[Q] Does A250 Supports Native Video Calling? - Micromax Canvas Turbo A250

Hi Guys!
Can somebody please confirm if this phone supports Native Video Calling over 3G Network? i.e. option to make a video call from the phone's dialer or contacts and not via some third party apps like Tango, Skype, Hangouts, etc.
Your help is appreciated :good:

Yes, Canvas Turbo A250 supports native video calling over 3G network and no need any 3rd party apps for that.

Thanks for the screenshot mate. I got 2 high-end phones but, they suck when it comes to Native Video Calling Functionality. That's why I'm going to buy a 3rd one.
I guess you own this phone right? If you do, how's the battery life? I've seen many comments on the internet where people are complaining about it's battery. Can it last long for one full day with normal usage?

I have this one and I am a proud owner. For my day to day use it is great companion and I have no problem for battery and performance at all.
I charge it daily once till 85% in the evening and is fine for next whole day for me for average use
So at the end you have to choose that how much your uses and decide.

The application had FC problem, but today I received an update. Lo and behold, the FC is gone now, and it should be possible to make video chatting.
Give it a try.

Interesting, it has literally used no battery on my phone ( doesn't even show up in the list). I wonder what is causing it to use so much battery.

Finally
Finally. Now I can video chat with my brother and sister-in-law and their MT4Gs.
In terms of battery life, my phone hasn't been showing any change in battery life. It's always running in the background, but it hardly takes up anything. All I did was disable the auto sync. What's the point in syncing your contacts every few days? They're hardly gonna change. Only so many people get phones with ffc, much less install qik. If one of your contacts happens to get qik, or remove it, but didn't tell you, it was probably for a reason
I hope this is a precursor to T-mobile offering it's wifi calling app to all android phones.

Skype Videochat

Hello Forum,
i read in an article http://www.androidnews.de/skype-videochat-fur-android-verfugbar-aber-nur-im-htc-thunderbolt that the video function has been enabled in skype but only for thunderbolt devices.
there is a link where you can download the apk.

Exactly! if i do want to use video, i use Tango Video Calls (from market)
a mirror is all you need if the application can use the camera on back, just a bit awkward
That'd be just plain stupid. If you want video calls on the go just buy a new phone with a front facing camera.
have you ever thought about using speaker phone and rear camera ? why is this stupid ? I might use video calling once a month, I dont need front camera

When I tried people couldn't hear me..

press the speaker spot on the dial pad and see it that works, if that doesnt see if the mute is not on. Also there is a list of routers that do not work well with this program, so if you have a wifi xoom then try a diff router signal

So what number does it call from? Do you have to go through a SIP or what?
Also, I wish bluetooth headsets worked with the XOOM. I hate speaker phone mode and I'm sure that's the only way this would work.
After trying several different alternatives this is the best so far. The quality is great on my side but there's some echo on the other side. I'll have to try it with some headphones to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for sharing.
It should i did a couple of test calls using wifi and 3g and it worked great! I dont have a wifi model so i cant say for sure but the dev website says it will!

Interestingly (for me, at least), my Moto S9 BT headset actually works well with the Xoom. In fact, I had pretty much discarded it until I got the Xoom and tried it out. It skips/drops constantly with my Tmobile G2 and with a BT add-on for my ipods and it had the same problem with every Android phone I've tried it with, from the G1 to the MyTouch 3G. The S9 had already been replaced at least once if not twice to see if the skipping would go away but it did not. I'm saying I could not have the phone in my shirt pocket and phones on my ears without it constantly cutting out - really worthless until now.
Rob
works good and just so everyone knows the xooms mic is on the bottom of landscape orientation you have to talk near it to pick up your voice

[Q] another O2X owner..

Hello everyone, new on this forum. wanted to say hello.
I own an LG O2X and suffer from almost all of the problems the rest of you mentioned.
I've been following the threads for some time now. Hope LG fixes this phone soon because as for now everyone I show the new phone to doesn't understand "what's so good about it?" LOL
i'm a happy one
have had O2X for a week now, and am pretty happy with it. but it is my first android, and i'm running MCR/Fear edition.
the only thing that i am missing is wi-fi calling (uma), which is only stock-installed in G2X.

Why can't you use skype instead? Or is it not the same?
Ive had mine for about a month now and cant fault it in anyway, compaired it against my old desire and friends iphones and it's on top without a doubt.
Gingerbread will be rolling out in the next couple of weeks i would of thought which will make it even better ;-)
I have it since yesterday and no problems so far, its lightning fast but I like the looks of my arc more. Still in doubt which one will be my daily phone, I like them both.

I didn't look into Skype, because my wife (with regular cell phone) can't reach me on Skype (free account), unless they provide free incoming call number.
I prefer (1) UMA/GAN, (2) Google voice/Talkatone-like app on android, and (3) other SIP, but that's just me. Beside, I think any T-Mobile user should be able to use UMA/GAN via app.
I have a feeling that eventually telephone/cell-phone will migrate to IP based protocol, and service providers will become merely data provider. The question is when and if they will be willing to. I'm sure there will be issues and reluctance. I read somewhere and Verizon is looking into voice over IP (or a name similar to that), to enable "talk and surf at the same time" like GSM can. Now I'm babbling.... Anyhow, CM7 might have already included UMA/GAN. I just need to test it when I have a chance.

Skype is your best bet.
..and the guy above is right.. even with those phones, they still use Data for video calls. You can't send video without data.. thats fact.
I think the OP is referring to Google talk video chat over 3G.

You're playing with words...
He means native video support via the phone contacts, like a normal voice call, but using video, it uses your mins or costs if your data plan doesn't give you free mins, rather than using your data allowance, instead of using an app like Skype or Gtalk...
I don't think people even know what normal video calls are. Using Skype or Gtalk on your mobile is new, But doing normal 3g video calls have been available since 2003 in the UK at least.
I dunno why people are like this on forums, it's highly annoying. It's some techie sort of snobbery (word play) or ignorance (as in they don't even know)... Either way I don't like it...
It was pretty obvious what he was asking...
I hate it when people say use Skype instead, that really annoys me, that implies the person you want to call is always on Skype, which they're not. With normal video calls, it calls the number like a voice call, so you have access anytime, as long as they have a 3g signal.
