I just ordered my lg g2 phone Since this phone supports 24-bit, 192 kHz Hi-Fi playback for FLAC and WAV files i'm looking for a pair of in ear headphones w/ Mic do anybody have any ideas?

TripleFi 10

i have a triple fi as well. they rock. but also pretty expensive.
the op wanted one with mic, but as far as i know, they are all crappy.

Get the meelectronics a161p headphones. They have a mic too. Amazing sound! I am a sound engineer.

You can look into the Shure SE215 but they cost more with the mic. I think it it all comes down to your budget but if your considering sound quality to be important you'll have to put down some serious coin.

Thanks allot guys for all the quick reply's..
Has anybody heard of the Quadbeat 2 headphones they say it was made for the G2

They came with my G2, international version, in the box.
Decent in ear headphones as compared to others (Apple, Samsung), offers pretty good noise isolation but lacking in bass.
You can get them on eBay for about 20 dollars, I heard. Plastic build, wire gets stained easily since it's rubber. Wouldn't really recommend it. But alright if you're just looking for an average pair of headphones with mic that works with the G2.

That's great to know. glade I didn't get it now.. I have a $12 credit with buydig.com and notice they have a sennheiser cx 275 on sale for $24. I have a sennheiser cx 215 w/o mic and it sounds amazing so I figure this would sound just as good and with a mic. SO I guess i'll try that with my G2 and the poweramp app.. I also should of mention that this will be mostly used at work around dust so I really don't want anything over price for that.

I'm using a-JAYS-Four with powerAMP.
Awesome for me.

Not a fan of the in ear headphones. Can anyone suggest regular headphones? What's a good one to get?

I tried alot of earphones using the stock Music app, and the bass was just sorely lacking... I ended up buying the Coloud Pop. They are insanely cheap, and offers enough thump to deliver the bass that the software lacks. I love them colors too.

Same here. I've had the shure se215LE for a year now and just went and compared them with the 535 and 435 in store and didn't hear a reason to upgrade. I do use Viper for Android 's root app though which levels the playing field. Aside- If you want quality sound from your phone, it makes all the difference. I feel like half my sound comes from the headphones and half from V4A. Let me put it this way... it's good enough to make a $120 pair sound just as good, if not better, than a $500 pair.
Anyway it doesn't come with a mic, but you can easily find the inline mic attachment for about $20 online or in a store.
Klispch also still sells the s4a with a mic if I'm not mistaken, but as far as cheap in ears go, I can't recommend the Shures enough. The fit may take some getting used to in the beginning, but that would be my only concern with em

Budget?
Are you going to get an amp?
What kind of music do you listen too?

As people mentioned here, your budget is what will determine the final outcome. You know what they say, more money->more music
As far as headphones go, i have a pair of Panasonics DJ series (can't remember exact model) and the sound is amazing. Lacks mic, but headphones are just crazy. Priced around 80-ish $. Basically, you'll want to look for old school brands like Sennheiser and you wont make a mistake.
I was using my headphones for a while but the cost to battery is just a bit too much, so i switched to Sennheiser earphones and they're just amazing! Got them for about 15€ on mad discount at Amsterdam's Media Markt rofl.

[Q] Any recommendations for a pair of wired earphones with mic and controls?

I've lost the ones that came with it, and though they may show up, I wasn't that happy with them. I plug in my JBLs that I used with my Zune and they sound so much better, but they've no microphone so I can't use them to answer calls.
A search of amazon hasn't really helped since everything is for the iphone or android and no guarantee they will work with the Focus.
I'd like to get a good set of these too. Something for both music and answering a quick call without having to change to my bluetooth headset.
Well the ibeats work well and sound nice, But what I usually use are sets of headphones made for the psp go by sony. No volume control, but it has a mute switch and I can tell you from experience that the mike works. Also, sincethey all use just a standrard 3.5mm triplex jack you can get any brand you want as long as it is not for nokia. They wire the mike and headphones backwards. Heck you could even use skull candy if you are real tacky like that. I am sometimes, in a pinch.

Love the Skullcandy. Have a set of Aviators though and mic is not functional on the Samsung although the headset works fine on a iPod touch. Can anyone else confirm that the pinout is standard on the Samsung Focus?
Skullcandy
I have a pair of 50/50 Skull Candy headphones myself and can confirm the mic nor the volume up and down buttons function on the Focus. Comparing the jack to the one on the headphones that came with the phone there seems to be small but visible size differences in the separation rings.
Skullcandy is cheap and stylish, but if you get a pair make sure you are DELICATE with them! I cannot tell you how many headphones I've bought from them that suffer from the 'dead ear' issue only after a couple of weeks. So make sure that whenever you use them or put them in your pockets that there isn't too much pressure around the jack area.
Do any of the Galaxy S headsets work with the Focus? My dog ate my pair and there is no replacment parts listed at samsungparts.com.
No headphones available for something that was built to listen to music and talk is kind of a big deal.
I bought skull candy full metal jackets off Amazon...

This model has an exact fit 3.5mm jack that fits exactly like Samsung stock headset. Sound quality is superb. If you like bass, these are awesome. You can start and stop music, and answer and end calls from mic. The nylon covered cord is kind of kinky... still getting used to it. Very comfortable in ears and they stay put. Overall, very happy and would buy again. I don't know about durability yet.
Smuook, does the mic work on the skull candy.
Yes, mic seems to work well so far. I've asked a few people and they say they hear me perfectly (depending on call quality obviously). It also works for voice search. You cant initiate a search with mic button, but you can capture your voice with mic. One other thing about cord, it is covered in a nylon jacket. The reason for this is that is that it makes it tangle free and won't end up in knots.
I have some Westone W3's which a Sony Bluetooth Dongle. I find the sound quality is better over Bluetooth (yes believe it or not.)

I've seen different colors... and the black ones with different model numbers. I don't know what the differences are, if there is any. One more "by the way", the FMJs will forward music on double click and backup on triple click. The only thing they don't do is volume, but phone has buttons on side for that so not a big deal.

$185 for a pair of earbuds. Wow. I'll stick with the Skullcandy FMJ's (which are working great for me).
They will cost about 120, as soon as they are available. And I have to tell you: Westones are worth it!
When I go to the Amazon link, it says a newer version is available.
I wonder if the new version would work the same?

The mytouch 4g headphones are awesome! Everything works even voice activation. I borrowed a pair from a friend. Now I will be checking amazon or eBay for a pair.

External Speaker

Just purchased a X-Mini II Capsule speaker for the Nook. This little speaker really rocks compared to the internal speaker. It has a rechargeable battery that charges through any computer USB port. Bought in off Amazon for $25.00 but looks like it's on sale now for $16.97. I could barely hear movies before using the internal speaker, usually just hooked up headphones. With this little speaker, I had the volume all the way up and the wife's yelling at me in the next room to turn it down.
Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UEBN42/ref=ox_ya_os_product
Here's a picture of it attached to the Nook:

Love the picture frame holder stand too.
I have one that looks just like that. Sound is excellent and bought it on ebay for $4.95, search for usb hamburger speaker.
***Update mine does not have a rechargeable battery. Works via usb or dc cord.***
Your little speaker looks like a nice find. Just one question before making the jump, how do you find the battery life on this speaker? Hours...a full day...any, observations regarding battery life would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Haven't really tested the battery life out yet. But my grandson watched 2 movies, I watched one. Streamed Pandora for about 2 hours and still running on intial charge. It doesn't have any battery indicator and the manual says it's get about 12 hours before needing a recharge.
You can probably find them cheaper on Ebay. Take the plunge, you'll enjoy it!

Great find anyway. Hopefully someone will find a similar stereo pair of small speakers, to use fixed on that "plate holder" you use for your NC.
Other ways to deal with the NC audio problem -- within the NC itself -- are discussed in my blog: fineoils.blogspot.com.

The X-Mini has another 3.5mm audio jack on it. You can daisy chain as many of the speakers as you want. I hooked up headphones to it last night and they work also.
Want I really want is the bluetooth chip enabled on the NK. They I can use my bluetooth headphones.
The 2 pack from Buy.com looks like a good deal. Not sure on how the "Glow LED power indicator ring adds night time ambiance" feature will affect batter life though.

I received mine today. The sound is decent. Definitely a boost compared to Nooks regular speaker. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you can daisy chain these together. I figured all of these would be the same. Should of researched them a little better. It looks like the other ones cost about $20 a piece. So you are looking at a minimum of $40 to daisy chain. The battery life doesnt appear to be as long on these as on the others. I believe these only last a few hours. The others ones I have seen are suppose to last up to 11 hours. I dont know if I would put a lot of money into the other ones anyways. A lot of people have complained on the battery dying after awhile and the only way they could use them was if they were plugged into the usb. Not bad though for the price and still sounds better then the Nook speaker alone.
the x-mini are the original capsule/hamburger speakers. they are by far the best compared to any other ones out there. they also manufacture for ihome so mini ihome speakers are made by x-mini.
they also come in stereo:

Thanks for the feedback on battery life. Reading the posts following your observation, It seems you sparked further feedback from others regarding cheaper less desirable speaker versions, ones that I can now be sure to avoid. Thanks from a frugal (sounds better than cheap) poster.

I don't have enough posts for a link yet but try a google search (amazon logitech clip on speakers).
I'm wondering if these would work, it seems like they only output the sound through USB though. These would be great if someone could figure out how to get around the whole driver /install/sound output through usb issue.

To be honest, we're being ripped off on a daily basis starting with the price of the galaxy note II. Nowadays if a person wants a good quality product he has to PAY for it. Better to get ripped off with a decent product rather than getting ripped off with a ****ty one.

But you have a €600 phone? Do you then also feel that no phone is worth more than €80? Is a €80 phone as good as the one you're now holding?
What a puzzling comment. Have you ever listened to a well-recorded SACD with good headphones (high end Sennheiser, Grado, HiFiMAN or the like?)
I guess though if you listen to Nicki Minaj in 128kbps MP3 while riding a motorcycle it doesn't matter, but once you have experienced music in high definition there is no going back.
See the difference between YouTube 240p and 1080p? That difference exists in music also.

Sorry, but there's no way EARBUDS are ever going to be that much different in quality. Proper headphones can be much better without a problem, there's plenty of space for the hardware, but not earbuds.
I've tried cheap, reasonable, and expensive ones; I can't hear any difference.
As for your phone analogy, it fails for so many reasons it'd take too long to list them.

I can sure hear the difference between €20 earbuds and good ones. No question about that. Though maybe "expensive" by your standards means Sennheiser CX-300.
I don't think it fails at all.
A Nissan Micra will also take you to the shop, but it's a noisy, uncomfortable ride compared to doing the same trip in a Volvo XC90.
You can watch House on a 17" computer monitor, and the story of the episode will be no different compared to you watching it on a nice plasma screen, but it will be more enjoyable on the plasma.
You can have a cheeseburger at McD, or a garlicy rack of lamb at a nice restaurant - both will be satisfying but I bet the rack of lamb will be a nicer experience for most people.
Those all fail miserably too, though, right?
None of those things compare to microelectronics, where really, size can and does make a difference. They cannot pack high quality, 'hi fidelity' components into a tiny space like a pair of earbuds like they've made you believe; there's a point where you hit diminishing returns in the audio reproduction. You'll get better construction, you'll get better styling, and to a limited extent, you'll get improved dynamic frequency response than the el cheapo $3.99 earbuds, but NEVER enough difference to justify such a ridiculous price difference.
The components in those $120 earbuds won't cost more then a few bucks at most. You're being ripped off and what's worse, you totally fell for the marketing BS.

If you mean the new version, they sound nice enough and the Play/Pause/Call button works, as does the Mic, but the volume buttons do not work.
Volume buttons tend to be the main thing that don't work with Android smartphones, so when somebody finds a good quality earphone with working Play/Pause/Call button as well as working volume buttons, please let me know!

The components in those $120 ear-buds won't cost more then a few bucks at most. You're being ripped off and what's worse, you totally fell for the marketing BS.

If it was only marketing BS, tell me why many professionals would used expensive IEMs (often costing more than 1000$) instead of headphones ?!
It's true that usually the higher price you pay for a product the less value per $ you get, but it's the case for every single product. And it doesn't mean there is no difference between 20$ and 100$ earbuds. You probably had a bad experience that's all, don't transform anecdotal evidence into generality.
Headphone burn-in is fake by the way.

You'll never convince me that it costs anything close to $120 to make a pair of earbuds. The hardware inside them isn't going to cost more than a couple of bucks at the absolute maximum. You're letting yourself get ripped off.

