Because it is for the Verizon phone model, it is just set up to use the T-mobile network... Read the rest of the OP the verizon phones are apparently cheaper and have built in wireless charging.

+1 I still don't understand why this wouldn't be in the T-mobile forum letting those users know they can use a Verizon phone on their network.

I think it's useful here as well as I am a Verizon user but use T-Mobile at times on my Verizon phones. none of which had fully functional Wi-Fi calling.

Thanks for this. I am one who has t-mo and Verizon and use my Verizon phones on t-mo.

This is great!, I also use my Verizon on T-Mobile , does LTE really works tho or HSPA+ ?
Been on Carbon and CM roms, Gonna try out stock thanks to this!

Um, because this is the Verizon G2 section and this rom is for the Verizon g2...its doesnt magically turn into a tmo g2 just because you run it on tmos network, although that would be nice cuz the back buttons would b easier to hit and the ugly vzw branding on the front would b gone lol. Anyways great job op its great to finally have a stock option for people that use this phone on tmo, also the lte is band 4 correct? Is that the only band tmo uses or is it more a ymmv type deal depending on your location?

Tmos LTE is all on the AWS spectrum band 4, so the VZW G2 will get LTE anywhere tmo has currently deployed it. They will eventually deploy on band 12 (years away) from the big 3 billion dollar spectrum purchase from Verizon recently. You will only get hspa+ though in only areas where they have refarmed 1900 MHz network.

you might want to re upload OP, i keep getting a corrupt zip

I was just about to ask if anyone has successfully flashed this. I would appreciate it If the zip was uploaded again as well.

Am I to understand that the Verizon G2 has support for Tmobile's LTE network but not AT&T's? Was wondering if someone could make an AT&T version to use with Straight Talk.
PS. Corrupt zip as well. WinRar states that phonesky.app is corrupt. Please re-up. Thanks.

Warranty replacement through Verizon or LG?
I don't have Verizon as a carrier.

ATT MotoX LTE Bands

Hi there...
I own a ATT MotoX and a Brazilian Vivo MotoX.
Supposedly they are the same model XT1058, but ATT and US Motorola and i think everywhere else (even so at iFixit teardown) is written that the American Moto X supports bands 2,4,5, and 17. Where the Brazilian MotoX works also with Band 7 (2600mhz... that is used in EU and South America).
I've been trying for sometime to test the ATT one with brazilian LTE, but was unsuccesful, until today when I flashed the 4.4 leaked from ATT on BOTH devices. And BOTH have LTE band 7 now.
Weird.
But Cool!
=)
I'm writing here only because i couldn't find ANY information about REAL usage of band 7 on ATT MotoX.
So anyone flying to europe or brazil, with the motoX (except T-mobile) will get coverage.
Very interesting information. Rogers Canada sells an XT1058 and they list that the phone supports band 7 LTE (2600 mhz). Rogers does use band 7 so it would make sense but the FCC(US) and IC(Canada) regulatory bodies do not list any 2600 mhz support for the XT1058. And as you mentioned the iFixit tear down shows no hardware for 2600 Mhz.
How are you able to verify 100% for certain they are using 2600 Mhz? I am assuming your provider has LTE only on 2600 Mhz?
Exactly.
And here is proof.
Vivo Brazil only works with Band 7 - 2600mhz
The weird thing is as I said before... It only started working after the 4.4 leak.
Maybe it was the modem image.
Maybe it was a problem with my LTE signal before. But to be sure, someone should try flashing the brazilian jellybean modem on a att/rogers phone.

Hi this is very interesting and important information for me especially who was looking to buy Moto X with custom back and front and that can work with the LTE Band 7 Network Provider s (e.g. Vodafone UK). Because only Roger or Brazil ones support the Band 7 but they are not customisable through Moto maker so it was a kind of disheartening me, but your experiment has certainly raised a joy and excitement and looks like dreams comes true to me. Could you please confirm if this is still the case then I can go ahead and buy the Motox from AT&T?
If possible could you provide me with the link to download the information /guide required to unlock and load the custom rom (link for that as well please) on the device, I guess i would need to add super user and , unlock the boot loader etc?
waiting eagerly for your reply and thanks in advace

Yes... you can't unlock the bootloader on the ATT MotoX...
But you don't need to.
My wife is using right now the ATT MotoX in Brazil with working LTE Band 7.
I'm not entirely sure if on Jellybean, as it comes from factory, it WOULD work with Band 7. But, since I've been testing it, from the "camera OTA" to kitkat, it does work. Without custom rom.
You will only need to SIM unlock it.
And that's pretty easy.
The only thing from MY experience is that the baseband/modem from the ATT drains more battery than the one from VIVO (brazilian operator).
Maybe because the VIVO one, has the modem optimized for the Band 7.
4.2.2 had band 7 disabled. There is no guarantee a future update won't disable it again, keep that in mind. The phone is not certified for band 7 use in the US. Hopefully what they did was enable for use when outside of the US. If you have a phone with an unlockable bootloader such as a Rogers phone you can always ensure it will be enabled and install firmware with no bloatware at all and have no branding on the outside of the phone.
So there are many options, guess its just best to know the positives/negatives of each.

