Proximity Notification Alert for Gear? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

After watching the latest ad on the samsung gear, the last ending segment is what sold me to finally pull the trigger.
Here's the problem, how do I set this up? I get forgetful sometimes and leave my phone on the desk. So how do I set it up so that if I leave without my phone, my watch will lock the phone and then notify me with vibrate that I forgot it? Any help is appreciated.
-thx

when the watch disconnects due to the distance between you and your phone it vibrates telling you you walked away from your phone and that the watch has lost connection. Which also means hay you left your phone on the table. lol

No. I do not speak about it (btw this only shows me lost connection-no alert). I was speaking about pushing gear power button and mobile starts ringing. Cool feature

Mine just tells me the bluetooth disconnected (along with a buzz) which is enough. No real notification.

That is probably "Find my phone" which is a built in app.

1. The Gear vibrates when it gets out of BT range. As far as I know there is no setting for this, it default.
2. Find my device and find gear are 2 default apps in gear manager and in gear.

Find my device works but it is manual.
Be kind of nice to walk away and get more than a vibration when you exceed Bluetooth range.

3. If u lock your phone with a pattern gear will unlock the pattern. But not the whole lockscreen, u still have to swype over the screen. It has to be in a range of about 10cm

It's in the gear manager on your phone, Settings, 1st option: Autolock.

Hi guys, yes indeed the vibration is a standard setting for proximity alert. However me too u would like to change that to a spoken notification both for out of prxomity alert "connectiopn lost" and for reconnecting.
Any ideas?

moto x active display now works for s4.. wow..

I iust found this and I thought ill share it with the wonderful people at xda for always helping me why not share . Feel me I dont know if theres another thread for this but hey . Any way I had a chance to play with the moto x and its okay . Lets put it like this its not a s4 . Lol. However I did like this active display which show your notifications as they pop in . Almost like a lock screen but better in my veiw . Take a look for your self heres the link.....

The great thing is that it works for our phone it also help with battery life thats a plus . Enjoy . Let me know what ya think.
Peace .
O.Nice a Galaxy S4
Not sure how this would actually help with battery life as it actually turns on the screen which is a major power drainer as opposed to just turning on the Led which is what happens by default. With that being said I do love this app for phones that do not have an led indicator. I use this on my blu life play and it does help with getting notified especially when your phone is on silent . I think one obvious feature it is missing is the ability to "pulse" the notifications periodically cause as it stands right now the screen lights up and if you aren't staring directly at your phone you will miss it. And you are back to pressing a button to turn the screen on and check. With the s4 its not that big of an issue cause the led will continue to pulse as it would anyway. So although its kind of gimmicky I would see it consuming more battery on the s4 than by just turning on the led. If the whole point it just to get notified when some actionable item has happened than a simple led is best. Rather than a screen that lights up only momentarily then never to be seen again.

Well not really cause in the app it self you could set how long you want it to stay on. Plus I'm one that dont like led I hate to see that light flash plus it dont show you your message just saying. Lol. And being that is black with white letter consume less battery. And instead of going in your phone you could read a brief detail of your messages and emails with out go in your to phone ,,unlock your phone sliding your bar down and then clicking it to go in your app then your app has to load which is quick but more step to see your messages here you could just quick veiw. I always have my phone on ten mins cause I hate for my phone to turn off plus I always turn it off when im not using it and I get great battery life doing that with it being ten mins that app will stay on as long as you have your system time out set plus you could set a sound for it too so you dont miss it. So in alot of way its great once again in my view. And yeah never to be seen again..lol.. that needs to get updated . But its a work in progress. Lol

It doesn't turn on the whole screen. With AMOLED screens, the black pixels are completely off and aren't using any power. The only pixels drawing power are the ones you see. An LCD screen, on the other hand, is drawing tons of power even if it's displaying an all-screen. Having an AMOLED screen is what makes this feature practical.
On our galaxy S4 s we have the Quick Glance feature anyway so that works for me. I think its actually better than this app because u can have the screen light up when u need it, with a quick wave over the device itself, and not just once after receiving the message, email or etc.. No offense to the Dev its awesome for phones that don't have a led notifier or the Quick Glance feature. Keeps up the development it helps lots of people thou.

I wanna have the ability to to read and dismiss or read slide up and it takes me right in to the message . I kinda like the idea of it. I just hate the led flashing .lol.. but I see ths goin places..lol..

That, and the fact that it takes a couple seconds to activate the quick glance feature. I found that it was quicker to just unlock the phone and look at it.