I'm in audiophile buddy and let me just say there is a huge difference between a 10 dollar pair for f****** headphones versus 100 dollar pair. it's the material that they use, what kind of driver that they use, etc...
it's kind of like car audio would you rather spend let say 40 bucks for some cabinet speakers versus maybe one that might cost you 160 dollars but they are the out most best ones you can find, superior quality and superior sound. the klipsch s4's that I have the original set they have so much bass in them just for some earbuds that they are outstanding for 70 dollars. and I have the regular samsung galaxy note 2 earbuds and they sound like s***. your cheapskate and that's the problem. it's almost like this is well he's another scenario if I buy a BMW 5 Series and I hate BMW I'm just saying if I bought a BMW 5 Series and I decided to go put some tires maybe 60 dollar tires on them let's see how that works out for you.

Cases that redirect sound from rear speaker.

Does this exist? I hate trying to watch a quick YT vid and it sounds so far away and then it sounds great if I cup my hand around the back of the phone.
That is what you're supposed to do.
Sent from my GT-N7100
Why exactly am I supposed to do that?
All case like that is not practical. And if you can use a smart phone you can cup your hand to help the sound. I wish OEM's would make dual speakers on the front side. One on top and bottom and make it where you can use phone right side up or upside down. Would solve a lot of problems including the one you think you have.
Sent from my GT-N7100
Well not all cases would need to be like that, just a niche product (like those iPhone cases that amplify the sound from the speaker by virtually cupping it through the use of some space at the bottom of the case. The main concern would probably be the thickness of such a case as it needs to redirect the sound from the rear to the sides of the case (in landscape mode).
Samsung missed an opportunity there by not providing stereo speakers on the unit. That would have been awesome.
I dont think it would have to even be that thick to do a good job of directing the sound. Im sure we could get away thinner then a defender case.

The shape affects how sound travels. Having a non concave shape funneling sound would just muffle your speakers.
Just use your hands...better yet, headphones.

If the OP wanted the case to redirect the sound, the more appropriate suggestion would be to use an external speaker (wired or not).
or dual speakers,i had a motorola q9h, that thing was plenty loud..but yeah buds work better
I have an external speaker, and a bluetooth headset capable of music. The point of this was to be instantly available.

Dual speakers on front that are plenty and have a smart flip feature so you can just grab it and talk. And the noise canceling the mics doing the same would be the bomb. A phone that you couldn't hold wrong and in your face stereo.

except the problem with that is the bottom speaker would be right next to the voice microphone, which would make loud speaker cause an echo.
having the speaker on the bottom rear is already close enough to cause echo problems when i use the loud speaker during a call... and noise cancellation doesnt help much due to the differing distances between the speaker and each microphone so it doesnt cancel out perfectly, i can still hear echos.
main reason why most manufacturers dont bother with dual speakers on the rear is because the speakers are too close so you end up with near field interference.
You misunderstood. Dual speakers on the front. One top. One bottom. And use gyroscope and/or accelerometer to smartly use the correct microphone for voice and the other for cancelation. And the same for which speaker needs to be the earpiece in a call and which needs to be deactivated. For games and media both speakers on. For loudspeaker calls, and option to preset which needs to be speaker and a toggle to switch during call if necessary and/or turn off toggle altogether in options. Also makes it easier for us gsm users to use data while using loudspeaker in a call. I am sure the engineering behind it would not be too hard considering all the other more advanced features in a phone. These 5"+ can easily accommodate quality speakers for this purpose. Why it hasn't been done already I don't know. Maybe I should patent it and force the oem who comes out with it first to hook me up with a phone to license it. . If it is apple, I would want time cook to smash an iphone in public and ask for a nexus replacement for right to license.

Ive thought about getting one of these and trying to modifiy it to my needs. I know my local walmart sells them for $4. I havent looked online though.
I found this
A company called element case has these cases.
http://www.elementcase.com/Atom-S4-Samsung-Galaxy-S4-Case-p/sms4-1010-xxfx.htm
They also claim to have a patent on it so it may be hard to find another company with the same idea, really hope they start to support more devices with it.

