[KERNEL] (013) KK442 GSM(3.4+ Hybrid/OC/Intelliplug/active/FauxSound)[08-02-2014] - Moto G Original Android Development

Moto G Hybrid Kernel
What is a Hybrid?
Hybrid kernel means the core although still has the 3.4.0 kernel label, it has incorporated many advanced features available only on Linux 3.8+ and beyond. I have backported many of those advanced features for Linux 3.4, hence the name hybrid!

No, I've asked Moto already and they said they are in Xmas shutdown and the source for KK won't be available until next year. You can back up your boot.img and give it a shot, if not then restore.

You specify US GSM, are there issues with other variants?

No idea. I only tested with us gsm because that's what I have. You can try on other variants and give feedback here since I can't tested them myself. Make sure you backup first

Installed via CWM Recovery. Working fine on XT1032. Thanks so much for this faux123. Merry Christmas

Wow of all people never expect you to make a kernel for us!!! Very happy. I'm going to flash back to 4.3 just to run this!!! Thank you

Thanks :victory:

Faux, can you say if the Moto G hardware would ever support doubletap2wake or sweep2wake?

Works perfectly on a German retail XT1032
Thanks!

I wonder if we can correct the blueish screen with this kernel. Then we'd have a perfect screen.

can you add this to your github?

What a Christmas gift... Ty so much faux

I can't believe I am using a faux kernel like I did and do on my nexus devices on the moto g. It really starts to get fun! And I thought I downgraded....

The way I see it, this device is dev friendly with the cheap price tag. Its a "might as well" device. Unlockable boot loader on a moto device is where its at. I've had many moto devices and the hardware is always well put together.

This is a custom kernel based on LG D802 source.
More features will be added soon.
Features:
* Compiled with Linaro toolchain 4.8.2
The kernel isn't pre lokified so it needs a recovery that has built-in loki support (for now you can use my twrp build):

I'm guessing this doesn't work on the Verizon version right? But either way I love that people are liking this phone.
Thank you
I just dumped an emmc of the D803 kernel off my device. If I upload it, could you maybe take a look and see if there are any glaring differences? Maybe it is just a few changes to allow it to work?
Coming from a nexus 4,my biggest problem is there is literally no dev support. Thanks for taking a step towards dev

I'm guessing the hardware is nearly identical on all G2 versions except the korean one.
But yes, if you could provide a boot.img (and aboot.img for loki support) from a different device version i could check for compatiblity.
You have added algin novelty to the kernel, everything works correctly.
Great job, encourage and forth ....
Thanks for the development
Sorry by my english!!!
Here is a boot.img for the D800, which is ATT version. Is this what you needed or do I need to do something special to it?

Not Working
This is not working on D802 for me. If it helps, I have a D802B.
I tried on both TWRP 2.6.3.0 and TWRP 2.6.3.2, both show a boot error due to certificate verify. Bummer! Was stoked to have a custom kernel finally!
@Heatshiver
This is (for now) only working with a recovery that has built-on loki support; as the provided kernel needs to patched on the flashing process.
It must show something like:
[+] Detected target International LG G2 build D802b
[+] Loki validation passed, flashing image.
[+] Loki flashing complete!

I am confused then. As I used your recovery and another without success... I simply rebooted into recovery, flashed the zip, then rebooted. Is there a step I'm missing?

I updated my recovery a day ago, maybe u are using an older version that has no loki support yet.

@Wootever that was exactly the issue. Any chance you can update thread with what features/benefits this kernel provides over stock?
There isn't much added yet. However im planning to clean up the code base a bit and merge it with the latest caf msm8974 revision (qualcomm kernel repository), then i will add more features from faux kernel (fauxsound, intellidemand, uv/oc, etc).

A little over the top...maybe. But I don't blame him for feeling that way, it's annoying when people constantly complain about no dev support when a) they don't step up to the plate and do it themselves, or b) they have no idea if there is actually devs or not (which we have a good amount of even though they are fully active on the thread yet, cooking a Rom doesn't take two days you know ;-P).

This rules that this has been ported, as I use the PhilzTouch on my Galaxy Tab2. I even donated a few $$ to him!
One question, with the shared kernel "feature" of the T, how did you avoid having it revert back to stock CWMrecovery anytime one flashes a new ROM?
Regardless, I'll try this out tonight.
Hey i always wanted this to get ported! Im using the leaked 4.3 rom and it does work but it only boots into the recovery everytime. Is this a bug or is there a way to fix this?

So how do I go about installing this?
Is it as simple as boot the "T" into flashboot mode and running
fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot philz_touch_6.09.3-mint.img
But I'd rather not blow away my phone if this is wrong.
Can I use this for the xperia V, too ?

