[Q] Option to scale video when sending via whatsapp - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I take a video that is 1 minute long, and try to send this video via whatsapp, it will limit me to sending only 20 seconds of the video.
On other phones, Galaxy S3, and Nexus S, Nexus 5, it actually defaults to scale down the resolution of the video, and send the video in full.
1. Is this a problem with the phone or with whatsapp, I have sent a support email to whatsapp and haven't gotten any reply.
2. Is there an easy to use app that can help me to scale the video down before sending via whatsapp? I tried searching on playstore but they all seems complicated.

bump! I have tried some video converters, but they are not easy to use as compared to whatsapp scaling the video directly on other phones! Help.

[Q] Some questions regarding capturing, sending, & playing videos

Okay, so there have been a few things that are really kind of irritating me with the videos on the Captivate... of course it could all be operator error and there may be fixes for it all, so that's where you guys come in
1. It seems I can't send a video I have shot over gmail unless it's at one of the absolute lowest resolutions and lasts no more than like 10 seconds. Is there anyway around that? This is even over wifi. Shot a video last night, and couldn't get it to send until I had it on the second to lowest resolution and kept it super short (10ish seconds)... This seems pretty ridiculous considering my old phone could at least send a minute or so of pretty good resolution video without any problems and didn't give an error.
Anytime I try to send a larger or longer video so far on my Captivate, it says file too large and ends up sending a blank email to the recipient.
2. If the battery is below around about 20% I think, the phone won't even allow you to play videos... Likewise, you can't even open the camera app if the battery is on the lower end. I dunno, I feel that's kind of crazy. I mean if I wanna utilize my last few minutes of my phone's life watching a video or taking a pic for whatever reason, shouldn't I be able to make that executive decision? lol.
Soooo is there anything I'm missing here that would fix these problems for me?

1. Are you trying to send a video you previously recorded or trying to send new video you just captured?
Have you tried - opening the mms or email app first and adding an attachment. When asked what attachment you select Camera. Then record video and let the app compress it before sending. This has worked well for me.
2. Heard this complaint about videos and music players alike. I couldn't provide any info on that matter as I haven't been agitated by that particular scenareo yet...
Hope this helps.

Umm well mostly video that has just been captured or previously recorded. When I go to the gmail app first and go to attach, it only lets me choose image files rather than video. Sigh. :-/
Thanks for your reply though, I really appreciate it

[Q] Video on AT&T

I have noticed that the stock camera app doesn't have the ability to modify the resolution of the photos and/or video.
When sending an MMS the phone doesn't appear to have a problem, but basically every video is captured at 1080P and won't send, and I have tried loading the GPE Camera and a video at 480P also fails to be able to be sent over MMS. Is there a way we can fix this, or does anyone else have a similar issue?

problem on sending video in wechat

Hi there, I know this forum doesn't have much ppl using wechat, but if any of you are using this app, do you face that you can't send the video if the video is too large ?

Sent video quality extremely grainy with no option to change quality?

On my Note 5, in default messaging as well as GoSMS I had options for video quality. On the stock Note 8 app I do not. I don't really use messaging, I normally use Line. The videos I send look flawless to me, but the receiver can't even view them they are so pixelated. This problem only popped up with the Note 8.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Neither app have video quality options and I have unlimited data as well as the receiver with no limit. My Note 8 is unlocked if that matters. When I try to send him the 42mb video through the stock texting app, it says the file is too large.
April
The size file ypu can send is dependent on the carrier. Some carriers like Att have services called advanced messaging which allows you to send twice the size normally to another advanced messaging phone on Att. Videos get compressed and the quality will be crappy. Best to either email or Google drive it for full size and quality.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
It's some setting within the Note 8. I've been messaging the same person for years, through line as well as text. Neither of us have limits :/. Even sending through wifi this happens. Sent a video 5 minutes before I activated my Note 8 and noticed the problem immediately upon activating.

Google photos can't play 4k video longer than a minute

Hi,
When I record a video (with stock camera app) in 4k that is longer than a minute in the photos app it laggs (1-4 fps), the sound is playing normally. When I try to play a 30 sec 4k video it runs smoothly. In other resolution everything is fine.
But, when I play that video in an other app (like Filemanager's built in video player) it is fine.
I deleted app data, and cache, still doesn't work.
I also tried to record a 4k 1 minute long video, wich is about 300MB, then I recorded a 10 minute video in FullHd wich is 1.6 GB, the FullHd video runs smoothly, so I don't think it is a problem with size. What could be the problem?
Same here brother. After i stabilized the video the vudeo become choppy. Or if I see recorded 4k video the video stuck at some piont and show like slidesjow of photos.
For the last 2 days, that is what i am frustratingly suffering. It was not sth existing a few days ago. I was wondering what caused this and saw your post. Appreciate all kinds of recommendations.
If anyone have a solution please let me know, I still have this problem. After June update all of my 4k videos are broken and I can't play them in Google photos.
Are you sure it happens only with videos longer than 1 min? I have the same problem but it's random.
Sometimes videos longer than 1 or 2 minutes play OK, sometimes very short videos lag.
Haven't tried less than 4k, though.
Super annoying - using VLC now.

I am facing the same problem
Hi, so I tried a few things, and it works.
Disable the app. If it asks to replace the app with the factory version click "ok". After that, enable the app, and DON'T update it, even if it asks to.
This worked for me, no problem at all, the 4k works, the slowmotion videos can be played without stopping too.
@Thuyamo so you lost the improved interface, dark mode and all that?
I am just afraid it will cause sync problems or something.

I'm currently on version 4.11, the newest in play store is 4.19 so it's not that old. For me this downgrade didn't cause any sync problem. Since the screen is so dim I don't want to make it harder to see stuff on my phone outside the house?, so I don't use dark mode at all. But yes, I lost the dark mode feature. The improved interface is there, I didn't lose it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
I'm on 4.18.0.250747830 version, 1st play of recorded video was playing normally, smooth, but 2nd and so on lagging like hell

Try the second or the third one, please let me know if it works.
I don't care if it is working or not, to play videos I'm using MX Player Pro.
I created ticket [9-1423000026724] with Google One Support. Let's see how that goes.
Guys, this is a secret so SHHH don't tell anyone.

(Because, I mean, who in their right mind uses Google-anything. Just joking, but srsly.)
Ok, here is an update on ticket [9-1423000026724] with Google support.
Long story short, they said Google Photos cannot play 4k videos.
So I said that was not true and sent them screenshots of Photos running on an iPhone and on a Motorola Android phone, including the information pop-up that shows the video resolution.
They replied they did all they could and closed the case.
I am so dissapointed with their service. I did not expect a quick solution, but I thought they would acknowledge the bug.
What do we do now? I think opening more tickets with them is all we can do. Hope you guys can help me on that.
