Mistake updating cyanogenmod... - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I had my Tab P1 running CM 10.1 nighties, and this morning I mistakenly update directly to cm 11 nighties
It boots, but I continuously receive errors on phone app and I can only reboot.
What can I do ? Could you help me with a step by step guide ? What I need to install first from the recovery mode ? I tried to revert to my last nightie but I receive an error....
Thanks!

Give more information about the error, please.

I had my p1000 running last cyanogenmod 10.1 nightie, I downloaded the first cyanogenmod 11, and then I installed it.
First boot: com.android.phone continously crashing.
Downloaded Google apps, installed from sd, rebooted, everything seems to work fine until I tried to use play store (crashed).
Full wipe, installed again last nightie, Google apps and now at startup setting application crashes repeatedly...
What should I do?
Thank you for your answer!!
sorry for late answer, busy days!

another error I receive is in clockworkmod recovery:

and E: error in cache/recovery/last log no space left on the device

I think the only thing will help you is restock.
I have another error, but my situation is very similar to yours.
Reflashing of any CM11 or CM10.2 ROM did not help me.
Restoring of 3 working backups (1 KitKat and 2 JB) did not help me, too.

I have some thoughts about our errors.
Similar errors occur on the different CM ROM's, so I came to the conclusion that something is wrong in the p1-common source files.

Same problems here.
CM11 install goes fine, after installing gapps I have a lot of problems, apps close, freeze...
I switched back to cm10, no other choice at this time.
Oh, for the ones that having problems getting the P1000 back to life again.
I re-stocked the P1000 to 2.3.6 with repartition (included the .pit file).
After that I flashed the Overcome kernel (wich contains CWM and root).
I cleared all caches, Dalvik, etc.
After that I flashed CM10 and Gapps.
Tab is working fine now... Android 4.2.2. though.

I have the same issues as well. Hopefully CM11 will get updated to resolve the issue.

it seems I solved the problem, apparently.
From recovery, I did factory reset, a full wipe, cache. Then I flashed last nightie, Google apps (without rebooting) and then everything worked.
I still have some crashes with a few app, but nothing too boring

Great
Be carefull when installing gapps
There is limited space in /system so only use the core packages
The rest of the google apps can be installed in user space from the store so don't be concerned on missing out

[Q] Problem with Google Music Play

Hey all,
First post so hope I'm doing this right.
I'm running ICS Infinitum Rom with Semaphore Kernel 1.1.1 on my GT i9000 and i've been trying to use the latest version of Google Play Music.
It can play files from my internal SD fine, but i'm having trouble getting it to play files from the emmc/audio folder. It locates all the music there but i get an error reading "Couldn't play the track you requested".
I've tried force closing and clearing data, this does not work. So i re-flashed rom and kernel. This worked. Until i flashed the Beats audio by dre.zip.
Same thing happens. So after reflashing Rom again it works for maybe two days, then i get the same error as before.
So i know somehow this works. But not sure why it changed all of a sudden?
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with format of SD?
Any help, greatly appreciated.
That sounds to me as though you have a corrupt file or a bad external sd in which case try to format it.. or you might need to clear the cache in CWM unless of course you already have done so then im out of options. seems strange that it works for some time though.
And reflashing seems a bit excessive to keep doing, you could try a different rom and see...
Yeh I tried to format but that didn't work. And a cache clear from recovery but no luck. Which rom would you recommend to try?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
That I can't really advise you on as I'm using the same ROM as you, just an older version. But try any really, just read up on some bugs they might be having. I'm going to look for a new one now to try anyway so..
I just reflashed the same from/kernel again. Then before using titanium backup to restore apps I tried Google music. It worked. So then I restored all other apps/data then rebooted. After reboot music didn't work. So it must be something from my backup affecting this program. Is trial and error the only way to figure this out?

Okay, so I've changed Rom. Gone back to aokp build 36. Google music works fine now. Although I've noticed that ES Explorer is reading my sd card and emmc as though they've swapped?

Download the 2 attachments.
Flash the fix 1 in recovery and reboot into the Rom. Come back to recovery and flash fix 2. The emmc and the sd won't be swapped now.