ok thanks,me little confused, so if I buy MOTOX on AT&t by using the Moomaker and use it in UK (do i need it tosim unlock?) then I will be able to use the Band 7 in UK, but the phone should have installed the 4.4 kitkat ? so can i upgrade the jellybean which will com as a pre-installed to 4.4 leaked kitkat withoutout unlockng rthe boot loader?
Thanks in advance

JB 4.2.2 factory default may not support Band 7 @ ATT, but JB 4.2.2 with camera OTA does.
And that is still 4.2.2
I can confirm because I used it for a while, before att kitkat official build.
But yes, you are right. ATT may disable Band 7 again in a future update. And with locked boot loader, there will be nothing to do about it.

The upgrade with come OTA automatically. And even if it doesnt , you can manually flash the update with the Official files from Motorola.
But you will need a SIM unlock code to make it work with you mobile operator in UK.

Well not directly answering your question, but i'm on an ATT Motomaker version with 4.4 and here in Hong Kong I do get LTE coverage (HK has 1800MHz and 2600MHz). Fairly sure the X doesn't have 1800MHz so this should mean that that phone has 2600Mhz active on 4.4.
Exactly. ATT has band 7 working on kitkat.
We are just warning that ATT may remove it someday.
I think (my opinion) that is safe to go with it.
But again, you won't be able to flash Brazilian or Canadian radio on it if they remove support. Because the boot loader is locked.

Moto x t-mobile us in uk network
i bought an t-mobile version of moto x and using it here in UK with vodafone. The top right icon shows 4G so not sure if that means that it is using LTE? The vodafone LTE only works on 2600 and 800 mhtz but if you look at the spcs of t-mobile version its no way matches, slightly confused. Looks like that after 4.4 kitkat motox supports all LTE bands, i know it sound stupid but here on this forum we can see that it is case for moto x at&t and then t-mobile(mine). Any expert views?

Isn't 4G used for HSPA+ in the US? That might be an explanation. You can check under Settings -> about phone -> status which connection is used.

Great, things like getting little clearer so if it does not have babd 7 then why does it show 4G on the top right corner i mean for example depending on the signal type available in a particular area the icon should also change e.g. 3G, H, E, G etc? And the wird thing is it shows hsdpa+ in the 'about phone' section despite the 4G icon display in status bar, am i missing something here?

It is a US Moto X. In the US they have the phone show 4G when using HSPA and 4Glte when it is connected via LTE.(They don't care what 4G is supposed to mean, they want everyone to think they are connected at a very high speed)

verizon g2 on at&t LTE???

i picked up a verizon g2 for 150 bucks (steal) and i'm running it on AT&T on hspa+ right now. i have heard that you can flash a stock at&t rom and gain LTE capeablities? is this true? I know there was a thread about doing this for t-mo users on the verizon variant but what about at&t?
I'm dying to have lte on this beast!
LTE is a different radio support. Verizon supports LTE but I'm not sure if the radios are the same. Verizon is the only carrier to really do some heavy tweaks to their rom and hardware.
The Verizon is unlocked for GSM. Honestly your best bet would be to use Tmobile since their HSPA+ service is up to like 42mpbs without the use of LTE radios. I have Verizon and LTE is nice but honestly I mostly keep it disabled just for battery savings. If you can get 3-5mbps then you are solid on a mobile. LTE is nice for WiFi Sharing with a laptop and downloads... but normal day to day facebook, twitter, emails, etc it isn't needed.
You mean use a t-mo rom or switch to t mobile? And yeah at&t hspa+ is not bad at all
so has nobody done this. on the verizon lg g2 dev thread there was a rom for t-mo users that would enable them to have LTE with the verizon g2. has this been done with at&t?
my hspa+ runs pretty good but wouldn't mind having LTE
thanks ahead of time

So do you keep your data on all the time? I keep LTE on all the time beaches I honestly notice a huge difference even with basic things like web browsing and Facebook. I just turn my data off when I'm not using it. I have no use for push notifications of any kind. My email is set for manual refresh and anything else, like Snapchat, will pop up when I turn, my data on. I don't like being blown up by notifications all day. I even have Facebook notifications turned off. I'll check it whenever I feel like it. Lol

Especially if you live in an area like myself where LTE is actually slower than HSPA for most people. The LTE service I am getting from AT&T is terrible in my hometown, and with the silly limits AT&T put on D800, you cannot switch from LTE to HSPA so we are swimming in LTE pool full of people like iPhone and other android users, while the HSPA+ pool is empty because AT&T is not letting anyone go down the block to use HSPA pool..

VS980 on AT&T

Any XDArs using AT&T with the Verizon G2 care to comment on how it's working for them? I am considering the switch and was wondering about any general issues - and possible use of a hotspot. I am running a stock 4.4.2 rom
Thanks!

