Galaxy Gear ring and vibrate even if the phone is in blocking mode - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hi,
I was wondering if I'm the only one but I noticed a pretty annoying bug (or at least it looks like it is). Let say you have the Blocking Mode setup on your phone (S4, S3 or Note ) from say 10PM to 7AM then no notifications will ring on the phone, in fact the phone is silent. This is awesome and let me sleep in peace (I work in a global company where my inbox never stop to ring) but the Galaxy Gear is still getting notifications and ring/vibrate which is terribly annoying. You have to either manually put it to "Vibrate" and then remove the watch (Unfortunately I feel when It vibrates during the night and it wakes me up) or you have to simply switch off the watch.
Anybody have the same problem? Known workaround?

You know I always assumed that it would work exactly the way you imagined it would; so in fact I was finding it funny the Pebble needed a "Do not Disturb" mode. But, after your post I found the same problem as yours; blocking mode is not respected.
One idea I can think of is to stop the Sync at night, or change the e-mail checking time in non-priority hours if you are using the native E-mail client. Can't think of anything else; perhaps it's time Samsung opened up the development for the watch so people can start coding these kind of apps.

Right but then I need to turn off SMS, GMail and so forth. Well I hope the SDK will be public because so far the apps are not great . In the meantime I will switch it off .

Turning off Sync should turn off all apps like Gmail that respect that feature; as for SMS, I have no idea how you can block that
My hunch is Samsung is about to push quite a few apps very soon, because there are a number of gear manager updates now. It's rather unfortunate that for the powerful hardware the gear is, the software is the biggest road-block. Open the SDK, Samsung guys!

Could you not set up tasker to automaticly cut your bt/sync between those same hours? Which should stop the texts/calls etc? Im not sure because Iv'e not used it before and don't get my gear for another week, but its something I will need to get working aswel

Tasker or any such app should kill the sync but blocking the calls and sms isn't straight forward. Now, that I am typing this in perhaps one could switch to Airplane mode in the night to block everything.
However, I would prefer the way the blocking mode works, ringing only for calls in my contacts for emergency and block everything else during the night. My original idea was to sleep with the watch on for such things, but the vibration is not strong enough to wake me and it's unlikely it would wake anyone..

Notice this issue on day one of the release, I have been hoping that an update would have fixed this by now, but no such luck. I just turn my gear to vibrate at night and set it on a cloth as to not vibrate on the nightstand.

What about setting the gear to mute? I think this also stops notifications coming through?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

This isn't a big deal. Press and hold home, double tap the volume button to go from Sound >> Vibrate >> Mute. Done. Reverse in the morning. Takes 1-2 seconds.

This has to be installed on the gear?

Yes.
You can use the adb install command.
It works well.

HOWTO enable swap
First you need a terminal emulator this can be downloaded for free in the android market.
You can use cd to change directory and ls to show all folders and files.
Navigate to the place where the swapfile is located (mmcard) and type swapon swapfile.
reboot
Turn off locks screen when holding red call button
Spare parts>End button behaviour>Nothing

I also get this issue.
Seems that the first time you download something, it wont work, it will get stuck on "Starting Download", and it doesn't come up in the notifications.
Just restart the phone and boot android again then second or third time it will eventually work.
This also happens if you press install then your 3G connection drops out (went through a tunnel) and even when u get a siginal again, it just sits there on "Starting" so you have to cancel it and start it again.
But with the one via WiFi and browsing the market and everything else works, just restart the phone and boot android again, and it should automatically start the download. If not, just go back into the marketplace then go to the "Downloads" section and start it again.
Its a bit annoying.

The new release is very nice, slick and stable. My major problem is the same, backlight can't be turned off and thus battery used up quickly. Hope this can be fixed soon.
Another related problem is the battery seems not charged under Android, I charged it overnight, quick get warning of low battery just after using it for 10 min.
Even so, still a very good job, thank you.

battery charge sensor doesn't work properly in xperia android, so just because android is reporting low battery doesn't mean your battery is actually low

Code:

4. go to conf/ and delete eclair.user.conf, then rename eclair.user.conf~ to eclair.user.conf. That will disable the swapfile.

When I'm using a swap file, it get faster right?
swapfile makes android slower, but it increases available memory

want to setup a rigid alarm system

here is the case , i want to get up early morning but cannot , so i figured out that i will use puzzle alarm clock with some nfc tags and will be able to get up early since nfc tags are placed very far from bed . the routine was working fine but then one day i deleted the app in the morning and now every morning instead of getting up i delete the app and go back to sleep . To solve this problem i decided that i will find a app that assigns a password to delete this app and he password will be set by my friend so i dont know the password and i cannot delete the app , but then i started to switching of my phone in the morning and i cannot solve this . so if anyone can help me with this .i would prefer to get a password given to the app and power button so that neither can be deleted to switched off .

