The first step is posting in the correct location... Its OK though because I moved your post from themes to Q and A so people will actually see it... :good:

Touchsquid. Look at all the variations. You should be able to get by with the $10 one. But look at the $20 and $$50 one in case you need the extra features and profiles.

Second this. Takes a little time to figure out how to program the thing. But once you do, it's very customizable and works like a charm.

I'm not having any issues with my TV. But my Dish DVR box, I cannot get it to work, at least with the app that comes with the phone.

I use this remote https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freeirtv The free version works well for my Samsung TV as well as the couple of different cable boxes I have tried.

Smart IR Remote looked the best to me. I set up my TV, Xbox, and receiver pretty quickly. Smart remote functions are good too.

Same here. Won't work with Dish VIP722. This is the WatchON app.

There is an app called zappir it has a widget remote and works well on my tab 2 and my friends s4 active.

I just looked. They don't have it anymore or maybe I tested when Google allowed 24 hour refunds. I don't even see the $10 app for Samsung gs4/HTC one phones. Sorry. I kept the $19 app when I bought it as it controlled a lot of stuff I tested. It worked very well on my gtab2. I finally got it almost completely setup last night on my note3. I rarely need my TV remote as I have volume setup to be controlled through my onkyo/onkyo remote. I really only need the smart hub button and very rarely input on my Samsung TV remote but now I only need touchsquid app. For the cheapies in here the touch squid $19 app is really worth it. Touchsquid has excellent support as seen through the reviews and they update often. I only think you might run into problems with old stuff or the latest stuff that might've changed their frequencies recently for touchsquid to not have updated.

I use iRule on my iPad and now on the Note 3

No ****. I do have to say I like how the layout and graphics represent the actual remotes better but having touchsquid that premium isn't worth it to me.
sent from my sm-9005.

Well, since the Samsung WatchON app is an epic fail (and far too bloated for what I want) I'm going to bump this thread because I'm looking for an extremely basic free universal remote app with codes for my ancient Sony integrated receiver.
All I want is volume buttons and input switching. I don't need anything that costs, supports 500,000 devices, has a fancy-pants gui with pictures of the device, etc.
That free IR Universal Remote linked in a previous post is unacceptable, by the way. I left them a negative review on the play store already.
Any other freeware suggestions?

Great looking app..
Not worth the $$$

Exclusive racing game that will come pre-installed on the Tmo Note 2
Why does the Tmobile version get an exclusive? Charge more?
Uh, no where does it say Moga comes with it. Tmo's launching it along w the n2 and you can buy them "together"... but for only 50 it might as well be free.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. No where does it say that you will get it for free when you purchase a note 2.
As for the game itself. If I can't Uninstall it, then they can keep it. I don't care if it's free or not.

Its a really cool controller and all and I would love to have one, BUT it is still running via Bluetooth and if you watch the youtube video posted above, there is still a lag in timing between button press and game response. Its slight but can be enough to mess your gaming up in an intense situation when there is a lot going on or when accuracy is key. That is still the only reason I have not or will not spend $50 on one until there is a way around it.
lack of a dpad kills it for me.

Yup, I agree. More buttons and zero lag. Just buy a GameKlip to attach it.

The Note 1 is wider than the Note II so it should fit in it if it was designed for the OG Note.
EDIT: I didnt see that it connected to the phone by the top and bottom. I was thinking this was a different clip that connected to the sides and was adjustable.
Also I use the SixAxis.apk and PS3 controller on my OG Evo and I do have a slight lag. I though it was due to Bluetooth. It makes fighting games and precise timing an issue. Do you not have that issue?

How they could do this economically, I have no idea. But thanks for the heads up.

Does Your Nexus 7 Have a "Specific Job"

Just wondering how many people use their Nexus 7 for a specific job rather than just as a day to day tablet.
Mine has 2 main jobs,
1: When working I receive my assignments over the 3G connection (Just changed to the 3G N7 before I had to tether to my phone so this thing is a godsend). I have to accept them and respond quickly so having the tablet on the dashboard of the car makes this easy.
(Its a shame but my car is too small to have it mounted directly in the dash, I need a car exempt from London Congestion Charge so the choice is limited and the Fiat 500 Twinair is the most fun choice out here)
This is where my Nexus has found it's home and when its not taking assignments I use it to monitor the car and improve my economy using TorquePro and a Bluetooth connection the cars OBDII it allows me to monitor and tweek.
This is where my Nexus 7 3G has now taken up house,. Anyone out there use them for specifics rather than as a general Tablet?.