Is there a trick to using PhilzTouch on the T to avoid the shared kernel?
I installed it via "flashboot boot philz.img" and at first glance, it seems to work the same as on my Galaxy Tab 2.
But then it turns out that its not really useable.
a) I was unable to boot back into my normal ROM. Rebooting always brought it back to PhilzTouch.
b) Even if I could have found a way to boot my phone, it turns out that PhilzTouch recovery was overwritten by the stock recovery as soon as I installed a newer CM nightly which I tend to do nightly.
hi all
can i use for TX ? do i need UL or not ? thanks
How to install this recovery?
fastboot flash boot boot.img gives me each time a reboot in recovery
fastboot flash recovery boot.img gives me an error.
Anyone got this working?

You need Unlocked Boatloader at first!
1. install the 4.3 rom (any you like). Flashing the FTF with everything included
2. Flash this CWM recovery and install SU zip
3. flash FTF and exclude all except KERNEL.
Done! (limited time to write so made it short)

Hello, I send you video tomorrow
@steveboss where's the video?
@Phil3759
I'm having trouble to get philz to recognize the internal sdcard partition (its a real partition, not part of userdata)... what ever I try, it just keeps failing...
Do you have a possibility to build philz based on the CM10.1 or the freexperia 'jellybean' repo for this device?
I'm starting to suspect the CM10.2 repo might contain some issues as it was put together with pure CM in mind, which might make it incompatible with the stock sony JB4.3 kernel...
The Xperia T made a jump from JB4.1.2 to JB4.3 in one step up, receiving it only a month or so ago, while the CM10.2 repo has been around for far longer...
The 'original' locked bootloader package has made the same jump up recently and CWM started causing problems for it's users too.

This is the stock kernel LRX22C but with @stratosk's Double Tap to Wake added.
Nothing else added or taken away
Only available for Nexus 4.
Only tested with stock ROM, others may not work.
Enable DT2W with Trickster Mod
Flash dt2w_boot.img in bootloader

Good effort. I think world seems to have forgotten s2w which was my favorite! And its not available in any modern kernels ( even if listed it doesn't work). Any works on that?

Thanks. I too liked @bponury's Slide to wake from Touch Control but the source isn't available anywhere. As far as I'm aware other versions of S2W had problems.
Can u also build a stock kernel but with gamma colors added only?
Would be greatful if u can have time to do that
Without DT2W or S2W only gamma colors from Faux or Franco..

It would be better to use the GCC 4.7 toolchain in that case because it is more optimised and is the one used in the actual stock kernel. Also, if you need help for your guide, I can help you.
Ok I'll do a 'Guide' thread and post a link here - it will take a few days. I'll have a look at using the suggested toolchain - thanks for the offer of help - I may need it.
i flashed this kernel and result in bootloop argggggggg now i have to flash this rom again n i m going to loose all my data
is there any thing i can do with it to avoid this
EDIT - problem solved i flashed rom without wiping data but this kernel is not working for me
I've only tested it with the stock ROM, which one are you using? I'll edit the op to include this.

I faced the exact same situation that you faced while starting with the kernel. It's very very hard at first but once you get familiar with all the git, cherry-pick stuff, it will be so awesome. As @zaclimon suggested you can use the STOCK toolchain if you want to stay close to STOCK or you can use THIS toolchain(2014.12 4.9.3) and THIS COMMIT which ensures you will not run into any compile errors regarding toolchain.

[MOD]Unofficial MultiROM v33 - Galaxy Tab 10.1

Unofficial MultiROM for Galaxy Tab 10.1
MultiROM gives your device the ability to install and boot multiple Android ROMs, or even other Linux based operating systems alongside each other. The primary component of MultiROM is a boot manager, which appears every time your device starts and lets you choose ROM to boot.
Features
Multiboot as many Android ROMs as you want
Restore custom recovery backups as secondary ROMs
Dual-boot alternative operating systems (Ubuntu Touch, Firefox OS, Arch Linux) alongside Android, without formatting your device
Install and boot from USB drives connected by OTG cables (on supported devices)
WARNING
This whole thing is basically one giant hack - none of these systems are made with multibooting in mind. While MultiROM no longer messes with the data partition or boot sector, it is possible that something goes wrong and you will have to flash factory images again.
Make backups. Always.

