Omnirom for N7100 build failure - General Omni Discussion

Hello. I'm trying to build omnirom for n7100. The build falls over however with the following error:
*** No rule to make target `vendor/samsung/smdk4412-common/proprietary/sbin/cbd', needed by `/home/sm/android/omni/out/target/product/n7100/root/sbin/cbd'. Stop.
Any ideas?
Thanks

In the end I did yes. I got a PM from the developer and added to the 'manifest.xml' (not the local_manifest. Is this wrong?):
After a re-sync it built OK. Haven't had a chance to flash it yet. I don't get the phone back until next week. I went through the whole process again bypassing the steps to extract the files from the phone. I assumed that getting the proprietary files from the repo negates the need to get them off the phone itself. Would this be correct?
Thanks

Ok I got another PM from dev. I don't need to extract the files from the phone as I suspected. But I should add the proprietary repo to the local_manifest or it may cause issues in the future when the main repo is updated.

Yes right ☺

1st of all am sorry to take over this post to ask about my N7000, i have a similar problem but different device.
i manage to build successfully but when i flash the rom to my device it doesnt boot.
i asked in some forums and everyone seems to think its something to do with manifests.xml and vendor blobs
if you want i can post both roomservices.xml and n7000.xml
i strictly followed this omnirom docs to build in OS X
please do enlighten me

Update 2: You won't get a stable build from here, just treat this as a massive development thread now. Feel free to continue your great work.
Update: I have successfully built CyanogenMod 10 for you guys. I don't know if it'll boot or not, so please provide the logcat (adb logcat) and dmesg (adb shell dmesg)
You can download UNTESTED, EXPERIMENTAL builds here:

Original post: Feel free to discuss your thoughts on developing this for this device here, I don't have this device but I did say to BigBearEvo that I'll help him if I can. I will compile this ROM from source code.
I need help with this as I don't own the device (as I just said) but will make at least one build for it. I can't even promise this'll boot.
IF YOU WANT TO HELP MORE THEN PLEASE GATHER INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DEVICE - TOUCHSCREEN TYPE, ETC IS HELPFUL. TELLING ME ITS A CERTAIN COLOUR ISNT!
Hope I'll get you folks a booting port soon.

Okay, I'm going to compile this and go to Judo because I can.
When I get back you might/might not see a build uploaded. If you don't then don't blame me.
but if you do then please do the following:
0) Set up ADB on your computer and backup stuff
1) Download it
2) Clear data as normal
3) Install it via Clockworkmod recovery (if possible)
4) Run the following...
adb dmesg > dmesg.txt
adb logcat > logcat.txt
at the same time to log everything your phone does.
Once this is done, please use logcat.miui.us, pastie.org or pastebin.com to report all the logs so I can read them later.
If it boots, screen cap it along with everything that's working. Please also include the recovery version you used too.

i tried that and also jamisons,
replacing boot.img with stock just to check
still getting the same error.
build.prop says its 4.2.2. I got rid of the build.prop assert in updater and still having errors. i would like to take a look at the op's device tree he compiled this from
I may need to tweak some of these files, and rebuild it. I'm surprised it completed without errors....lol
I took parts from the Tab 2 wifi and followed http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro
I think it has something to do with when I pulled the blobs from my device............... "generate-blob-lists.sh" I had to edit that and I'm thinking that it didn't get everything that it should have needed.
I have ssh running so I'm able to get into my Ubuntu box remotely....... Time to play.
I'll see if I can get the tree pushed to git....... never done that either...... but hey, that's what learning is all about........right
If you need help with github - My how to. Do you have the propriety files?
i've been working on a device tree also. i believe this github may provide a great deal of info on what may be lacking for us to build cm.
https://github.com/ohanar/android_device_samsung_smdk4210-tab
during my research the exnoys chipset was used in the gsII and according to marvell pxa988 and smdk4210 are synonmous. AFAIK the prop blobs should mostly be in /system/lib/hw the major workload maybe just resizing for our display

You use the extract-files.sh or pull files yourself?
The issue is the extract-files.sh are board dependant. There isn't a universal extract-files.sh file. The cyanogen mod wiki says to create your own.
Sent from my HTCONE using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
The issue is you can only run that file when your device is running cm10. Otherwise you have to pull it all out yourself.

I've got a fairly good connection and could do a build for you. I'm building PA nightlies for mako but I also keep my cm sources synced. So I'd just need your local_manifest (including your device trees repo) to do a build for you. Would take around 2 1/2 hours I guess...