Mahahahhahahaha! Looks like an old timey record player! That's just ridiculous! Just use headphones if sound is that huge of a complaint. I do like the idea of stereo speakers like the htc one. It's stupid and cheap of the manufacturers not to use them...
don't listen to these people
I've been on the same quest looking for this type of case, to no avail. I had something similar from Element cases for my S4, loved it, sounded great, but unfortunately, I'm not seeing anything for the Note 4. I bought my Note 4 in October, and still nothing. I agree, it's a HUGE market these case companies are missing out on. Wish I had access to a 3D printer, I'd start making them myself and make a killing.

Review of Awei in-ear headphones w/lots of pics!!!

This is a review of two models of Awei in-ear headphones I just got from DX.com
Even so I have been reviewing a lot of brand name headphones in a more pricey range, sometime I like to switch to a budget category to show you some amazing deals and quality you can get without breaking the bank. Usually those are no-brand name products from HK retailers, but in this case I'm actually reviewing two pairs of headphones from Awei, a brand name manufacturer I'm not too familiar with until this review which I found to be surprisingly good!
First one is Awei ES-Q3 (http://dx.com/p/stylish-in-ear-earphone-for-iphone-mp3-3-5mm-jack-140cm-cable-73838) with a price tag of $4.99. While browsing on-line catalog of dx.com, these got my attention with a really cool look and 86 5-star reviews. For a price tag of $5 you can't expect too much, so I never set my expectations high. That works great when you get surprised after opening the package So starting with a package, these looked very professional, not some cheap earbuds inside clear plastic bag you get from ebay. They came with 3 sets of different size eartips, pretty good silicone quality, and also a removable cable clip to attach headphones wire to your shirt if you need to. Looking at headphones, you notice right away the high quality of construction and material. The entire wire length is braided to keep it tangle free and to add more durability. Furthermore, the driver housing, 3.5mm connector sleeve, and cable splitter in the middle are all made out of aluminum painted in copper color. This is not a cheap painted plastic, but actually a lightweight aluminum with a good paint job since I couldn't even scratch it with my nail. There is no mic or remote, these are just audio in-ear headphones. Eartips create a good seal with your ear canal for passive noise isolation. The sound is not bad. It is bass heavy with some reduction in high frequencies, while maintaining decent mids. I was actually pleasantly surprised how I was able to raise the volume (you can get a loud sound out of these) and still hear the bass without distortion.

The next set of headphones completely took me by surprise. These are Awei ES900i in-ear headphones (http://dx.com/p/awei-es900i-stylish...-iphone-4-black-3-5mm-plug-125cm-cable-110909) for $8.99. First of all, we are talking about premium quality packaging with a magnetic display window, 3 premium pairs of different size ear-tips, and a premium genuine leather pouch. Headphones itself have flat-noodle cable, the kind you find with most of the expensive headphones nowadays. I don't know why original description page from a link above says plastic material, because these are aluminum as well, headphone housing, cable splitter, and 3.5mm connector sleeve. Everything is crafted very nicely, and looks very durable. Also you get in-line remote with mic to handle your calls and a hidden button for play/pause while listening to audio/video and pickup/hangup calls while on the phone. With a free app like JAYS or MAVEN you turn this single click button into multifunction double/triple-click for playback control to slip next/prev tracks - it worked without a problem. But what set these apart is a sound quality. I thought previous pair for $5 was good, and I expected the sound quality of these to be the same with extra $4 covering fancier packaging, leather pouch, and mic/remote. Well, the sound quality of these are easily on par with some of the $50-$60 ones. It has an enhanced bass definition, clear mids and highs, and volume that goes up pretty loud without distorting the sound. I was VERY impressed with a sound!!! Again, it's not fair to compare these with audiophile headphones that cost over $100, but for $8.99 these sound too good to be true. Also, with a proper size eartips, they provide a good passive noise isolation, and don't forget you get in-line remote with multi-function button and mic for making calls!
Both of these Awei in-ear headphones sound good, have fantastic built quality, and eye catching designs. I will give ES900i an advantage in sound quality and a more modern design with a flat style cable and also in-line remote with mic and multi-function button. Overall, I definitely recommend both, especially ES900i which I found to have a very impressive sound quality.
Thanks for the detailed review. Actually I am using now the earphones which I got with my galaxy s2. But I am not satisfied with that. I want something better. I need a better earphones with MIC. I searched a lot but couldn't find a cheap good earphones with microphone. I don't like the dollar one to five things.
I found this one on TinyDeal.

