[TUTORIAL] ROOT LG Optimus 4X HD - EASY! (P880) - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hello guys, I decided to post the an easy method to root your Optimus 4X HD! You don't even need to use any command prompt for this, or run any commands. The only problem is that this is chinese language, so you have to click the exact buttons I tell you. At the end of this tutorial, you will have a rooted phone. Until now, no bricked phones have come out of this process! It only takes 5 minutes!
ALL Firmwares are supported.
1. Download this file: MOD EDIT
2. Install the software, using the installation buttons as you would on any other windows installation.
3. When you have installed it, you will see a green button, press it. Then connect your phone on USB debugging mode.
4. When the phone is connected the software will recognise the phone and the green button will show "ROOT", click on it.
5. The phone is going to be rooted in some seconds and the process is finished when it will show a tick on the software.
6. The phone will reboot.
7. When it is rebooted, go to google play and download super su.
8. Open super su and it will ask you to update the binaries, and you must click on update, and then normal.
9. A window in chinese will pop up on the phone, this is the screen that allows you to give root permissions to any app. You must click the button on the right.
10. You are done! Root process is complete!
11. This is the most important step. Leave a thanks! If you liked the tutorial, please show it to me!

Trust me it works. I used it on my phone and it worked perfectly, and I can show you other people that also made it work. You don't even have to worry about installing extra stuff and bricking it..

Not many people will try this if it is in Chinese ass well as no screenshots or some proof of the ability of this "tool".
And adfly links aren't allowed either if I'm right but I just leave it to @laufersteppenwolf

Proof that it works.

Witch version of the P880 did you have on your phone, when you tried this?
V20b?

All the versions should work, not sure about the version on the P880. When I tried with my P760 it was on the V20 though.

Okey, so I tried this, and a can say that this is working.
I followed instructions, was a bit anxious at first about this, and according to my "Root checker", "Root access is granted"
:good: :cyclops:
If anyone wonders, i'm on V20b
And as the OP said; Takes no more than 5 minutes!

You're right, adf ly is not allowed, goo.gl however is allowed, as it's only a link shortener, not pay-per-click
However, all it does is making the impression there is something to hide, which means less users will click it

So this means this is untested?
Thread closed, as this is untested, as well an chinese-only, which can cause problems during the rooting process. Also the way it works is not really clear, as a virus scan should bring up something, but it doesn't... (yes, every rooting kit is some kind of a "virus")

If this program has helped you, please consider donating.
There is a new download link as the Multiupload one was broken so everyone should be able to download the file now.
Description: To help automate flashing custom ROMs onto the Samsung Vibrant.
MODS: Please do not move this to another section as this is for Android development and is installed on the users computer not the phone. Thanks!
Disclaimer: I'm distributing this program as-is and no guarantee that it will not hurt your phone. So, use at your own risk and don't blame me for bricking your phone. I am to not be held liable for any outcome of the use of this program.

Things to do/know before using this program:
When you select the PIT and PDA files, it should default to the installed location and if not then browse to where you installed AIO Vibrant Toolbox as the files are in there.
Have .net4 installed. Download Here.
Enable USB debugging mode- Go to settings> Applications> Development> And then check the box next to USB debugging.
Have the ROM of your desire downloaded to your hard drive (In the program, Select ROM means the custom ROM you downloaded.).
Know a little bit about flashing and ROMs.
And that's about it. Most of the instructions are given to you by the program and are not needed to be written out here. If you find any part confusing, please comment in this thread and I'll try to implement it in the next release and I'll tell you what it means as a temporary solution.
If you ever accidentally press the download mode button when you didn't mean to, just unplug your device and do a battery pull.
To perform a master clear using ODIN, after flashing the stock firmware back onto the device, leave the phone plugged into the computer and keep ODIN open. Just click Master Clear in ODIN. !This will wipe everything off of the built-in storage (besides the stock ROM and stock apps)!
Download
If there are any bugs PM me and I'll try to get them fixed.
Just in case anyone wanted them. Here are the drivers in a smaller and automated installer that I created. It's the same that's used in my program so if you have my program installed you don't need to worry about these. -32 bit -64bit

Thank you! I've tried to make it as beginner friendly as possible as I remember trying to flash my first custom ROM on my captivate and had to read for like 3 days straight to finally figure out an easy method to do so and figured I'd write a program to help others out.
Very nice bro. Keep up the good work!!
Initial release 2.5? no 1.0?
thanks for the program!!! i'm just messing with you.
can't wait to try it out.
looks like a fantastic app... I do have one question. Does the app take into account lag-fixes, particularly voodoo? From what I could see it does not and a new guy could easily rely on the app for protection in these regards. If not an in app disclaimer might be a worthy addition.
Great app and it will come in very to a lot of people.

