People have to explain this to me:
Do not use a screen protector. This causes sensor malfunctions.

I've had screen protectors on all my devices. The screen sensitivity diminishes a little with a screen protector in place.
Mainly I bet they just want to cover their bases. They don't want you to put a screen protector on it and then try to return it because the screen is unresponsive or not sensitive enough.

I couldn't agree more. It will not totally damage the screen or the sensitivity, but it will just diminish how the screen works. That's all.

some questions about people have s4 active

I want to buy this phone and have some questions
1 - does it have multiwindow like 9500?
2 - does it have modes of camera like 9500 for exampls drama shot , slow and fast motion?
3 - does it have sensors for air view , smart pause and etc...
4 - does it have voice command?for answer call , capture image amd .....
5 - does it have 4.3 official rom?
6 - why developers are not very active for thia phone like 9500 and 9505?
7 - does it have "increase touch sensitivity?
I assume you're looking to get the i9295 (international) and not the i537 (AT&T), so I'll try to answer these:

It does have multi-window, the firmware and interface is almost exactly like the i9500.

The camera has several modes including Aqua Mode where you can take a picture by pressing the volume button. However it does not have slow or fast motion. The camera on the i9295 is different than the one on the i9500. The S4 Active has an 8MP camera while the regular S4 has a 13MP camera. People have asked about porting the slow/fast motion to this phone, but so far nothing.

It has all of these features. Again the firmware is nearly identical to the i9500.

Part of the problem is the way Samsung released this phone. They released it about 6 months after they released the regular S4, so everybody who wanted a new phone got the S4 and when the S4 Active came out there were not enough changes and it wasn't marketed in a way that people were willing to buy a new phone so quickly. Therefore, the S4 Active didn't sell nearly the numbers that the S4 did. Secondly, they marketed it as a waterproof phone and if you look through the forums you'll see that it's not waterproof, but water-resistent. A lot of people ended up destroying their phones by doing exactly what Samsung did in the commercials. Samsung has offered a 1-time replacement due to water damage, but all of these claims caused them to stop marketing the phone. It seems that Samsung has really just "forgotten" about this phone since it has a small userbase. I think they're just hoping it will go away with all the problems they've had.
Another reason is the i537 (AT&T) has a locked bootloader so development has really been stalled, really on all AT&T and Verizon Samsung phones that have a locked bootloader. That said there are ways you can use ROMs developed for the regular S4 on the S4 Active. So although there's not much development in the S4 Active forums you can use ROMs meant for the regular S4 so there is actually a lot of choice.

I really like this phone, particularly the hard keys at the bottom. I too wish there was more development but unfortunately it just didn't sell that well. I haven't had any problems with it and I think the LCD screen looks much better than the Amoled on the regular S4, particularly in direct sunlight. Hopefully this helps.

LCD and Amoled are fundamentally different. For an LCD screen the entire screen turns on in order to show colors and blacks. With Amoled, only colored pixels turn on, if a pixel is supposed to be black it does not turn on and therefore does not draw power. This is how the Moto X is able to show those active notifications without killing your battery. As far as which is better or worse, it really is a matter of personal preference. You can read up more on LCD vs Amoled, there are tons of articles about it, but what I've come to find is that it's really just preference.

Yeah, you should be able to if you flash a i9295 kernel afterwards. There are a couple people you specifically want to ask about this since I have an i537 and cannot flash kernels. Ask @ohwarumbloss and @spegelius. They have been working on porting ROMs and would know exactly what ROMs work on the i9295 and which don't. I'm 99% sure you can use i9500, but you should make sure before you make your decision.

So this is how the phone has been advertised, and I have personally used mine in the shower to listen to music without any problems. There are reports of people taking their phone in the pool and getting water damage. There are also people who have taken pictures in the pool and have not had any problems. For more on the water damage issue take a look at this thread, it'll give you both sides of the story.
A lot of the water issues are user error. Either the charging port cover was damaged or not seated properly or the phone back was not properly installed. My experience with the water-resistency has been incredible (you can read about it in one of the threads in General). I am disappointed that there isn't more development for the i537, but I'm rooted and the phone does all I want it to, so I'm happy...for now.

New Tab S 10.5 Owner..

Just ordered a refurbished Tab S 10.5 tablet from Samsung, moving from a Sony Tablet Z first generation..
It is still a great tablet but at the end of its life with Lolipop 5.1... And the Z4 is way too expensive...
I was torn between the new Tab S2 9.7 or the 10.5, decided to go with the 10.5 since I watch lots of movies and Media and the loss of the widescreen format was a deal killer..
Should receive it in a few days and will let you know my impressions...
Just received it today and she is glorious, No blemishes whatsoever since she is a refurbished one..And the screen..What can I say but WOW!!!!
Put it in a Beetle case which is basically a Otterbox but half the price...
Downloading and installing all my apps and all my Vudu Movies now download in Glorious HDX for later playback, something that my Tablet Z would not do....
I am very happy....
Congrats on your new baby, any problems or questions we, I am here to help.
John.
Glad you love it. The AMOLED display is absolutely a sight to behold! Watching 2K videos on YouTube is great too.
You made the right choice. You love movies and other media . So that was the only way to go.
Enjoy it and good luck!

 Put my tablet in a Beetle case along with a tempered glass screen protector due to a upcoming overseas trip and cruise for added protection. Removed the ugly built in screen protector on the beetle case due to an ugly rainbow effect ...
With the tempered glass you would swear it had no installed protection at all...
Love this tablet...
Nice case any discount codes?

Personally, I have no much objections against the stock Lollipop rom. The important issue is to enter the settings of every preinstalled system app and disable anything that deals with automatic syncing, updating, and notifications unless you use this app. Do this for all other apps you have installed, and generally don't keep around any apps you don't really use. This makes sure that parasitic battery drain does not happen. This got me to 2% battery drain a day at sleep, which is acceptable, down from 22%.
Is there a list of apps we can freeze safely?
I can just recommend to get rid of this bloated samsung rom at 1.4 gigs and install a ROM from the forum here. The Tab s 10.5 will perform even better, faster , no lag at all and the battery life is much better. If you have a samsung phone, then keeping the stock rom might be useful ( to sync stuff etc) , if not, then wipe it.
CyanogenMod 12.1 from nvertigo can be updated with nightlies and it won't disturb your apps and no need to reinstall a gapps after an update. There are many nice roms in here.
I advise you too freeze apps rather than delete them, unless you are good at flashing the rom.
Using Sony PowerNap (can be found by searching the internet) i only use 1% battery in 24hours while in sleep mode, I have a wifi only, if you have a cell tablet you will loose more battery life while sleeping unless you use aeroplane mode.
A list of apps you an freeze, check the link below.

people have to watch for the number of games or widgets that are always searching for updates or notifications. There is a way when we look at the game info ( by sliding the icon to info on top ) to disable the notification and this is good for all apps. Without any special apps to help save the battery life , my tab s 10.5 lose only 1 or 2 % during night time. The notifications options have to be tuned up so that everything is quiet during night time. I can hardly see how the Doze mode in MM6 would do better than that. ( I'm on 5.1.1 CM) with 2 active widgets.

Hey Buddy !
tell me your advice ! It's a good choice in middle 2016 ? Or I'm totally crazy ? xD
It's for today , normally !
Thanks
I have had my 10.5" T800 for 18 months and i would not swap any other Tablet for it, The display is the best(Amazing), the sound is good, the battery life is good, with it`s 16:10 display it`s a video watchers delight, no 4:3 tablet for me (Yuck)
I have the Beetle case as well, once you replace the built in screen protector (rainbow city) all is good.

