cheap too.

Thanks mate, I'll give that a go

Just tried the USB OTG clip that i used on my HTC One and it doesn't show up a simple memory card? Which is weird as it's still working on other devices.
Would be good to find out what the problem is, is it a missing pin ? Or just the grade of the kit, plus certain USB OTG cables / clips are working for certain things and not for others, so PS3 will connect but memory won't mount on some, some nothing works on and others everything works, would be an idea to get some clarity on what cables do everything.
I'll test a few more when i get home, just confused as to why this one i've got doesn't work.

USB OTG on stock rom issue.

Bought 2 USB OTG cable a few days ago but I've been unable to get it work. The moment I plug it into my HTC One, a "Unable to charge device. Please use the supported charger" error. 2 different USB OTG cables, same error. Bought at different times after I couldnt get the first cable to work.
I'm having the exact same issue... I have 2 cables which both work with my Nexus 7 without any problems what's so ever. Does anyone know if there is an "official" cable from HTC or is there some kind cable standard which has to be adhered to, so it works?
I just got a cheap usb otg cable from eBay, works fine for me. What size drives are you trying to mount?

The Stock Kernel doesnt support NTFS or ExFat... u have to format to FAT32 to get otg to work...
Maybe there will be a kernel with ntfs or exfat support someday...

There can be problem with your pen drive. Cause i had lived the same problem. My sd card works in pc but not in phone. I tried using my mouse or another disc with OTG cable and they worked.
The stock HTC kernel has a whitelist that module blocks OTG access when a certain limit is reached like required voltage by the accessory in order to work. Custom kernel now has this disabled so you might want to check that if you want. But if you prefer stock kernel I suggest you guys look for low powered USB drives instead. Cable alone won't have any issues at all with compatibility.
The main issues are the filesystem type & the electrical current required by the USB drive or any device you want to use for OTG.
The charger notification is a bug and might get fixed soon by HTC but it won't have any effects on OTG itself. It's just the kernel mistakenly identify the OTG device as a charging mechanism.
one from amazon, and 2 from ebay, worked great on my HTC ONE S... and samsung galaxy s3, on my HTC ONE, the freeze up, lock up, i dont even try it anymore.
yeh, i also get the charging thing error...
i believe the one i bought also said for google nexus... i use 32gb...

Ok, so what about charging phone while connecting something by otg? Is it works on non-stock kernels?

Without any usb thumbdrives attached to the otg cable, the moment I connect the otg to my One, the error pops up. Later connecting the thumb drive to the cable does nothing. Es file explorer does not detect nor does mount usb drive light up (remains greyed out).
Tried connecting the usb drive first and then connecting both to my phone and does detect either. So yeah, I guess might have to buy another usb drive ?
i had the same problem, but....
I was very dissapointed because my htc one could not find the otg usb! I started deleting almost all downloaded software from my device and cleared cash! Then restarted my phone and... Voila! It works! To be honest, i didn't find out the problem, but it works!

[Q] Connect USB Device to Nook HD+

So I'm currently running Carbon ROM B6 on my Nook HD+. I was hoping to connect a keyboard via USB to the Nook HD+. In order to do that, I figure I'd have to get a female to female USB adapter, and plug in the keyboard on one side, and the Nook in the other. Before I buy a female to female USB adapter, I figured I'd ask if this would even work. To take it one step further, could this work with any USB device at all, such as a mouse, flash drive, PC Xbox controller, etc?
It works on CM10. I am not sure if Carbon has that feature but USB adapter is only a couple of dollars.

I don't know, that depends on the electrical current it needs and reports to the host controller.
If a device is over that curent, the host controller will turn it off.
So if I buy a female-female adapter and plug in a usb stick I should to be to access the content i.e Movies?
Yes, but you need this apk installed on official cm builds.

Hi
I've downloaded this and tried it but my Nook HD+ doesn't seem to do anything different after I have enabled the program and plugged in a usb stick. I'm running a nightly build of CM11 if that makes any difference.
Then your USB stick needs a too high current, try it with an actively powered USB hub.
Check out http://www.zen24223.zen.co.uk/TPUSBUMount6.apk
The instructions are here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/33033-otg-usb-insufficient-available-bus-toolthingy/
plug in your usb device and "press fix insufficient power req" button. works like a charm for my ps3 controller, no usb hub in between the controller and nook required.

Anyone have luck connecting a controller through USB?

I tried connecting a PS3 controller through USB with no luck, it wouldn't recognize anything plugged it. Strange considering my USB flash drive works great with USB OTG on this device.
I was expecting plug and play. Anyone have any success connecting their controller?

As long as you use an otg adapter, the controller should work fine. My ps3 controller works wonderfully when I plug it in through a small otg cable....although the cable sometimes doesnt connect too well. Might just be a crappy cable.

Out of Box the R1 doesn't support OTG, there was a report of someone making it work with a powered hub. But BLU states no OTG.

Hi,
Mi used otg checker and it confirms that my rooted device supports otg. It did not say that before rooting. But still my device does not recognize otg.

