[Q] Kingo Android Root possible? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Theres a new one click root solution floating around called Kingo Android Root. The website states it works on all version up to & including 4.3. It also includes a good number of sammy devices in its supported list. Im wondering if it will work for the ATT note 3 which doesnt have a root solution yet. Im willing to guinea pig it when I get my device but was just wondering if anyone happened to try it on a different version?

If the bootloader is locked it isn't going to work until an exploit is found.

Looking into it on other forums its said to be working on several bootloader locked phones specifically the xperia z. I dont see how the bootloader would affect it as its not tryingnto install recovery or anything other then granting superuser access.

This root method works on the S4 with locked boot loader. Of we can't get recovery at least root access for ROM tool box will be nice.

I wonder if you can disable or force stop knox through the app manager and then try to do it. Hopefully mine gets here today so I can mess around with it. I live like 2 blocks away from an AT&T store if something goes wrong haha

My plans are to add a reboot toggle and the 1% battery mod. I already saw Dan's root method for Jb but I kept running into errors. When I got to adb shell near the last step no matter what I tried it would tell me no directory of that name so I might wait until a one click root shows up. Shouldn't be long now that we actually have a root method.

Way to root I537UCUBMI2

I just flashed I537UCUBMI2, this is the first 4.3 for i537, but I found I can't root it! I can't remove the AT&T software and add Chinese language.
I was just want to give up, lucky, I use one Chinese software called “ROOT大师”, you can just search "VRoot" with Google. Now my phone is rooted, and I have removed all the annoying software.
Good luck.
Can you provide a link for this root method and a tutorial on how you used it? This way there is no confusion for anyone. I for one would appreciate it because I've been on mf1 for months now and have wanted to flash the mi2 leak but I've been waiting patiently for root.

Sorry to reply late, because I am in China.
I will show you the steps in brief.
1. Just flash leaked I537UCUBMI2
2. Go to setting, enable the USB debug. Just like other Android 4.X phone, I noticed we should tick always enable to connect to this computer.
3. Install the "root master", this is a Chinese software, maybe something can't display correctly in non-Unicode computers.
Software download:
REMOVED
After install this software, open this software, connect your phone to your computer, maybe need to install some drivers.
4. Just simply click "一键ROOT", the green button, the phone will restart 2 times, and after that, your phone is rooted.
After your Phone is rooted. The software will show:"三星I537已经拥有ROOT权限“
Sorry, because I cannot post pictures. Just follow the steps, you can make it.
Thanks for replying. I've got everything downloaded and I will try tomorrow after I get off of work. Thanks again.

Be wary of these Chinese root methods. They are known to collect your IMEI number which is not needed for a rooting process. Therefore XDA has not allowed any links to their software at this time.l

Thanks for the heads up. I figured something wasnt right about this. When i searched for this root method every site that i had found was in Chinese which made me start to think about it. Another thing that makes me wonder is that we have had this leak for awhile now and no one else has had success with root and then out of nowhere this pops up. Plus the op doesn't have very many posts here on xda. In going to play it safe and wait on something else.

Rooted anyway. 4.3 is much faster than 4.2.2. Samsung keyboard is better but still doesn't match up to real Swype imo. Battery life is remarkably better. 22 hr 40 mins with 23%. 2 hr 43 mins screen on time. Always died on me before. Seems more stable overall but watchon is broken for me.

Actually piracy is not the most important thing for me. May be this software will collect IMEI or other information, but I think they will not do anything bad, the built-in software is more annoying for me.

I saw a post from Chainfire indicating he was releasing auto-roots for a bunch of variants today(he didn't mention which ones but I've got my fingers crossed). Apparently the current bottleneck is Sammy's crappy d/l servers.
Looks like no dice with Chainfire, at least for now. https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/JVxv5298wdU
Apparently he needs the recovery extracted from the firmware. I checked sammobile.com for our firmware and they haven't put it out yet. I sure hope they do.

You can't usually dump the recovery partition without having root...usually a custom recovery is needed...hence he needs the firmware which contains the recovery partition.

CF root likely won't work if the ATT BL is locked, but the only definitive way to check is to get the firmware and extract the recovery, send it to CF and have him package something up and then have someone flash with Odin, if the BL is locked, then it will either fail to flash, fail to boot, or worse, also once you flash anything not deemed official you trip the knox warranty flag and your without a warranty..

I don't see the model number listed there. I wonder if someone just got overzealous with adding S5 variant model numbers and corrected it.

Loki is an instance of being able to use a custom recovery w/o unlocked BL. Coming from an i337, you begin to assume boot loader unlock isn't likely.

did SRSRoot install the SuperSU if so check your settings "Application Manager" in settings, if SuperSU is installed as a user app it will be listed in the "Downloaded" section if it is installed as a system app it will be in the"All" section.
or run a file explorer like esfile explorer that will allow you to view the /system/app folder (you cant write to it but you can still read from it) check and see if Supuser.apk exists in /system/app, if it does that means that at some point the srsroot app is gaining R/W access to system.

there might not be any other way; after all, 5.0 encrypts your entire phone, so one could assume the bootloader has to be locked for that to happen..

Thanks brother. I thought I seen a couple people having trouble after the update.

Just be sure to read the posts about s-health and private mode. If you can, don't use s-health until after you root and if you plan on using it, disable secure storage in wanam. Otherwise you're going to get some annoying lag.
Also if you're going to flash a custom ROM and want to use the fingerprint scanner, make sure you use the scanner on the stock ROM first. Folks are having issues on custom ROMs if they've never used the scanner beforehand.