Update: So after still having various problems with Google music, I tried Apollo which worked well (although I had a horrid battery drain when using) now I'm on SlimIcs using the stock music app. It hasn't missed a beat and reads my SD card well.

[Q] "Package file is invalid." When installing from Play Market.

I have already tried reflashing gapps as well recovering to a point when the market is working. I have also tried wiping all of my caches. This has now happened to me 3 times. Each time I have been able to resolve it by doing a system the problem by doing a factory reset from TWRP. It should also be noted that when I try to install apps from my SD card, it also says install failed, but when I am not getting the "Package file is invalid" from the market the apps install fine from the SD card. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

What Rom are you using?
AOKP Remix. I just bought my TP used and the previous owner put that ROM one (which I like by the way). This is also the only issue that I'm having.

Have you tried wiping cache and davlik cache followed by fix permissions . That sorts out most problems.
I have done all of the "basic" stuff. I am quite a noob so any other ideas. Would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for that post :good:. I luckily stumbled on it right after posting. I flashed the update and it is now running perfectly. I highly suggest checking out this ROM, the whole interface is really wonderful!

Need help on recent rooted+CM9 rom

Hi. I'm having a really big problem and a hard time trying to get my phone back to how it was. I was able to do a backup with CWM rom manager before i flashed to CM9. The reason why i want to go back to the ROM that came with my phone is because i'm not able to mount my SD card. I tried it in the recovery reboot menu. I mounted everything, then when it reboots, i go into settings and try to mount both the external SD and the internal SD card, The external one mounts, but i still can't see anything from it. And the internal never mounts.
So i did use the back up utility, and now when i go to restore, It says that the MD5 checksum aren't matching up or something. I'm also scared because it says that the battery is not charging. I've turned the phone off and am letting it charge now to see if it'll charge. But it was down to 11%, And i'm starting to get scared cause i might be without a phone. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
How can i wipe CM9 and go back to the ROM that came with my samsung 4g exhibit II when i got it? this is what it was before;
exhibit ii 4g
sgh-t679
android 2.3.6
kernel 2.6.35.7-perf (I didn't upgrade this)
build #: gingerbread uvle1
P.S. After i rooted it and flashed it into the root_kit. I then flashed it into "cm-9-20121125-UNOFFICIAL-ancora_tmo". So this is the rom that's giving me the problem. I really hope someone understands what's going on and can help me. I just want to go back to how it was before. And 1 more thing. I can only browse the sd card through wondershare mobilego for android. All my files are still there, But i can't see them on the phone, Just through USB connection.
Thank you so much
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Go into cwm wipe system 3 times dalvic cache and so on, then restore, or you can just do a clean install of the ROM you wish.

Oh wait, Something good happened. I read somewhere else that i might have to format the internal sd card. I just did that and now i'm able to see my external sd card. all my music and pics are here. Hmmm, weird... now i'm going to try and backup the texts and logs that i saved from mobilego. but i still might want to go back to the factory rom because the screen was bigger.
I just can't flash the gapps .zip file. It says that it can't open and then it just says (bad). So i can't connect my google account to my droid as it stands.
Download gapps again. And flash, Do not restore system apps, only do user apps

odouppi practical
I upgraded to CM10. Now the gps doesn't work. also the usb connection doesn't work so i can't load the cm9 i don't think. If i wipe the ROM, will that load it back to the factory one? or will it make my phone useless?
Update: Ok, I'm able to connect via wifi with Mobilego. Should i upload root-stock.zip and flash that so it can go back to gingerbread (or whatever the ROM is called that is the basic one that was on before i changed?)
Update 2: I'm just having a problem with GPS. in google maps (a program i do use a lot), Is not able to get my current location. I wonder if anyone else is having this problem from CM10

Root-stock.zip will not get you back to gingerbread. You should read the t679 XDA wiki. Five or six times even.
maybe i should try doing this when i'm sober...
Yeah that would help alot

I think i'm going to stick with this ROM. But the only problem is that the facebook app seems to be crashing. it doesn't even load up. and gps works in one app, but not in the google maps apps.
What do you mean Facebook is crashing, on occasion I get Facebook has stopped, but if you hit WAIT it loads just fine

No, It's working now. I had to uninstall it. Restart the phone, Then install it again.
The only thing that's not working is the gps on google maps.