As stated, the R1 does not support OTG. You can try a powered OTG hub, but your not going to get enough power from the USB port alone on the R1.
Hi Kal250,
Thanks for your reply. Please excuse my ignorance. What is a powered otg hub?
Can you please give an amazon link as a product example?
Your help is much appreciated. I understand that you are saying that it may/may not work. But I want to give it a try.

I can't verify that this will work, there was only one user who reported success using an adapter, though I can no longer find the post, anyhow you can give this a try, you will have to supply power with a charger cable, but I make no guarantee as to if it will work. BLUs official statement is no support for OTG. I'm not responsible if you damage your device(s)!!

I'll try it this weekend.
Holy crap, can confirm.
I first tried using this powered hub, as well as a powered usb otg cord (similar to this one), it read my generic usb stick, as well as a 500gb HD (well, sorta, it saw it but can't read ext4).. Then I tried just the otg cord, powered, and it worked. As long as it was getting external power, it seemed to work just fine.
Bare in mind, it "NEEDS" the powered OTG cord, running it without having a micro usb hooked up to power in and it didn't work at all, at least for me. Though you can run the hub without power, don't know why this is, but it was how it was acting.
Non drive testing:
It also sorta saw my Logitech F310. In that it pops up that it is disconnecting, but never shows up while connected (with gba.emu). A 360 controller did nothing.
Mouse and Keyboard worked just fine.
USB Audio seemed to not work, at least with my crappy Griffin iMic (think it is an apple device, I got it at goodwil). I also tried a Logitech usb speaker (not sure what model). No audio came though, thought the buttons worked (play/stop/volume/skip). All this with "Disable USB audio routing" not on (as well as on, just in case i was misreading it).
I also have a Pinnacle Systems AV to USB2 (old school rca video cables to usb) adapter I "could" check, however I know of no android app that can take that in. I do know it works with linux by default, ala V4L2, but android is a mystery. It does light up, but other then that no idea, looking through dmesg was a bust for me at least. Eh, nitch item anyways, doubt much here would use it.
Can't think of anything else to test at the moment, but I hope this helps you guys out a bit.
Tried the powered OTG cable and was able to mount a USB flash drive. I did not have to root my R1 HD to get this to work. The mounted drive did not show in ES Explorer or in Solid Explorer. But I can go to Settings -> Storage & USB and click on the mounted drive. That puts me in the system file explorer and I can copy files. (Do choose "Show SD Card" in the menu. Otherwise there are not many places to copy to.)
---------- Post added at 11:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:20 PM ----------
Following up: of course you have supply power to the microUSB port of the powered OTG cable. I tried supplying power from an AC adapter and from an external battery both worked.
Another note: to copy files from the USB flash drive to internal SD or external SD, click on the USB Drive (in Settings->Storage & USB) first, select some files. Then, navigate to the place where you want the copy. If you want to copy to the USB drive, then click on the internal or external SD card (in Settings->Storage & USB) and do the same thing.
I got OTG to work with a powered OTG cable but I couldn't get UVC to work
Has anybody else tried using a USB camera?

I bought a Blu R1 specifically to use in a pair of Gear-like VR goggles, as an FPV headset for quadcopter flight. I was hoping to wire (solder) a wireless receiver to a USB UVC stick, run Go FPV (split-screen Cardboard-like vid player), and power all with a 10k mAh power bank battery.
I'm hoping the UVC not working is just a case of a missing driver. Can you (moshiach101) load a webcam app from PlayStore and see if that installs drivers?

OK. I tried it with a USB wall-mount charger, USB-C micro in a brand new power OTG cable, with a Logitech V-U0007 webcam which was shown to work on a PC.
No dice. I conclude the Blu R1 HD does not support UVC via the USB port.
(and the phone is completely useless to me as I have a good phone and Sprint plan for the family already...)
Is there a way to add the UVC driver to the phone?
Is it part of the ROM, kernel?

It should be added by adding an app which needs it.
The UVC setup works with my HTC One M7. Not with the Blu, so I think this is a HW/FW limitation.

No dice (I just tried). Pretty sure it's an MTK processor, which doesn't do OTG, and probably why it's cheap enough to sell at this pricepoint.

Use a powered hub I have tried and it works for most devices (keyboards, mice, and USB drives), but for other devices such as an arduino, which is what I needed, use USB Host Diagnostics to install a patch.

Any working USB C OTG adapters?

Hi,
I was looking for a working USB-C OTG adapter for P9000, but
I couldn't find one that's 100% confirmed to work.
Also I was looking for any usb-C OTG powered connectors
(like USB micro Y cables) but again-did anyone had a thing like that
working with P9000?
Thanks in advance for replies.
My elephone connects to the PC fine with the stock cable
I am using this one OTG USB-C 3.0 . It worked perfectly with the Stock Rom (USB Stcisk, USB Mous and Keyboard)
I am having real problems with getting OTG to work - have tried various adapters and managed to get my phone to read from a few USB memory sticks however I cannot copy anything from my phone to the stick!
I have tired re-formatting to FAT32 via the phone but no joys. Using stock ROM.
Any ideas?
I´m using this one. Works well with all kind of thumb drives. I haven`t tested any keyboards yet.
@blade954: Try another filemanager - such as rootexplorer or esexplorer. Had some same trouble on my old xperia Z.
Trust USB-C to USB3.1 CONVERTER also works for me.
