Camera after KitKat?

Hello Everyone,
After hearing of the cyber monday deal, I've decided to make the switch from my Nexus 4 to the Moto X. KitKat and active notifications --not to mention the amazing battery life I've been hearing about-- have been enticing me for weeks. Now that I can feasibly get it off contract, I'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger.
My one and only reservation is the camera. I've heard some bad stuff to be sure; however, I've also read somewhere that things have gotten considerably better after an update (kitkat, perhaps?). I also read that there was a new isolated motorola camera app released through the play store recently. Has the camera IQ improved since launch? Not concerned about the app functionality itself --- rather wondering if the image output is more consistent, if the software correction is better, etc.
Thanks in advance! Can't wait to get one of these things...
Got my answer...
If any of the some 67 people who viewed my post are interested in the same question, MKBHD's new Nexus 5/Moto X comparison video sheds some light:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMFLeoDx6J4
short answer for those who don't care to watch it: yes, the camera has been much improved by the new camera update app.
Well, looks like I'm going to have a Moto X soon.
Good video, thanks for posting it. The camera demo for the Moto X was not KitKat. The KitKat version shows a focus/exposure "recticle" in the view finder (also, the status bar close up still had the blue JB icons). That is one of my favorite improvements to the camera. The JB Moto X camera did not have an exposure control, the KitKat version does. Overall the pictures are better in KK on the Moto X.

[Q] Nexus 6 camera specs

So after reading about the Sony IMX214 Exmor RS sensor that is in the nexus 6, I find that Sony says its capable of 1080p at 60fps just as it is on the one+one. Why isn't this listed under the nexus 6 specs? Maybe its software related or google is going to roll out updated specs with a google camera update? What do you guys think?

Glad I found this thread. Camera sensor is by the look of it the same as the Mi4 and one plus one. Not sure if either had great camera reviews tbh but samples so far look promising but will have to wait.
I'm sure they were probably just aiming to mention the MAX recording capability (which is generally what people are more interested in). I'm pretty sure if the camera can record 4K resolution video at 30hz, it can more than likely handle 1080p at 60.
For reference, there's a general N6 camera discussion thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/camera-discussion-t2906907
Please continue the discussion in the dedicated discussion thread for Nexus 6 Camera here. Thanks

[Q] Anyone tried to use L Camera on Lollipop?

There is a project that uses the new camera APIs in 5.0 to allow one to save RAW image files, control exposure time, shoot at 30 FPS full resolution, do 1080p60fps video, and more... So far, it's only confirmed working on the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 but as the Moto G 2014 has the same sensor as the Nexus 5, I was wondering if it might also work on the G. Anyone care to give it a shot?

Request moto x pure edition/style camera

Is it possible for anyone to grab the camera from the 2015 moto x I like that manual exposure feature
I'd love to have that camera app on the nexus 6, that's the only thing I miss from the moto x
There will be a port soon enough. Read on another thread that someone is working on it.
In the meantime, Get Proshot off Playstore. It has all the features like manual exposure. As well as full 4k recording w/ manual focus as well. It eliminates the constant refocus crap that has plagued our device.

Finally, I got a chance to test out Xiaomi Mi A1 and Motorola G5S Plus. Both the smartphones have nearby feature, i.e. Dual camera. So, I will do camera review by capturing pictures and video in both Daylight and low light conditions, with the different set of an option they got. :good:
