jb/kk flash roms from another g2 variant on the vs980 - Verizon LG G2

Hello fellow vs980 owners. anyone wanting to flash a stock based/flex/gpro2 or aosp kk based rom from the other variants can now do so by flashing a patch in the same recovery session b4 1st boot,
instructions: download rom (id maybe stay away from d800 just in case cuz of the 3rd mic tht all othe g2's lack?)
wipe everything! data, cache, dalvik and system 3x
flash rom
If kk based stock/flex/gp2 rom flash the patch labeled 24a rotation fix, if aosp kk based flash the aosp kk patch. (If u have backwards rotation go back and flash the 24a rotation fix then REFLASH the aosp kk patch! (It wont boot otherwise)
If u get a error about it being the wrong device on aosp you'll have to unzip the rom then go into the build prop and updater script and change it to vs980 from whatever it was originally. Also if u have network issues u can try to go into the build prop and change any instance of "lte on cdma device=0" to =1 and default network=9 to 11. Another thing that may work if there is no option for cdma in network settings is to dial *#*#4636#*#* then go to phone settings n change it to lte, evdo, cdma there.
Note: I would stay away from any kk rom that says "recovery included" or anything similar as you definitely don't want it flashing the wrong recovery to your phone so ask in the roms thread for someone to clarify what exactly the zip flashes,
Note #2: this should be considered a beta so you flash at your own risk. But im 99% sure that the worst case scenario is that it wont boot n you have to manually boot back into recovery n flash a different rom cuz these patches dont touch anything that would mess u up too bad, also it works on my phone and I've got confirmation from a few others that it works for them as well
note #3: these patches include a vs980 kernel for stock or aosp depending on the patch, however you should be able to flash any custom kernel of your choice after the patches
Note #4: the aosp patch is from dr87's mahdi rom which i believe is caf based, idk what mokee or sokp uses but if its not caf based try unzipping the aosp patch and replace the boot.img in it with one from slim or cm or just ask in the roms thread which kernels are known to work for that rom then flash that after the patch,

Awesome. This looks amazing. Quick question if we were to follow this and install a different ROM, would we have to follow these steps to flash an update of that ROM?

while it completely depends on what's in the update and what it changes, id say it's easier and safer to just say yes, any updates should be followed by a reflash of the 2 zips

Yeah, I'm pretty positive dirty flashing without the patch would bootloop. Better off dirty flashing with patch and such, or to really be careful just clean flash every time. Flashing every nightly to me is silly

yea, and the guys that make stock based roms usually dont push out updates quite as often as aosp guys so i would just back up and clean flash if at all possible

In the build prop for aeon flex you have to find the line something like LTEconnectivityonCDMA=0 and change the 0 to a 1

really? the script in the 1st zip is supposed to inject all the necessary apn's bulid prop edits and other stuff for lte on cdma to work outta the box. both cloudyflex and rayglobe flex that i tested this on worked fine, well i did have to toggle airplane mode after switching to lte/cdma from global mode in settings on rayglobe but after that everything was fine. did you guys try changing from global to lte/cdma in settings before having to do the build prop edit?

The crack flasher is not strong enough with this one. We must select a new candidate for Flashlord of the XDA.

what the post above mind said. the thing about roaming in the title is in reference to the fact that the initial ports of some of the flex roms you had to either do a bunch of steps involving flashing a 12b rom then dirty flashing flex then clear data from a laundry list of apps or you could clean flash but have to put up w constantly having the roaming symbol in the status bar. but then again the op was fairly clear about what this does so if you're curious give it a read

Thanks for the fun down.. I'll check it out

I used this and flashed Pardus from d802 forum. Seems to work great so far. Had to install 8sms to get MMS but other than that seems good. Thanks!

Oh yea my bad I forgot to put that in the op. All the flex ROMs don't work w MMS cuz the v/ls980 uses a different MMS apk. Its like lgusmms.apk or something and the other variants use just lgmms.apk. u could try replacing the MMS apk from any flex ROM w the one from a 12b based ROM n reboot n see if that fixes it. Also if just pushing the apk doesn't work try pushing APN.conf to system/ect I think it is n see if that does it. I'll try it myself to see if that works

[ROM][UVLG3] (2012-09-02) Stock-Rooted-Deodexed-Zipaligned / Debloated

Thanks to Android Revolution for providing the nandroid backup of his T-Mobile Note, here's a complete stock, rooted, deodexed, zipaligned ROM. I'll look in to releasing a modified framework-res.apk later that adds SIP calling settings and modifies the auto-brightness levels. If no one else does it first, I'll probably look in to adding the extended power menu to make it easier to reboot in to recovery and maybe see if we can get the 15 toggles mod that works on many AT&T roms working too.
I didn't remove any apps, so if you know there are things you don't want, feel free to open the zip and delete things out of /system/app before flashing. Suggestions on what can/should be removed would be great too.
This does not include the modem so flash that separately if you want the latest T-Mobile modem. I'm working off of an AT&T Note so it's easier for me to keep the modems and ROMs separate. tomin.fhl already has that posted for you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837907
Thank these folks for making this possible:
Android Revolution and all the folks releasing bits from the T-Mobile Note.
www.androidfilehost.com for providing free hosting
electron73 and flappjaxxx for releasing stock-ish AT&T ROMs that were very helpful to me to figure out how to put together the flashable zip
Download: http://beta.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390034591667978483
Mods that work:
I tried a couple of the 15 toggle mods for AT&T Note UCLF6 ROMs and they seem to work as is. If you like the toggles go ahead and try them and be sure to thank the creators if it works.
electron73's: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773408
bigfau's colored: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766933
Edit (09/02): If you're looking for a stripped down version, I've customized the ROM more or less to my liking and have uploaded it for others to use. These are the changes I remember off hand:
Removed:
TouchWiz "stuff" (launcher, widgets, supporting APKs)
Samsung keyboard/TTS (keyboard wasn't working anyway and I don't use it so didn't spend too much time figuring out why)
Most of the wallpapers, including all of the live wallpapers
Some Google Apps (new Play Music/Video, a few others) as they inevitably end up out of date anyway and need to be updated from Play Store. The ones that I left in the system partition have been updated to latest available on Play Store.
Other T-Mobile add-ins (if you actually miss anything that was removed you can grab it from the full stock ROM)
Added to system:
Apex launcher
Hacker's Keyboard
Google Now (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224)
Edited framework.jar to include the 4-way reboot option to restart in to recovery (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24303020&postcount=13)
Edited framework-res.apk and added in the native SIP calling settings (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109962). Also tweaked the screen brightness when on Auto to be a bit dimmer (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541180).
Added as non-system APKs:
T-Mobile My Account (overlaps a lot with Access T-Mobile, I'd pick the one that works better for you and delete the other)
ES File Explorer
Titanium Backup
Solid Explorer
aLogcat
Chrome
I've been using this build for a couple of days and it has so far been problem free for me. If the camera closes on you after initially loading the ROM, a reboot seems to fix that without it cropping up again. Last thing on my to do list is to look at replacing the T-Mobile tether app (I don't tether too often so it hasn't been a priority). In the future I'm considering replacing the S-Note and S-Memo apps with some of the community/other developer note (Memo/Papyrus/etc) taking apps, mostly in preparation for a jump back to Cyanogenmod ROMs once they gain a bit more stability.

Can i flash this on my rooted att note with sim unlocked?
I never knew that we could remove or add system apps inside the zip and have it flash without any problems. So I could add the cerberus security app? and remove t-mo bloat? then flash via cwm?

It works fine on the AT&T Note, that's what I used to test with. Just make sure to use a modem that is modified for i717 since using both the mdoem.bin and amss.bin straight from a T-Mobile Note causes it to run about 10 times slower than normal. I know tomin.fhl, jeet92 and others have different combos that work and I may do a little testing too next week when I get some time. Doesn't look like we can expect any breakthroughs in speed though unfortunately.

Yep, you sure can. I usually make a few changes when I download the zips for other ROMs, like modifying the framework-res.apk first to allow for native SIP calling, then saving it back in to the zip. Other interesting things to do is to add in the Google Now files that were modified to work with ICS so that you don't need to copy them in after a flash.

