Help Me Get/Develop Google Glass

I received an invite to the Google Glass Explorer Program after I signed up to be notified of its availability. Unfortunately the timing could not have been worse. Just 3 weeks ago I got laid off from my Engineering Job and am currently working on paying off my student loans.
I have been so interested in Google Glass because I have limited eye sight and view the device as a great step towards providing people like myself a great aid in their everyday life. My goal has been to get my hands on a unit and develop apps for those with limited vision. I saw Google developers showing off the translating capabilities just a short while ago and view it s a great proof of what this device can do.
I am trying to get some help with funding for this undertaking. I know that the Android Community is a great group to reach out to for some potential help. I have set up a gofundme.com to try and get some help with the cost, since its not a great financial investment given my current situation. However I really want to get my hands on it and really try to use my experiences and engineering background to develop somethings people with limited vision can utilize.

Sorry to hear about your job. In terms of google glass for those with limited eye sight, I applaud the dream, but the reality is that you actually need really good vision to use google glass. The screen is TINY. I have 20/15 vision and I often have to squint to read what the text says. In its current form, I dont think it would work at all for someone with limited eye sight. Just wanted to give you a heads up before you invested the $1,800 with those expectations.
In terms of donations, it would help if you were a recognized xda developer or contributor rather than this being your first post on the forums. At least a link to your development work on github or contributions on stack exchange would definitely help sway those generous enough to donate. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck!

Firefighter Poll

Hey guys, I'm doing an assignment for class and need a poll done on the following question. Just let me know who you would save, if you want to list why go ahead.
While working as a firefighter you and another firefighter go into a burning building to rescue a baby, you get seperated from your fellow firefighter and come*across a baby. Your fellow firefighter ends up running out of air and you now can only help the baby or your fellow firefighter. Who do you help and why?
Thanks for helping.

Hello, old thread but I want to answer. I'm workin as a volunteer firefighter. I'd say that this is very difficult moral question, that has been on my mind too
I'd go to help my fellow firefighter, because I think that in principle it is bad to lose rescuers - so in the end, who will then be rescuing people if rescuers die in their duty? That's why I'd rescue my fellow firefighter.
I'd rescue my colleague. In a heartbeat.
As innocent as a baby is, your fellow firefighter is relying you you just as much as you on him/her. You have a duty to watch each other's backs. That's the reason you can keep doing the job, because you keep each other alive. In these cases it's a matter of who is the most valuable. And whether society's moral compass likes it or not, that's the man or woman whose life revolves around saving other people's lives.
I'd save the baby. The reason behind the entrance is to save lives. You know the risks of the job when you start.

Andromeda Epsilon Smartphone startup

Hi everyone!
Now I have bin designing a lot of phones as concepts and with that i keep learning more and more. Now i get a lot of mails about people asking me to join them in there bisnuss and design for them. Now I had this before and that was all a social test which cost me a lot of time.. But now! It's finally time to start something with a group of people.
Ryan of Andromeda came to me asking me if I could be there designer and well that's what I have bin doing now and I have bin working hard on creation a great design but also one that is great in the hands!
With that we started to go to the first fase and in this we started a Gofundme page, If you guys have time it would be great if you could look at it for now I will place renders within this thread and I wish to invite you to watch the phone and maybe help us get there by either donating or sharing the page! every single bit of help is welcome!
Mod edit: Link removed

Okay, why should I (or anyone) fund you? It looks like the only thing your company has now are some renders. You're throwing around all these high end specs but your company has no experience designing phones. You're in the early stages of development and you're already quoting $549 as the price? You seriously think you can offer a high quality phone with these high end specs? The other major players in the market already have tons of experience, tons of connections. I suggest instead of trying to crowdfund, you try to get actual investors on board. Good luck!
Sorry, but XDA isn't here to help you make money, regardless of the cause.

Howdy Peeps

Howdy, Names Roxxo, DrRoxxo, The rock n roll clown and I... Nevermind
Anywho, I am an avid researcher of root and r/w access on Android phones. I love to learn and teach in turn. If there's ever something I can help with, I gladly will and I am certainly not shy to ask for help myself. (Because surely I'll need it often xD)
It's good to be here on XDA amongst like minds. Don't be a stranger, Let's get all friendly and neighborly up in here!

Howdy and welcome aboard!
You will find loads of great info about your interest, just have a good search.
Enjoy!
Thanks! I appreciate the sentiment. I am happily Perusing and finding great topics of interest as well as helpful software. Great forum, this here XDA.

[Introductions] Hello XDA!

Hey there coding people! Hi! I'm James, (SpaceGhostInTheMachine) and I joined the XDA community to gain access to one INCREDIBLE knowledge base. You guys, this community.. is the epitome of what it means to be neighborly. It's astonishing to see such an atmosphere here in the interwebs. Most internet people are toxic as you may have witnessed. I am new to the coding world. For the last year I've delved headlong into the CLI and it's languages. The AOSP is still very foreign to me, but I'm getting a bit more familiar with source code everyday. I enjoy working with HMI's and I would like to start designing UX's for IoT hub interfaces and displays. There's so much to learn. I am a multipotentialite or a polymath, not to tout. That just means I know a lot about a lot. Also, means I MUST absorb all the available information pertaining to.. well.. everything. If there's anything I can teach or any way I can help anyone. Call upon me and there are no stupid questions. Only over-complicated solutions to simple problems. Thanks for having me! Take care!
