Red Led at start - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I tought I do a backup in cwm.
Always when I start the phone now, first the red LED lights on and then follows the purple LED with Recovery.
All works fine like before, no issues.
But whats the reason for the red LED?

well
before rooting and having recovery
there is no Red LED light up
so i would guess that the led light up for the reason to indicate when to press the Vol up/down button at start to enter recovery
I dont reboot to recovery
only boot/reboot and then press up/down (dual recovery) to enter recovery service
with out the red LED, might miss the window to enter recovery and overshoot to normal startup

It isn't that light for recovery.
The red light came after I did the nand backup. Before the backup it wasn't there. This is what I think is strange.
For the recovery is it purple light.
And how I wrote, I works normally yet. Only this red light at the beggining... Maybe I can do this evening a short clip to show it.

Hey mate.
I know it seems weird but this is the norm now that you've customised your phone. Don't worry about it. It's not a bad thing, just what will happen by default now.
Couldn't tell you why exactly though. Maybe one of the devs could.

[Q] Stuck in aroma, holding power for 15+ seconds doesn't work

Was attempting to install busybox through recovery ( from here).
The installer is based on aroma I believe and it froze during install. I see this is a common issue. Regardless, I was going to reattempt the install but I cannot get the phone to reboot. From what I've read, holding the power button for 15+ seconds should do a hard reboot. The capacitive button lights start blinking like they should but no matter how long I hold power, the phone won't reboot.
Do I need to wait for the battery to completely drain or should there be another way to force it out of this state?
Thanks
If it's plugged in unplug it, and make sure you're only holding power and not any other key until it reboots
Keep trying

You are the second person another user yesterday was stuck at the white htc boot screen and could not get it to power down or reset. Wonder if there is some kind of issue here

Thanks. It isn't plugged in. Been trying this for about an hour now, sometimes holding power for over 2 minutes. The lights keep blinking as long as I hold the button. They stop after I release it.
Looks like I'll have to play the waiting game

Yep. Just checked on the person from yesterday and after it died he was able to get into recovery and then fix it. So it's something weird
Here is the thread not much info though but he had to let it die
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247888
Also it resets around the 15 blink of the capacitive buttons so if it's blinking 30 times something is not right wait for it to die

Thanks for the link, didn't spot that one. I guess I'm having the same issue. I don't mind having a non-removable battery but it's unfortunate in this case. The screen is staying on so I hope the battery runs out earlier rather than later.
Try to push the Button several times and then hold it, or hold Power +vlm down ans release ans push vol again.. helped me many times i think... dont give up..
I tried just about every combination but nothing worked. On a positive note, the battery died and I was able to boot normally once again. No issues since.
Next time press and hold both volume up, down and the power button

I'm pretty sure I tried that because I read it somewhere else but if it does happen again, I'll make sure to double check.
Thanks

Oh ok..I just know thats what used on my One X and someone here said that it worked on the One as well.
When I got stuck in Aroma while installing Android Revolution, I just held the power button for awhile and it rebooted itself

Well, another one to add. Stuck in Aroma, and Hard combinations doesn't work. TRIED ALL OF THEM.
Was stressing over, plugged the phone in, launched the ALL-IN-ONE, clicked the reboot command.
I thought the Hard button combination was hardware : that is now proven wrong. Ugh.

Adb reboot always works. Had to do it twice already to get out of aroma.
Hard combinations only work sometimes sadly.

Doesn't work for me, it used to but since I've been trying to install Trickdroid 5.3.0 nothing works for me so I have to let the battery die, very irritating.

I know it sounds weird, but there's reports that shining at light at the sensors and/or working in a very bright room seems to help with the soft reset procedure. I have no idea why and it sounded like coincidence to me, but what do you have to lose? lol
I also faced the hanging aroma problem and holdon the power button for a long period of time (15 seconds) worjed for me the firs time i tried, the second time it bad some problems, but i kept pressing the power button.for 15 seconds and it finally turned off.
Hoep this helps.

