Why on earth would you need 3GB? A Nexus device doesn't need that much, because the OS is lightweight without any additional BS. If you use your phone properly and don't let unnecessary stuff to run in the background, then 2GB is more than enough.

To be honest, I think these forums were a bit premature. The XDA staff should've waited until it was officially announced, these forums are filled with speculation threads and spam.

they had to do something otherwise the n4 forum would be filled with n5 threads

2GB is more than enough - it's (hopefully) going to be a good budget phone as well just like the N4.

Man this thread is worthless..one can only tell 100% true specs about a damn phone which isn't even't released when one holds in in their hands or if it has been announced.
iPhone 6 has 2GB Ram.

Never say any amount is too much, Bill Gates will never live the quote down of no-one needing more than 640k 3GB would let you run more apps at once and give games more breathing room, so while it might not be needed yet it would certainly extend the usable life of the phone.

In my opinion 2gb of RAM is more than enough. At least for now, of course. I never kill apps and have never had full RAM.

You guys seem to be missing the point. He's not complaining that the N5 has only 2GB, he's letting XDA mods know that there's something wrong with the listed forum specs (unless the phone actually ships with 3GB).
All the knee-jerk responses of "2GB is more than enough" is amusing.

And we have a winner.
"Tell em what he's won Johnny."
"Well, our lucky contestant has won an all-expenses paid trip to Mountain View, California to visit the Google complex, a new Nexus 9 prototype that has over 9000gb of RAM, a brand new Google-Glass cornea implant because why do we even need hardware anymore, a new 3-wheeled Reliant Robin and a giant burlap sack with a $ sign on the side (meaning it is full of money)."
All prizes are subject to verification and void in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Like Harvey and KC said above, it will be fixed once the "Actual" specs are out on Oct 15.

Nexus 7 32GB price rumors

Alright, so, I know manufacturers are going to upgrade their products, that's just progress. However, if they're doing that after 3-4 months, and doubling its storage for the same price, it seems a little bit unfair for the people that made the decision to purchase the product during launch.
I suppose I'm wondering others thoughts on this. Am I expecting too much from these manufacturers?

If you're willing to root there are plenty of tools like Stickmount, that enable pendrive storage, even for running games. A 16 GB USB drive costs peanuts.
The next big thing is always around the corner, I don't stress it.
Looks to be more expensive..

Latest info suggest otherwise...I'm more interested in the rumoured $99 N7.
http://androidandme.com/2012/10/tab...-to-retail-for-same-price-as-old-16-gb-model/
Oh well. Doesn't matter to me anyway.. I'm more than happy with my 16gb and $25 Google play store credits.. Best tech purchase I've made in awhile..
Please discuss further here Rumor: 32GB Nexus 7?

Will the 32gb be fixed of the defects and flaws?

I sent my third N7 back today. This time for a refund instead of a replacement, since clearly that was going nowhere (what a wasted four weeks).
Anyway, the iPad Mini should be announced tomorrow, and the 32gb Nexus is already guaranteed.
I know it's impossible to say what the iPad Mini will be like, but I'm still assuming the Nexus will be better for me. I prefer Android, the build quality is superb (besides about eighty million manufacturing flaws), it does everything I want, etc.
So now that I've got my $250 back (minus shipping...), is it safe to buy the 32gb Nexus 7 after it gets announced?
There's no WAY Google/Asus could begin production of another model without working out the flaws of the previous ones, right?
Right, guys?
oh god please say that's right.
Do you know my most secret, terrible fear?
...I'm afraid that the 32gb Nexus 7's will be only partly new, with the rest of them just being used and returned N7's with the SSD replaced. I mean, Asus must have SO many, right? They've got 3 from me alone, sitting on a shelf, used, unable to be sold like "new" again... unless they're refurbished, fitted with more memory, and resold... oh god that's so terrifying.
Dude, there are 4 threads on the first page alone relating to the 32GB version that this could have been posted in instead of clogging up the first page with redundant thread topics.
To answer your question. No one can answer your question.
Anything that is mass produced on the level of these products is bound to have defects. No one can say for sure if it will have defects or not. Last I saw there is about 3 million of them sold. So at a 1% defect rate that is 30k units with a defect. Seems like a lot, but not when you consider total sold. I would venture to say the defect rate is probably closer to a half a percent.
What flaws? All mine are fine...
Sounds like a troll or a drama queen....

