ADB issues. Hangs on < waiting for device > - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm trying to flash the Google Play Edition RUU on my device. I have S-Off. When I try to read my CID, it says < waiting for device > and gets no further. I completely deleted my sdk and reinstalled it because I had read sometime this would be caused by needing to update your sdk. It does the same thing when I try to writecid. Does anyone know why it would hang like this when trying to read or write my CID. I'm running ARHD 13.3 with TWRP (don't know what version number) if that would have anything to do with this.
EDIT: Something else I noticed that may or may not be relevant. When I reboot into the bootloader, my computer says device not recognized.

Try using this guide.
Seems you don't have the driver installed.
However, did you try fastboot command in fastboot?

To use fastboot you need to
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
To use adb you need to be in recovery or live in the os.

I tried what that guide said prior to posting this thread. However, upon re-reading it, I think I have discovered my issue. My laptop only has USB 3.0 ports, and they said they could not get it to work over USB 3.0. I will set up the SDK on my wife's computer and use a USB 2.0 port and see if that resolves the issue. I'll investigate to see if what I'm trying to accomplish can be done on ChromeOS too, cause I'd rather use my Chromebook than take over my wife's computer.

To use ADB with USB 3.0 ports, follow this guide first. Once you finish reinstalling your usb 3.0 drivers with this guide ABD will work properly! :good:

Yeah, I've got an Asus G75VX. Four USB 3.0 ports and a Thunderbolt port, but if I have a device that doesn't play nicely with them I'm SOL.

Thanks everyone for your help! My phone now thinks its a Google Play Edition!

Hi, Yes of course, its a great guide and i did excatly whay they said to my laptop, and i could make it work only for a few minutes, after that the system freezed ( i.e no applications were opening and the system couldn't perform any operation other than right click and left click, couldn't turn off the system even and couldn't open the task manager too ) ,luckily before the system freezed, i quickly changed the kernel of my phone. Then I had no other go other than reverting the USB settings to Microsoft driver.

revolutionary stuck on "Waiting for device"

I currently have hboot 1.13
When i type "Fastboot devices" It comes up with my phone connected, just revolutionary won't pick it up.
Help please?
Thanks
Here's a good place to start.
You probably have HTC Sync installed. Uninstall it and instal only drivers from Revolutionary documentation page.
You really think I haven't googled it before making a thread?
Also I don't have htc sync installed.
Uninstall all which is connected to HTC and their drivers, reboot your PC, install drivers pack, try different USB hub. If all that doesn't work definitely try with another PC.

You'd be surprised how many people don't google before asking. My bad.
It's been a while since I used revolutionary, but I don't think you need to be in fastboot mode. Boot the phone normally and check USB debugging. This may have not turned up in a google search, but I'm pretty sure its mentioned in the..... Instructions.... On their website...
Edit: btw the first hit in the link ZaySk provided pretty much covers every issue you could have while using revolutionary.

I think that revolutionary needs a working rom and a phone booted. For fasboot are only drivers needed, but I recommend to connect phone in fastboot mode just to install drivers, not causing a PC reboot requirement. After the drivers are installed just boot up the phone, connect to PC and run revolutionary.

So its directly related to USB 3.0.
"sigh" gotta pull out my old windows laptop then
Mac is basically linux, and from my experience with linux, you need to configure some stuff in order to get things working, i'm on the phone right now so i don't have a link to share but i recommend looking online.for.a tutorial to build AOSP from source on linux or MAC, there you will.find the steps needed to set up your USB configuration, ignore the rest after the config or.what is not needed.
Hope this helps.

My laptop only has USB 3.0 ports. I could get HTC sync to work fine, but the PC wouldn't recognize the phone when in the bootloader. I was struggling to find an answer until I came across this blog and this worked flawlessly. The problem is with the Microsoft USB 3 host controller. This method replaces 2 Microsoft drivers with Intel drivers.

Follow this to a T. It does require rebooting the PC to disable driver signing, so make sure you bookmark the link to go back to it after you rebooted. If this helps you, just press the thanks button!