Nexus 7 Flo: WLAN doesn't work

Hi guys,
I've updated my Nexus 7 FLO to version 4.4.4-20140704-flo-NIGHTLY
After reboot the WLAN dies not work.
Is there an Kernel/driver issue?
Kind regards
Chris
Read commit comments here.
Problem is we're in the process of getting a new maintainer fully spooled up. There are various techniques device maintainers have available to them that need to be used for certain device maintenance tasks (like a full upstream merge) which aren't normally available to gerrit users.
Andre hasn't quite yet learned how to properly wield his newly-given powers. Specifically, the kernel tree really shouldn't be a fully squashed merge, but individual commits. He reverted the squash but the push of the individual commits failed last time he tried it. He went away for a few days around the same time pulser sorted his access, so the kernel is still backleveled.
I could fix this myself, but I want Andre to do this on his own so he knows how to do it going forward.
?
Sorry but I didn't understand this in detail. Only that some merges die not work.
Workaround for me was to install Franco Kernel.
Now WLAN works again.
May there are some more quality tests required before merge into nightlies?
Kind regards,
Chris

No, the issue is that we have a new maintainer that needs to learn some new maintenance techniques. Rather than push the fixes ourselves, we want him to do it, but he's on vacation for a few days.
Thanks for your answer. OK, wie all have to learn new technologies.

I just tried to install OmniRom on my Nexus 7 2013 (flo)
Once installed, it is not able to do wireless internet, which is a fatal error.
Will it be posted in this thread, or where should I look to know when this is corrected?

Answering my own question I downloaded a Franco kernal as a precaution and tested it, happy to say the new maintainer has it well in hand by the looks as its all working OK
Okay there's something else going on, quite an odd one this...
After playing with some kernels WiFi stopped working - no great surprise, so I reinstalled the latest nightly that *was* working and now it doesn't ! Even after wipe of data / system install of month old (or latest) and I can't get anything from WiFi...
I've had to restort to using CyanogenMod as I can't seem to work out what's going on here !!!
Any ideas and I'm up for investigating - the only wrinkle is I'm currently using a multirom version of twrp but I'm not injecting it, so that shouldn't matter ?
Any ideas folks?
There's a fixed_wifi_boot.img that needs to be downloaded and flashed in the bootloader. If you've flashed a recovery before, it's similar. Just do "fastboot flash boot fixed_wifi_boot.img" in the right directory.

What does this file actually do?
Will it prevent other ROMs such as CyanogenMod or kernels using googles official binary blobs from working?
Can it be undone ?
Where is the file?
Tia
The file is in the same location where you downloaded the OmniROM nightly. As for conflicts between other ROMs/kernels, I'm not sure. I imagine there's an official boot image somewhere that can be flashed, maybe Google's stock images install it.

Hi,
I just downloaded the file from this post and checked the sha1sum against the original file that I uploaded and it´s ok. The sha1sum value is b85360a80f6205269b75d9dfabccac211a224d46. So there is no file corruption problem.
Please check if your file has the same sha1sum.
Tonight I´ll flash this file again in my tablet and verify if it works. It´s highly improbable that I uploaded the wrong file, but I´ll check flashing it.
As soon as possible I´ll update here the result of this test.

Awesome!
Flashed, seems to boot ok on SM-P905
Great job.
Seems to be working fine! Boots as permissive and setenforce 0/1 working fine.
Great job. Now we are waiting for at least some basic overclocking and governors implementation

If you find some WiFi issues don't forget to edit /system/build.prop, change the parameter ro.securestore.support from true to false and reboot.

Rodrigo.
Already had the property changed in my build.prop, so i'm not exactly sure if the wifi works out of the box or not. Although I confirm that it DOES work with the build.prop modification
And by "does work" I meant both wifi and mobile radio working flawlessly.

As we all can see, our devices lacks of community support.
I wonder if you are the first person on the planet who managed to prepare an environment and compile P905(x) kernel succesfuly
May I ask you if have any plans to proceed with the kernel developement?

Unfortunately I don't have enough free time, so I don't have plans to work in kernel development. I did this because I was needing it to install some stuffs in my tablet and decided to share it here o XDA where I always found useful things.
If someone wants simple modifications and points some links explaining that I can try without problems.
And if someone have problems preparing an environment to compile the kernel, let me know, I'll be very happy to help.
Regards,
Rodrigo.