Mentioning an iPad is okay, if its in relation to the Nexus 7, such as a comparison
There are already a couple threads discussing the 32GB N7, please just use one of those.

Yes, we all have the same feeling, the Nexus 7 is a fine piece of hardware and it was indeed worth every penny I paid for it, I'm too grown up to care what other people pay for theirs..
I just wish I had known there was a 32gb coming considering I bought my N7 a month ago. I need more space than 13gb of usable memory, that's like 5 hd games.
I think this is part of the reason behind the Google Play $25 credit honestly, so really I only paid $225

Glad I waited, just bought the 16GB.
-Brought to you by Marino's Galaxy Nexus-
What bothers me is that the resell value was slashed. I mean if you bought a 16gb for $250+tax, you could probably resell it for $225 on top of all of initial offerings we've gotten from Google. Now it is $199, you'd be lucky to get $175 for it. Plus with the upgraded memory people aren't going to want the 16gb so you'll have to practically give it away.
Oh well. Life is full of surprises. They should have just came out with a 16/32gb unit out of the gate and stop screwing around with 8gb. Memory is so cheap now-a-days that it is pathetic that we allow manufactures keep us in this rut. I mean I had 16gb CF in my old Dell x51v Windows 5.0 "palmtop" haha. Honestly units SHOULD be coming in as 32/64gb these days... or even 64/128gb.
Media consumption is getting deeper and deeper. With games using 4gb each, 8/16gb just don't cut it without sacrifice.
Full agree on that post. But ive learned my lesson, i will wait at least till Christmas to get a Nexus 4 and closely watch the rumors.

I will second that. I do not regret paying full price for mine. That's always the price you pay for buying tech. It gets cheaper and specs always improve. Give it a few more months and there will be something better and cheaper on the market, that I have no doubt.
If your happy to pay the price when you did, then where's the problem.

ive got a 16gb one and have all my music and books in the cloud,im from uk its not only usa who get cloud ,overall im happy with what ive got and hardly touch my s2(32gb) anymore apart from calls and im due an s3 mid november that will be wasted in my pocket
im stuck
I sold my 16gb nexus 7 to my roommate because 16gb was to small for me and i want to buy the 32 gb version
But i also want the nexus 10 or the new chrome book as a replacement for my Transformer prime
the Transformer prime is ok especially for what i do (I use it for school/occasionally web surfing) but it has no real upside. it still lags, and slows down for no reason.
Anyone have any ideas what should i do?
Im thinking nexus 7 and probably the chromebook, its got the same processor and ram.
I'm being philosophical about this.
I bought the 16GB version three months ago so I've certainly had my money's worth.
Wife seems disinterested in having my N7 to make way for a 32GB upgrade and then Google announces the N4 16GB and I need to upgrade from my HD2 anyway.
Wife needs to upgrade her phone, too, so she can have the HD2.
My N7 still has about 6GB free space and that's with a lot of apps and stuff which would usually be on my phone.
Once I've bought the N4 and moved a lot of apps and stuff over to that there will be sufficient room on the N7 for my needs.
Plus there's still OTG and Drop Box ... Or VPN to my own local server ..

How did Google Manage to Mess up the launch this Badly?