Introduction
MultiROM uses a kernel feature called kexec which enables the host ROM to live boot another kernel over the currently running kernel. This allows us to boot into secondary ROMs. The host ROM must be a ROM running a kernel with the kexec-hardboot feature. .
Installation
There are three parts required to install MultiROM.
MultiROM bootloader/injector
- Download the appropriate Multirom installer for you device
Modified TWRP
- Download the appropriate Multirom TWRP for your device
Patched kernel
- You must be using a host ROM a with a kernel that has the kexec-hardboot patch.
Install the Multirom TWRP
(twrp2860_multirom-yyyymmdd-p4xxxx.zip)
Reboot into Multirom recovery
Install the host ROM
Option 1
Install AOSP 5.1.1 or AOSP 6.0
Option 2
Install an Android 4.1 to 4.4 ROM
Download the kexec hardboot kernel for Android 4.1 to 4.4 ROMs
(p4[wifi|tmo]-kernel-*-for-android_4.1-4.4.zip)
Install the kexec hardboot kernel
Install the MultiROM bootloader/injector
(multirom-yyyymmdd-vxx-UNOFFICIAL-p4xxxx.zip)
Adding secondary ROMs
Boot into recovery
Go to Advanced > MultiROM > Add ROM
Select the ROM ZIP file to install
Reboot and select the ROM to boot
Flashing ZIPs to secondary ROMs
Boot into recovery
Go to Advanced > MultiROM > List ROMs
Select a ROM
Go to Flash ZIP
Select a ZIP to flash
Host ROMs with native kexec hardboot support
aosp-5.1.1
aosp-6.0
Questions & Answers and other notes
* What secondary ROMs are supported?
Supported: Android 4.1 (Jellybean) and up
NOT Supported: Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich / ICS) and Android 3 (Honeycomb) * The MultiROM Manager app will not work with this device since it is unofficial port.
* You cannot install Linux/Ubuntu or any other non-Android OSes because none have been ported to this device.
The ROMs that will work are the ones that we already have available for this device.
* Encryption has not been tested and is unlikely to work.
Known Issues:
* Volume keys aren't working in the bootloader (Trampoline).

hwcomposer 1.0
p75xx-hwcomposer_1_0.zip
This is a little bonus for all you faithful users. This is a standalone installer of hwcomposer 1.0. This is meant to be used with Android 4.1 - 4.4 ROMs. It will work on any Android 4.1 - 4.4 ROM for this device. It should make the 2D interface smoother.
Do NOT use it on Android 5.x or 6.x. These ROMs are already using a version of this hwcomposer.
Do NOT use it on Android 4.0.4 (ICS) or Android 3 (Honeycomb). hwcomposer 1.0 is not compatible with these versions of Android.
All hail decatf lol.
Question, the secondary ROM doesn't have to have the kesec-hardboot feature right?

kexec-hardboot wasn't enabled properly on the p4 and p4tmo 20150620 ROM. I've uploaded the standalone kernel installer in the second post.
Install it on your primary ROM and it should be able to boot into secondary ROMs.
Finally i can use both android 5.1 and 4.3 . Thanks alot decatf, you have brough a new life to this tab since android 5.0

This is awesome! Works great on my p4tmo. I'm using it with two versions of your 5.1 AOSP rom, one without gapps (my daily driver) and one with gapps (secondary; mainly for the social media apps).
A word of warning: If you flash the v2 SELinux enforcing zip on the secondary rom and then boot to it, the OS won't be able to see/access internal storage and a lot of things will crash/force close. If it's running under Permissive mode, things work fine. I'd prefer to be running under Enforcing mode as well on the secondary rom, but I won't complain. Just being able to dual-boot in the first place is fantastic.

Is this forum to be seen as an extension to your aosp thread, where the images keep being updated to support MultiRom and do the discussion here? Or are there any special in-between patches, libraries and so forth only to be found here? I am not entirely sure how to see this thread in relation to your aosp thread.
Pleaseenlighten me, as I am an avid fan and have been using your rom from day 5 (or so).

But you have to agree there is quite some overlap, as the latest TWRP and Rom, both supporting MultiRom can be downloaded from the aosp thread. So this thread is really more of an add-on discussing issues and solutions on the MultiRom part of the p4xxxx set-up of what @decatf is doing.
Separate question: is MultiRom also going to be supported or implementable in M?

The recovery in this thread is the custom MultiROM TWRP. It is a recovery that has customizations to support MultiROM. The recovery in the AOSP thread is just regular TWRP. I have also posted the kexec-hardboot kernel in this thread. The third thing required is the MultiROM installer itself. There is nothing special in the primary ROM that is needed for MultiROM.
Want to know if I could run your 5.1.1 rom on here with partition warning from the rom

Both versions of TWRP use the extra partition. You must install the Multirom TWRP in this thread in order to use Multirom. The normal TWRP does not have Multirom support.
Edit: So, yes the AOSP 5.1.1 ROM will work.
...
Does this allow you to run the original Stock 4.0.4 on a P7510 along side your 5.1.1 ROM? And, if so, does anyone have a flashable copy of the stock?
Thanks

[Sprint/Virgin Mobile Moto G 2015

Stock 6.0.1 Marshmallow ROM

I have not fully tested this ROM. Testers would be great to ensure proper functionality and to report any potential bugs in my flashable zip. I have installed the ROM tentatively to ensure successful booting.
{Note: This ROM is confirmed to work on Sprint's 4G/LTE Network, & both the Virgin Mobile USA & Virgin Mobile Data Done Right Networks}

DISCLAIMER: As always, flashing any ROM -- stock or custom -- is done at your own discretion, prerogative & inherent risk. If you blame me for bricking your device I'll laugh at you whilst spitting my Redman Chew into an old rusted Folgers Coffee can.
The following download link is for the most recent build of Stock 6.0.1 Marshmallow for the Sprint compatible xt1548 Moto G 2015 variants. Again, this ROM is a pure stock build. It has not been pre-rooted, debloated, etc. Although minimal, the baked in bloatware apps are included. This ROM is in TWRP flashable zip format. You will need an unlocked bootloader and a current version of TWRP custom recovery for Osprey. (Preferably, @squid2's TWRP v3.0.2-r5 should be installed) Guys be sure and hit the Thanks button on Squid2's thread (link below) for his hard work and developments skills on these great TWRP builds for our Moto G3 devices.
INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: In the event that you have never updated your Partition Index, Modem and Radio Firmware to 6.0.1 Marshmallow, it is highly recommended you flash my Updater.zip from the below link prior to proceeding further. I cannot say with certainty that it is absolutely necessary, I strongly recommend doing so for optimal performance and improved network signal strength/speed. Once your Partition Index has been updated, there is no reverting it back to its prior configuration. That's not a negative thing, but I wanted to articulate it nonetheless. This also does not mean that you can't downgrade your stock ROM at a later time. (Just avoid flashing gpt.bin in the firmware package to which you wish to downgrade. Also avoid bootloader.img when downgrading stock firmware.)
1. Download the 6.0.1 ROM from the link below and place the zip file on either an external micro SD card, or on the internal storage of your device;
2. Boot into TWRP recovery by first powering your device OFF. Then, hold the Power & Volume Down buttons simultaneously for 3 - 5 seconds. Release both buttons when the Bootloader Menu appears on screen. Use the Volume Up or Down buttons to navigate to the "RECOVERY MODE" option, then press Power to select. Should you need guidance or detailed instructions on installing TWRP custom recovery, refer to the below link for @squid2's TWRP thread, which provides a comprehensive tutorial on installing TWRP on your device, as well as a Downloads Tab, where all of @squid2's TWRP builds can be found.
3. Make a full NANDROID backup in TWRP before proceeding with this installation;
4. Perform a full wipe (Dalvik/ART, System, Data & Cache. (Be mindful to not wipe Internal Storage in the event your flashable zip is stored there). Select Reboot then Recovery. (Sometimes necessary for /data to properly mount after wiping);
5. In your TWRP Main Menu, select INSTALL, navigate to the location of your flashable zip, select it, and swipe to commence with the install. TWRP will flash your device with the stock boot image and stock Android OS. Wait until the TWRP progress window indicates "Done";
6. Wipe Dalvik/ART & Cache
7. Select Reboot, then System
8. Allow up to 12 minutes for the initial boot. Subsequent boots will occur much quicker;
9. Should you want superuser access on this stock ROM, download @Chainfire's SuperSU v2.79 from the below link. Download the flashable zip version from the OP & flash it via TWRP subsequent to successfully flashing the stock ROM. Be sure to hit the Thanks button on @Chainfire's thread for his superb work in keeping us Android enthusiasts rooted.
10. Eat Right, Live Wrong, & Prosper.

Can you please make such for xt1557 dual sim indian version? and if you don't plz make an updater script for twrp for xt1557 (moto g3 turbo)
Sorry guys on the ROM link.. I have several requests for access on my Gmail. I have temporarily disabled sharing because I'm editing my binary updater script a little more. It'll be back online very shortly.
Uploading the edited files now. Be back up in about half an hour.

Making a TWRP flashable zip ROM for your device would be tough since I don't own that variant. If you can get a system folder and stock boot image ready for a zip, I could probably lend a hand on the updater script in META-INF.

I can't make a proper Nandroid via TWRP because I don't own that variant of the Moto G3. If you or one of your acquaintances who owns your variant can send me a Nandroid backup of the /system partition (system.ext4.win), I can provide the stock boot.img and the META-INF with Updater Script.

I will see what I can do. The ROM will need a couple of testers who own the device. I'll get a copy of the original Toolchain source code to try and modify the modified build back to mostly stock. The January 1, 2017 security patches can be implemented in as well.
You will find many Moto g XT 1550 tester here sir...don't worry...will it be a volte enabled or not?

If you want. I can leave that as an option for the end user, and provide an optional zip & patch for Volte support.
Okay sir...and may I able to update this rom when new security patch is available?
