Google Maps | Speed Limit and Speedometer - Nexus 6P Themes and Apps

Found this just a couple of minutes ago on Android Police. It's called Velociraptor. It's an overlay for Google Maps that shows the speed limit of the current road, and your actual speed. You're able to move the overlay to any point on the screen. Pretty clean looking, too! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pluscubed.velociraptor

This is a sweet app. Surprised it has not been implemented by default from Google.

Had to Uninstall this. Caused wonky behavior in gmaps. When you sit in place the map and old just oscillate around as if the GPS sensor output is not getting properly smoothed or the sensor is misbehaving. Since I removed it things have been back to normal. Also did not play well with dashdroid, would display the speed limit overlay even when you were not in maps.

Happened to me too, could only attribute it to velociraptor. Removed it and maps and navigation went back to normal. I'd like to use velociraptor, it has a lot of promise. If they can make it smooth and accurate like TomTom speed cameras then find. Tom tom has an overlay setting that you can use it on Google maps.

I have this running over Spotify while driving, nice heads up OP.

Pretty sure it's legal concerns preventing Google from implementing such a feature to Maps. There's a case in Germany OLG Celle, Lower Saxony where the court ruled apps alerting drivers about speed cameras and their location illegal. Can't tell about other EU or non-EU countries.

Please Fill Out Your Nexus 7 Complaints Here

I've taken the time to make this thread to hear about any complaints people may have about the Nexus 7. Keep in mind, this thread is NOT for PHYSICAL defects or imperfections. I'm talking about complaints about the performance, any lag at all, crashes or freezes, horrible battery life, performance with major 3D games, or any bugs you may find, post them here ! :good: Complain all you want about it, let's discuss it. Is the Nexus 7 what you were expecting ? Is it BETTER than you expected ? Is it good for the price ? Are other tablets better in any way ? Say it !
Is this really necessary?
I thought it would be interesting to know. Thank you for replying !

Check it out in the pictures and let me know what you think; I don't have any frame of reference for the quality of these and I don't want to have to be out of a device for a long period of time for an issue that doesn't really bother me.

Maps automatically updated from the Play Store today on my S4, it says it is being rolled out slowly so maybe just a select number of downloads at a time while they test it? Not sure.
I like and dislike the new update.
The new UI is pretty smooth and clean.
However they removed the option for zoom buttons. You used to be able to decide if you wanted to display them or not, now there is no option what so ever. However they've added a little help file that shows all the gestures and one i was unaware of (or maybe it is new, probably not) is double tap and hold then drag up to zoom in and drag down to zoom out. Makes up for the lack of buttons I suppose since you can still zoom in/out with one hand/finger.
Another thing I'm a little sour at google for sending the way of the dinosaur is latitude. I always enjoyed stalking my friends, but they've decided to kill latitude altogether. I got an email from google today:
Hello,
Earlier today, we announced that Google Latitude is no longer part of the Google Maps app, and we're retiring Latitude on August 9, 2013.
This means that after August 9, your Latitude friends list will be deleted and you'll lose the ability to share your location with them. There will also be some changes to Location Reporting and Location History, including changes to third-party applications that use Google Latitude. Please see our FAQs for more information.
We understand some of you still want to see your friends and family on a map, which is why we've added location sharing to Google+ for Android (coming soon to iOS).
Thank you for using Google Latitude.
Sincerely,
The Google Latitude Team

I just looked. They don't have it anymore or maybe I tested when Google allowed 24 hour refunds. I don't even see the $10 app for Samsung gs4/HTC one phones. Sorry. I kept the $19 app when I bought it as it controlled a lot of stuff I tested. It worked very well on my gtab2. I finally got it almost completely setup last night on my note3. I rarely need my TV remote as I have volume setup to be controlled through my onkyo/onkyo remote. I really only need the smart hub button and very rarely input on my Samsung TV remote but now I only need touchsquid app. For the cheapies in here the touch squid $19 app is really worth it. Touchsquid has excellent support as seen through the reviews and they update often. I only think you might run into problems with old stuff or the latest stuff that might've changed their frequencies recently for touchsquid to not have updated.

Well, since the Samsung WatchON app is an epic fail (and far too bloated for what I want) I'm going to bump this thread because I'm looking for an extremely basic free universal remote app with codes for my ancient Sony integrated receiver.
All I want is volume buttons and input switching. I don't need anything that costs, supports 500,000 devices, has a fancy-pants gui with pictures of the device, etc.
That free IR Universal Remote linked in a previous post is unacceptable, by the way. I left them a negative review on the play store already.
Any other freeware suggestions?
Great looking app..

Turn off google location service. There is an option under settings>location.I think it has an G icon (same as google search app's)
If it doesn't do the trick for you, just enable GPS and turn off mobile location (GPS doesn't use google services).
Some users have reported using GPS gives better battery life compared to mobile network location.Since the phone only turns GPS on when an app requests it.But google location service just keeps requesting your location no matter what.
Also enable mock locations in dev options. It seems to have reduced amount of wakelocks caused by RILJ etc. for me.Not sure if it would help with your problem but either way + for battery life
At first don't spam a dev thread with a link to your question!
Provide a screenshot of your wakelocks not only your alarms and provide more information about your setup!
EDIT: Did you even bother to search Google or XDA for this wakelock? Because there are so many threads about it.