I use mine for google + post facebook (what little i use it anymore).Other social media. Email my Calender .It does all the stuff i used to do on my phone but is not quite as east because of the small screen. It stays tethered to my phone or connected to my home network.. I also use it for gps in my Mini van. I have lots of room and a nice mount buit into the dash .
There are a few games i play from time to time.. So i would say my tablet is A Social content Device for the most part....
I would trade it for the 3g version and get a normal non smart cell phone . Thought about this alot.. humm

I use my N7 for reading and gaming. The 7" size plus a Tegra 3 make it perfect for both... especially if you play games that only run in portrait mode. Playing portrait-mode games like Cordy Sky, Doodle Fit, Cut the Rope, Tetris, etc. on a 10" tablet is awkward at best.
My N7 had been my day-to-day tablet the past few weeks. I had sold my Motorola Xoom but hadn't yet received my Nexus 10. I found having to use a 7" tablet for things like web browsing, coding, etc. was annoying to say the least just because of screen real estate. But now that I have my N10, my N7 can go back to doing what it's good at and the N10 can now fill my old Xoom's shoes for day-to-day productivity.

SIX AXIS compatibility issues

Anyone get this to work on stock n910t?
I'm a gamer and changed from the note 2 t889.
I still have to play on my note 2 cause my controller just won't connect. Seems like I've tried everything including but not limited to Bluetooth xposed modules to totally different apps but nothing seems to be compatible. I'm frustrated having to play on my outdated device.
I do have a moga controller but hate it and am going to return it.
Any ideas anyone.
Thanks in advance for your time.

I'm connecting through Bluetooth with the six axis controller app so i can modify the buttons to my liking ya know.
I play mc4 religiously daily. The native gamepad imho sucks dingleberries
I'm also having trouble pairing it, works flawlessly over OTG but bluetooth is a no go. I've noticed on videos that work the bluetooth icon shows up on the notification bar but on my note 4 (rooted) it doesn't appear when I press start. If anyone has a fix please post it! Share your knowledge!

Excellent. Link please. I have a homemade one that I made out of Boston clips and zip ties which works surprisingly well. I have been using them for over 2 years straight playing mc4 on my note 2 and now on my note 4. I made 2 of them, one for home and one for the office lol (lunchbreak). Google Maps | Speed Limit and Speedometer

Found this just a couple of minutes ago on Android Police. It's called Velociraptor. It's an overlay for Google Maps that shows the speed limit of the current road, and your actual speed. You're able to move the overlay to any point on the screen. Pretty clean looking, too! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pluscubed.velociraptor

This is a sweet app. Surprised it has not been implemented by default from Google.

I agree completely. Although I'm sure Google will implement it soon

Thanks for posting this. I've been wanting something like this for awhile. Love how value keeps being added to my Android auto.

Well this stinks, after setting it up, it doesn't show on Google maps through Android auto.

Oh man! But it works fine on your phone? I didn't think it would work through Android auto because it's an overlay of the actual phone app.

Nice find! Always wondered what Google's reason is for not implementing, highly doubt it's an oversight of their part

Yea I don't think it is an oversight either but they are constantly improving. We will probably see them officially implement it soon

Had to Uninstall this. Caused wonky behavior in gmaps. When you sit in place the map and old just oscillate around as if the GPS sensor output is not getting properly smoothed or the sensor is misbehaving. Since I removed it things have been back to normal. Also did not play well with dashdroid, would display the speed limit overlay even when you were not in maps.

Happened to me too, could only attribute it to velociraptor. Removed it and maps and navigation went back to normal. I'd like to use velociraptor, it has a lot of promise. If they can make it smooth and accurate like TomTom speed cameras then find. Tom tom has an overlay setting that you can use it on Google maps.

I have this running over Spotify while driving, nice heads up OP.
Pretty sure it's legal concerns preventing Google from implementing such a feature to Maps. There's a case in Germany OLG Celle, Lower Saxony where the court ruled apps alerting drivers about speed cameras and their location illegal. Can't tell about other EU or non-EU countries.