Me too! it's been about a year since I bought it and I just love it. I use it with a logitech keyboard type s, and installed cyanogenmod's rom.
i thought samsung was gonna lauch better specs on the S2; but i think i will remain with this model for a couple of years
I would love to know if the display on the yet to be released Tab S3 will be 16:9/10 or the crappy 4:3 of the S2 - I will not be buying anything till my S1 dies anyway.
Anyway i bought one of those magnetic charging adaptors for my S1, It`s hard enough plugging the microsd in and 10 time worse when using the beetle case, the magnetic charging cable is quite wide but there is space enough in the beetle case and it makes plugging in a joy, and the rubber cover just about closes fully, enough for me.

Thank you for your advice guys.
I have since yesterday and I love. the screen is beautiful yes and responsiveness is very good. I am happy with my purchase. I ordered a screen protector (intelliarmor) screen is resistant but it's safer.
I remain stock for the guarantee. it's great stock, TouchWizz is ... different. :cyclops:
I with an official bookcover and is about cool.
For charging I tested the app with you and I advise 540 Mah so I should find another cable.
Thank you again for your review and enjoy s10.5 tab!
Cheers
The Tab S fast charges to 80% at around pulling around 1700ma (with original charger and cable) and then gradually slows down till it hits 100% the 10.5" takes 5+ hours for a full charge as it has an 7900mah battery.
What do you mean by 540ma, you need at least 1000ma+ to charge the Tab S 10.5"

Potential future user with some questions (coming from an iPhone!)

Hi everyone,
seeing the prices of the new XS Max here in France and wanting a bigger screen than the iphone X I currently have, I am considering the Note.
Even if I have tended to own mostly iphones, I regularly buy Android phones (every 2-3 years I would say) to see how they evolve. The last one was an S7 Edge whose screen found its demise during my holidays as it rebounded on my bed onto the iPad that was unfortunately waiting here...and it broke the screen.
Hence, 1st question, is it as fragile as the S7 edge? In any case, I have already found 1 case (there does not seem to be a lot of choice, right) and a glass protector :
I Cannot yet post links but the references are: Spigen 599CS24569 silicone for the case and GEEMEE glass protector for the screen protection
What do u think ? I am looking for a case that is rather slim but can still protect in case of a fall.
Other questions :
1. Are you happy with the S9 so far ? Is it fluid ?
2. How is the eye scan ? I saw a review saying that it was not very responsive.
3. Do you use the S pen a lot ? It seems to be doing quite a lot of things in theory but I am under the impression that in practice few people actually use it.
4. Another question which is more related to the OS : is it still possible to really customize the icons/screen and the home and lock screens without rooting ?
5. Why did you choose to buy the Note 9, compared to say, waiting for the new Pixel 3, which will probably be more innovative ?
6. Is there a kind of clipboard where when you select and copy text it is saved in this clipboard (such as Copied on iOS)
7. I have found less expensive versions of the phone on Rakuten. However, it is said to be an international version with the reference SM-N960FZKDXEF. Are there some differences, for instance in terms networks ?
Finally, would you recommend the Note 9 ?
thanks a lot !

1. I am happy with the Note 9,possibly the best phone i have ever bought and i have used over 24 phones in the last 11 years but it does have its flaws like poor battery if you're not tweaking it to a brick.
2. Supposedly works well for me unless outdoors, else there is a smart scan function to improve the scanning even with glasses on. Believe this existed on the S9/8
3. Ive always used it to illustrate ideas to people, though its not as useful in large groups but that pen's ability to snap pictures like a remote is awesome
4. Yes with the inbuilt theme engine which is almost liken to xiaomi's or i dare say nova.
5. In asia, pixel 3 would be much more expensive. What do you mean by more innovative when the note 9 comes with all these features. Apart from the speedy updates and vanilla android, i think the masses dont really bother much with the overall UX of samsung
6. Yes
7. Best to check the network bands, im sure someone can reply to that. The only big difference is Snapdragon 845 versus Exynos 9810. There is a healthy debate on which is better but my experience with both chips is that the battery on 845 tend to hold better.
Conclusion, this phone is a beast, im overall happy but if you're using the exynos version, prepare to have a powerbank or a charger. I previously used a Mix 2s and a Mate 10, both of which, imho, lasted longer than the note 9 battery wise but that screen and sheer size will keep you glued to the screen not to mention the amazing speakers. Also anything with glass will crack if not careful, the said case and tempered glass would suffice if it was not thrown with force and will protect from bumps and dinks. Goodluck with your decision. Get the snapdragon if you can and satisfaction guaranteed
The Pixel 3 being more innovative than the Note9... Now THAT was funny!
???
Best phone ever.