How would you hear it?
He could set up a Z-Wave network in his home with some motion detectors and a 120 db siren hidden in the attic.
The siren would be triggered when the motion detectors does not detect movement in the house (OP sleeping) at some specific time in the morning. He could then use a NFC tag with Tasker to send an intent to his Z-Wave network to shut the siren but that NFC tag would be located 1/4 mile away from his home to be 100% sure he's awake. If the tag is not scanned fast enough with his phone, the z-wave network could trigger a pellet stove igniter screwed in a gallon of kerosene hidden under his bed.
or he could go to bed earlier.
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
This is hilarious.
Up all night on XDA.
If your phone is rooted, you can mess with files in a way that causes the alarm uninstall to fail. This might work (but might also break your system if you try to uninstall it):
- Change the alarm to a system app (a pain to uninstall)
- Use the shell command "chattr +i /system/app/YourAlarmApp.apk". This means it can't be removed or changed. (It also means you may need to reformat /system next time you want to flash a custom ROM.)
But you really need to grow up. I can't help with how to do that, but this is a phone, not a hand grenade. There will always be a way to disarm it. I made a personal rule that I will always turn off my alarm in a normal way (dismiss/snooze), never using tricks to quickly silence it when it's supposed to be ringing. You just need to stop trying to sabotage your own good intentions.

3°) Go in now in My Services to select what services (apps) you would like to use. In most of cases you will have to enter an API Key/Token that is given to you when you install the app. (For example : Newtifry gives you an API Key whe you create an account on their website)
Click on add a service to select the app you are going to use on the receiving device
The list of all the supported apps and services appears select the one you want to use !
Here we are going to use Newtifry as it is free and compatible with Android ! (You have to create an account with the service ou want to get the API Key or Token)
4°) When it’s done go to the « My Scenarios » webpage
Here you will select what apps the notifications will be sent to when the notification is received by pushingbox
Give a name to the scenario and click on add scenario
Click on add an action to create a new one (You have to add as many actions as many devices you want to send the notification simultaneously)
Select the service you created before
It asks for the title and message of the notification you want to send to the devices.
If you put $application$ for the title and $texte$ for the message you will receive the app and content of the original notification
5°) Get your Server Address (Address+Dev ID) and write it in your iPhone settings
It should look like this : http://api.pushingbox.com/pushingbox?devid=v0123456789ABCDE with v0123456789ABCDE being your device ID
You can get your devID in the My Scenarios webpage next to the scenario you set before.
6°) You can now enjoy your notification on all your devices! ☺
Don’t hesitate to follow me on Twitter (@enyouns) and RT !

Use phone diealer when AA connected

Is it possible to use your phone dialer (using the phone itself) while AA is connected? I have alot of contact shortcuts on my screen for direct dial, but my Mate 20 pro dosnt let me use my phone for making calls while it ist connected to Audi MMI via Android Auto. Like it is blocking the dialer app.
It takes me 1 sek. to make a call when I'm using my phone screen to do this, but when I use cars screen to make a call in AA, it takes ages. And I'm faaaar more distracted from the road then when I'm searching contact on my cars display. So please any advice how to do this?
Did you try to disable "Lock phone while driving" in AA settings?

Hm... I'll try to download google phone (or some other dialer app) and give it a try. It could be a problem in Huaweis dialer app then. Not happy with it anyway. Samsung has the bes dialer app there is, exactly what I need. Tried to find some port for my Mate 20 pro, but no luck...
I don't think your problem is related to your phone dialer, as I understood, you can't reach your phone's screen during driving with AA in service. Are you able to get to other apps during driving? Usually this is forbidden for safety reasons. I'm even astonished that there is such a setting in AA, but probably this is provided for the case when the passenger is using the phone.

Well I tried using Viber to place a call, and it kind of worked (call was placed, but active call wasnt shown on my screen), so I hat to close Viber from (swipe it from recent apps) to end the call. Other thing I tried is google maps and that also doesnt want to open. Just like the dialer.
Screen itself works on the phone, but seems the apps dont. At least those that are also awailable on AA. I'll try your suggestion to en/disable lock phone option.
For me it is far les risky to tape once on my phone for something I need, like copyng a phone number, direkt dial etc., then to try to find a way to do that on my car screen or to disconnect the USB cable each time...

One more suggestion/question: why don't you try to use voice command to dial numbers? The process is not so fast, especially if there is more than one number defined for each of the contacts you need to call, but it works fine. Just say "Call nnnnn (name of contact as saved in your contacts)". You could make new contacts with only nicknames and one single phone number for all the contacts you need to call during driving, in order to shorten the voice dialing process.