I tried everything what was mentioned here, the only thing that I haven't done was pressing the power button in bright light conditions, so that was the last thing that I could try. I can confirm, it's working

Phone not responding to ANYTHING (screen off)

Hey everyone, i have kind of a big problem. Yesterday i rooted my phone. Fot S-off and everything not problem. Flashed Slim Bean rom and i was a happy camper. Went to work and phone was working fine. Hours later, i tried to unlock my phone by pressing the power button and nothing happened. i tried holding the power button to make the phone shutdown and the keys lit up and kept on blinking but nothing happened. I tried calling the phone and from another line and although on the other phone it sounds like its one, my one wont ring or anything. I got home and tried to fastboot reboot but the damn thing is not on debugging mode apparently, so it just says waiting for device. I need HELP ASAP!!!!!! Thanks in advanced!
If the buttons blink, keep holding the power button until they stop blinking (this will take over 10 seconds!). That will force a hard reboot.

Hold the phone directly over a bright light and try to reboot. I can't explain why this procedure works but it did for me and several others. Just make sure the light is shining on the two sensors on the top left corner of the phone.

The phone uses the light sensor to make sure the phone isn't in your pocket or some other place and isn't getting reset by accident.

Be very careful flashing AOSP based roms. There have been several users reporting "bricks" while using these roms. Both a solution and a cause are unclear.

If the buttons are flashing, I would consider that a response.

Camera purple tint issue

I read the entire thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317507&page=25, but nobody could confirm that it's a software or a hardware issue. And HTC is not sure too. Can anybody please confirm? Does everyone have purple tint issue in low light?

From what i can tell its a software issue and supposedly adjusting ISO levels and different modes can help with the problem.

Yes that was what I initially thought, but after pondering, I realized that then it just doesn't explain why some devices don't have this issue in same setting. Maybe most, since it's mostly people with the issue who post.

Set to be lower the ISO is not a solution.
It is not possible to take pictures in low light conditions.
>you'll be able to quickly shoot vivid, true-to-life images with a wide range of colors, even in low light conditions.

This is a large lie.
HTC should announce this issue.
Hopefully this works for everyone else because I have officially fixed this issue on my Verizon One. Wait for it... Reboot into recovery and wipe system cache. Fixed. Haven't had the issue in over 3 days now. I have been waiting to post this until I was sure it was fixed. It worked for me guys. Give it a shot.

I'm not rooted either. Hence my "shackled" HTC one Sig. I just booted into stock recovery. Power cycle the phone and hold volume down. Then select recovery, press power. During the boot up press and hold volume up and volume down. The screen will go solid black. Keep holding volume up and down and you should see a message saying "SD card mount failed". It will do that about 4 times and then finally go into the stock recovery menu. Select wipe cache. Reboot.
It may take you a few times to get the timing down with the second power cycle after selecting recovery before you see the "SD card mount failed" mags. Its not a guarantee it will work for you but it did for me.

Hi there,
Thanks for your advice, although I couldn't get all the way through it. When I select Recovery and hold both the volume keys, the screen stays black for about 10-15 secs and then an HTC One picture (gray-ish) comes up on the screen with a warning red triangle within it. I can't do anything from there.. I just power it down. Any ideas?

You tap them and release them at the same time, no holding them down. Anyway worked for me when I first got the phone (in July, older firmware) and its has been this way on HTC devices forever. Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks it worked! I held on to the keys for a bit, as soon as the soft keys started flashing I let go and boom - I'm in the recovery! But as expected, clearing the cache didn't help with the Camera issue.

Are the water indicators still white? If so consider sending it to repair.

It should be better if you turn off your phone for a period of time to avoid malfunctioning. You can use a hair blower to get rid of water that might be present inside your phone. After that, take a deep breath as you turn on your beloved device. :good:
