Galaxy Nexus died. Debating about waiting for this or staying with the Nexus devices.

I am upgrading from an S4 to the S5 unless somehow Samsung manages to drastically screw up the S5.

Seems more appropriate to say "moving" to s5.. since it's not out n all. Also.. it's a new phone, that's reason enough lol. I've never understood how people can keep the same phone for 2 years. Ugg.... I sell mine and buy something different ever 3 or 4 months. And I always get the latest flagship from HTC or samsung. Simply because it's the latest flahship.

If you sell your phone while it still has value, and you got it on an upgrade offer, you can make enough to support a new phone every few months
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk

I am coming from my Galaxy Nexus that I have had for almost 2 years, I still love my nexus but am due for an upgrade since november and have been holding out for the S5 as long as it isn't completely screwed up

I will be coming from an S2 running Shostock 3. I really do not need a new phone as mine is working perfectly, but I waited out the S3 and the S4 so I figured with this new Jump program from At&T I would look into the S5. But as much as I want it, if the price is not right for me I will keep my old reliable and wait a little longer

From Note 3, please! please!! please!!! Samsung, Blow me away! I need 64bit and fingerprint scanner at the least to shut up those pesky iDevices users.

So in my case I would every 6 months reconfigure all my 17 e-mail accounts, all my google drive settings, skype, gchat, teamviewer, all 300 apps, all TW settings, all my phone book and contacts settings..
to do this every 6 months is really stupid.. every 3 years, ok.. i can take 3 days to do it..

Why would you have to "reconfigure" anything? As soon as you sign into your Google account on a new phone all contacts and settings are synced, emails are setup and all is well.
Do you not use Google to setup your contact lists and emails? If you really do have 17 email accounts, you can have Google manage them. All emails will go to your primary gmail account, when you respond to an email that came from one of those accounts, it will automatically use the address it was sent to as the outgoing address. People who correspond with you will have no idea you responded from your primary address.
When I get a new phone, I sign in to my Google account and within a few minutes,
Other than having new hardware, it's identical to the old phone. Sometimes smart phones need "smart" users.

Google Pay Account

Hi i got 1 question, how many devices that 1 google play email account can handle? I first registered my google play account using my old galaxy s2. I sold my galaxy s2 and brought Galaxy note + galaxy tab 10.1. My galaxy s2 still appear in my google play account so i had to deactived coz i'm no longer using it. I'm planning to sell my galaxy note and my tab 10.1 and buy galaxy note 2 and galaxy note 10.1. Is there any restrictions for me to be able to download any apps that i purchased using my old devices with the same shared email account?

if you are using the same account on which u have purchased. it should be ok provided it is compatible with ur current phone
If that so i'm no longer worried. Because 1 of my friend told me, it only can support up to 5 devices per email account.

Gizmodo: What It's Like to Have a Nexus 7 As a Phone

http://m.gizmodo.com/5973469/what-its-like-to-have-a-nexus-7-as-a-phone
An idea I've been kicking around for a couple months now. I finally accepted that I won't ever own a computer or laptop. I despise my Note 2, the only thing keeping me on it is LTE, obviously the 7 lacks. But a larger screen is something I keep wanting more and more. The only other problem is the worrying dependency on GV in order to make it work.
Very nice article.
I don't think the Nexus 7 will fit in my pockets, and also, Google Voice isn't free in my country and isn't really supported, so I prefer my regular Galaxy Ace for the outside, and the Nexus 7 for the inside .
I use mine as a wifi phone with the groove IP app, when my phone goes dead.

Did you sell your Nexus 4? Are you going to?

Sold it/Traded it and happy
Sold it/Traded it and regret it
Going to sell it
Going to keep it
Unsure
4. Going to keep it for a year.
The price is pretty good so I could afford to upgrade yearly and it would still be the same price as other devices...only thing that kills is the ****en wait! And order process!
It's definitely a keeper for now!

Probably.