Chainfire's CF Auto-Root confirmed working for Sprint SPH-L720

I just wanted to let everyone know that I was able to (very easily) auto-root my SPRINT GS4 using Chainfire's auto-root.
The thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39901375
Please give him all credit - I just wanted to make sure that if someone came looking here they could get info on how to root and where to look rather than hunting all over XDA.
Cheers!

I did charge it to full, but there are many varying schools of thought on that subject. Typically I charge to full then run to 0 and charge to full a few cycles. I have my phone in my dock right now, but the cord to the dock unplugged so it isn't charging.
Not trying to be a kill joy by any means but people Chainfire is a pretty smart dude and has created a lot of things. Not saying that this wont work on Sprint variant but make sure you see his disclaimer.
NOTE:
Some have reported success on Sprint S4's, though I still advise against using it and waiting for a Sprint specific version.
I used this root method, too. Everything is working great.

does this cause the yellow triangle to appear on the boot screen?
I successfully used Motochopper as well. It took me several times to get the ADB prompt to show, but it showed when I had entered the Dev Options menu.

No but it might show your device as custom in Odin and under About device:Status Didn't check it before I flashed CWM. Triangle away doesn't clear it yet.
So which is the best method?

At this point, it's a use and test function of root required applications..
We have had a report of an application not functioning properly on Motochopper where CF's Autoroot works just fine.
Use and report is the best response to your question.
I've tried every root app I could think of and so far no issues with the CF method. Of course YMMV.

I actually did mototchopper method. Worked perfect. Easy to unroot if I want. People having problems with certain apps might not have had busybox installed. That was the first root app I installed and I haven't had a single issue. Does cf-auto root automatically install busybox? Also, does anyone know which apps are safe to remove or freeze? Any working recoveries out yet?

If he has problems with drivers and would search for it he would've probably got something like "try other drivers" or "reinstall drivers".
Or at least try kdz flash.
Search for brick and then follow the suggestions given on the outcomes.

Its very likely out device makes use of a sbk, which it uses to encrypt all nvflash communication (nvflash is a nvidia protocal for acessing pre-bootloader states, with tegra devices this is done through apx mode.) Without knowing the sbk we have little hope of accessing nvflash via apx. I dont think it would be impossible to use a nexus 7 / asus tablet method to access nvflash but its a seroius undertaking for even the most skilled of developers.

^^^^ This is EXACTLY why people need to develop brains and learn to search and read. A member who has been here a while has given you a hint so you should think "OK, I'll do some research and see what he is suggesting".
If you flash a custom ROM + gApps and it does ANYTHING unexpected, the first step should be to check the downloaded files are good and reflash again following the correct, clean, procedure.
Always eliminate the easy stuff before looking for anything more difficult.

there is an issue, and we dont know (and dont care) why it happens with our roms, if you flash them without gapps, hw touch buttons might not work. it's fixed by flashing gapps, and since i havent seen anyone not use gapps, it's not a big issue. try it, and report back

Why would anybody try to fix an issue which appears if you don't flash Gapps (or the Gapps are broken)? Do you want your device to be "Google-Unchained"? Or why would you bother not to install Gapps? I think nobody does see a point in fixing a bug caused by this.

You've been advised and advised again by THREE different senior members now.
You have two very simple choices;-
1) Revert to the 'Stock' LG ROM and use your phone the way LG wanted it to work
2) Accept the fantastic work of our developers, understand that you need Google Apps to use the phone properly, and enjoy the freedom that comes with it
I understand that you are lazy and refuse to search or read, which is why you have created 17 threads since you joined XDA, all of which have been simple questions you could have found the answers for yourself. XDA is not a helpdesk for noobs, it is a site for DEVELOPMENT, so I would suggest that you put your brain in gear before attempting to continue your argument.

My 1st own project - upgrading Nexus 5 to Nougat

First thing needed: Google USB drivers, if you install them, they'll install automaticly after device plug in.
Second: unlocked bootloader, i don't remember what command is for that (i've done it a lot time ago) but on google site it is. Of course, you need to do it by fastboot.
Third: recovery, TWRP from their site and flash by fastboot.
Fourth: rom flash by recovery, it'll be easy.
Little instructions for you
finally I am all good with Nougat on my Nexus 5

I spend almost 5 hours in one single day and I was a kind of shock after having a Nougat on my Nexus.
One thing here is for sure that restart may resolve problem in windows on 1st try but on the phone have to be patience and still rebooting the device may solve many problems...
Thanks a lot to seniors and other developers for their job....
It can't be more short

First thing needed: Google USB drivers, if you install them, they'll install automaticly after device plug in.
Second: unlocked bootloader, i don't remember what command is for that (i've done it a lot time ago) but on google site it is. Of course, you need to do it by fastboot.
Third: recovery, TWRP from their site and flash by fastboot.
Fourth: rom flash by recovery, it'll be easy.
Little instructions for you
