Just got a Hands-on with it at Best Buy in Union, NJ! - Galaxy S 5 General

So, Union, NJ is one of the only stores in the area that has it on display for customer demos!
One word.. WOW!
Samsung has really done it this time! Most innovative phone since the S3 in 2012! The entire TouchWiz UX is BRAND NEW! No more color and texture variations in different menus and apps. It all looks unified!
Also, the phone is super fast! I used my S4 running 4.4.2 AT&T side by side and it lags a lot vs. the S5! I thought my S4 was fast until I used the S5 today..
Here are some pics I took while in-store:

Did you test out the camera? Is it as fast as they suggest it is?

Its very snappy, at least for me. Testing N900F unit with 801 Snap and its feeling gr8t. Someone told that plastic is not good, but for me this one is quite different. The making is very good. And it feels kinda the right weight in hand too. The back cover feels great and very tight. This little S5 is fast, all i can say. But i'm a bit disappointed with the camera. Poor picture quality in low light, not as advertised with the new ISOCELL sensor.
Every time your open your charging port cover or your back, it even pops up with warning that careful check so that the phone can sustain water splash. Very cool!
TW working flawlessly and snappy with smooth fade in, scrolling transition.

The reviews is just based on my own opinion ( i'm a phone addict and normally I can get hands on some gr8t flagship fones with various brands kinda quick just after released ) and this is what i feel. I'm using a grey S5 and it is very good built. Also tested on White but i don't feel like the White is white. Instead its kinda pearly and girly Just get your hands on an actual one and feel it. I don't believe in any of the web or video or whatever reviews on internet but rather touch it and use it meself.

The camera, i havent had chances to test much but in general, auto mode gives you worst pictures. But HDR mode, the camera works very well. Very very fast focus time.

Still has the ugly green toggles....sigh....
Thx for the hands on pics. .phone back looks nicer than i had thought originally.

Could you take a couple close up hi res pictures of the front and back of the black/gray model you have? And a couple pictures showing the hardware keys and notification light lit up? I had a white S3 way back and couldn't stand how the keys and light would light up the surrounding areas. Thanks! And thanks for getting us an early hands on

much improved! I would say super-smooth for sure! there is also an option to change the type of animation you see when switching through home screen pages. You can select a card stack, which is default on the S5, and looks really smooth. You can also choose the 3D flip view like the S4 or just choose to turn it off. Also there is no noticable lag when flipping through settings or opening apps. I feel it is a little faster than the Note 3, I tested out both to compare.

Thanks for the pictures! Exactly what I wanted to see.

Loud : this phone is loud enough. I think it not as loud as S4 speakers but the sound is way warmer ( sometimes I feel it a bit too warm) . I think it because of the rubber band around the back cover for water resistant that created an air-gap that keep all low freqncies stay there ( now it actually becomes a speaker cabinet ) . When hear on loudspeakers, the sound is very warm but you can also feel the vibration in the back while holding this baby.
Earpiece : sounds fine to me, just so Samsung ( if you know what i mean as they are not so good in audio coding haha, at least to my trained ears). But definitely sound awesome while I hooked it up to my Sony bluetooth SBH 80 stereo headset. I believe AptX works straight out of the box, no doubt.

I think it still does unfortunately I also think that the finger print sensor is somewhat annoying. In order for the phone to recognize your finger print at once, you have to hold your phone with 1 hand, and use the other hand to swipe and place your fingers RIGHT in the middle as instructed, then the phone read it well. If you don't do it properly ( like the iPhone 5S, you can just use 1 hand to do both actions : Hold, use thumb to swipe in any direction and unlock ) then it will never work!
In my opinion, the 5S right now doesnt have rivals in term of finger prints sensor.

[Q] Does anyone have the note and nexus?