Well, I for one did not expect Google to mess up this bad.
They run the biggest Data centers and networks in the world.
And they can't manage to have a good system for Ordering/Shipping phones?
I might just send them an email asking them why they don't purchase a small company that deals with shipping/orders.
They might as well do that as it will save them in the future.
About two Weeks late bro
Yeah I know, I just never got around to making this thread.
I read on another forum that even after the second launch they were still blown away by how many people were still purchasing the n4. I think they were just unprepared and should've waited for the others to receive their phones from the 13th.
Perhaps this really the way they had planned it to go. All the publicity, the rarety bringing prices up.
At this point I find it hard to believe that most of us all knew oy would be big which is why we waited all night, etc. There is no way they could not know.
In the end this may turn out very well as long as they get any issues sorted quickly.
I read an article today that apple is releasing a $200 iPhone to compete with Google. Go figure, Google is changing everything!

I think you don't understand with over 100 million android users even if like 3-4 % decide they want this phone that's 4 million orders. Even the best servers in the world can't handle millions of people hitting a site and mashing F5.

I think it was all very last minute, the phones probably weren't even being made until the final month to launch, probably why there are shortage and build quality issues. LG are probably all hands on deck right now and maybe the cheap price Google are selling them at is slowing things down as LG and carriers are not happy?
Who knows but Google has the money to jut pay them to keep making.

If I were Google, based on previous experience I'm not surprised .
Nexus s didn't sell that well, galaxy nexus as well, so even taking both numbers in to the account its probably not even half what is being sold when it comes to nexus 4
And like someone said earlier. 2-4 % out of some few hundred million people its a hell of a lot of orders .
Look at apple they practically have the same problems after every new iPhone. Their webpage is damn slow ,yes it still works but it rather unusable .
Talk in to account that searching is less data hungry than purchasing. All purchasing has to be verified with banks, checked on server if everything is valid etc oh and it has to go through SSL

1. What was wrong with posting in one of the 15 other threads of this nature? Its one of the rules to search before you post. You didn't. reported for rule breaking and spamming the forum.
2. Only ppl who didn't get the phone and have a veruca salt complex care.
3. You have no idea how to run a company at all. I doubt you can barely keep your basement dwelling clean, let alone tell google how they should do business. Especially when the phone is sold out ...Twice.....Seems they are doing just fine.
And
4. Whats super retarded is that if they never would have sold out / had any issues the same ppl would have created "Google fail" threads because they couldn't even sell out the flagship device.

THIS! Was just about to post the same exact thing, if you keep waiting around and listening to all the rumors you'll be stuck with the phone you have now forever!
The iPhone 5S was already obsolete on features 2 years before they released the thing, And I can confidently say the iPhone 6 is already outdated because we all know they give you nothing unless they already developed a way to massively overcharge for it.
I just had to waste my time to reply. Every piece of tech is obsolete the second it come out but at least I'm not holding on to an even older complaining about a better phone and thank god I'm not waiting for the iPhone 6, which has been under development so long I can't possibly imagine how it can stand up to the note 4 or s6. Lol trolls are so dumb.

LOL!!! EVERY iphone has been 2 years obsolete when they are released.. That's like their entire mantra because it makes the Jobs-knob-hobbing rubes foam at the mouth for the next big feature that will be obsolete when it comes out. Case-in-point.. the OG iphone was EDGE, not 3G - only a total MORON would design a web-centric, data-intensive phone to use one of the worst data networks in the country.. The 3G was 3G but didn't have video capabilities (which were standard on every other phone released for AT LEAST two years prior), you had to buy the 3GS. It's all part of the marketing scheme.
You see, in a securely guarded vault deep inside apple headquarters is the ultimate iphone that was designed late in 2005. It is IP99 certified, has a 4.8" 8K parallax 3D screen, 512GB of internal storage, dual 3D 4K cameras, a removable extended battery with NFC and Qi, dual SD card slots, yadda yadda yadda. They took that model and stripped it all down to barebones, and released it as the OG iphone. They're simply adding a couple features back each year and releasing "the NEW IPHONE", which makes all the fanboys jizz their collective pants as they line up like idiots to pay the ridiculously inflated price for it.
