Will the 32gb be fixed of the defects and flaws? - Nexus 7 General

I sent my third N7 back today. This time for a refund instead of a replacement, since clearly that was going nowhere (what a wasted four weeks).
Anyway, the iPad Mini should be announced tomorrow, and the 32gb Nexus is already guaranteed.
I know it's impossible to say what the iPad Mini will be like, but I'm still assuming the Nexus will be better for me. I prefer Android, the build quality is superb (besides about eighty million manufacturing flaws), it does everything I want, etc.
So now that I've got my $250 back (minus shipping...), is it safe to buy the 32gb Nexus 7 after it gets announced?
There's no WAY Google/Asus could begin production of another model without working out the flaws of the previous ones, right?
Right, guys?
oh god please say that's right.
Do you know my most secret, terrible fear?
...I'm afraid that the 32gb Nexus 7's will be only partly new, with the rest of them just being used and returned N7's with the SSD replaced. I mean, Asus must have SO many, right? They've got 3 from me alone, sitting on a shelf, used, unable to be sold like "new" again... unless they're refurbished, fitted with more memory, and resold... oh god that's so terrifying.

Dude, there are 4 threads on the first page alone relating to the 32GB version that this could have been posted in instead of clogging up the first page with redundant thread topics.
To answer your question. No one can answer your question.

Anything that is mass produced on the level of these products is bound to have defects. No one can say for sure if it will have defects or not. Last I saw there is about 3 million of them sold. So at a 1% defect rate that is 30k units with a defect. Seems like a lot, but not when you consider total sold. I would venture to say the defect rate is probably closer to a half a percent.

What flaws? All mine are fine...
Sounds like a troll or a drama queen....

Its an electronics forum, this is the Nexus 7 "SECTION"
Mentioning an iPad is okay, if its in relation to the Nexus 7, such as a comparison

There are already a couple threads discussing the 32GB N7, please just use one of those.

16gb nexus 7 discontinued?

Well I was stupid and pre-ordered from Wal-Mart.com. My order status stated it would arrive today but that it hadn't shipped yet. I called their customer service and they said they had to cancel my order because my item has been discontinued from the distributor. Called gamestop and they said that not only are they out but they were told today they weren't getting anymore...anyone else heard this?

Definitely NOT discontinued. Supply issues certainly, but not discontinued.

Google were shocked by demand, they though it would be like the iPod touch where the cheapest model sold the most- they got the opposite.
Sounds like they're tired of answering questions at Gamestop.

I heard Asus is refusing to make anymore until those that have suggested it would have been better to have Samsung or Motorola make them instead, apologize..
In other news, it could be a national holiday in China, like it was during the long wait for the Notion Ink Adam, where employees agreed to continue working during New Years celebrations instead of going on their yearly vacation to see their families. Perhaps this time they see no benefit and refuse to skip theirs..
Second wave 8/30 or still waiting on the SD (street date) of 8/05?
NOTE: I called my Gamestop, they didn't have any, she offered to look in the computer to see which stores nearby had them in stock. Went to one and exchanged mine on the spot.
My Gamestop called me today to tell me my replacement came in.
I also ordered from Wallmart and checked on my order yesterday they said that it was ready to ship today. Than today I get a email and was told that they could not ship it yet. This was after they told me that they had them!

Yeah, I think at the price point more people went straight for the 16GB. I know I did, I didn't even consider the 8GB.
Honestly though with either model and an OTG cable and a little root work, storage isn't really a limiting factor at all. People who really want an N7 and can find a 8GB now should scoop one up.

LOL :silly:
It's not discontinued as mentioned, probably just temporarily out of stock. In Sweden we seem to only get the 16GB version sometime during September. I would have been fine with the 8GB but it doesn't really matter to me either in price or storage.
They might have stopped to address the screen and creaking issues. That's just a guess though.

I stopped by a GS the other day to see if they had any accessories for the n7, they didn't, but when i Asked them if they had any n7's the employee told me you had to have preordered one to get one and they wouldn't be getting more.
Doesn't mean Google isn't making more' just means GameStop won't be selling them.

Even if they halted distribution, there's no way it's being discontinued. I really doubt that any Walmart rep has his or her finger on the pulse, and the Gamestop guy only said that they were expecting shipments but now they're not.
It is possible that Google wants to put a hold on things until they reign in the build quality.

