Yeah forgot to mention that, wasn't sure if they were there or not before unlocking.

Wait I have not made any changes to my M8, its completely stock, so I are you saying I would have to HTC dev unlock to be able to use these apps?
Also, my M8 already came with the HTC calc app on it, but not the flashlight.
On the M8, the "HTC Apps" app leads to an empty screen saying that "there are no apps available for the this device"...wth...why would they do this!?

Completely stock you do have the calculator app(I believe) but not the flashlight app. To install these zips you need to have a custom Recovery to flash them. Many have already unlocked and installed TWRP Recovery). When you unlock through HTCDev a few apps go missing. I do not know exactly what apps because I unlocked as soon as i got the M8.

I guess I don't understand why I need to unlock the phone to install the flashlight app...? If I can get the flashlight.apk, shouldn't I just be able to install it like any other app? Sorry if I am seeming like a noob here...lol...I'm really not, I've rooted and flashed many phones but not my last few. (Last one I did was my 4g Lte. Didn't do my One or One Max or this M8.)

The apps are installed to the /data directory from factory instead of as a /system app. When you run the HTC unlock - your /data is wiped therefore you will not have any of the factory pre-loaded /data apps.

Apparently on the HTC One of last year - HTC did hash checks to see if all factory apps were still installed before advertising an OTA to your phone. So if you were unlocked you were unable to receive an OTA because you wouldn't have those apps available.

Google Wallet for the HTC ONE.
-Easy fix for viper Rom
-Should work on stock rooted w/ wp . -removed Kernal
-Always save your original build.prop before modifying
Using Rom Toolbox
1. Open up build.prop editor
2. Change the following values
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
3. Save changes
4. Reboot device, install wallet and open
-wallet takes a couple minutes to initialize so be patient, it works great!
5. Restore your original build.prop
This method should work fine on stock rooted also as long as you have a kernal with /system wp removed.
Also, if you don't want Rom toolbox you can navigate to /system/build.prop and open the file in any text editor to make the changes.

Honestly I'm not sure where I got it. I believe that it came from Viperrom. Duce says that it wasn't added in d3rpONE (I noticed mine working while I was on d3rpONE, but I think something restored it from viperrom), and the only other ROM that I've run is Viper's.

u have to copy to system/app or data/app and give it permission,
look at any other file u when u copy it, and just give it the exact permission..
it happened when u unlocked the boot-loader, it happened to everyone, there is a folder u will see in stock ROM threads, its 5 or 6 apps that disappeared calculator, flashlight
goto here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2353083 and grab the data/app
i will have all that is missing,
I made my own rom from him, and moved them to the system/app folder

For reference, unlocking the bootloader wipes your sd card, being that flashlight is not a system app, hence the delete of the app when you unlocked .. You could just flash a zip with flashlight in and it should install fine.

Well I guess all you would need is the apk and side load it. I use dolphin chrome was great at first but little things bother me like the double tap zoom in sucks. And the last update made it run like ****. I like my bookmarks being synced but then again it really isn't that big of a deal.

What do you mean "set the permissions correctly"? I'm not modifying the permissions with anything, and it sets its own permissions upon installation.

Typically, system apps can't install by conventional methods (although there are a few exceptions, Google Maps being one of them). You have to use a file manager to push the file to /system/app as listed above, and be sure to set the permissions. The permissions should match the rest of the apks in the folder.
If you don't know how to get the permissions to match the other files, then check the permissions of another apk that does match, and use the same layout.

I also wonder if this is a symptom of the Unlocking process. I just got my M8 yesterday and have not Unlocked it yet and I have a Calculator App. All I've done is set it up and restore a HTC backup from my old EVO LTE. It even restored my homescreen to exactly how it was on my old phone, including widgets, which was convenient. Calculator is sitting right there on my homescreen where it usually is, and it works.
that's odd, I had the calculator before and after unlocking and rooting........
