[Solved] ROM Flashing Problem - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I’m using GT-N7000 (Samsung). Though I haven’t enough knowledge about android nevertheless I flash ROMs frequently. Last time I mistakenly flash “removed_apks_flashable_20140130” when I want to flash a ROM named “Nightmare_DU_4.4.2_20140130_n7000”.
In the above mention ROM, three zip file found
1. Nightmare_DU_4.4.2_20140130_n7000,
2. Slim_AIO_gapps.4.4.2.build.2.x,
3. Removed_apks_flashable_20140130,
Because of hurriedness, I mistakenly flash “removed_apks_flashable_20140130” and my phone did not response even recovery mode wasn’t come up. Then I flash “PhilZ-cwm6-ZCLSE-CHN-4.35.tar.md5” using ‘Odin3 v3.07” and find recovery mode.
Now, when I try to flash a ROM it is aborted due to “modem.bin” and prompt Status7 problem.
Can someone help me regarding this issue?

You need to flash Raw kernel in philz recovery, reboot recovery and then flash rom. Google for raw kernel.

put the downloaded zip file on your external sd card and boot into philz recovery, go install zip, point to the location where zip is saved and flash, once finished, reboot recovery and then flash the rom along with gapps and SuperSU if necessary.

WHAT do you see?

Thank to forest1971 and nokiamodeln91 for your reply.
If I flash philz kernel using Odin and without wiping anything like data, delvik, etc in recovery mode, this kernel is stable and I can open recovery mode after switched off but others can not (I tried other kernel as well) . But If I wipe or try to flash a ROM then required to flash Philz kernel again using odin.
When I try to flash a ROM it is aborted due to “modem.bin” and prompt Status7 problem for maximum ROM. After that recovery mode is not enable except well come screen where only fond "Sumsung Galaxy Note GT-N700" with a root symbol. If I press only power button then may be boot-loader goes to a loop and my phone try to boot again and again but failed.
I tried to alive my phone last 5 days but failed to find a solution from XDA. Today I post my problem for your help.

Using Philz recovery flash an older rom like cm 10.2 or 10.1 or a custom touchwiz rom like aryamod.

Still no luck.

As per forest1971's instruction ([Guide]: Repartition to revive emmc/superbrick G-Note), I scanned my phone and found problem from 3221MB to 4295MB. Now I'm afraid to repartition as forest1971's instruction. I'm worried about Partition No 10, 11 and 12. I found the example as ...
Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 4194kB 25.2MB 21.0MB ext4 EFS
2 25.2MB 26.5MB 1311kB SBL1
3 27.3MB 28.6MB 1311kB SBL2
4 29.4MB 37.7MB 8389kB PARAM
5 37.7MB 46.1MB 8389kB KERNEL
6 46.1MB 54.5MB 8389kB RECOVERY
7 54.5MB 264MB 210MB ext4 CACHE
8 264MB 281MB 16.8MB MODEM
9 281MB 1174MB 893MB ext4 FACTORYFS
10 1174MB 3322MB 2147MB ext4 DATAFS
11 3322MB 15.2GB 11.9GB fat32 UMS
12 15.2GB 15.8GB 537MB ext4 HIDDEN
In this scenario, what should be mine?
10 1174MB 3322MB 2147MB ext4 DATAFS
11 3322MB 15.2GB 11.9GB fat32 UMS
12 15.2GB 15.8GB 537MB ext4 HIDDEN
Please help....

That's really a wired place to get issues..UMS? Boot into Philz recovery and connect phone to pc and run adb and use the e2fsck on data partition and format the internal storage using recovery. .. Check if it helps..
Instructions should be in forest's thread.. (great post by him)

Thank you for advise again.
What's your suggestion now?
May I proceed as below table...
10 1174MB 3220MB 2046MB ext4 DATAFS
11 4295MB 15.2GB 11.0GB fat32 UMS
or is there any option for recover bad sector?
One more thing that i want to know. How can i find my present partition information?

Did you use partition scanner by hg42. What is the results?

Yes I'm using partition scanner and the results are below:
emmc_scan_all_partitions_once.zip ---> Found OK
emmc_scan_all_partitions_infinitely.zip ---> Found OK till 79 times
emmc_find_brick_start.zip ----> Found error on 3221MB
emmc_find_brick_end.zip -----> Found error on 4295MB
emmc_scan_write.zip ----> Not flash yet

The results of the all partition scanner and find brick scanner are not consistent. I still feel your case is probably not a superbrick (unless you have wiped under the dangerous stock ICS kernel). Now I would to try to use gparted to remove ums and recreate it with the same size, with steps as in my Guide.
Let me know how it goes.

I have tryed to flash many roms, 2.2.1 2.3.1 2.3.5 .2.3.6, (JVT, JVR, LPY, and new ones) always same issue: "E: failed to mount /data (invalid argument) and then bootlooping.
I`m sure my mmcblk0p2 is broken, question is how to force delete this partition or flash rom in to external SDcard!

Have you tired using a pit file?
flash a stock rom from samfirmware.com with ODIN.(eg. jw5)
to extract the password is "samfirmware.com"
tick repartition and use 512 pit file(included in rom from samfirmware).
check youtube for "flash with odin" if u dont know how.
edit:u are trying to flash from from samsungs 3 recovery.u need cwm(clockworkmod) to flash.
go to CF-ROOT(for i-9000) thread and follow instructions and read all in the OP(1-2-3 posts)
again u need ODIN to flash it.
hey
there is the best wasy to do that...just go to sammobile.com
there sign up first and then download the firmware (in firmware tab) and flash-programs...
the make sure to use oidn3_v1.0 only...
you can also download the flash-guide if you need it...
its simple..
Thanks to everyone for replays, but nothing helped me x_x
if i flash 2.2.1 or 2.3.6 i receiving this error:

And then it keep showing me GT 9000 logo......
yes i used 512pit and using 1.82 odin
I know there is way to install in to external SDcard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdMhYYdMB08
I had such error and successfully installed rom in to sdcard but i had issue with phone signal, so tried to re install rom and now its keep teling me cant mount data..

Yep, keep shows only gt-9000 logo..
I had a very similar problem earlier this year.
From what I could see the partitions on the phone's internal storage weren't able to be accessed. In adb I tried using parted and rm but the partitions there (/dev/block/mmc/blk0) didn't ever change. I also tried various .pit files and Android versions through Odin but nothing worked.
I took my phone in for repairs after flashing a really old version; as close as possible to what it came with, and they fixed it. The repair was due to 'mechanical fatigue' according to them. I assumed the internal storage was some how broken or corrupted and couldn't be written to.
Not sure, if you manage to solve this.
From you screenshots I can see you are using 3e recovery. I would suggest you to flash a kernel which support cwm recovery mode.
I have heard peoples getting this error while using it on 3e.
Captain_17
Yes Captain_17, i have exactly same problem, cant give it to repair since purchased it from abroad.

3e recovery because i`ve flashed 2.2 and 2.2.1 or any other official roms, i can flash CWM easy but as Captain_17 said i can see but cant touch
files or partitions.
If flash CWM then phone will boot to CWM only, and i cant flash any rom from CWM because i cant copy files to internal storage and external (sdcard) cwm doesn't see it.
Sorry man, wish I could be of more help. I tried every available option I could find online but nothing worked.
Seems to be a hardware problem and replacing the damaged part is the only solution.
Silly question, but you ticked re-partition? try flash 2.2.1 or 2.3.3 with 512 pit and repartition
Also, you could try to flash Darky ressurection via odin, not completely stock rom. I know that this is just tweaked stock, but you could try do that.
And, you could try to use Heimdall instead of odin - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196179
I have read somewhere that heimdall is more preferable than odin in some cases.

I once also a similar problem and flash2.1 Eclayr. But then I had to restore recowery to flash. as with you, I do not know if it helps.

After installing aroma guestekrnL phone only boots to CWM

Hello
I've tried installing guestekrnL on WIUI. When installing guestekrnL, the only thing I've ticked extra that was other than defaults was:
"Activate init.d functionality and convert file system to EXT4?
- yes
select if init.d is not working yet or if you don't know"
Well, after reboot WIUI was screaming that my sd card is broken and format may help. It formatted it, but it still didn't work. So I've rebooted to recovery via option in power dialog in order to restore old firmware. However there's a problem now: CWM Touch says that it can't write logs to /cache. Mounting /cache, /data or /emmc from recovery doesn't work, only /system and /sdcard are mounting correctly. I've tried BackToExt3 with no luck. I've tried wiping it many times, with no luck. My phone only boots now to CWM. I can't flash stock via APX mode, because I have broken USB port in my phone. What can I do?
Does restoring a backup, flashing a zip file or wiping work?
Ok, I was searching for almost whole hour now and it seems it's a problem with partition table. Fixing can be done via zip, but I need some dumps. First one from "cat /proc/mounts" and second from "parted".
Here's the zip for nook color if someone wants to do that for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759558

Unfortunately, it needs USB. I need to flash it via existing recovery.
Mounting problems occur on some zips using touch recovery . Change cwm to non touch 5.0.2.8. But hey, did you flash a stock kernel on wiui ? you need another kernel, like etana, symbiosis.....or just use the one shipped with rom

[Q] Failed to mount /sdcard problem

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum, but I'm reading it for about 8 months now. I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S I9000. After flashing with Odin3 v1.83(with 512.pit file, bootloader, PDA, PHONE and CSC), and I got a green "PASS!" on it, and after phone rebooted in Recovery Mode, I've got following error while Copying media files:
E:Failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid Argument)
After that, I tried flashing bunch of different ROM's but I always get the same error. Phone can go into Download mode, Recovery mode with no problem, I can also normally turn on phone and in a beggining I get a lot of "Force Close" pop-ups, but after that my phone works okay, I can go into settings and there I can see that there is no memory, so that means that my phone doesn't even sees my 8GB external micro sd card. When I try to open Camera, I get this error:
Turn off usb storage before using camera.
I currentlly have i9000XWJVZ 2.3.6 ROM on it, with CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVZ-v4.3-CWM3RFS(Clockwork Recovery v3.0.0.5). When I'm in Recovery mode and access my phone via ADB, and try to manually mount sdcard, this is what I get:
~ # mount sdcard
mount sdcard
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed: I/O error
I've also tried partitioning my external 8GB micro SD card with linux(I found a video on youtube: "Samsung i9000 mmcblk0p2 error recovery"), and then tried to flash ROM on it, but I get the same error.
Can somebody please help me, I'm getting really desperate.
All ideas are welcome, Thanks.
Hi there! I have a similar problem. After updating from Android 2.3.4 Build MCGv7.6 ( I9000XXJVK) I keep on getting CWM. I can also return to download mode and use Odin with success - with as only result a changed CMW version at max. Returning to CWM 3.0.0.5 and stock rom Froyo doesn't result in a applied rom. When i try to mount /emmc and /sd-ext it simply states Error mounting /emmc! Even though I didn't format it! When I look in AROMA explorer in CWM from Semaphore_JB_2.9.12, I can see that both /emmc and /sdcard have ----- as permissions instead of rxwrx or something alike. If permissions are the problem here, Fix Permissions doesn't appear to have an effect on these two folders. Is there another way to restore these permissions?
Thanks guys for your time! :good:

Your tutorial was the first thing I tried, it fixed the wipe error, but the main error (E:Failed to mount /sdcard) stayed.
Possible solution is to Format your SD card by using SDFormatter (Windows)
01. Download "SDFormatter" from the link above
02. Install "SDFormatter"
03. Enable "USB Debugging Mode" from Developer Options in settings.
04. Connect your tablet to PC (USB).
05. Then, tap the "USB Strage Mode" to connect to PC.
06. Backup data on INTERNAL_SD card.
07. Run "SDFormatter".
08. Specify the drive letter of INTERNAL_SD in SDFormatter and click "(Option)" button.
09. "FORMAT TYPE" select "FULL OVERWRITE" and set "FORMAT SIZE ADJUSMENT" to "ON" and click "OK"
10. Now click "FORMAT" and wait for the procedure to complete. (Can take approximately 1 hour 40 minutes)
11. After format is completed you can recopy the backup files back onto the INTERNAL_SD
Let me know if that works
If not hopefully someone else can give more info

You could try changing the way you do it. I can't remember whether you should flash dbdata straight after the rom, or if you should let it fail to boot then go back into download mode and flash it.
I do remember though that it was a bit fussy with me like that, so try it both ways.
I also found that flashing your GB ROM twice, one after the other seemed to help sometimes too. (Just noticed that I've written a .txt file in my GB ROM folder on my PC reminding me to do this, so there must have been a reason for it - been a while since I've played with gingerbread so I can't remember why)
So there's a couple of things for you to try.

Flash the JVU Rom First with PIT and Root...
When Finished Root pull battery ....put battery back in after 30 seconds
Reset ODIN Flash dbdata ..Done
Hope this helps

[Q] Phone won't boot failed te mount /sdcard

Hello
So I got a phone from a friend wich doesn't boot. In recovery it says:
"Copying media files..
E:failed to mount /sdcard (File exist)
E:copy_dbdate_media: can't mount /sdcard
your storaged not prepared yet, please use UImenu for format and reboot actions."
Tried an full wipe reset through recovery. Tried installing firmware through Odin. Tried with a 512 pit file (repartition). Didn't work yet. Any ideas?

Will look into flashing a rescue kit?
Hi.
Have you tried full restore to GB? Original Stock Firm.
-Get your stock from http://samfirmware.com/ & Odin (with pit file).
Don't forget the WIPE! ( you can restore to stock and after that wipe and restart )
For me, at any problem i have... i use the GB Flash Kit from Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637966
And folow that 5 steps.
Don't forget to have a Backup of EFS (IMEI)
Search here on XDA, you will find the right way to bypass your problem, it always happened, don't panic.

Can't mount /data and /system

I've tried TWRP and Philz CWM and I've tried flashing a number of roms. But it gives me an error that /data and /system can not be mounted.
I really need help with this. I have tried deleting and formatting everything which is available in the recoveries I've tried and it gives the same error if I try to format them (in the recovery menu).
I'd love to get any help ty
I really need help with this.. I can give 1 dollar paypal to a person who fixes this for me...

I don't have the device infront of me but I am 99% sure it was
"Can't mount /system
Can't mount /data"
For the record I can flash a STOCK rom with Odin. I don't think there is a way to flash any other roms by usb neither with heimdall nor odin.
Attempting to format data and system just outputs the same error.
I've been used to playing around with HTCs. Is there a way to for me to format data and system via the Android Console or adb?
I also tried fully formatting sdcard0(internal sdcard) and sdcard1(external sdcard) and flashing stock from Odin and then a recovery (I understand recovery =kernel on samsung?) with heimdall.
Can I try flashing via built-in recovery with update.zip or something like aroma installer just won't work?

Which stock firmware are you using? Try to flash XXJVU with Odin. Also use a 512 pit and check re-partition.
Yes, recovery is built in the kernel. It can't be flashed separately.