In that last video the guy made it seem like the Gear would alert you if you forgot your phone. Is this actually in? I can't seem to find a setting for it either on the Gear or in Gear manager and mine definitely doesn't alert me that I left the phone behind, unless it's just the vibration saying you lost Bluetooth connectivity. In the video it didn't appear to be that tho, because he wasn't very far from the phone when he got the alert.
it does let you know bc it disconnect from Bluetooth then it vibrates on your wrist

In the video he doesn't look very far from the phone before he "got the alert" when I'm outside I can go 50-60 feet easily before Bluetooth disconnects. I was hoping I had missed a more intelligent alert with regards to leaving the phone behind, but I guess it's not there.

phone lost alert smartwatch 2

Hello, I have received my free smartwatch few days ago, it seems to be working fine, but there is a issue.
I don't get any alert when my phone is disconnected from watch (there is a slight vibration, but no notification or message)
My question is how do I get my watch to vibrate and display message that my phone is lost?
this seems like a pretty much great thing to have, is there a way to get it?
Thanks a lot

Well yeah, I get that too...
But the problem is it should at least vibrate 5 times and display a message.. This way I am not sure if it is just Facebook spam or my phon ebeing lost..
So there is no way to turn on this additional alert?

I don't think that it has an option for this.
Install watchit or augmented smartwatch and you will get the alert.

[Q]Vibrate alert when phone on silent?

Hi all,
I was wondering if people had any issues with alerts not vibrating on the watch? I have an S4 and when i put my phone on silent i dont get any vibration alerts on my phone.
is there any way to change this?
thanks
Hi there,
Yes, got exactly the same issue with my G Watch R, and I also use an S4.
I'm going to see if there's a difference between putting my phone on silent 'manually', versus using the Android Wear app 'Silence on connected phone' and 'Alert on watch only' option.

I contacted LG and posted on the google forums and it seems like its this way by design. it will mirror whats going on on the phone so if the phone is silent it wont vibrate the watch. I used the android wear app to send google feedback as id like to see more control over this.
I have my N5 on silent during the day at work, but my watch vibrates fine. There is a setting on the watch with a swipe down. Try putting your phone on silent and then pull down the menu on the watch to see if notifications are silent on there.

My phone vibrates for no 'reason'

Greetings all,
I have a new Note5 and overall I like it.
As you might expect I have been working feverishly to find up to date app solutions for my usage model and that will work on an unrooted device. I despise all that conspire to force this upon us! Anyway I have been testing loads of apps and somewhere along the way something has been set to vibrate to indicate something. It is happening at fairly random intervals and nothing shows on screen or in the pull down that accounts for it.
I have looked for events that are pending, past due, etc. I don't get many texts. So, it isn't that. I have even turned on airplane mode which should prevent any kind of updaes or pushes that might trigger an notice.I have checked all of the apps I am using and none are set to vibrate only. From the initial turn on of this phone I have run package disabler pro for Samsung. Using a basic list from this xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/guide-bloating-touchwizzing-note-5-t3184563. I have restarted the phone several times as well
Can anyone suggest some kind of system monitor/logging app that I can load that will allow me to find out which application is triggering this? Is there some other way I can find out what is triggering this event? I expect that a logging app will eat battery more but on a temp basis that would be ok.
Thanks all and here's to someone finding a way for us to root our notes without messing up our warranty and secure payment...

If you are talking about how it vibrates when you first pick it up for seemingly no reason, then that's a feature. It's to let you know you have notifications. It's called smart alert, you can disable it in the gestures menu.
vibrate (and sound) for 'no reason'
Thanks _MetalHead_
But no. This happens when it is sitting undisturbed. I will check and turn off that feature if it isnt already so it isnt adding to the confusion.
If I didnt say, I find no idication of active alarms or notifications.
P
Do you have any Bluetooth devices connected? I had a smart watch with my S5. Every time it connected or disconnected, the phone would vibrate. This was especially annoying when I left the watch in the bedroom while sitting in the living room with my phone. Every few minutes it would connect/disconnect and the phone would vibrate.

Not clear if this is contributing. Will turn BT off to be certain.
Actually, I think I can say for certain no. This has happened in airplane mode.
That is why I am looking for a system logging application or some equivalent method.

Hi, Go to settings and go to S Pen Option, and turn off all S Pen alerts, including power saver one.

Yeah, I re-read your OP, and noticed you said it was happening in airplane mode.
The S-Pen suggestion above seems worth pursuing.
Good luck!
I have the same problem. It would just randomly vibrate. I think is something to do with Google notifications.