Ok look, a general rule of thumb whenever you are installing a new rom, do a full Rom wipe = Factory Reset. Then flash your new rom. Then proceed to install the necessary Gapps. Then clear cache and dalvik cache. Then fix permissions. Then your set. The only time you can install a rom over another rom is if its an update, from the exact same rom and same os.
Soooo happy with CM10

I This I clear the cache, dalvik cache (and maybe even data). I wiped everything in that menu except ROM and system. It was my first time working with this. I did it in less then a week of lightly reading about it. I'll make sure to remember that man.
Thanks
:good:
P.S. I LOVE CM10. This ROM is just phenomenal. I couldn't believe my eyes when i went from Android 2.3.6 to Android 4.1.2. This site has helped me a lot. Please are very friendly and i appreciate that a lot.
Thanks once again, this site is very helpful.

Reboots and FCs with any rom

Hey guys, I've been having those issues since flashing trickdroid mods. Before that i was using cm 10.1 and everything was fine. Later on i tryed PA, PAC, ARHD and a newer CM Version and i still have reboots while accessing the play store installing an app or just turning my phone to landscape mode. Also there are many fcs and heating issues now and then. I did so many full wipes and tried not restoring anything via titanium and still my phone won't be stable at all.
Anyone know what to do? Heeeeelp
Sent from my One using xda app-developers app
It's a problem about some apps.
I'm running trickdroid without any prob.
Haven't had issues for a while but then, again reboots!
Installed Unified Remote via play store (dont think it matters which app I want to install at all), after download completed and install progress began, reboot. Just bootet, received notification from xda app, tapped notification and again reboot.
It's really annoying. Any idea? Maybe switching back to stock or wiping my virtual SD card next time i flash? What might cause this problem and what might help me solve this?
Please!
Sent from my One using xda app-developers app
Okay maybe someone knows a solution if i tell you that the error i get is
"error getting pid for '0'"
Just checked my logcat. Is it supposed to be full off errors or is it just me?

[i605] Nightly has no voice/data

Hi. Just noticed that nightly builds for i605 (Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon) were available. Downloaded and installed them using both TWRP 2.6.3.1 and CWM 6.0.4.3. In both cases, the rom installed okay, but I didn't have voice or data. This happened with both the nightly from 12/19/13 and the nightly from 12/17/13. I did a clean install (factory reset, wipe system, wipe data) before flashing the omni nightly. Anyone else experiencing this?

I too experienced the same thing. Hoping it gets worked out soon.
Try installing SELinuxModeChanger from the play store and set it to Permissive. Thats what I had to do to get data back after the 12/20 OTA on my Galaxy Note 2. Tried both TWRP and CWM before that.
Thanks for the suggestion. Just installed the 12/19 nightly via twrp 2.6.3.1. First thing after it booted was to download SELinuxModeChange app and set to permissive. Then rebooted but still no voice or data.

hmmm... maybe try PhilzTouch CWM, it's a non-standard CWM. IF you do you can flash the nighties from the OpenDelta folder, system update will drop you into recovery and it'll error the update but you can install manually.
I'm also interested in a fix for this..I played around with the rom for a few hours on wifi before realizing that there was no cell connection.
I have philz installed, so maybe I will take a look through its settings and also try the app suggested. Is it possible that maybe its an APN issue?
EDIT:
..I did find that the zips to add multiwindow support do work on the nightly though!
I just tried again... Seems that it is not recognizing the Sim is installed, and also shows no baseband. I'm on the latest, MJ9. IIRC

I tried updating apn conf, as well as a buch of related apks, all pulled from slim's 4.2.s which works pretty well (gps is slow, but cell/data work normally). Nothing I tried helped...
..still hoping this will get some more attention from a qualified dev.. please??!?
:fingers-crossed:
flash your modem?

Rick is looking into it. The nightlies were pulled due to this bug.
Same issue on nightly 02012014
I installed the nightly and my voice/data is not working anymore, installed the 4.1 modem again without any luck...
did anyone have this issue?
I thought I was the only one having this problem
No Sim recognized. No cell, data.
I decided against omni until the bugs get worked out.
Reinstalled CleanRom ACE. Everything is now good to go. Its almost like I have a fully functional phone again. (Almost like having an iPhone).