I don't think it takes much to be a 3rd party seller. Either way, I don't think the company will completely rip you off. I think the scam is selling cheap case made to look a lot better than they are by planting fake reviews.

i returned a $6 kindle fire case with keyboard because it was some knockoff of what the pictures stated (it was missing the spring hinge to hold it in place, the stitching was just for show and the glue was around coming off within 24 hrs) - issue resolved very quickly with little hassle

Yes. I don't think a company is going to commit total fraud on a $5 item. But, it's quite obvious they're planting phoney reviews. If they're shipping cases for $5 including the shipping and making a profit, I wouldn't expect too much when it arrives.

The price seems way too good to be true.
I'm beginning to suspect that companies price these kinds of items insanely low at first, get tons of buyers, then get tons of awesome reviews, then they jack up the price and ride the positive reviews straight to profit (see the blurex magyc case as an example). In other words, pays to get in early on these deals (except I won't because I want an easy rotating case, not Velcro reattachment stuff).

This is the reply I got from the seller:
Hi dear customer,
Thank you for your email and concern. We are sorry for the misunderstanding and confusion about those product reviews. In fact, we usually produce around 100 samples for each new item before start producing large quantity. Especially for the tablet cases, we have confirm the case is perfectly fit the tablet. Those product reviews are the reviewers who received our sample in 2-3 weeks ago.
Thank you for your referral and patience for this back order. Please contact us at any time if you have any questions when you receive the case.
Thank you for your time and have a nice weekend

3RD Batch of Production is there such a thing and how can we decrypt the S/N ?

38%
Guys I wanted to ask after reading the forum for a while. Its seems like many of the initial Pre-orders suffered a majority of the defects. At least mine. 8GB from staples I purchased 2 days ago seems perfect (knock on wood) How can we tell if there are different "batches" or production runs. Some people are even reporting of Nexus 7's made by Samsung.
So whats the story?
Lola @ Nexus made by Samsung. People say anything they want to say
Nexus 7 is made by Asus and they would continue to make it. Don't you see the Asus branding on the box? It only say that it is made for Google Play and does not say made by Google. If Google want Samsung to make a tablet for them then it won't be Nexus 7.

I did see 8 gb version on their website the other day.

Theory as to why LG is constantly out of stock, and why Google made a bad decision.

I have a theory as to why the Nexus 4 is out of stock, and for such a long time. This may or may not have been mentioned before (probably has) but I just wish to discuss it. Remember, this is purely speculation.
The reason LG has only made around 400,000 handsets and starved production was due to their own flagship, the LG Optimus G. Every single thing about this phone, is IDENTICAL to the Nexus 4, besides the fact the N4 is rocking stock stock android and the aesthetics are slightly different. The N4 has an advantage among the developer community with it being able to be torn apart and tweaked and tinkered with, unlike the OG which LG is still being a little b____ about the bootloader on many of their recent phones.
The 16GB LG Optimus G is $800 here in Australia, and the 16GB Nexus 4 is $400. You do the math.
I don't know if LG's actuaries are idiots or something, but they would have known about the guaranteed success of the next Nexus device, going on the sales figures of all the other devices. LG thought that making a tiny amount of profit on every Nexus device and in turn increasing their companies reputation in the mobile business, was worse than not making ANY profit on their CRAPBOX 3000 (LG Optimus G). I can see where they are coming from, as they don't want their spectacular flagship to be left in the dust with full stock, but zero sales so basically I think they were just chucking a cry or something.
SO DON'T HATE ON GOOGLE FOR THE LACK OF NEXUS'
What you can hate Google for, is choosing LG in the first place. Yeah, they may of felt generous and were trying to support them but at the cost of their own company getting hated? Why didn't they just buy LG like they did with Motorola, and that would be the end of it? When I heard of the new Nexus Device, I celebrating because for some reason I thought they were going to choose HTC for production (who knows why). Nek minnit, they choose some struggling company that either can't or won't keep up with production.
This may of looked like a run-out-of-the-mill rant, but this was some, high-quality, researched ranting skills to pay the bills.
Discuss.

