[Q] (white balance) the Z1's screen is too yellow..can anyone do a white balance ? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

like early xperia ZL's whtie balance change into XPERIA Z, Does anyone else do a white balance for me ? thank u very much~!!! : )

Have you got the optimised backlight option on in your display settings? I've noticed this makes the screen slightly yellow, try turning this off.

There is no white balance setting for z1 as of yet but try an app called Screen Adjuster from the Play Store. It is free and lets you set the colors of the screen to your liking. If you increase blue color to +5 the yellow hue will be gone.

Strange Display issue
Hi Guys,
Needed your expert advice or information on what is going on with my screen. From past 4 days, i have noticed a bluish green vertical line starting at about 1 cm from left side of screen starting from top and ending approximately 3/4 to bottom end. Surprising is that, this bluish green vertical line is not seen on the screenshots when viewed in laptop. So i captured the images using a camera. Attached both screenshots and captured images.
The phone was running on 14.1.G.1.XXX firmware when noticed. I Upgraded the firmware to 14.1.G.2.XXX but still have the same problem. Serial number starts with BH904xxxx.

Notifications

Since the Z won't have a notification LED (or have I missed anything here) and no touchable buttons will there be any way of knowing whether a notification is there without waking the device? For example making the screen light every minute or something?

Are you sure this is a notification led? I've an xperia s and that led only turn on when charger is plugged-in and it switch from red (in charge) to green (full charge). So I think this is not a notification led but I hope it is because it's very important for me

I don't have Xperia S I only had up to Xperia Pro which is a 2011 device. But even if it only lights up on charging that's still called a notification led because it notifies you of your charging status. Although I can't confirm if it works also on messages, calls, emails etc. Your best bet is asking someone who has access to the device already.
And yeah... I'm not sure about this but I think I remember sometime in the past that there was a notification light issue on the ICS update of some Xperia devices. Perhaps you're encountering that issue now.
Edit:
Here's a link of the said bug.

Now.. the question in.. goes LightFlow or similar aps for LED notification work well?
And also.. I've read it's not multicolored.. I can leave with that. OneX was like that.

The One X has 2 colours also, but is not RGB... anyway I've read elsewhere that it is RBG, so I'm happy.

Xperia S and T both had multicoloured LEDs, why on earth would Sony take a step back and not give the Z the same?

if put extra protector on pre-installed one from sony that might be because of that.
if not i should say i didn see anything like this on any phones! (my experience)
and cause it has high density of pixel i must not have any effect or react on straight sun-light !!!
can u send pic ?

If u mean those colorful dots
SO it s not normal ask sony for replacement.
However u must not have any effect and reflect and ... on screen with high density of pixel.
It is completely normal, it's part of the touchscreen digitizer. It's visible on almost all phones under strong light. I could see it on my S, Arc (S) and Neo too.

Creating a white theme is a massive task as you need to invert all the dark apps, and that is a lot.
On any given ROM the majority are using a dark theme. You only have to look at the work @steveboss has done inverting the white apps and the time he has spent doing so.
If your bootloader is unlocked try MIUI, they like it nice and white.
One other thing, if you use a white theme, be prepared for your battery to get the s&*t kicked out of it.

Is that so? LT25 has an LCD screen, not OLED.
thats not really true, what dully posted there, also with a light theme you can use your phone with a lower screenbrightness than with a dark theme, thats my observations.
so no, not more battery drain with light theme...im using light themed rom since many weeks

Yep. Especially outdoors a screen using a bright design remains better readable with lower brightness settings. The screen is by far the biggest user of battery power. With power considerations in mind a white screen is the best, except for OLED screens.

The brighter the screen, the more power required to produce the brilliant whites which means the more power consumed.
I can testify to this after using a dark theme i switched to a light theme to improve sunlight legibility and my battery suffered so i switched back.
Either way i don't care, it's your phone, your battery, do what you want with it.:good:
I think the LCD backlight is always on, regardless black or white, and the LCD blocks the light for black pixels.
... and therefore the black screen even uses a few electrons more electricity. Unless it is an OLED.
And that's what immerblind wanted to say. I add we can reduce the brightness level by using a white theme. Just go outside and read a black screen with white font, and then switch to a black font screen. 10 - 20 % lower display brightness is possible, much better than any battery app with there best feature being the marketing.
And Tide washes even whiter than white!

note 4 screen gradually turned a pinkish hue

while surfing the web looking at a white backround my note 4 turned a pinkish hue within a couple seconds... has this ever happend to anyone? does disabling auto adjust screen tone solve the problem?

Whoa! Never had THAT happen. Ouch that looks hirrid. I've had a slight pink/purple hue but in direct sunlight doesn't look nearly as that bad tho wow. I spoke to Samsung for 40 minuite yesterday and they don't think it's normal. They did give me a solution which I tried and seemed to work with the little bit of sun I had yesterday before it went down. Today I will check good got my ticket # so I would be calling back to Note 4 Techs
It's happened to me a a few times, but only with Chrome browser. If I move to another app or go home it goes away.
Idk I might just keep mine. It isn't nearly as bad as the pics I've seen. It's sliiight and only in white color. Every single one else has very good color.
Sent from another Galaxy! Note the difference!
When I'm outside, with direct sunlight shining on the screen, the screen turns really bright with pink hues. I've tested it a few times, and it only happens when I have it on auto brightness and the screen is facing the sun. Turning off auto brightness solves the problem, so I think it has something to do with software, should I be worried?
If their tech support doesn't think it's normal, geez, I'd go to the store, try to duplicate the problem there, have them see if they can duplicate the issue with another phone there and if it doesn't do it, exchange the darn thing.

This is feature. It allow you to read screen in direct sunlight. I have read that is increase brightnes from little over 400 cd/m2 to over 700 cd/m2. It only works in auto brightnes mode.

I suspect it is doing this on purpose as darekz said. It's probably boosting the brightness of only the red and green subpixels, which causes the pink tint. The blue subpixels don't get boosted since it would further shorten their already short lifespan. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED#Disadvantages
