Nillkin Fresh smart case is the bomb - G2 Accessories

Recently received my case from ebay, cost a grand total of 8.88 bucks sh included. The flip works great and the phones detects it.
Does not feel flimsy or cheap!
I wrapped the back with cf vinyl that I had laying around (yes i know some debris got stuck under there but it doesn't bother me)

I has the original from LG... and already ordered some bumper ... got annoyed from having to open it and close it, also whilst playing normal games its just in way. As well was the cause for me throwing the phone on the ground, finger got stuck in the hole.
If it was a phablet, tablet, I would maybe like it. If it was even Amoled that it had some nice options to it as well.
But since there are no real apps for the quick window, no real or good notification, and I got incredibly annoyed by the ever changing clock or aps.
Anyway . Sorry for the rant

As for the CF vinyl, i comes from a generic car wrap vinyl roll form ebay. Such as :

I have a bad habit of wrapping my devices when I get bored just grab an xacto knife and a hair dryer and get to work! (does a WHOLE lot better job then precut CF)

Case with a kick stand?

Not sure if anyone has ever thought of it or if it exists, I haven't found one.
But a hard case with a kick stand built in?
Anyone have the engineering talent to rig one up?
Edit:
Ahhh hell,
Just found one never mind.
http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?skuno=86324
Edit 2:
Looks a little too bulky for me.
I was thinking a case like these:
http://www.accessorygeeks.com/sprint-htc-hero-hard-plastic-case-skulls.html
With the kick stand that flips into the case nice and flush. Like actually part of the case being able to fold out.
Well if you got the case you could always Macgyver it and duct tape a paper clip to the back of the case thats shaped like and L.
*dont laugh I just tried this and it works! personal viewing angle set to "slight bend"

Ever since you brought up this topic I have been searching for such a case. One that essentially resembles the back end of an Evo. The only one that I can find is the body glove one and thats just straight gay! Maybe we could try to petition one of the many Mfg's of these hard shell cases this idea . Preferably one of the off brand.
Body glove cases are the best out there, i have one now but without the kickstand. I really don't see a need for one unless you have a huge screen like on the evo.

Well if you think of it like this. Not just for watching movies or youtube but where are the speakers on this thing? in the back. And for those who use their device as an alarm clock like I do it would help a ton if they werent blasting into my nightstand and Deskclock does work in lanscape as well. Just some food for thought.
I am considering taking this paper clip idea a step farther. Amazon has cheap hard cases for like 4 bucks shipped. I won't mind destroying one if I mess it up - Ill let you all know how it turns out.
K, if you're good with tools, you MAY (depending on how thick the case back is) be able to drill a paperclip-width hole into the case, stick the bent paperclip in there, and then outline where the paperclip lays against the case. Then get a dremel or something, and cut out a section for where the paperclip can lay in. If you do this, the paperclip will be secure in the case, and will be flat against the case when you're not using it
Ingenuity! Could even use one that has the rubber coating on it that is colored to match the case too.

I was thinking of about a million different designs last night
I think with a little dremeling and some Zippo welding I might be able to cut out a small section of the case and fashion a kick stand out of the cut out. Then super glue a straight piece of paper clip to the inside of that and notch out little places on either side of the cut out for it to rest in. This way the paper clip acts as a hinge for the plastic cut out.
Then I would need to figure out a way to lock/snap it in place when its not in use. Ordering a crappy case right now. Maybe have some results in a week. Amazon china shippers aren't the fastest people in the world.

Well My plans as of right now:
1. Get the case (24th i hope, damn china shipping)
2. Cut a shape similar to this:
Code:
-----------

/__________|
out of the lower/back/center of the case
3. Notch out the back side of my cut out with a thin enough line to set a piece of paper clip in. As high lighted in red, and super glue or epoxy that in place.
Code:
-----------
[COLOR="Red"]--------------------[/COLOR]
/ |
/ |

4. Now on what is left of the back of the case. Notch out a grove where the paper clip will rest in there.
5. Figure out a locking mechanism of some kind to snap it in place..something like in red below.

Damaged my casing, felt like crying :(

I've been meaning to order a silicon or other type of protective casing/sleeve etc since im quite prone to dropping devices, luckily never done any real damage.
Yesterday I had my Tab in the inside pocket of my jacket and when I pciked my jacket up to put it on it slipped out ad I swung jacket and the Tab came crashing down to the bumpy concrete floor.
My tab now has scratches/dints in two corners, I'm so [email protected] pissed at myself for leaving it this long to place order.
Needless to say I will be ordering right away.
Does anybody know of a way to get the casing replaced as I would kind of like it to be pristine as I've only had it little over a month.
Youd like to replace the plastic casing, have I understood you correctly?
I don't know if this would pay out at all.
I just googled for the casing. Best I could find is the backpart. But you said the edges where damaged.
I would advise you to rather spend that money on a really nice case and cover those dents up.
So I don't use a case either, because I don't want the tab to get bulky.
So I can't recommend a case too you.
But this relies quite heavily on personal preference in anyway.
galaxy tab 1.4.5 overcome
I actually preferred the full black casing and was hoping I could get a full black replacement but haven't seen any about anywhere. If/when I do ill make sure I post about it

If I were you i would not replace the casing but spend the money on a real good case, that can handle people's clumsyness (like you and me ), the Otterbox.
Atheist bud. Samsung repair center does replace casing but for a fee (sorry buddy warranty doesn't cover accidents).
Now, now children, play nice before the big bad moderator(just kidding) comes and closes this thread....
1) Personally, you and I may not see eye to eye on the forums, and I smirked when I read the OP... but whateva
2) I'd think getting a nice sleek case would be a better option than cracking the tab open... unless you already have (which wouldn't surprise me ) I have one that adds only a couple of millimeters of thickness and protects with silicon AND plastic. (Nice latches on the corners provide extra protection on the sides/corners) I like it.
3) This thread is likely to get closed by days end... So I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in regarding the ACTUAL topic at hand.
4) This whole thing has been mildly amusing. Can't believe I actually sided with Athiest in my head

Well tbh I want to do both. I want to replaced the chipped housing and then get a protective sleve or casing aswell.
Gunna pm the dude earlier who said he knew whereto get them (He never pmd).
Fair enough, I just don't see paying to much to be worth it if 99% if the time it's covered by the case... But for the right price, can't say I'd want any different for my precious tab.

[Open Thread] Thoughts On Otterbox Case For EVO Shift 4G

So I just wanted to start a thread for myself and anyone else who may want to read it
Basically anyone who has an otterbox case for the evo shift or has seen/used it or whatever just leave your opinions/reviews whatever. I am thinking of buying one so just wondering
I don't have one for the Shift but I've used an Otterbox on other devices and would recommend it if you have the slightest fear of damaging your handset.
I believe the last one I used was a Commuter which completely encased the handset and seemed to be able to take a hit. The back was too smooth for me so I had a little trouble re-learning how to hold it and the thickness of the handset increased significantly but overall it felt safe. Worth the extra money.
I am using the otterbox commuter case on my shift right now. I like it a lot. The fit and finish seems like it is completely a part of the phone. Only two complaints are:
1. If I try to move an icon from one hone screen to another, the piece covering the screen makes it difficult to move it to the "edge" - not a big deal, you learn to adjust.
2. When opening the slider, I hear a click sound, sounding like the little tabs holding the upper piece on are catching as it moves. Again, kinda not picky.
All in all, I think it is a great case and makes me worry a lot less about dropping my device. I would definitely recommend it.

Awesome seems like ill want to pick it up. I recently cracked the screen on my shift and made a few scuff marks so that's what seriously turned me to getting the case.

Tip for putting on the included screen protector...patience and a clean work surface! I couldn't get it to work well at first, then I ended up dropping it on the carpet. I was ready to give up on it until my wife took it from me and got it to work. So...if you have the patience of an ADHD kid on meth like I do...lol. It was my first screen protector too so. Anyways have fun!

definitely worth getting. i have the commuter series otterbox and it makes my phone look and feel like a beast. only thing that annoys me sometimes is the dust/lint that gets stuck to the rubber on the case, but i just blow it off.

I have one and love it! Top of the line case, looks good feels good and protects good! I would totally recommend it to anyone with a Shift!..
I use it on my shift, and have had them on two other phones. Like everyone else said, its a great case, and really does look like a part of the phone.

I'm now on my second otterbox after a free factory replacement, my only nit pics are the usb port cover doesn't stay closed, and it clicks everytime I open it, feels like one of the clips is catching....

Just got the Commuter series and I'm a fan so far. Makes the phone feel more substantial and gives a better grip. The only issue was with the headphone and USB port covers, which didn't stay down. I just removed them, but DON'T Rip them off, it'll tear the rubber casing. Found that out on the USB port one so I cut the headphone one off. Either way makes the rubber a little loose around the port but not hugely annoying unless you're a perfectionist(which I can be). I'll just apply a little glue and seat it on the plastic frame.

Nope I can confirm that, being really careful you can take the back without any problem..
I Think that the front parts being hard to take off it's a good thing.
Had mine for 2 or 3 months now
Bought it from Amazon for like $25 when they finally came available for the shift and had to wait a month before I got it in hand.
I'm not as impressed as i would be with the protection if it was a defender case. I had the black case with fake carbon fiber and belt clip before. The otterbox commuter is better then that one, by how much I'm not sure.
I dropped my phone about a month ago. I don't know if it just hit the right place of the case, and the back case came flying off the phone, the side clips where busted off, so the back case would not stay on any more.
I decided to call up otterbox and see if it was under warr. and if they would replace it. AMAZINGLY they said YES so they shipped me a new one for free i didn't even have to pay shipping. NICE. It was quick and easy I thought that was soooo cool. Because of that i will continue to buy otterbox, and recommend them to others.
In future i hope to buy defender cases (better protection) which means no more slider phones which i think i am ready for now that touch screens are so much better. All my old phones have been sliders with full keyboards from back in the day with my old HTC t-mobile MDA, which made me find this site.
Thats my 2 cents.

Review: Artech-21 Full Grain Leather Wallet Case

Hello fellow XDAers,
I was chosen to write a review for Artech's new product, which is a full leather wallet for our beloved G4's. Please see Amazon's link for the full product description:
http://www.amazon.com/Artech-21-Pre...qid=1433632855&sr=8-1&keywords=artech+case+g4
From the moment you open the package, the scent of real leather overcomes all of your other senses. The shipment arrived with bubble wrap within the envelope, with Styrofoam foam packaged within to prevent the wallet from being crushed during shipment. Upon closer examination, it is easy to tell that the leather is of premium grade by sight, if not by touch.
The fitment of the phone and credit card is superb. Once you slip your phone into position, the case holds onto it for its dear life. I attempted to "yank" it out of position to see how easily the phone would fall out if I were to take the case in and out of my pocket, but it's almost like the phone is completely locked into the slot. It feels extremely secure, thus, I would not worry about the phone slipping out for any reasons, accidental or not. The two credit card slots, as well as the transparent slot for the ID card fits nicely, yet, it allows for you to easily remove them from its slots in order for the cards to be used (swiped). The transparent ID slot has a hole for you to slide your finger to remove the ID from its slot.
The cutouts are literally perfect all around. The camera, volume buttons, flash, light sensors, speakers are perfectly aligned, while the headphone jack, charger port, the dual mics, and IR sensors are exposed for connectivity. All of which, still remains within the case to prevent damage, of course. The case closes with a magnetic clip that attaches on its own upon closing, and does not appear to be flimsy.
The case wallet is created based on "simplicity." It "only" allows two cards (three, if you include your ID), and would allow for just a few US bank (currency) notes. Personally, I'd give this a 4.75 star out of 5. The only reason is that I can't seem to fit bank notes without having to fold them. I can certainly understand that many people do not carry cash, and I do not often do it either. However, this is a wallet - and I would expect a wallet to hold cash properly.
I haven't got mine yet. I'm expecting it tomorrow and will double around with another review as that was my promise. Look at all them 100's. Haha
Let me know if anyone is interested in this case. I only wanted to do the review on it, but I'd like to stick to my Ringke since it's great for working out.

Do credit cards give any danger to the screen such as pressing down on each other and rubbing against each other?

The cards have no chance to rub against each other - they are clearly separated. I do not see the cards scratching the screen upon closing or opening, however, I suppose there is always a chance of this when you're storing your phone with other items in your pocket/purse, etc. Due to the padding of the area around the cards, I want to say that it is probably safe on your screen.

Just wanted to thank Charlie again for his generosity.
I got the case and I'm impressed with the quality of the leather and the crafting. Definitely has the genuine leather smell and it looks like it would need to take a pretty severe beating to bend or crease or crack. As far as functionality, I don't think I'm going to use it as a full time wallet since I've just gotten to used to my own, but one of the reasons I like this case is I usually just toss my phone into my messenger bag/laptop bag for work so this case will definitely protect the phone from keys, pens, cables rubbing against it... etc. or also if you ever put your phone down and worry about the surface being wet or dirty.
The plastic backing seems sturdy enough to keep the phone from shifting out or getting loose.
I will probably also end up buying the dark brown version. :good:

Do credit cards give any danger to the screen such as pressing down on each other and rubbing against each other?
I've always worried that this kind of flip case might scratch the screen.

Credit cards dont have enough hardness to scratch the screen. And put a tempered glass screen protector on

To be honest , even your key can not make a scratch on the screen .
but the sand will ( Same thing as Diamond ,lol)
Just ordered the dark brown one from Amazon also. This is a quality product. :good: I can't stop holding the case to my nose and getting high off the smell of the leather. :silly:

I actually forgot about it since I recorded that back when I first got it. I laughed when I was putting the video together last night.
Has anyone tried using this with a set of Bumpers? If so, does it work?

Since that video is not in English I don't know what he is saying. It appears it will work with a bumper but hard to tell if it closes without issues.
I'd be interested in the folio but I want to keep my bumper on as well.
Can anyone translate?
It is good but not perfect, mine became to peel on borders around 4 months, also i was thinking it was nylon, but it's synthetic, also became peel. I miss my old Droid Turbo which has the ballystic nylon cover.
It is cheap and for me the funny part is that is magnetic, i liked to put on metal surfaces and everyone was wondering how the hell i did that lol. Also it was cheaper than a Moto Shell, but now they are offering it at Motorola site on 3 bucks plus shipping, not bad at all.
And the most useful stuff of this is that in some way it protected the easy scratch screen that this Z line has, and in my case it cover the fingerprint sensor, because once the phone was in my pocket, moving or walking make the screen turn on and well is not funny.
But the most annoying part is that it covers the earspeaker, so it is almost impossible to ear when it rings.
