Wolfson DAC in international version?
Well, without starting other topic, I got one more, fast question...
People say that i9305 US version doesn't have Wolfson DAC. But how's about SGS3 LTE international version, does it have Wolfson DAC? Anyone who has international version could confirm that?
I read some topics but noone really specified which version they had.
Regards

U.S. 3G HTC Diamond User's Only!!!

I think this will be a good idea to start a thread for us U.S. 3G HTC Touch Diamond owners so we can help each other with good tip's on how to make our U.S. Diamonds work better.
O.K. Now let's start by posting what ROM,COOKED ROM,& RADIO'S your using, and how they are working on your phone's.
I have the Unlocked U.S. 3G GSM Model
OOP'S By the way i forgot to mention i currently have the stock ROM right now.
umm...Diamond hardware is all the same...all roms that are on the euro diamond will work on the US, no performances changes...only thing that would matter is radio...
I guess i just want to make sure which stuff work's good on our phone's.
Missing front camera...
I just got my diamond and I noticed its missing the front vga camera. Are all the US version missing the front camera? I have the one that is compatible with AT&T.
All US models lack the front vga camera, Sprint or AT&T.

Here is the application from the FCC Website:
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas...e=N&application_id=977164&fcc_id='A3LSHVE160S
This is the Korean unit that will be compatible with T Mobile I am still not convinced that we could not get 3g on the ones already out there. Again, this will be a snapdragon chip configuration like the SGS2 for TMO
I guess I have no choice but to hold off and get the Korean one even though my impatience is driving me crazy and wants to buy it now. I also saw that somebody posted the radio frequencies of the Netherlands one and it had all the bands but all I have is his picture to confirm it with no actual proof that I could find on the net.

May be I should follow you. But is LTE so special?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I don't want it for the LTE I want it because i'm on tmobile and the korean one supposedly has the same chip as tmobiles sgs2 so I'd have a better chance getting 3g speeds on tmobile with the korean one.
The Korea model will be the first with NFC right? Or is the india model nfc enabled?
Hope this launches soon. I really need a NFC enabled Note ASAP.
So far I just see Korea

1. FCC is USA only governing body for all wireless and wired communications - it has nothing to do with Korea, or any other country. Devices, which are designed for other countries than US do not get submitted to FCC.
2. I have reviewed all RF Exposure docs in that FCC listing like 2 weeks before you posted the link and I assure you there is no LTE radio on board and no LTE frequencies have been tested. Since it's officially confirmed by Samsung ST Telecom's Galaxy Note version will have LTE radio - even if we overlook the mere fact that FCC submission suggests this device is meant for US and not any other country - this device can't possibly be the korean version, since it doesnt have LTE radio.
3. According to the documentation this device doesnt even have 3G radio. It only has GSM, GPRS, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth.

I hadn't seen this - what kind of processor? Is is faster?
Like a few of you, I've been holding out for the Korea release to pull the trigger. I sure hope it's worth it...
On this Korea topic...
how does SK cellphone prices compare to U.S. and Europe ones?
and is it easy to find such phones on physical stores?
I ask because, tough I live in Brazil, my uncle works in SK, but he flies a lot and wouldn't be able to order and wait for a delivery.
baaj said:

Its supposed to have the same processor as Tmobiles SGS2 and from what I've heard the main reason they went with that processor is because it supports their HSPA+ 42 network the exynos processors don't

Yes, the the sm-t715Y (8.0") and the sm-t815 (9.7") both make calls. Also, I can confirm that they both get LTE in the US on T-Mobile and AT&T.
Okay thank you guys.
I'm planning to buy the international version anyway.
I hope it will work. ?
Thanks.
I have used t715 sa phone about month. it is equipped with basic phone functions- proximity sensor and vibrations...
totally usable, for me...
I use my T715 for work. Calling with the tablet against your ear, with an earkit and over my cars bluetooth works perfect.

FM Radio for Europeean (Exynos) S10

Hello,
I've read on a russian website that all unlocked S10 in USA & Canada (Snapdragon) will have FM Radio (via NextRadio App I suppose). Hope this is true.
Any clue for European versions with Exynos chip ?

I bought unlocked 10e north am snapdragon. It didn't come with fm radio apps. I had no idea. Plugged in headphones and downloaded nextradio. It has very good fm radio or at least the sound and reception is very good.
I tried it on mine with Exynos and NextRadio app:
"NextRadio won't work on your device"
As far as I know no Exynos device had FM functionality in the last years.

It's a good news for our snapdragon model.
Very useful to have radio fm without the need to use data
how good is the reception?

It's as good as a small radio on mine. I sometimes use an old cutoff earbud for an antenna so I can play thru the speaker and I get great reception. The antenna I made isn't a foot long.
i have a China Mobile S10e SM-G9708 (Snapdragon) and it comes with FM radio and Samsung app preinstalled.
Feel so bad to see the Exynos variation has less functionality, performance, and battery life.......

Yeah stupid Samsung... At least we can be happy we will have root and custom ROMs etc.
I've been looking into this issue today and found lots of evidence that virtually all smartphones have the FM chip built in but mobile networks disable them for financial reasons. Mobile networks put pressure on manufacturers to disable the chip so that we are forced to use mobile data to stream music. I remember back when the S7 came out, it didn't have support for FM radio out of the box but it received an update which enabled the chip later.
Hi, would you please share the FM Radio apk. It's a feature I like but don't have available

This isn't the case with exynos phones. They never had radio chip (unlike snapdragon variants) so there is nothing to enable. Spirit FM radio on very old devices (around android 5.0) was somehow able to use the bluetooth as FM radio receiver on some devices, but the reception was poor and it was killing battery life. That's not possible anymore.
I love having fm radio on my phone so I have been constantly searching for solution since galaxy s8 and there is none (for the exynos model). Snapdragon version of the s10 has also better battery life and performance, so if you really want fm radio + benefits and don't care for root (the only advantage of exynos models for now) u should try to find one.

I bought S10e from finland last week and had to send it back because the FM-radio just didn't start functioning. No radio app, downloaded and installed nextradio apk but it said there is no suitable software on phone to start fm tuner. So it is totally turned off from factory I guess. Anybody have success to get FM tuner receiving on European version?

The Exynos devices don't have a FM tuner built in. Only way to listen to radio is over the internet.
I mean this sucks. Why doesn't Sammy install one in their chips? It's not super expensive technology. I don't think that a valid argument is for carrier monetary reasons since mid-tier and low-tier Samsung phones have the tuner built in

You're right...there's no real reason for this but to save just a tiny amount of money. Samsung does this for a couple of years and never mentioned why with a good reason.
Also integrating DAB wouldn't be hard work but a really nice feature, especially in Europe.
What programs out there work besides next radio?

A lot of companies do that, Motorola is famous for it. I once asked a Motorola engineer why they didn't put NFC on their US phones and he told me that no one in the US uses NFC anyway. This was only a few years ago too. No one knows why companies make those idiotic decisions but I guess they figure that millions of pennies add up.

Which G800 best for LineageOS in US?

Hey all sorry for the newbness, I'm kinda totally new to android modding. I've been running a G800A for years now and love it to death, but it's just become a bit too outdated and limiting in stock form. I'm also under the understanding that the G800A is the most limiting version, as there is not even ROMs available to run anything about Android 5.1.1(?)
So I'm understanding if I wanted to go to LineageOS, my options are the G800F/M/Y. Anything I've found on these shows them all virtually identical other than the 4g bands. Would any one of these 3 be any better than the others to use in the USA? Does whatever carrier I would end up going with matter much?
Also, even more stupider questions- has anyone tried installing LineageOS on the G800A?
Last one- what about the G800R4 if I wanted to go with a CDMA carrier?
TIA for any help with this
you can only flash a rom built for your exact device...
only a 800f rom for a 800f device..
or you will brick..
( some roms are built for more then one device like the f/m/y variants)
sadly almost every samsung device sold in the usa after the s4 is bootloader locked.
so you cant flash anything.
you can get a s5 mini g800f from ebay for 60$ and start the flashing game is you love small phones.
That is what is did.
every samsung phone i get now is international or i dont buy it.
@nutpants thx for the reply. I'm still a bit confused tho- aren't US version G900s able to be flashed? Unless I misunderstood some of the stuff I've come across. I'm still on the fence as to whether I want to stay with something quite so small as the G800 (my eyeballs are getting old along with me). I think I might go with a G900 and see how it works out. But is this the same deal ie- I need to look for an international version of that?
Also, I've noticed that tons of international versions have limited to no compatible LTE bands with those used here in the states. I'm assuming there's no workaround for this as it's a hardware issue(?) How much does this affect real world usability?
first off i dont know everything, so you will have to research
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/samsung-galaxy-s5-mini
this is a good reference but i just found it so it could be very wrong also.
( it looks like it is not very good with all the variants so its not to be considered the last word)
while i have not looked at every rom posted here ( and there might be a usa at&t s5mini xda page someplace) i don't remember seeing any rom for the g800a variant of the s5mini if it does not say g800a it will very likely not work, and will brick your device if you try.
its not looking good for your g800a device at all )
i have a g900w8 (Canadian variant) and i can flash anything that the international version uses, but it has all the bands that i usa uses for the most part. (best of both worlds) but i think the usa model (v, r4,p) has a locked boot loader so it is not easy to flash roms.
( i think there is a way to do it, but i never have as i dont but bootloader locked phones)
the s7 and older Canadian phones from samsung are all easily rootable , most can be flashed with international roms, but (dont quote me on this) they use mostly the north america popular bands for lte, hspa, etc.
if you are looking for a newer phone dont get the g900 s5
get the s7 g935w8 canadian phone its about the same size, must faster, better battery ( but you cant replace it, MUCH MUCH better camera (ive had nothing but problems with the s5 camera) and ive found them for about 150$ used in great shape.
if you use data a lot then you want lte to work if you are just going to talk, then the gsm bands are good enough. ive used Canadian phones in the usa plenty and have no serious issues.
but i just got the s5 mini g800f from ebay and im still setting it up so i dont know how well it works yet.
short answer, usa phones are much much harder to root if at all, fewer roms, international phones are much better for all that but may not work well in the usa, canadian phones might be what you want to look at
(my Canadian s5 g900w8 still have support for the latest lineage os 18 )
before you buy check if the phone is supported by lineage os
https://download.lineageos.org/
if it is, then you can root, flash roms and very likely have unofficial roms for years to come.
or you can search xda, but as you can see, the s5mini is all but dead here and developers are not working hard to improve the roms we do have. in another year this place will be a ghost town.
btw i have canadian s4, s5, s7, s4 mini, s7 , s7 edge, note 2, note 3, note 4, mega . and have been very happy with them all. i have a few usa devices (s5 active)but i cant do anything with them. so they sit on a shelf. ( not that any of them do much but the hobby of flashing the newest rom and trying it out.