Good question. First of all, I'm not familiar with TinyDeal, is that a Russian site? I see their original currency is listed in rubles and most of the review comments in russian. With that said, those reviews are actually very positive I get a lot of stuff from DX.com which I had only success with, and as a matter of fact they have the whole Syllable page in there: http://dx.com/s/syllable
Now, "Syllable" brand is a name used for "almost real" beats by dre headphone products You can just go to amazon and look up Beats Tour to see what I'm talking about. Pretty much every headphone set on that syllable page above will "remind" you of something you have seen before for 5x-6x time the price With all that said, you can make "almost real" looking product, but the sound quality can't be duplicated. I don't have experience of listening to real Tour or "syllable" version of it to make a judgment. I did read hundreds of comments on amazon about the real Tour giving it 2stars comment because of an awful quality in general (too much bass, hollow sound, no mids or highs). So if "syllable" version uses the same drivers as Awei version - they might sound better than a real thing
Right now I see that dx.com has that particular syllable G03-03 version listed as currently sold out. But they also have some other over the ear headphone version which look pretty good, although priced anywhere from $50 to $140 (which could be a bargain when you compare these to beats $150 to $350 versions).. But I can't comment about their sound quality just by looking at or reading other people's comments. I will contact DX.com guys and see if I can review a few of these headphones.
Bottom line, at the current moment I can only voucher for Awei version I reviewed and can strongly recommend ES900i. Syllable versions - I will try to review.
Thanks once again for the reply. I have seen the thread about Syllable in dx.com. But that model which I pointed is out of stock. I couldn't see any Syllable model from dollar 50 to 150...
What do you think about this model?
http://dx.com/p/awei-ts-130vi-stere...-w-line-control-microphone-black-white-237048
As it has volume control also. The price is little more at 14 dollars.
Let me tell you that I am completely novice in this business. Your cooperation will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Okay just got them
Review:
When putting on the earbuds it sat very comfortable ,steady and very thight in the ear, so I couldn't wait and opened a song.(no EQ or whatsoever)
The sound is just outstanding and full it has great bass but not bloated the clarity is also very good, I owned an other pair of earbuds from DealExtreme (kanen km92) and they are just garbage when comparing it to this one. I never expected this sound of this price, a while ago I had earbuds of 10€ (soundlogic WoW) which is nothing compared to this one.
So I can recommend this product with whole my heart
TIP: if you want awei earbuds with microphone for less money than on DX Go to geekbuying.com, take a look at there just in case

Got my AWEI ES900i !!!
Hey all .
I also bought
AWEI ES900i
from ebay for ~9$
and after 1 month of usage im very satisfied from the quality of sound they produce!!
recommended for buying !
I had awei es900i. I was very happy with the sound quality but they gave up after 5 months which was so disappointing for me. Sound stopped coming from one side and then another. Does anybody has same issue as if they can go for 1 year I am ready to purchase another one

For $8+ with a decent sound quality and 5 months of continuous use - I would say, you got your money worth I read a lot of posts from people having problems with their $500 in-ear headphones some of which don't even have a removable cable to replace. When you deal with headphones under $10, and if you like their sound, just get a bunch since most of their value goes into a driver rather than quality of materials (or in your case - wire attachment to the earpiece).
Vectron always gives good reviews so I ordered both of these headphones along with this OBDII Bluetooth Auto Car Diagnostic Scan Tool http://deals.dx.com/team.php?sku=311835...I have wanted to try one of these for a while but they are always $50 or more. My whole order was only $23 so I can't complain.
How long does it take DX to ship?

Thanks, I try to review product at both side of the price spectrum If it's a junk, I don't even mention it. You do have to be realistic that $8 headphones will not sound as good as $100 under a deep analysis, but if you are not a picky audiophile - these will be great, and will sound as good as other stuff for $25-$30. Btw, Deal Extreme gets their products directly from a factory and sells pretty cheap. A lot of ebay/amazon resellers buy it in bulk from them and re-sell at a premium price. If you are willing to wait for a shipment - you will get the same stuff at a discounted price. Regarding shipment wait time, it varies. Could take anywhere from 2-3 weeks.
