I am including a link for using toolkit to install Android: http://liliputing.com/2014/06/use-touchpad-toolbox-install-android-erase-webos-hp-touchpad.html
Although the author uses windows, it really is fairly simple in Ubuntu.
Follow the instructions given and when you get to #6.
Use your terminal and navigate to where you have the tptoolbox_v40 folder.
This is the command to execute sudo ./tptb_v40_nix.sh
Worked like a charm for me!

Preware?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Yes I am talking about preware, it wont let me downlad or install some stuff because its testing versions/unsafe i am well aware of the risk but i still want to continue
I'm on version 3.0.4 and used the "stable" kernel from Preware... And govnah to overclock it..
Id say watch a video tutorial on YouTube to make sure you have Preware installed correctly/trouble shoot what is causing your error
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
ok question did you use the tutorial on xda or did you use a youtube video because i am useing the xda tutorial i have preware installed can you give me the info of the name and adress of this safe kernal

Testing.preware.org is the official instructions for running testing preware feeds. Pretty important to visit there and understand why they made it harder to use alpha/beta feeds.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I would have to agree with contradude. Alpha and beta releases of software on the touchpad do have serious risks involved. When using android and having a problem, one can always just reflash the install when things go south. If you screw up on the webos side, you better have a good working knowledge of the linux command line as there be large dragons ahead. I currently run uberkernel and govnah to get stable performance at 1.5 gHz. The TP is fast and smooth at those settings and I see no upside to pushing the envelope as everything runs as it should now.

I just saw the updated uberkernel and installed it. We now have the 1.7 GHz option as well as 1.5. This was released since my last post. The feeds I was refering to were the experimental feeds for pushing beyond the uberkernel limits.

The latest uberkernel is also a BETA feed.
So you need to look at Webos Internals Testing Feeds , for the new procedure. Read this page carefully.
As Moshe so nicely put it, this is the entrance to the Dragons lair.

What version of Webos are you running?
It is probably because you have Android installed. Uninstall Android after making a backup and you should be good to go .
Hope this helps .
Hate sounding dumb, but uninstalling android? How n I won't lose the moboot n android ?
I believe T's 3.0._ the one before 3.0.5
Thanks a lot...

Yes you you will lose everything but that is the point in order for ota (over the air ) update. Copy all of your personal files to your computer and the nandroid backup you are going to make . Then after you have removed Android and updated Webos reinstall Android like you did the first time with ACMEInstaller2. Don't worry I have copies of all the files you will need ie moboot , gapps, and cmw with links in another post .
If you need to pm me .
Hope this helps to put your mind at rest.
Is there a benefit in updating WebOS? I keep thinking I will use WebOS to do a video call, or to show off Glimpse, but honestly I haven't had much of a need for Skype and I am increasingly happy with CM9. If and when it goes to Jelly Bean I seriously doubt I will ever boot back over to WebOS.

I use it for Skype and to update the latest preware apps but for the rest of the time (95%) I use Android.
it only takes 5 minutes to uninstall and 15 to reinstall. Do it when your bored.
I had no problems updating to 3.0.5. I did lose moboot, but that was an easy reinstall with Acmeinstaller. All my android files were untouched.
I would use webos more if it had more apps available. The battery life is much better than android, and the camera works. I use it for Skype. The preware tweaks really make a difference also.
Having a dual boot tablet is why I like the touchpad so much.

If you have any Kernel tweaks installed, they need to be removed. This fixed the install issue for me.

Linuxmint or Ubuntu or Fedora

I am looking into dual booting windows 7 and Linux but in am not really sure which should be my choice I am used To fedora
But in read Ubuntu is the way to go but not sure which is Android friendly.

I personally enjoyed fedora a little bit more than Ubuntu. But Ubuntu is more android friendly as far as I know.

Same here and I do not like the fact that Ubuntu does not have a menu like Fedora
Sent from my DROID RAZR CDMA XT912 using Tapatalk 2
Ubuntu by default uses the Unity desktop environment. Fedora uses Gnome. You can get the the same menus you just need to install the gnome desktop environment on Ubuntu. It should be in the software manager
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Also Ubuntu is much more geared toward android development then mint or fedora. While many of the guides you find for android development require or strongly recomend linux they are usually written for Ubuntu, and to get them to work on mint or fedora can be a pain due to package differences and other subtle differences.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Building from source is also possible on fedora I believe. You just need to install the build-essentials package as it installs all the required packages for building. And then install the gcc toolchain
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Mint is based off Ubuntu...shouldn't be much probs there.
I prefer Ubuntu over Mint in terms of everything.
Fedora I never tried.
I heard it's possible to build android even on Arch Linux. (pretty cool )
I've compiled cm7 kernel on arch Linux. The thing with arch Linux is its time consuming to set up and you must know what you are doing. Incase anything happens you might have to investigate. Arch Linux is a great distro as everything is almost always up to date. (Software repo called AUR) and you have full control over everything. It is so customizable that no two installs are the same.

Really not sure why this is in Android Development as it has nothing to do with either.
Moved to off-topic.
there's no best GNU/Linux than Ubuntu 10.04 (for developpment and for daily use)
so what package is in what not do I need to install on is it too then

I just did the windows installer with the 30 gig partition. Do I need to downgrade?
Sent from my DROID RAZR CDMA XT912 using Tapatalk 2
You don't have to downgrade if you don't want too. Unfortunately compliling anything other then the master branch of AOSP only has experimental support on 12.04. While you can compile other stuff there are some tweaks and other changes you'll probably need to make. Also things that compile fine on 10.04-11.10 will often result in compile errors on 12.04. Obviously these problems will eventually be sorted out they just can make things frustrating at times.

im currently running ubuntu 10.4 lucid,
i'm installing it alongside windows but the partition for the linux is ext4,
its better to have a ext4 for linux rather than NTFS,
as for your question,
im not sure since i used the alternative installer,
you can try the regular installer if it has an option to install into a NTFS partition

Yes. Didn't you notice the name change?:silly:
Op. Care to tell us anything else other than 'I did it'. Maybe the process, make a guide, anything at all that would make the community better?
Lol. Sorry. There is a ROM in the original development section that let's you dual boot. You can download the boot image from there.

Do you have a custom ROM and Ubuntu or stock ROM with Ubuntu?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
AOKP 4.2 and Ubuntu. I was running the Multi ROM from the Original Android Development section. It does just that, lets you running several ROMS. I don't have much of a need other than AOKP and Ubuntu but it's awesome you can choose which ROM to boot. I wound up screwing up everything last night by messing around. I wiped my entire tab. I loaded Ubuntu on my PC and managed to reinstall Ubuntu on my tablet, while wiping out everything. So now I have to redo everything. That's what I get for messing around with things I have no idea about. But for me thats the only way I learn.
If you want to run Ubuntu too, check out the Multi ROM. Works very well for me and seems like for quite a number of others.

[Q] Eclipse ADT sees my device but adt debugging doesn't work

I used to write apps for my phone and run them through adb, but recently I tried to do it and I realized I can't. USB drivers are installed, eclipse sees my phone, in android console it writes that application is installed but on my phone the app is not installed and won't run. But if I install the apk manually and then try to run it, it runs without any problems so I don't think there's any error in the code. Can you please help me?
Hi fellow dev!
What version of Eclipse are you using?