Well, i'm not the one who asked this nor I have ever heard about it, but by curiousity I googled this. Got link for this app at Google Play. There are github links in app description to patches that needs to be added to kernel to make this work.
Just can't see Note Pro in officially supported devices -list and don't know can this device even be supported. There reads "Unofficially Supporting: Any Phones using Qualcomm Audio Chip WCD93xx chipsets." But I don't know which chipset NP12.2 got.

Thanks, it seems simple if the audio chip is compatible. I'll try to include this in the kernel.
Thanks, Rodrigo for the great work!
Finally i was able to get Ubuntu running using linux complete installer.
Its a shame there's so little development for this great device.
I wish i had skills to do some.
Thanks, from Piracicaba-SP

Yes, one of my motivations to compile this kernel was to boot Linux images too.

I tried to compile the kernel with the patches sugested by the Fauxsound developer but, unfortunately, I have no success.
Probably it will be necessary more kernel modifications to compile it with the Fauxsound patches.

Hi,
I have a question about your kernel.
does it contains a root feature ?
I am running XXUANI1 firmware on P900 (wifi version), and have tried the auto root from Chainfire.
it does not work well (I think it was release for a previous firmware), and give a lot of random reboot.
I was thinking that may be I could flash a kernel accepting to work with su.bin
thanks for any information.

Porting CM12

Hi! I'm currently making a somewhat desperate attempt at porting cm12 to the d950. I know some basic things, I once tried to make a custom kernel. I have the device and vendor trees set up, with the cm12 source and the files from the flex source, and I've been making some changes. Can anyone help point me in some direction from here?

Okay, so now I need to run extract-files.sh, only problem is it doesn't exist. and from my understanding, I have to already be running cm12 to do this, which obviously is not possible. Can anyone help me get the proprietary blobs?
You're better off looking at the g2 proprietary blobs as when I was trying I had the most success with them on CM11, its a good starting point
So should I take those, then make changes to suit the flex?
Yeah, its a good place to start, but it won't suddenly make it compile, it helped sort a couple of issues once we'd got it compiling in the first place....
Try msg playfulgod and see if he will point you in the right direction
Alright, I've got something that looks pretty good going, but I can't do anything without a working kernel. And as I don't know much about kernels, could Someone possibly try to make one for cm12? Also, I have the blobs from my boyfriend's g2, and I've made a lot of changes, but I might need a little more guidance. Any help is appreciated.
Do you have coding experience though thats the question.
Either Build a dummy kernel or modify the original kernel from cm11 roms that your device has and built it alongside the system images.
CyanogenMod doesnt allow Building of only the system.
Youll need to modify the following:
Kernel Source
Device Trees
Vendor Files
A good way to look at what is required for a cm12 bringup is to check other similar devices with the same architecture and compare the changes and the sources you have on your pc.

I took programming classes, and there were a few units on android.
So I just forked the blobs from playfulgods repo, and I've made a lot of changes to tbe devices folder, as well as 'POSSIBLY' do something good as for a kernel, but I doubt that will work. How does one build the kernel to test it? Using linux btw. I have all of the dependencies and everything, could someone explain breakfast/brunch/lunch?
HEY SO I THIN K I HAVE SOMETHING THAT MIGHT WORK AFTER HAVING SOME REALLY SMART PEOPLE HELP sorry for caps, but now I have something in the out folder for zee, what do i do with this, and how do i make it flashable? could someone do it for me? and also, kernels?

I can write and add the meta-inf folders to make it flashable. But I don't do kernels

I see 2 things with the Out Folder having problems.
1) What has the Build System Generate in the out folder?
2) CM12 will generate a pre configured Zip File if it doesn't, the build failed

If anyone wants to take a look I zipped the out folder.
So you're going to tell us you zipped the folder but you're not going to tell us where it is? Lol

The device tree repos found in lg-devs github are the correct ones just change kernel source to our stock kernel and edit z.mk and verndor files can be extracted with the ./extract-fikes.sh script . But our kernel needs to be updated a little which i am working on mostly caf header need to be added to include/Linux for media and display. I trued using msm8974 kernel but our kernel has specific blobs we use which is easier to use stock kernel.

What you mean you got something lol. We just need to update our stock kernel which you can have a better understanding. Of what i mean visit lg-devs for z repos . we should stick to stock kernel doe.
