Three hours ago I was just using my XZ to look up something for GTA V and then I pressed the power button. After playing for about 30 mins, I tried to press the power button and it wont turn on. So I tried rebooting it but nothing happens. I charged it for about an hour and still nothing happen and the LED doesnt being light up. When I press the power button + volume up I could feel the vibrate and if I keep on continuing on hold both button i will feel it vibrate for three times. While Im charging it, the phone doesnt cool down like it stays warm. I just got this phone on September. Help please!!!
EDIT: I also tried connecting it on my PC but my PC doesnt even detect it. I wanted for 30 mins while it's plugged in and nothing happens

How do I do that?

First of all, when you repair your phone with Sony Update service, you will lose all your data!!!
- Charge your phone for 2 to 3 hours, you will only see the black screen but, it should charge.
- Download Sony Update Service, install and open.
- Choose XZ in the list.
- Plug in the data cable in your computer.
- Press and hold POWER and VOL+ button, phone will vibrate once, keep holding both buttons and you will feel 3 vibrations. Now, immediately press and hold the VOL- DOWN(-) button and plug in the data cable into your phone. Your phone should get detected by SEUS and then just repair it. If it doesn't get detected, try again.
Hope this helps

[Q] Wont turn on, No LED

I'm running a rooted phone with Venom Rom and TWRP. Last night I decided it would be a good idea to make a backup of my phone. So I restarted to recovery using the option in Venom and then made a backup in twrp. When it was done, I rebooted my phone and it got stuck at the HTC startup screen. I reset it and this time once the screen went black, it stayed black. Now I cannot turn it on no matter how long I hold the power button for and the charging led does not turn on when its plugged in. When I plug the phone into a pc, the pc will me the connected noise but I cannot get to the files or anything. I tried removing my sim card and I still cant boot up. Any ideas?

What do you mean while connecting/disconnecting? I plugged my phone into the pc and held the power and volume button and all it did was play the connect and disconnect noise several times.
EDIT: So I think i just fixed it, I held the power button and both volume buttons down for 7 minutes and it finally turned on, but it is showing 5% battery, even though when it shut off it had 40%

See, the same thing happened to me sometime back.. What I did was shine a flashlight on the light sensor while holding the power+vol down buttons, that didn't seem to work
Then what I did was hold the button combination for around 10secs till the buttons below the screen flash, then connect it to your pc while keeping the combination pressed... Eventually your phone lights should stop blinking and you should boot to hboot..

Good, now charge the phone till 100 and let it discharge completely before charging it back to 100.. This should recalibrate the battery, and should start giving you the right percentages..

Completely bricked Xperia Z

I was just playing around trying to move apps onto my new micro sd card. I rebooted several times. But suddenly when I rebooted one more time, the screen turned black. It was supposed to reboot into recovery (CWM). So I tried to turn it on again. Nothing happened. I also tried to press power button + vol up. Nothing happened. No light when charging either. I really really really need some help

Does your phone vibrate when you press power + vol up? Can you get it into flashmode?
If your pc recognizes the phone as qhsusb_dload or something like qloader it's hard bricked and there's nothing left you can do..

No flashing LED, no vibrating, nothing.
I'm afraid to say this but it seems your phone is hard bricked... Try to do a rubber band across it so that the power button and vol up buttons get pressed all the time and plug it into your wallcharger. If that doesn't help bring it to your local sony service centre and let them repair it although they will very likely charge of a service fee.
Good luck mate!

Thank you, I will try that. It is really weird, the last thing I did was pressing the restart in recovery button.
I bricked my phone while trying to unlock bootloader (didnt wait for the command prompt to complete the process) and later my pc was recognizing it as qhsusb_dload. But my volume buttons were working and I used the Sony update service to restore it.

It is very possible, frequent restarts eat away alot of battery, and you never know maybe it was on while you saw a black screen thinking it was off.

Then its probably very hard bricked. You should take it to Sony and let them figure it out.

If you see a flashing blue light, when it is not plugged in, it's because the bootload was entered improperly and is in safe mode. The only way you can fix it, is to do a system wipe via Sony Companion and reinstall stock ROM. It's an Xperias way of bootlooping into a safe mode when it's locked.

Too bad Sony doesn't implement an ADB OTI. Otherwise you could flash ROMs even with factory lock and never brick it.
i am experiencing the same problem right now. hadn't touched the tablet in a couple weeks, i seem to remember turning it off because it was really low on battery and the charger wasn't near. now it is just a black rectangle.. LED never responds, charging doesn't do anything, doesn't show up on ADB or flashtool.
seems like it is some problem with the firmware or hardware since all the android devices i've owned have always charged (with the LED on) regardless of the condition of the software (hell my one x that busted open and the screen doesn't work still charges and hooks up to the computer)
i would love to get this fixed because sony tech support pretty much bent me over today.

[Q] Shutdown loop

I've already ask this question on sonymobile forum, but have no result. Trying to post it here.
I upgrade my Z1 to 4.4.2 and get the next issue.
When I switch off my phone with long press power button -> "swich off phone", its successfully shutting down but after 5-10 sec. show startup SONY logo then swich off display then show logo again and so on endlessly...
It was very unexpectedly, when I swich off Z1 and put it into pocket, after cuple of days I found it totally discharged. I cant make phone alive with wall charger and only 2-3 hours on USB charger can reanimate Z1.
I was try everything what I read no docs and forums, reflash with SUS and sony PCC, flash different versions of FTF via flashtool, boot on safe mode etc, but nothing helps
Is there software problem with shutdown loop or problem with battery controller or something else? How can I fix it? Any considerations?
P.S. Small "force shutdown" button or Power+VolUp combination sometimes helps to shutdown phone.
Power and vol+ force reboot, not shutdown, to force shutdown u need to push the tiny red button in the sim location.
I suggest you to reflash your phone with a tft file or with SUS, 4.4.2 brings many drain battery problems.

Try to start from scratch:
1. Wipe internal sdcard
2. Eject (pull out) you external sdcard
3. Re-flash FTF (don't thick anything, let it default flash configuration)
4. Don't try to restore any app or data from old firmware version.
5. Check if the problem still persist

Then maybe there is something wrong with your phone
I guess find the decision.
Enable "Developer options" enter in it and check the checkbox "don't keep activities". Shut down with power button was OK. Now waiting for autoshutdown after battery discharged.. After uncheck this options back, the problem does not appear.
I have problem like you ,i try to ask many times but no resolve.
It happened since update to 4.4
Now I need to hold power+volume up to turn off phone completely or when press reboot in the recovery

Hello. I have the same issue with my unhappy Z1. First of all, don`t use high almerage chargers, ie sony wall charger, it has 1.5A. Try to plug low amperage tools, for example try to plug phone to your computer via USB, it has 0.5A in USB2.0 and 0.9A in USB3.0. Put the phone chargeing for 1-2 hours and DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!
After that long press (5-10 sec) on small red clit (power shutdown button), and then try to power up the phone normally with power button. If all ok, left phone charge for full battery.

Xperia Z... freeze and brick?

Hey there,
So today I was using my Xperia Z aaaand bam, phone "died".
Battery was at that time 70%, phone was a little bit hot, but in scale of 1 to 10 it was like 6. I had not problems previously with it (besides broken screen that got replaced 3 weeks ago). I was playing a game then suddenly it got closed and my screen got shifted. Like Animation of horizontal menu stucked while going to vertical. I pressed power button many times, I've keept holding it for a short time, long time... nothing. Phone did not respond at all. After 10 minutes it went black. No idea if it went "sleep" or so since power button do not work again.
I tried to reset it with Power + Volume down, Power + Volume up and again, nothing.
I've tried factory reset with Sony Companion but no luck either. Phone is NOT detected by that program.
However, when I plug the phone to PC I hear sound that some device has been found. Phone is presented now as QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager. I've heard that not a good sign...
When I plug it to PC or Charger nothing happens so I have no idea if phone is getting charged or not.
What even more confusing, when I press power button - nothing, phone is COLD. But when I press Power + Volume down after a while it starts to get warm, after a long time of repeating this really warm.
Any ideas what could I do?
Thanks!

Hello, I have similar problem with my Z1. One day it just stopped. I was filming something and when I was done I putted my phone in the pocket. When I got home tried to wake my phone up but nothing happened. Tried different ways to hard reset (every key combination that were suggested in the forums) but nothing worked. When I connect the charger only the orange led light is blinking and it doesn't do anything. When I connect the phone to the PC I can hear the sound of connected device but in a second or two it disconnects and connects again and that goes again and again.
I tried the suggestion that vicmam said but it didn't work.
Pls are there any other suggestions?
P.S. When I press Vol up + Power the phone doesn't vibrate as everyone is saying it should. The phone vibrates 3 times only if it's connected to the magnetic charger and I press those keys. But still nothing changes.
try to push power button with volume up if you feel the vibration connect it to charger

Press and hold red hard reset button for 15-20 seconds and then leave phone for 24+ hours then try to connect charger. You will see faint red notification led glow.
Works for me everytime give it a try..[emoji106]
Open the back of the phone up disconnect battery with usb charger connected then plug battery back in. This works for me.
hi my phone is not turning on i put it on the charge for 6 hrs the red light is still on and i tried to let it vibrate it didnt work either what should i do ??
Press power button only and HOLD IT WITH SELLOTAPE around the phone. Leave it for a few hours and soon it will begin to charge again. It sounds stupid but read this in a forum somewhere and it works every time!