[Q] Rooting w/o USB connection

Hi, guys! I have a really big problem :/. Right now I'm using the stock 2.3.4 gingerbread from LG ,but you all know that this is the worst OS ever. I wanted to get rid of it but i cant connect my device to the computer. It's only charging. I need a way to root it w/o usb connection. Do u have any suggestions? It's not a software problem! Something inside the phone is broken and i don't know what it is. Is there a way to root it via bluetooth or SD card? I didn't find any apps to root it too. I know gingerbreak etc, but they dont work for 2.3.4. Thank you in advance and i hope there is a solution. :fingers-crossed:
I am afraid you can't. Replacing your micro usb port could solve your problem. I reccomend to buy a micro usb port which is already on the flexible cable so you can avoid ironing.

So i'll need this? I asked a staff member in a service station and he said that the port isnt broken. So i need the whole thing port+flexible cable? Is that what i should do? Thanks alot. stupid question: did you try another usb cable or usb port?
Yeah, dude. Of course. I've tried different settings like usb debugging on/off too but still nothing.
here are some articles you might want to check out regarding usb connection

i forgot how the mass storage settings in gingerbread look like but there should be an option to put the phone in "charge only" mode (which you should disable)... pressing menu key in settings > storage doesn't give you any options to choose?
In gingerbread you can only turn usb mass storage and usb debugging on/off. These settings didn't help. I'll read more about the first link you gave me and try it out.

This is quite challenge, root without usb connection. First idea I got to use ADB over WiFi, but this is available from ICS, not on GB.
Second idea - what I remember, some of root methods use APK installation over ADB by script. Maybe you can search for these script methods and place all required files on SD Card. Then try to execute commands by terminal on device itself to install and root.
It's just my idea, maybe wrong, maybe help.

if you read the 1st post, you might find out how could it help you... especially if you use win 8 which caused problems for many other users when trying to install the drivers or trying to flash the phone...
I - Install APX (NVFlash Recovery) Drivers if not already installed.
It starts the windows device driver wizard to help you install the drivers needed for NVFlash. It detects your system OS and gives additional on-screen instructions needed if your PC is running Windows 8.
FYI: The drivers are located under ToolKitFiles\nvflash\driver folder.

u said that u wanted to get rid of the lg gingerbread software, and for that u dont really need to root, u could use the all in one toolkit and flash the new unlocked bootloader with cwm or twrp and install the new bootloader rom u want its as easy as that

Impossible fastboot drivers.

I've seen the other posts people have made and guides around here, but none of them work for me. I've had no problems installing the drivers on any of my other computers, just my new desktop. I'm running the same version of windows 8 on my old laptop and it works. Same drivers, same OS install disk.
I'm posting here as a last resort, I've tried probably 99% of every guide on the forum, and google.
I can't for the life of me get fastboot to work. ADB works fine, fastboot just will not work.
I have usb 3.0, and usb 2.0, I've been trying both and neither of them will work. I've tried using multiple different usb ports, I have 4 usb 3.0, and 3 different usb 2.0.
I've disabled signature verification to install the drivers, but it acts like it uninstalls it and installs it's own drivers again.
Then it says the last usb devices malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.
I'm uninstalled reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled. I've tried some "all in one" driver packs that people put together, but fastboot refuses to work.
I'm running windows 8 64bit.
Any ideas?

Yes, It works with my other computer so it's not my phone, or the way I'm doing it.

Did you check in device manager which drivers are installed, if they're the same as your other computer. I don't use Windows 8, so won't be of much help to you.
Good luck

Yeah I've been manually uninstalling, and installing the drivers I want. It acts like the usb is crashing and going back to square one.

Any ideas?

hi mate i had this same issue tried all sorts, various guides etc which non of them worked. in the end i did find a guide that got it working. my problem was that intel usb 3.0 aren't compatible whatseover you need to uninstall them and install some new modified drivers. this is a known problem with windows 8 64 and intel 3.0. it also does stop fastboot from working with your usb 2.0 ports. have a look for the guide, i will also try to dig it up and ill post back if i find it.
edit: go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256359 you will see that im post #2. this was the only thing that fixed my problem. follow it to the letter and im sure it will work.

I guess I'll try that again when I get home. It didn't seem to work last time. (I had to reinstall my OS because something else was weird.)
Thanks