Only had my note for about 24 hours, coming from a gs2.
The only thing bumming me out is that I can't one hand this guy at all. Is the nexus that much easier to hold with one hand if at all?
I have the Note and Galaxy Nexus w/ ICS. The nexus is much easier for one handed but the keyboard S***s. I have installed other keyboards but will not change. Nexus nice but needs some tweaking, also a lot of menus on the top of the screen which is a bummer for one handed. Kinda like the Iphone, always needing to go to the top of the screen which I dislike. Hook up a Platronics HD head phone and you will be surprised what can be done over bluetooth, ie respond to a text while the phone stays in your pocket
---------- Post added at 05:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:30 PM ----------
Bluetooth on the NOTE
So your saying because ICS lacks the menu key, the apps put the menu key functionality in the top right of the screen? I can JUST reach that corner on my GS2's 4.2, there is no way I will be able to with a 4.65.
Not having both devices in hand, I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to send my note back for a nexus. Any other thoughts you have in the "vs" department? Does the nexus feel more like a gs2 in its pocketablity or is it just a little smaller feeling than the note?
doing an OVA update on the Nexus. Checkout update and then post a pic of the nexus screen vrs S ll screen on the menu issue.
Looks like if you can swipe task bar easily then no problem getting to the three squares (menu).
I have both, Nexus obviously much better for one-handed use if that is the main criteria.
Thanks for the replys guys. I had a couple more questions.
Does text on the nexus websites (like engadget) appear sharper when zoomed all the way out because of the higher dPi?
Is the curved glass not much of a advantage?
How much lighter is the nexus? My note feels like a brick next to the gs2.
Can you see the same pentile matrix grid effect (if that what it is) on solid colors?
Do you live in Portland and I can come compare
If you had to pick one device to be your daily driver until the galaxy s3 comes out what would it be? I've sold my gs2 so can keep or return my note for a nexus. I really can't decide. I remote desktop a ton and the pen is kind of a letdown for that, its almost too responsive and bounces around making right clicking or even double clicking difficult. I find myself pinch zooming and finger taping anyway.
Thanks for any input you have, I'm running out of time to decide if I want to return my nite for a nexus.

Yes, but obviously it's a lot smaller than on the Note at that zoom so readability difference between them is moot for me.

A lot lighter. Goes without saying really, difference feels similar to the SGSII to Note difference (Nexus slightly heavier than the SGSII, but basically similar).

I don't think it's pentile, I think it's all SAMOLED screens, the SGSII has the same uneven tone on solid colours (particularly noticeable on lower brightness settings and grey backgrounds). At any rate the Nexus definitely has this.

Note for me, Nexus has too many compromises for my personal usage (no expandable memory, camera not very good, worse GPU/CPU, worse GPS), but depending on your needs it may suit you.

Sony Xperia T - my review

Now that I had enough time to play with the Sony Xperia T, I can give you my impressions about the new flagship phone of the Japanese manufacturer. There are already a lot of reviews and comparisons on the Internet so I will just tell my personal feelings about the phone. From the beginning I have to tell you that I am not a Samsung fan (although they do great hardware, the design is crap and the interface is ugly) nor an Apple fan (as some say it is built for people with average to low IQ).
Coming back to Xperia T, the size and weight are OK, even though some people are complaining is heavy, I don’t have that problem, it fits well in my pocket. The material on the back side is also good, having good adherence with your hands. Power and volume buttons are placed on the right side (well placed for right handed people, I am not sure if left handed people are confortable with this).
Camera is one of the best features the Xperia T is having, you can shoot great pictures in 13 megapixels. What really stands out is the speed of the camera: in lock mode you can press the camera button and in less than 1.5 seconds you have the first shot. Don’t worry, the camera button is not easy to press in the pocket.
USB port supports also HDMI output and I was able to connect a USB to HDMI adaptor from Samsung to connect the phone to the TV (your TV must support HDCP). You need to connect the charging adaptor in order for this to work (but I guess this is the same for the Sony TV dock) and will keep you the phone charged. The good thing is that I have a Bluetooth keyboard (with touchpad) that I can connect to the phone and while connected to the TV i can really use the phone as normal PC! This feature probably works with other phones as well. Video output is 1080p so the quality on phone screen and TV is great. If you want to connect the phone to the car USB (for charging the phone or playing the music) you need to set USB to Mass Storage mode (MSC) in Settings - Xperia - Connectivity - USB connection mode.

I have had my SXT since saturday now and I think it is a great phone but there is quite a few negative points it has.
So let me get to them:
*the camera still has that issue of being slow to focus sometimes and in video aswell which means you still miss shots which really jarred me when i had the sxs.
*the speaker for earpiece and loudspeaker should have been louder as outside you cant hear the phone ring and you can barely hear what people are saying on the phone
*you can barely see the notifcation light unless the phone is directly infront of you
*Battery life is average, doesnt last a day under moderate usage, lasts about 20 hours

I actually like the fact that notification LED light is low with my Arc it was like a night lamp.
20 hours are enough for one day. During night I'm always charging the phone
For the earpiece and loudspeker I have to disagree, at least I didn't have such issues. for ringing I am using also vibrating mode
Earpiece and speaker seriously could be louder and the notification light could have been better, in these three aspects they have taken a backwards step from the xperia s imo.
As I use headsets for calls anyway phone calls isn't a issue.
The ARCs notification light was stupid as it was on the side of the phone which imo was pointless also.
Other than that I really enjoy my SXT.

I agree. I also barely see that notification light. On XPERIA S when I put it on charger notification light was lighting like flash. I had to cover it over night because notification light was so bright. Maybe something between notification light on XPERIA T and XPERIA S would be good.
When the light is poor camera is slow on focus almoust every time but outdoor over day everything is OK.
Everything else is excellent and no complaints.

Thanks for the info on the camera focus, however I wish SONY would fix that because my HOX focuses straight away in low light and so did the S3. Also I didn't mind the brightness of the LED on the xperia s, the sgs3 or my hox. I like it like that means I can just look over at my phone and see if i have a text or something at night as my phone has to be on silent as not to wake my daughter. As it is I have to pick the phone up and check.
Aside from that yea I really love my SXT and am looking forward to the Yuga or whatever it is going to be called.
hi. Im currently using HTC One V and planning to buy HTC One S, but unfortunately HTC One S in my region is theSnapdragon S3 version. so I'm thinking to buy this phone instead. one thing that bothering me is that it doesn't have a Gorilla Glass display (plastic body is OK). so my question is the Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass on it's screen is as durable as Gorilla Glass screen? I like the phone in general. the other things that I like about this phone are community suport, official CM support etc.

It sort of is. The screenprotector (shatter-proof sheet) that is on there by default scratches easier than Gorilla Glass, but the glass itself is really quite durable!

thanks for the reply. do you think the phone still requires an additional screen protector? and what about a case/soft jacket etc, since the back cover is plastic, do you think it needs a case? (I'm afraid to squeeze it in my jean's pocket), but I can put this on my jacket though to prevent that. I'm going to buy it tomorrow (3 youtube videos make me love this phone):good:.
The Xperia T is the first phone where I've ever used the stock keyboard it comes with... I think its brilliant and so easy to type on.
There's lots of things I love about the phone, I do wish the notification LED was bigger however but meh... some phones don't even have one!
Thanks for the mini review of the Xperia T. I'm itching to purchase this baby, but will wait a few more days. The Xpera T will be an upgrade in terms of smartphone OS transition. Coming from a Nokia N8 handset, I don't feel the XT will be a huge upgrade seeing how the N8 is still the best camera phone as of this day and the 13MP on the XT, as stated by many reviews, just isn't that great (camera quality and dedicated camera button are huge decision makers for me).
Heck, every friend who played with my N8 thought it was running Android OS. :victory:
In terms of speed, I probably won't notice the lag even if lag was present if I were to compare it to the N8.
LED notification; the N8 notification light is horrible. I can definitely live with the "poor" notification light on the XT if it's significantly more noticeable than the N8.
Anyways, nice review.

Hi. Wellcome aboard N8 refugee. Been using it for about 7 hours now. You will not notice any lag whatsoever. The Krait processor is awesome. I bought this phone just because it has Snapdragon S4 processor, I don't use camera that much. The notification light issue is not a big deal for me.

My Xperia T still hasn't arrived (FedEx ) but my Xperia S has the same display type and I'd never cover it with yet another screen protector.
Just use it as it comes. The default screen protector will last you quite some time. I've had my Xperia S since the day of release, 8 months now and my display is still near-perfect. When you've got scratches on the display you just remove the "shatter-proof sheet" and replace it with your own screen protector and your display is as good as new!
Again, no experience with the T, but on my Xperia S the (probably significantly less rough) back got some glossy spots from the friction in my pockets. But the material is completely different so I can't say how the T will fare here...

Guys,
My wife is still using the X10 with the original screen protector. It is very good. I did the mistake to remove it from my old X10 and no other screen protector was good enough. But the screen was excellent even without screen protector. My advice is to keep it there, I have it on the Arc since 1.5 years and it's still OK.

Went to best buy today during lunch. They had 3 of them on display. Looks great, solid build, and the screen seems sharper and clearer than my note 3. On "basic mode" the color rendering is spot on. I'm digging the Note 4.
nice! i just went to play with them....damn i can't wait! all they had was white, and for once, I don't want a white phone. i wanna see the black.
but yeah that screen is amazing and bright. so crisp. and honestly the phone seems really snappy! didn't notice any lag. camera seemed cool but i can't really test it there. i'm excited!
funny thing too..there were like 4 of the BB samsung reps just standing around, and not ONE came up to me to ask if i had any questions or try to sell me something. i guess they don't work on commission huh?

Yeah I asked the rep if other stores in the area had black Note 4's but he said Samsung only sent out the white ones. Kinda bummed since I'm still not sure which color I want.

was excited to get to play with one at my best buy as I wasn't expecting it to have it since it's pretty small. to be honest it didn't do much for me. i realized I don't gaf about the metal trim. the white back still has that crappy plastic feeling (I love the rubbery feel of my black note 3. why are they different Samsung?!) it didn't feel much snappier or anything and the screen while noticeably brighter didn't seem all that much sharper than my note 3. one are which there was a big difference was in the rear camera. the note 4 took a picture of the best buy store with great contrast and popping colors (her mode on) while My note 3's pic was dim. I was pretty excited about the note 4 but now I'm not so sure I need to upgrade right away at launch.
Did they happen to have any of the cases already available.? Just curious if I can pick one up before the phone arrives.

So is the trade in a flat $200 gift card for ANY working smartphone ?
I stopped by my local best buy last night and got to play around with them. Had a sales rep come by and he was flipping through the screens and doing demos with the videos and stylus etc... Really a great sales pitch. He didn't have to sell me though as I already pre-ordered but I told him that early on and we still went through it both happily impressed. I think he sold himself on it from his S5! The screen is very impressive. I cannot believe how great the big demo videos look on that screen. I'm even more excited now to get it and put this iphone 5 on ebay.
I played with the frost white model at my local Best Buy, yesterday. They had three working models. Very beautiful phone. The little metal trim really adds a lot to the niceness of the phone. I was most impressed with the crispness of the screen, how extremely loud the speaker was — despite the rear placement, and how beautiful 4K photos and videos looked on the device. You can definitely see the screen quality difference between the Note 3 & 4, when watching the 4K demo videos on the Note 4. Just completely breathtaking!! I was sick of seeing nothing but the same, boring, stock blue static wallpaper found in every single review, so I changed it to the vibrant wallpaper in the photo I included, and I also changed it to one of the blue phase beam live wallpapers on the phone. Gorgeous!
Also, the faux leather backing on the Note 4 feels more like the black faux leather backing of the Note 3... not that extra firm hard plastic feel, found on the current white Note 3. The camera was nice, and I love the out-of-focus shot abilities, where you can enhance a portion of a photo, and blur out other portions. The wide-angle selfie mode was very nice, as well. The UI improvements are very nice, and more modern looking than what's found on the Note 3's 4.4.3 UI.
Overall, I was ready to upgrade, but I'm going to hold off due to a serious concern someone posted on here, about how 1080p movies would actually look on the Note 4. There seems to be some controversy as to whether or not the qHD screen would actually render 1080p movies better or worse than the Note 3. Taking that out of the equation, it would be worth the Next 12 upgrade for me.
Played with the Note 4 today at Best Buy as well. Streamed a 1080p movie to it, quality seemed fine. The speaker is louder then the Note 3. Couldn't test the camera to much the anti theft cord was to short.
Any one else notice the left capacitive button isn't a menu button anymore. Instead it's a recent app button. It confused me for a bit in the beginning.

Yes, the menu button's icon was changed to reflect that it is now a recent app button. It's been shown in many of the online videos. Not really sure why the change, or if the button can be reassigned without root. At any rate, the new recent apps menu looks worlds better than the one found on the Note 3.

It seems to be more close to stock android... I don't like it but just making a long press it will work as the menu button.
Played with a bit today..Want it even more.

So there's no menu button? Going back to the three dot soft key?

No menu button, same as the Galaxy S5. But like someone said, long press the recent app button and it functions as the menu button.

Buyers remorse

Only thing I dont like is that the USB C port cutout is too sharp. When I hold it with my finger, it seem to cut it at times
No regrets at all. Just AOSP rom would be a lot better, which should arrive soon.
The device has a piss-poor camera. Guess that's the only thing I regret. Its so bad that some phones almost 2years old takes better photos.
This is because of the very small Omnivision sensors used on this device.
But I knew about this even before I bought the device and since I don't take a lot of photos on my phone, it doesn't bother me much.
The fact that the device is very fragile and doesn't have any premium cases available also bugs me a bit. I really wish there were some decent looking protective cases for this phone.

Try the Pelosi case.
It's a slim TPU case with a sandstone finish & available in several colors.
It's available on eBay & several other on line retail sites

I've seen the Pelosi case online. The product images looked like the case didn't offer much in terms of protection, especially around the screen. Also the material seemed to be very light, possibly to keep the case slim. The case looks good and I was tempted to buy. I didn't because of these reasons.
But if you have the case and its good, please post photos in my thread. Link
I created that thread as there are very few good cases available for this device and if everyone could post photos of what case and screen protector they had on the device, it would help other buyers too.

That's the Love Mei Powerful case! I saw it a few days back on ebay. Mine is on the way from China. Did you get it too?
It should arrive next week. Have you ordered this too?
The case is a bit large though.
Please post pictures of your current setup on this thread and also if you happen to receive the Love Mei case before me.
Check out the case I am currently using. I have added photos here. Also available on ebay.

I did, until I got the unlock approval. I immediately flashed the xiaomi.eu rom and (most) of my gripes were dealt with; being android auto not working and horrible background battery drain. I still hate the home screen icon backgrounds, the fact it wont rotate, and the stock dpi... but other than that I am happy, for now.
My only complaint is that the screen is too small for my liking. I've had several larger phones in the past and I really miss the extra screen real estate. It almost seems like the screen is too skinny and long. So webpages are still small but long.

Try 320dpi. I'm lovin it! 320 was the stock dpi on the Xperia Z Ultra I had a few years back. And it works great on the Mix too. I feel 320 should have been the default DPI on the Mix.

I thought a dpi that low would break things on this device? Like the icons get screwed up or something?
I had a Z ultra too, loved it.

No issues mate! I'm on the EU ROM and I don't see any issues at 320. This should have been the stock DPI. I can confirm that everything works fine. No issues with icon or any UI elements. Stock apps and all the other usual apps work great as well. All good! You'll be able to see more info on the screen and I bet you'll love 320!
I was waiting for something like the Z Ultra to show up. And finally it did! If you had the Z Ultra, you may remember that camera wasn't Sony's priority. It was all about the experience. And Xiaomi has made that experience even better! The mix is just perfect!

I just tried 320DPI, oh man, I love it!!! It even fixed my News360 app that I love but would only show me 2 articles per screen on this phone and now shows 6!
The only downside is that top status bar with the clock and battery and such is pretty small. But that's certainly a good compromise as the reset of the phone looks normal now, all I did was bump the UI font size up from small to medium and it all looks great.
All of the icons appear to be working fine, but I use Nova Launcher, so maybe that why.
320 DPI is pretty much a standard DPI for android, and so I expect alot of apps are tuned for that DPI.
Thanks for the great suggestion! The phone looks like a normal phone now....
Received mine today. I thought I could get by without a case but no way. It's slippery! Luckily a case came with it.

There are, just use eBay or AliExpress.
About the camera you can take better pictures with another camera app or just learn to hold still and focus correctly xD I can take n decent photos.
It was easier in my s7 edge but even so I knew from the beginning this camera was inferior.
Here you have some photos taken by the default camera app and being steady.
I would say it's the same type of quality of my old LG g3 if you learn how to use it ?

Those are some good clicks mate! Like I said, camera was not a priority for me when I bought this device. I usually don't use my phone cameras a lot and only for some occasional snaps.. I knew that this device had an inferior camera compared to the competition.
Most people usually depend on their phone's camera for random clicks like when your drunk friend is doing something funny at a party or when it appears as if your dog is smiling. Random events like these, when you may not have your dedicated camera at hand. That's when your phone's camera is handy. And for casual spur of the moment clicks like these, this phone's camera is quite unreliable. In most cases those moments you intended to capture would end up as a blurry or noisy mess.
Like you said, if you put enough effort, you may be able to get a few good shots like you just shared. But that was not my point as it defeats the purpose of a phone's camera.

Jeez, nothing wrong with those at all.
I agree as well. Took a few shots and pics look fine. From all the reviews, I was expecting worse.
Best phone I've ever owned.
iPhone 4 -> iPhone 5 -> HTC One -> Samsung S5 LTE-A -> Note 7 (pretty nice) -> Xiaomi Mi Mix.
This thing is a MONSTER. Fast as hell, best battery I've ever seen (better than the Note 7), humongous display, sexy as build quality, tons of RAM, tons of fast memory, fast charging, etc. I'm surprised this exists.

What I Love and Hate about my new OnePlus 5!

My OP5 has replaced my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which unfortunately was dropped and shattered the front glass. It's expensive/difficult to replace the glass on these so I treated myself to a new phone. So this is what I Love and Hate about my new OnePlus 5!
Love
The Snapdraggon 835 -The phone is Fast and bang up to date in connectivity support.
Fast storage and lots of memory- More Speed
No bloatware and streamlined Android -Contributes to the speed and simplicity.
The silent/DnD slider button -No more taking my phone out and turning the display on to switch it to silent! Fantastic.
Fast responsive finger print unlocking.
Solid Home button -Sooner or later the push down home buttons on galaxies start to wear causing rocking, noises/rattles, missed clicks etc because of their frequent use. Hopefully nothing to wear out here.
The deep blacks and saturation from the AMOLED panel
3.5mm jack -Can still use my headphones without an adapter.
Battery -Amazing battery life and the DASH charge is great too.
USB C -So easy to plug in the charger in the dark now.
Gorilla Glass 5 -better drop resistance, the gorilla glass 4 on my Galaxy S7 drop failed
Glass on one side. Feels less premium in a way, but reduces the weight of the phone. This means less force when it falls and less chance of shattering the screen. However metal dents and scratches easily.
Hate
The Camera. So much hype and so much disappointment. Good on paper and for taking 'benchmark' photos. But very poor in real world phone usage. The S7 camera is WAY better. I'm so disappointed I gave it it's own thread.
Only 1080P screen. Also if the brightness is turned up I can see 'noise' on the display. Also get some weird distortions when scrolling. Viewing angle is good, but not excellent. Automatic brightness control is also hit and miss. The S7 was much better. A big downgrade on the S7 display in all areas.
Design is good. But it doesn't look as nice as say a galaxy S8
Having DRM issues, such as reduced quality Netlix streaming. I hope this gets sorted soon.
Sound is loud, but quality is average.
Not waterproof
No SD Card support. Who really wants two sim card holders? Make the other slot for an sdcard like Samsung.
Price. £450 is not a value bargain like the old versions. You can buy a Samsung S8 on Amazon for £550 now.
In a nutshell. It's a mid range phone in regards to features and design, but with high end performance. I don't think it's a bargain. I think the price is about right for what you get.
Sometimes I ask myself why do people actually upgrade from S7 or equal??
The S7/S7 edge is only one year old. I think it's also nonsense to upgrade from S7 to S8 for example.
What do people expect to get? A whole new smartphone experience? Ppl knew the specs right from the start, before they bought it. Of course a 1080p screen will be worse than a QHD.
It's not waterproof, you knew that. It has no SD-Slot, you knew that as well.
For the smoothness and the speed to exist, as well as the great batterylife, there need to be some things that can't be amazing as well for this price. And it's not even bad on this phone.
I understand disappointment, but it's mostly because people expect too much from a phone that is only 1 year younger than the one they own.
I'm coming from a Nexus 5 and I'm totally happy with the OP5. My gf has a S7 edge. They are both good phones. The Samsung might have a better camera, but the Android experience and smoothness is GALAXIES better with the OP5.
Sometimes ist also about people's priotities.
Just my 2 cents. Hope you'll enjoy your new device

I don't think you can add lack of water proofing and no SD card slot and only 1080p to the list of hate since you should have known this already but continued to purchase the phone.

If he truly does hate the feature, or lack of, why can't he put them on the list? It's HIS list.

Because I said . honesty though, I just hate complaints on lack of features when it was a known fact prior to purchase. So I'm going to stick to my opinion on the subject.

It is possible that he thought he could look past it, but ended up failing at it. idk. All I can say is that it has happened to me. Mostly with iPhone, but that is a whole other beast.