Yes, I would recommend the Note 9.
PS. The first thing Pixel users do (former user here) is head straight to the Play Store and install a crapload of apps so they can have just some of the features of the Samsung Phones, or wait for someone to come up with a ROM with a bunch of features in it. I'm a Google guy, Chromebooks, etc, but if I'm being honest, Pixels are one of the least innovative devices on the market right out of the box. 3rd party apps/ROM's bring them up to speed. The iris scanner works great, the fingerprint reader is lightening fast and flawless. If you have managed to not smash the iPhone X, which has the durability of a potato chip, the Note 9 would probably be plenty stout. You have a feeling that people don't use the S-Pen? Those people are using the S9 or S9+. I use the S-pen every single day. You can customize icons and screens etc without rooting, yes. I don't use iOS so I have no idea what it's clipboard is like. I can have 20? messages in my clipboard at one time and a simple click of the clipboard icon on the keyboard brings all of my clips up for selection.

Another touchscreen problem-does not work when device is lying

Hi,
The new owner of Nokia 7 plus here. Its the second day I own a Nokia 7 Plus (Oreo 8.1) and I have a problem with a touchscreen. I noticed that sometimes it soea not recognize when I touch it. It does not matter whether I try harder, sometimes in different part of the screen it captures a touch, but there is no rule where.
Further analysis led me to conclusion that it happens when the device is lying. If it does not recognize the touch and I lift the phone and touch while holding it, everhthing is ok.
Anyone knows whats going on?
Ps. Its not a bad device at all, but it seems that the firmware is rather poor. It's a shame because there is a nieche on the market for reasonable hardware with superior firmware and regular updates.
I had the same problem.after december sicurety patch the problem solved..

It looks like this: https://youtu.be/pF0XCFLdaeo
How to download only security patch and not the Android Pie?
Yes that is it. and must to lock and unlock the screen to work again.
You can't have the security patch without the android pie.
No, I dont have to lock and unlock. Its enough that I lift the phone and it works.
With or without screen protector
How it is important whether with or without screen protector when you can clearly see on the movie that the only thing determining if the screen works is whether the phone is lying flat or is held?
Ps. I have a screen protector. Is it unusual?

I've noticed that some screen protectors can mess with the responsiveness of screens, which is why he's asking, I'm sure.

It's clearly not the protector looking at a recorded video. You can find tons of threads about the screen of Nokia 7 Plus. I've checked and I have Novatek, so it's probably that. I have to say that reading all that makes me sad, that Nokia let's the problem live its own life.

Just out of interest, which Novatek version have you got? You can get it from settings - system - about phone and then the touch panel firmware at the bottom.
I have seen that some have had issues with the V07 version. with low brightness etc. Those with just the 07 version seem to have a better screen.
I have the V07 and I have the same issue mentioned here.
Same here. Novatek V07 version.
Had the same problem. Touch became unresponsive while the phone was lying. Once I touch the metal frame it was okay.. not even lifting it. All was solved when I removed the screen protector. It is like I am using a new phone now
So to update you all: I have asked for a replacement. I got another one with V7 Novatek screen (Firmware 1.017.16). I don't know for sure, but the last one had Firmware 1.017.20. Nevertheless, current device does not have described problem with touch when laying. Of course I cannot go below 16% with brightness, but it does not bother me that much. Apparently, the last one was broken.

Can you help me choose between M20 and A20?

Hi,
I am trying to choose smartphone to buy, I was gonna buy A10, but I heard a lot of issues, like noise can phone calls harder, and internet data is not good.
So, for the fast charging features of A20 and M20, I started to consider them
I am not used to play or watch movies on smartphones, so here is my needs:
- Mainly I need the phone to be rooted (I found M20 has custom ROMs right now, even Lineage OS)
- Phone calls, I wish I any of them is very good in this, which using internal or external speaker
- I use mobile data a lot, and mainly while traveling
- I read so much, reading reading reading
- Of course battery is important, but I am not sure which one (M20 or A20) is better for me
- Few chatting apps
- No instagram, no snapchat, no gaming, or like so
- Maybe I can use it for watching videos (for learning purpose) as my old phone wasn't able to provide me this feature (it was old Chinese one)
For short, both phones will give more than I expect as features, they look like more for gamers, but this is all what I can see locally here in my country.
The screen types are so confused for me, I don't care much about the screen colors as long as I care about how good it is for my eye, if I am sensitive.
I thought the processing power of M20 would be very good with rooting or any custom ROM, since people says its screen drains the battery (I think screen won't be bad in case there is no gaming)
So, what do you think? I can talk much more about what I learned about both of them, but I wanna real user experience, specially the developer and business guys.
Thanks.
M20 is best for you as per your requirements. And if you can add little more to your budget then go for m30s(available in India).
Alright @Punitverma2010, thank you for your response , appreciate it.
I did search for M30s, unfortunately it seems not available in my country anymore.
I think whenever a new phone gets released, there is not more of older releases even if there are produced in the same year, I barely can find M20 here, A series is flooding the market, and shops are pushing me to A10s as alternative, but It seems very low than M20 .. they telling me Infinity-V display is better than M20's one.
But anyway, I am still tying to search for M20, I think there is one available in some shop, I will see if I can get it.
Again, your reply is appreciated
@Punitverma2010
As you recommended M30s, you don't feel *Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen* is hurtful for the eye than *PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen* of M20 .. because if so and I cannot find M20 here in the market, I can just go with A20 ..
Another thing, I found the phones survive in the market for a couple of months, then another one gets released and others turn old in the same year .. You barely even can find accessories for them here, the traders just bring the new as long as it released.
If A20 with the *Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen* - as I am so scared for it - then I can go for them.
The strange is, Samsung released here A10s, which has *IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen*, and I just get lost hahaha.
My current phone is Tecno W2, which screen is of type *IPS LCD*, and I could survive 2 years with it.
I had the chance to visit a shop, and try the *Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen* experience, I think the phone is A30 or A50, but I couldn't use it enough, just felt the screen is amazing, couldn't see if my eyes will feel bad or not.

No AMOLED display doesn't harm the eyes infact it gives more clear view and saves battery too. Currently I'm using m20 which have LCD display and I miss my AMOLED display of my previous phones galaxy j5.
Samsung has released too much phones recently with almost similar specs and still many more are coming in upcoming months. It gets really hard to decide which phone to buy.
Btw A series have more software features (of Samsung) than M series. If A series phone is available in your country then go for it. Soon more are coming like A10s, A20s, A30s and A50s. Look for their specs and availability in your country.
So @Punitverma2010, what was your point recommending me M20 in the first reply? what features do you see will fit my needs?

Mainly battery, I've also similar needs like and likes to stay connected to the internet and browse the internet. My phone gives me upto 10 hours of screen on time with this usage. So I think it'll also good for you
Alright @Punitverma2010 thank you for your help.
Right now, I am trying to find a second hand M20, used for less than 2 weeks, there are a lot available on online shop here, and most of them are looking to get A20 or RealMe 3 instead, don't know why, but it's okay for me.
If I cannot find M20 in the next couple weeks I will go for A20, If my budget can get better I will find a friend who can bring me M30s from another country with him.