Problem is that I work alot with foregn customers, so it doesnt recognize a German or Croatian name. Also, when a client calls, they mostly have few numbers in their office so I get alot of calls from new numbers during a day. And that is my problem... Or my office sends me a mail that a customer called and I must call back on that and that number. It is impossible to use anything but the phone screen to do all that.
I see. In that case I think I can't help you further. I hope you'll find a solution finally, but before anything, be safe when driving and keep others on the road safe also.

I see you again with your "dialer issue" in separate thread here
I have two points:
- testing Google Maps as a app to be run when the phone is connected to Android Auto head unit is not good idea as this app is controlled via Google Services to be locked for AA only then
- your issue with dialer is probably related to Huawei dialer so try to use the Google Dialer. I know you tried with some dialer but remember that it should be patched. You can try to use one of these dialers:

Hope it helps. Good luck.

Yes, I'm looking for an answer since this way it is difficult to do my job. I do a lot from my car and I try to be efficient. I also save addresses in my google maps on the phone when I'm in office, but now I see when maps are in AA you have no option to see "labeled" things. You can search it by name and it will show, but that means I need to keep everything in my head. But when you save "Warehouse B+S Koblenz" and you have many similar names in your head, it isn't easy. Thank you very much for the dialers. Do you perhaps know if it is possible to port Samsungs Dialer to Huawei Mate 20 pro? I receive daily 20+ phonecalls from unknown numbers (clients) and samsungs dialer shows "contact history" when you receive a call (e.g. it shows a preview of a last message from that number or when was the last call made, all while your phone rings). And for me that was helpful since I knew if that number called me yesterday or 30 days ago. Also, Huawei only shows Country from where the number is coming from, Samsung showed a City name. End when I see Berlin or Frankfurt, I know which client it may be. But when I see "Germany" it doesn’t tell me anything

Sorry I know nothing about Samsung Dialer port project.
First of all try to overcome first basic obstacle (using phone dialer when the AA is connected). So, try to install the Google Dialer and check if it works for you. If you get the satisfactory result it will be a first step and then you can think about next level

Google Keyboard and Censoring Bad Language

Google Voice Typing and Censorship of my potty mouth.. So I have all of the settings configured to not block offensive language on both the Google keyboard settings and the Google voice typing settings within language and input on my Pixel 4. Is there a setting I'm missing because every time I say a curse word I still get the crazy asterisks
Note 10 plus too lol can't stop it , shows bad words in voice assistant tho

Did you disable it in the text correction sections of the Gboard app? I had to re enable it and disable it to get it to work.
I'm cursing just fine here. [emoji23]

Omg this is happening to me now too. For years I've had no problem and now it's censoring my curse words. I disabled options that block curse words in both texting and voice text through Gboard but it still replaces curse words with ***
Since changing the options do not give a different result my assumption is this is somehow server side with Google
Oddly enough as you get older you tend to like cursing less and less, at least as a crutch instead of actually having a vocabulary. Still sometimes nothing quite works as well as a proper curse; an interesting tidbit is that the one that starts with F is the word most taken from the English language and used by others in their language with OK as a distant number 2. All that being said I'd try adding them to the dictionary, this got it working for me although it's kind of a work around. Not that I curse. Ok, maybe a little here and there...

I'm still not being blocked it's gotta be a phone setting... Did you disable it through the Google app as well?
odd, never thought this block offensive words was mainly for voice typing, but now that I tried it, it's f****** censoring my s*** too! this f****** sucks!! definitely has to be a bug unless Google's gotten soft like people these days

Clear your app data and try again. I would post a screenshot or video recording of all the curses I was just able to do perfectly fine but I don't want to get in trouble on the forums. [emoji23]

Cleared app data completely and set it up from scratch and it's still censoring. It's really annoying and inconvenient but also I'm glad this is the only problem I've had with my pixel. Some people have had much bigger and worse issues. I hope whatever it is does get sorted soon.
You have to disable it in the Google App under voice and then under Gboard as well. Under Gboard it's under text correction, unselect Block offensive words and it works now.

Yup have both ticked to the off position. Also, I was saying earlier how I've had this phone for months and it worked without problems for the majority of my ownership of the phone and I haven't changed any Gboard options since setting the phone up but it just all of a sudden one day decided it was going to start censoring everything. Annoying AF
I had it randomly start doing this. Toggling the censorship on and back off didn't work. Clearing data for gboard and setting everything up again did fix it. Back to freedom of speech.

The fix is to disable Faster Voice Typing

I am not going to read all of the threads in here, but the culprit seems to be Faster Voice Typing. Turn it off and things should be ****ing wonderful for you again. Seems to have started around April 20, 2020. Again, make sure you have "Block Pottymouth Words" disabled, and I think there are like three places you'll need to check.