I'm not too sure about that, but my initial guess would be that it's not possible. Some quick Google'ing came up with UDP ports 500 and 4500 that are used, but that would be set on T-Mobile's servers so having your client try to connect on a different port would result in no connection. Have you asked your IT department if they could work with you to find out what rules could be added to the firewall to allow Wifi calling? I know some companies will install repeaters to help get reception for their employees if they're in a bad area, and this would be an effectively zero cost to them solution.

English UK Locale?
Which language/region locales are included? Might English UK be in this or is it the same as the standard T-Mobile stock? Also, will a T-Mobile Note still work fully on their network with this ROM? I got confused by this radio talk.

I'll take a look at this but might not get to it until next week. I did get those FCs sometimes also, but it was better when I factory reset even when flashing over the same stock image. For now using a different keyboard seems to work fine as a workaround.

This is the same thing as stock, just modified a little to allow theme-ing and flashable via CWM. Looks like it does not have the UK language listed. You can use this ROM on both the AT&T and T-Mobile Notes and it should work just fine. You're not really gaining much if you're already on T-Mobile stock ROM though unless you want to flash mods on top of it.

Very nice - Samsung keyboard dock works well, ROM is very smooth and about the only things I can see are that the boot animation has an slight glitch on startup, auto brightness does not work.
Since this is just a test ota I expect we well have updates any day now.
Two questions:
Does autobrightness work?
Since this is based on stock would it receive ota updates that would automatically install and break root and overwrite custom recovery?

Aside from the slight glitch on the screen during boot up, no issues here so far.
The change from ICS to JB is going to take some used to, it does feel like a big phone now, hehe. I wish the homescreen could be in landscape.
One change I noticed, is in the youtube app, even if you turn off automatic screen rotation, rotating the screen will toggle full screen on and off. A little annoying when trying to watch videos in bed lying down, but no biggie.

[FIX] Get Sprint Data To Work On Custom Roms.

Hi all.
Unfortunately it looks like the other thread was closed and I would like to help out other Sprint users who want to flash custom Roms. The fix should be flashed during initial installation, so:
1. Flash ROM
2. Gapps
3. SU (if necessary)
4. Sprint APN Fix zip
Data is confirmed to work out of the box on the following Roms, meaning there's no need to flash the fix:
CM11 based Roms
Cataclysm
Slimkat
Nitrous
Kangakat
Beergang
I'll update this list as Roms developers add their own fix.
I do not take credit for this as I did not create this zip (Thanks to Motcher41 for creating it). I'm just passing it along to help other Sprint users.

The fix for data on custom roms is not in the apns file, its adding the missing proprietary need to "authenicate" your device to sprint which runs during the initial setup in the setup wizard. The developers need to add the missing stuff "OmaDmclient.apk" and thats it ....

I found this rom on line and I took no credit to this rom. All right belong to its developers and flash at your own risk.
You could find the link here.
Update: new links here:
http://liquidsmooth.net/?page_id=12
Go to " LiquidSmooth KK 3.0 - NIGHTLY", then select "Moto_msm8960dt"
Following is old link

Note: I am just an user for the rom and know nothing about development. There are some FC in this rom according to some users. Flash this rom if you are fully aware of that.

You are fast, dude!
For those who also want to try, you might need 4.4.2 gapps from BaNK's theat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012857
or direct link here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=10306
Just installed and love it so far battery seems decent so far on my stock battery, settings are amazing, kind of like the ose interface but two flaws that I have to report in the 3.1.0 version there is a wifi bluetooth gps and sound toggle in my notifications that I can't figure out how to get rid of and the last and probably biggest flaw is when charging the phone goes crazy . lol I put in my charger and the sytemui freezes and disappears and brings me back to the lockscreen and repeats until I take it out.... Lol still charges but I'm going to reflash and see if it helps any or just flash the 3.0 version and see if there's a difference. Excellent find bro.
i just installed this and so far i like it. so far the only problem i encounter is i cant input the ATN. anyone has the same problem?

Lol yeah because i been testing this since before it was officially build for mb886. Lol
Also is about the same as Validus since come from same developers with the exemption of having theme manager from cyanogen.
Has anyone figured out how to remove this annoying notification toggle on this rom? Any help?
No is build to it. Lol

Seriously? The notification toggles kind of defeat the purpose when you have quick settings. I think there might be a way to modify the sytemui with apktoolsapktools or something because it gets really annoying especially since the quick pull down on this rom actually works there's no need for it. I'm going to look for a fix.
very very buggy/broken.
going into APN menu causes phone to crash
sound->volumes causes crash
many random force closes, etc.
on the other hand it is incredibly smooth.