4, I love the phone and I sold my Note II for it. I'll probably keep it for the year unless the S4 or HTC M7 really catches my eye.
As soon as I get my Experia Z, I will keep it for what it was bought to be, a development phone I can play with.
4. Think I'll keep this thing till there are actual octacores otherwise there aren't any reasons to upgrade. So 3-4 years I'll keep it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I still go back and forth between my Galaxy Nexus and my Nexus 4. I use the Galaxy Nexus when I'm snowboarding and for bar nights when I know things might get a little weird.
While I do still love the Galaxy Nexus, every time I pop the SIM card back into the Nexus 4 and turn it on I am instantly reminded of how much more solid the build quality and performance are on the Nexus 4. It really is an extremely noticeable difference.
For that reason I'll definitely be holding onto this phone for at least a year. At which point I'll probably get whatever the next Nexus is and use the Nexus 4 as the backup phone.

he said "actual octacore" as in 8 cores fire all at once. Samsung's new chip is 8 cores but it operates as a quad core. Only 4 cores are ever used at any point in time.

Waiting for the 32GB model; if not the price isn't going to go up anyway.

Anyone thinking about switching to the Nexus 5?

I was offered a trade for a 32gb Nexus 5 for my Note 3. I was wondering if anyone is also considering this. I am stuck between the two. The only thing thats keeping me from doing the trade is that the battery is awful on the Nexus 5. Just wanted some opinions on this. Thanks
Nope. U getting some extra cash (I mean 399 vs 650) cause straight trade doesn't make sense, might as well sell the note and buy a new nexus

Definitely not worth the trade... If you wanted to you can just buy one used in a month for probably less than 300 and have both phones
agree with everyone here. just read all the reviews on both everywhere if you're still unsure. note 3 is still the best phone on the market. i was in your shoes too deliberating between the two and picked the note 3; very glad i did.
I'm sold on the Nexus 5 after I persuaded my coworker to get one, but I wouldn't even consider trading my note 3 for it.
The truth is I'm having some awful luck with my note. I'm on my 2cd device and I can't seem to stay connected to a wifi network. Plus the home button on both went from perfectly pushable to a sunk in button I have to mash with my fingernail. Sammy definitely didn't hit a home run as far as build quality imho.

This thread is all kinds of wrong. First the Note 3 is worth a considerable amount more than a Nexus 5. Second, this phone beats it in some important categories including screen, battery life and features.
And last but not least, stock Android blows. Especially the latest version with those big and ugly icons. Stock Android is super boring to me and too light on features.
Just my opinion but don't do it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda premium
Even with the bloat I think the Note 3 is far superior to any of Nexus devices. I even think the S4 is as well.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Battery life on the Nexus 5 compared to the Note 3, is night and day. The N5 can't even last a day, not even close.
And I still love the deep Plasma blacks, and vibrant colors of AMOLED screens, I've seen the N5 in store, and it looks washed out in comparison.
Plus more RAM on the Note 3.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
Making a phone with that small of a battery is like putting a 3 gallon gas tank on a car...almost not usable. 3,500-4,000 mah should be the standard on phones these days. You would be very disappointed with the trade.
Note 3 -- Tapatalk version [HORRIBLE.1x]
Erica Griffin from YouTube did a mini review of the Nexus 5 and she was only about 3:30 uptime, 2:20 screen time and she was at 26% battery. It's a joke and even she was saying the same pretty much.
If you are a moderate to heavy user in any way, why would you even consider the Nexus 5?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda premium
I just returned my nexus 5 today. It's hard to use anything with a non amoled screen after you have used a phone with an amoled screen.
The nexus 5 camera was also horrible.
Sad part is, I bought the nexus 5 and gave my wife my note 3 and now she won't give it back, so it's back to the sgs4 for me

I'm curious to see if certain carriers are more affected than others. VZW here and not on list. Either way, now with the USCPSC involved all phones will have to be replaced so am not sure this checker is effective:
CPSC and Samsung are working cooperatively to formally announce an official recall of the devices, as soon as possible. CPSC is working quickly to determine whether a replacement Galaxy Note7 is an acceptable remedy for Samsung or their phone carriers to provide to consumers.*

T-Mobile here and confirmed on the list of effected phones. I am pretty sure I am just returning mine for a full refund and going back to my Note 5 for now. I got the free Gear Fit 2 which was the main reason I pre-ordered the phone. Now I can just return it and wait and see if they do another free promotion later to try and boost sales or maybe go with another device.