I fail to see how you guys can always come up with such gossip.
Google has made contracts with LG and they are producing the amount Google demanded.
Whether it was Google ordering just a tiny amount of phones, or LG can't keep up with production, due to manufacturing errors or anything else, we will never know.
Also, LG is not a bad hardware manufacturer. They do have the capability to spit out hundreds of thousand devices a month, and they've proven that they can.
For your info: devices produced in October: 75k
Devices produced in December: 400k
As you can see, they can definitely keep up with the demand, it's probably just Google ordering only tiny amounts of it.
A contract breach, as in simply not delivering the amount of phones Google demanded, would have legal consequences for them, so I guess they will be thinking twice before hampering the production.
Cheers.
Lg has good hardware? Hmmmm...i don't know. Have you hold Lg L9 or L7, its a pure piece of ****. Quality zero. Maybe they build good displays and parts, but housing of every device is ****y. TVs also.

Lol, do you think "hundreds of thousands of devices a month" is anywhere near enough for a $600 phone priced at $350? Try several millions a month.
Oh and those production numbers were just speculation (albeit a logical one). No one knows the exact numbers.
Why does everyone blame LG? Is there a valid excuse for Samsung taking forever to restock the Nexus 10?

Yes, 400k might not be enough. But don't expect the nexus to sell like the iPhone or a Samsung galaxy. There simply is no marketing at all for the nexus. Companies like Apple and Samsung invest millions every year into marketing. Have you ever seen a nexus 4 ad other than on YouTube?
Probably not. The nexus' demographic is mostly tech enthusiasts.
I don't think LG is intentionally halting the manufacturing process, i mean they would be really stupid to do so, some of of you seem to forget that one of the biggests ways to sell is having quantity over price, if LG sells 5 million Nexus 4 that would make them a ton more money than selling 1 million Optimus G  , also it doesn't hurt that a lot more people are talking good stuff (regarding quality) about them, that could never hurt a company .
What LG did on purpose (in my opinion) was refusing to provide a 32 gb version of the phone , so if people want more storage (and LTE) they should buy the Optimus G

In the USA however, there is 0 ads on TV for the Nexus 4, there are some for the Nexus 7 but NEVER has there been one for the Nexus 4 or 10. Not even in the newspaper other than reviews and such mentioning it. Maybe that's why they don't however as they've already got tons of (positive) press here. In general, you advertise to get your name out there and build brand, once you are out there and everyone knows your name you tend to save those ad dollars.

wowowowow. This is unbelievable. Prep to fight the iPhone which will also be $199 I assume. How can anyone pass this up? I mean the only disadvantage is it's almost a year old and no LTE but for this price. WOW.
Yep. Just saw this. 199 and 249 for 8 and 16 GB. Brilliant price for the phone!

I don't think LTE works on AT&T right? Only t-mobile. If it does damn I have to figure that out since I have an LTE sim card already inside it.

AFAIK it only works with T-Mobile and Canadian carriers.
Getting ready for the next nexus phone!!!
I'm one device away from making my Nexus complete. Hope I can do it this time.
Hoping it is for the new Nexus. Kinda killed my resale value though.
Omg i can't believe it. One of the most competitive smartphones on the market for $200...
N4, PA+Franco
Why do this when most people don't even know what a nexus is at least advertise it so apple doesnt get all the shine next month

I'm really tempted by this deal. I mean, it's the same price I got the original 32GB Nexus 7 for, and the phone is great overall. But, I kind of want to wait for the Nexus 5 just because it may offer better specs. It's just so hard to pass this deal up because it's being sold at such an amazing price.
Am I the only one in this predicament?

Are you happy with your current phone? If so, wait for the Nexus 4 (2013).
(Side note: Why does everyone insist on calling the next Nexus phone the Nexus 5? The number refers to the screen size, not the iteration; observe "Nexus 7 (2013)" instead of "Nexus 8", and with Google having stuck to the same phone screen size for 2 generations straight and then reaffirmed their affinity for this screen size with the Moto X, I'm pretty sure that the next Nexus won't be 5", and it won't be called the Nexus 5.)
Even if you decide at that point that you'd still want a N4 instead of a N4-2013, the market at that point will be flooded by people selling their N4s as they upgrade to N4-2013s.

Ooo please don't go there, we're all sick of those naming discussions that lead to nowhere, every f-ing thread is spammed with that stupid debate.

I just wish other OEMs would follow suit with such low off contract prices.
Looking at you Moto X.
I'm actually really sad about this. I was in the works for trading my phone for a note 2 to try the screen size. The other party just gave me the finger I hope this means a new nexus will debut soon I've had this phone the longest of all my phones 9 month and now I'm starting to get that new smartphone itch.