Seems like you did a dirty flash or forget to wipe cache/davik.
Maybe try clean install again?
So far my only issue is FC in liquid wallpapers.

Yea, I had lots of issues with it as well. I really want to try it for an extended period, but with the FCs on adding an apn I have to wait and hope it gets an update. Really like the customizations available but without me being able to get data plan and mms I am not comfortable testing it more than an hour or two at home. So back to ProBam for the time being.

At first I thought this was the quickbar enabled via developer and thought we could just disable it. But no, it's "another" one besides that one..

Maybe its a common problem with CM11? This is still a relatively new ROM/Android version. Be patient and the devs will fix things.

I just needed some free time to do it properly. Making an international gsm firmware work fully on Verizon is a pain in the you-know-what.
I also had the motivation of wanting to fully port the G3 camera driver which I never got around to with the initial G3 port I did with Cloudy and Tangjun. I'm happy to say it was worth it. Hope you enjoy it.

I'm sure everyone will, awesome job getting CDMA support mashed into it. I can't imagine how difficult that could have been
Coming from CloudyG3 with TWRP 2.7.0.0 can i just perform all the steps above or would it be better to restore to stock 26a first? Wipe system? Last time I went from CloudyG3 back to stock I lost knock on and had to restore it using your hiddenmenu apk. Any idea if I can expect something similar? Willing to be a bit of a guinea pig if you think I'll have a better than not chance for success.

No need to...just follow the install directions above. The only reason you (or anyone) ever lost knock-on is because they had flashed a kernel (if it's included with the rom it's the same thing) that enabled knock code and consequently updated the touchscreen firmware. Knock code also has a framework component that LG/Verizon for whatever reason never included in their firmware...so when you came back to a vs980 stock rom you also lost knock-on due to the newer firmware not being compatible with that firmware. It's a simple as that. All that has EVER been needed to restore it is a simple 10 second procedure.
This firmware package DOES have framework support for knock-on, so I built my kernel to use it. If you switch back to a VS980 Stock rom after this, you'll need to do the touchfw update in one of the 4 different ways that have been detailed.
I flashed XDABBEB's VS98026A Boostack but my Twrp version in twrp says 2.8.0.1. Am I ok to proceed?
Edit: I serched for blastagator and found his thread for twrp. I updated to the newest that way.
I'm moving on...
@xdabbeb am I reading this correctly that it is bumped and not loki'd?

The bootstack is the same one I had posted for my 26A rom. I didn't/don't want to confuse people with having more than one bootstack zip for now while everyone transitions from loki to bump. That said, if you had just continued on to install the rom you would've noticed that the firmware zip installs the new/bumped 2.8.1.2. Just follow the steps and you'll be fine.

Another thing i notice is that the smart notice isn't working. Maybe that is why it was not preloaded on the screen.
If i want to restore my nandroid backup of CloudyG3 can i just flash cloudyfa's kk baseband then restore from twrp 2.8.1.2 or do I need to downgrade the recovery and/or bootloader?

Did you wipe data or did you dirty flash? Neither of those apps exist in mine.
Very cool! I think I will have to give this a whirl. Thanks XDABBEB!
WOW....awesome work!! I did verify that the 26a bootstack I had was the same in the OP by verifying the Md5.
Flashed this last night and nothing but praise for this ROM. Everything works great even Tap to Pay (Soft Card). This is the only G3 ROM where I have seen it work at all.

Did you need to install the RootCloak xposed module? I know that this ROM hides root, and I confirmed that in the settings, but when I start Soft Card it tells me it can't be run on a rooted device.

Yes, I installed xposed framework and rootcloak to get it to work. Also, if you are running ART you need to disable before trying to get xposed to work.
I'm so psyched this is finally coming out, I'd given up on ever seeing this ROM come out a few months ago and have been putting up with the roaming bug on CloudyG3 ever since. So glad I don't have to deal with that crap now. Thanks man.
