kit kat - Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G

it looks like kit kat might be very well suited to our phones, as it's specifically designed to work on older, GB-based phones. the exhibit gets resurrected yet again!

Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda app-developers app

well if cam is only doing kit kat for the nexus once i get ion stable enough, won't be hard to port it over with newer drivers for our exhibit. I just got this phone recently and plan on using for as long as possible. yes it wouldn't be hard to port it over now with pmem but to me if we are going to get any major performance boost we will need ION. Which is my biggest priority and most of the time working on.

No ION is a memory manger as is pmem. Its part of the kernel. PMEM is an older architecture which is what our phones currently use. Yes I will be releasing a custom version of AOIP as this is my first for dev android. Then I will release my own after that. Hope that clears things up a little more

CWM 6.0.4.4 cam posted does 4.4 Roms. But I know the feeling of having something more preferred than something else. For example I love Windows (anything before WIN8 as they killed my taskbar and start menu.) but absolutely hate ANYTHING APPLE.

4.3 leaked/in testing Galaxy S4

Seems as Nexus owners we're not the first to get the update this time. It could turn out to be an elaborate fake but probably genuine as Google are an experimenting company and have released two flagship devices with a vanilla Android option (although they're not "nexus"). From what I've read there doesn't appear to be any big changes (if any actually visible) and more fixes/optimisations.

Flashed it on my GS4 and working like a charm (and it's the international version of course). No root yet, so i'll switch back to 4.2.2 to get my apps lol (can't restore through TB Pro duh).
It's just a leak so don't worry about it. The Nexus devices will definitely get the 4.3 first.

Cool, I'm another few months away from a handset upgrade and so it definitely makes these phones an even better proposition, having access to stock android goodness. Was impressed seeing how quickly someone had put a vanilla 4.2.2 ROM together for the HTC One, then seen this and was very surprised.
Its good to see really as it shows that Google and the handset makers are finally getting why people like android so much and that is the option of choice and customisation. It may not be the exact reason for doing so but they must be conscious of it. As the last I/O conference showed, it was very developer orientated

Cm10

Hey there. New to the one and was wondering if there were any cm10 roms that can be flashed with s-on
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
As far as I understand it, any ROM can be flashed s-on without issue on the One (caveat below). It's different than the 3D. But the revone method of s-off is super easy so it's worth doing (see my web signature for a link). Also, from my understanding, some people have bricked their Ones trying to flash AOSP ROMs. I think s-off people have better luck with it.

The Two That I know of and have done my self are Viper and cyanogenmod. I have not take the step to s off yet as I am very new to this and am learning before I do just as you described (Brick my phone). You can easily find these two ROMs here on this site.
ViperROM v1.1.0

CyangenMod
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=m7spr
and that is where I got the ones I used as well.
It does matter which carrier you have as I made that mistake and was in bootloop which you dont want to do.
For information on that see this thread:

FWIW I was one of the people who got bricked, and I and some others helped to compile a list of victims. The last brick was on 6/29 after which the kernel was really overhauled.
Most (including me) are calling the bug squashed.

Bricking a phone would def suck! but i was under the impression, and maybe im wrong, that there is usually a way to fix it. Again im no pro but i kind of jumped into the whole rooting thing without knowing ANYTHING about it on my 3D and never seemed to mess it up more than having to flash a new RUU at worst. anyway i really love the IllusionRom. but cant seem to get google wallet to work, which is kind of a bummer. but i also really love Sense 5, and dont mind using stock one bit. I suggest going for it and checking everything out, more than likely you'll be fine. best of luck

A brick can never be recovered. It must be replaced. A BORK can pretty much always be fixed via ADB.
Also, I heard there was a workaround for the wallet issue. Just search it up. It has something to do with the build . prop.

Or if not ADB, judicious use of fastboot and RUU. I cut my teeth on a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, and after a three-month long recovery process, nothing the HTC One can pull is likely to faze me anymore.
Anyway, there are certain devices that can be recovered from a low-level brick (assuming by brick we're saying a device is completely non-responsive to input, hardware and software wise) but it's pretty involved at the best of times.

But the HTC one is riddled with QC issues and doesn't really improve much over the last Gen of phones. The next Gen has snapdragon 800, 3000 mAh batteries and whatnot. Plus, the 800s are really close. Like the G2 is already here.
The One isn't that good IMHO. The camera is overhyped really and the number of defects people are reporting make this phone worth skipping.
To stay on track with your question the CM experience is something I don't think someone in their right mind would recomend. Hell it has a tendency to burn up some phones and need replaced.

I agree if your sole decision is CM. Then wait. Cm was better on my gs3 than on here. It's pretty buggy and as has been said there are many reports of people's phones bricking cause of cm. To the quality control issue... I have had none, this phone has been great in that regard... But maybe I'm just lucky . In all honesty, overall this is the best phone I've ever owned. I don't think you'd go wrong with this phone.

My $0.02:
For the short while I was able to use CM, I wasn't exactly blown away. It was exactly the same as my GS2, but with better specs. There were no extra features or anything. It looked nice with Black Infinitum, but again, not really different from my old phone. There were some bugs, so...
And you do have to watch out for the max freq lock, which will burn up your phone as it sits.
EDIT: However, CM Nemesis is coming soon. I would still wait for for a new device with better specs, but hey, this is a fairly new device.

I really haven't had any issues since 10.1
Sent from my One using XDA Premium HD app
I used it for a week while on vacation and while it was nice to see a less bloated One with all the additional customization .. there were several issues and features that made me go back.
The biggest was GPS lock - I could not get a steady lock and if I did the radius was quite large, throwing me all over the map.
The phone actually seemed less responsive overall - including a slight delay when turning on the phone.
Missed the htc car app - google car and the ones from the market are not the same
and the IR - now it has only come in handy once, when my remote died; however, the remote can be fun at the bar
The HTCOne is a unique phone, the button layout is strange and is my biggest headache. Contrary to most posts above I like the CM experience on it better then sense, but this is my first (and only ever!) sense phone. I much prefer the AOSP experience. CM is lacking in a few places but core functionality is there and works good enough for me for daily use, for the record I'm on 10.2 20130819
Truthfully though I think I would wait for a new nexus device. I love the feel of the One in my hand but it's nothing amazing hardware wise.

Kitkat for nexus one?

Android 4.4 clearly states that it only needs 512mb of ram to run. With that in mind, is it possible to build a kitkat ROM for the nexus one?

Well, with many thanks to jfbs and ArtfulDodger, my phone is alive again, after my ham-handed abuse. I had it stock for about a day before the desire to get rid of the bloatware made me root it. Now, it's rooted with the stock rom. Am I a reformed flashaholic? I don't know if I'm going to go back to the jb rom i was trying to get back on the phone, or will i stay with stock until kit kat makes it to the exhibit? I would love me some slimkat - j/s. I know a new OS has problems at times but geez we're to 4.4.1 now and still there are issues and ART is not cooperating much. I'd really wait a while before trying it.

Thanks for letting us know. I figured I would wait a bit, for the wrinkles to get ironed out. Still pretty early. I'm happy with the Exhibit right now, so I can afford to wait a bit.
I'm happy with KitKat every thing I use has worked fine

That's good to know. I am sure AD is a serious power user, compared to me. I do know that when I read the OP there are still some things missing which I might use, but i will do some research. I might just hold my nose and put CM on my phone.... lol!