Yep, I have G2 on ATT. You won't really get LTE unless AWS is enabled in your area. I'm running XDABBEB 24A stock ROM. The phone isn't my daily driver so can't say too much for stability but from the 24A thread there are people using it with great results.
There are also some users that have used it with TMO probably with better results since TMO uses AWS (Band 4) for LTE.
my 2 cents.
Thanks for the reply - can I ask if the hotspot works?
Ok, in case anyone is interested, - I made the switch to AT&T with my VS980 and everything went smoothly - I have HSPA+ (no LTE) - speed seems fine for general use - and working SMS/MMS, APNs were picked up from the SIM I expect. Hotspot works (though I have the modified apk) so far so good.
Do you know what base band you're using?

4G LTE is the only 4G available for verizon. There is nothing else.
On AT&T and other GSM providers, HSPA+ is considered "4G" and so is LTE, but in the case of Verizon:
4G = 4G LTE = LTE they are all one and the same. The fallback for 4G on Verizon is 3G
3G = EVDO = EHRPD these are all the same. EHRPD is an enhanced version of EVDO that allows seamless handovers from LTE > EVDO while keeping the same IP address.
Likely, you just somehow changed your icon....or you are using a GSM Moto X, in which case your scenario does not apply to the OP.

Pie is So EASy to use... I didn't realize how simple using the android ADB is.... great tutorial here http://www.howtogeek.com/125769/how-to-install-and-use-abd-the-android-debug-bridge-utility/
You have have to download the java 7 sdk for it to work.. I think... I just did what it said. but still easy.. took me 10 minutes to read that simple how to article and everything went fine. Running Pie is 4 copy and paste commands... so simple a caveman could to it. takes less than a minute. and you have write or the ability to delete system files or rename them.. but when you reboot everything is back to the way it was before you rooted.. so you have to hook back up to the pc and run those 4 Pie root commands again to gain root again.. but simple stuff.
4.4.2 sucks, but Pie works on it. I have 4.4 on my Moto X and rooted with slapmymoto it permanent root and no problems with it. Its my brothers moto x that I just rooted with 4.4.2 Having to reroot every time you reboot the phone is a pain in the rear. Im still able to run the hotspot hacks on the Pie rooted 4.4.2 and works well
No loss of LTE.. I'm on verizons unlimited data and use it for wifi hotspot using it now.. downloaded the android adb 350 meg file in about 3 minutes plenty of speed to stream netflix

Used Verizon G2 questions

I just picked up a used verizon G2 to use on the Straight Talk service. First issue. I pulled the sim card from my old straight talk phone and put it in the G2. It instantly said unknown sim but, when i restarted the phone i had service. Problem is, i still have the unknown sim icon and cant seem to use LTE. Second issue. im stuck on 4.4.2 because it will not allow me to download any system updates. Im hoping there is a way to manually update. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you want to update hook up the phone to a windows pc and install the verizon software updater that is built into the flash memory when you plug it in. It will download and apply the Lolipop update. You should figure out what straight talk sim you have because it could be a verizon one, but most likely it's an at&t one so you'll need to edit your apn settings.
What provider is your Straight Talk SIM running off of? T-Mobile? AT&T?
The Verizon G2 only has LTE bands 4 and 13. B13 is Verizon-only, while B4 is used by multiple carriers.
If T-Moible, B4 is the primary band, but if you are in a rural area that TMO refarmed, LTE will be on B2 instead.
If AT&T, their primary LTE band is B5, but there are some select areas that have it on B4 also.
The "Unknown SIM" icon is because the Verizon ROM detects a non-Verizon SIM card. I'm sure there are ways to get rid of it via rooting, or just flash a custom ROM. If your Straight Talk is going through T-Mobile, there's a T-Mobile ROM in the dev forum that adds some TMO functionality like Wifi Calling.
I was able to upgrade to Lollipop using the verizon software and my pc so thanks for that!
The sim I am using is an AT&T straight talk sim. Do they have a sim just for verizon LTE networks?

For new lines, you can stick your phone's IMEI into ST's BYOP checker and if it checks out, you can order a Verizon LTE SIM. For existing lines, probably easier to just call up CS and ask.
I just ordered a verizon LTE sim card from straight talk. They transfered my number to a new sim once before, I'm sure they can do it again. If not, I can live with a new number to have a working phone again.

ccross13126, how did this all turn out? Are you able to use the verizon vs980 LG G2 on Straight Talk with 4g data speeds (using vzw towers)?
I am reading all kinds of conflicting stories. Some say it'll work, but 3g speeds only. BUT, it appears that MAYBE the VS980 can now use verizon 4g towers . . maybe in the last few months. Can you confirm? THANKS in advance. I have a rooted Verizon LG G2 (VS980) that I LOVE .. but i would really love to save a few $$$ and use Straight Talk. Thanks again.

I am using the Straight Talk CDMA service on a few of my phones at the moment. I usually use a Nexus 6 but I had to send it in for a problem and have a Verizon LG G2 and a Verizon HTC M8. The sim card works on both of these phones at LTE speeds. At least in my area, Verizon still seems the most reliable for me. It might not be the fastest service but I don't have issues with missed texts and dropped calls like I do with some other services I have tried.
Hope this helps.
