Galaxy S5 Water Resistance Thread - Galaxy S 5 General

Hey everyone we figured we would actually put the Galaxy S5's IP67 rating to the test by actually submerging it in water for over thirty minutes, and it actually worked. The headphone jack is completely fine, audio is solid, and everything worked flawless. So then we decided to try a 4K video test underwater which we had some success with. I'm going to be honest, the S5 is one tough cookie.
If anyone has any questions feel free to let me know as I'm the creator of the video.

You mentioned you had some issues with the video recording cutting out as you went deeper in the water, do you have any idea what caused this or Is this potentially a proposed safety measure implemented by Samsung to prevent people from taking the S5 too deep.

This is awesome, cant wait for my preorder.

Damn, that's impressive. All these test videos that keep popping up is only making me want the S5 more and more. Now I'm at the point where I'm just counting the days until my preorder delivers :good:

I think he had a mistake with the time limited in 4k recording

Water is fine with S5. Actually i discovered a really good way to cool the phone down by put it under the water tap haha. Specially after antutu bench. Liquid-cooling and bacteria kill lolol

No it definitely wasn't a time limit on 4K video recording. I've shot 5+ minutes of video and never had any issues.

I think this was probably a safety measure or we were just going too deep. It's only water resistant to one meter and it would cut out around four or so feet.

Damn was about to post it great.

Yes, if you notice, there is a rubber gasket on the back for water resistance
Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

Definitely reassuring that it can withstand getting soaked

I have used it numerous times outside in the pouring rain and nothing has happened, I remembered years ago with my galaxy prevail (lmao..) 1 rain storm killed it. I have no intention of submerging it, the the idea of cooling it off with water is hilarious.

Thats awesome. The water resistance was one of the major deciding factors for me to go S5 over the M8.

a few of us had some issues with a tiny bit of water
i took the phone in the shower this morning, had my music player going, and hell it is supposed to be water resistant right? well a few hours later i noticed that the "headphones connected" icon was on and my music player was going (no sound obviously since it thinks headphones are connected) it keeps coming back on and every time it does it thinks headphones are connected and starts to run my music player, i couldnt get it to stop thinking that headphones were plugged in and removed and plugged in and removed for about 7 hours...
also just a tiny drop off water blocks the speaker but the volume comes right back, the headphone jack issue is a BIG ONE though, that took hours to fix, blowing in the jack and hairdryer did nothing, the big part where this is an issue is that When it thinks that you plugged in headphones it starts playing the mp3 player which killed the battery, I paused the mp3 player but a few seconds later it disconnected the headphones the reconnected them, also I don't know what would happen if you got a phone call, someone else reported the same thing with the headphone jack too

Most of the Exynos r having the same problem. Even worse the charging port cover is not tight enuf. So be extremely carefull with that. Water cant get into fone via the back but it might be via charging port.

Headphone water damage sensor

As a great phone this is I'm concerned with where Sony have placed the water markers.
I understand that they are there for their protection but the top one really annoys me when I'm listening to music.
It would be great to have a water resistant phone that you could take out your pocket in the rain to change tracks ect. in ore of peoples expression 'Your getting your phone wet!'.
I wish Sony to a leaf out of Apples book placed theres underneath the headphone jack like the iPhone.
Any one agree?
My sensor under the headphone flap has already gone pinkish. living it england its hard not to get a little bit of rain on it when out at the shops and changing tracks. no idea what this would mean for my warranty.

My thoughts exactly.
it seems like sony could easly refuse to repair a device, even if it's not your fault...
I am thinking of placing a small sticker over the water marker to prevent it from triggering.

could you prevent it with a method that simple? and what would you prefer to remove the sticker in case of using the warranty?
i'm also curious as if this method is ok . I think sony would have thought about the sticker thing and maybe the sensor also reacts to something else like glue ...
What about sony's water resist warranty? If the stickers' colour changed to red, that means the phone got water from this places. Even flaps are correctly closed, If there is some faulty on the flaps the phone will get water.
So, i think it's not big problem the place of stickers, inside the phone or just near the plug.

The way I use my phone, the jack is on the bottom. I have it on a neck strap using the lanyard hook, so it holds the phone upside down. I ride a pushbike everywhere, work, in the rain so works out well this way for me. This was a selling point to me on the phone - lanyard strap, water resistant. When I rode with my iphone I had it in a grungy neck bag, and when it rained I either hoped for the best, or put it in a plastic bag...
If you triggered your water sensor somewhere - it doesn't mean your warranty is immediately void. If your phone dies from water damage, they check the covers and make their tests. If they leak - they'll repair your phone. If they don't, it means you left it open, doesn't really matter if your sensors turned pink or not - it's just for Sony, to let them know where the damage most likely happened.
Btw. just get an SBH20 bluetooth headset, problem solved. It's great and you can use any headphones with it

It'd be fantastic if you could get cordless Bluetooth canalphones. One day they'll be able to get that stuff small enough...
I had wondered if this was bugging anyone else, it's a real bug bear to me since I usually use my phone for music every day, but living in the UK it likely to get some drops of rain in.
This means not only am I forced not to use my favourite headphones, but also that I have to buy one of those SBH20s.
The door itself is a PITA as well cause I fear it might snap of while open when taking the phone in and out of my pocket.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
That's the problem for me, the sensor is already pink just after 1 month of using the jack audio connection for my headphone, morality, you definitively need a bluetooth headphone or you will break the warranty. I've returned the phone to my provider that they confirmed that break the warranty BUT after contacting Sony with them, Sony confirmes that they always open the phone to really check if it's water damaged or not, if not, if it's just the sensor you haven't to worry but Sony is warning us by telling that some providers will certainly refuse to send the phone to be repairing by seeing the sensor, so if your phone is really damaged and you have the red sensor, you can cry.
For my case i've taken the bigest warranty for my phone, even if i destroy it myself i just need to pay the franchising of 50€ and they change it immediatly.

It's an expression of frustration at the state of things, soon as I find something, I'll make sure it's right here, so far the SBH20 seems the best option, but even hats not yet available.

DO NOT SELF REPAIR YOUR GEAR.
You should return the watch to the store of origin requesting either a full refund or an exchange.
This is a repeat thread. This subject is being debated on another thread. IT APPEARS this COULD be a design fault. IF this is the case Samsung will need to recall all watches and resolve the situation.
I had some doubts about the IP rating of the gear. Now the more I read threads here from owners who share identical problems I am truly starting to get concerned that the Gear has one or two major design flaws. Second flaw being those exposed contacts at the back. Water or perspiration could cause a short.
Very mixed bag is the gear. Superb technology in some areas and absolutely useless in others.
Regards
Oh, you could place the watch on a tray, or in a bag, of rice in the sun, this will dry out the lens until the next time.
It's rating of IP55 so it should be water resistant. I haven't gotten much 'mileage' with mine on the outdoors to merit this. And I'm with the guy^ you should just return it right away.
Hopefully, people having problems with theirs get resolved quickly while it's still under warranty.

Yeah, i just spoke with them and they told me to send it back. I hope it's just a few of the units that are defect, so the new one i receive won't have the same problem. Or i'll just wait for them to send out fixed units.
if the weather is humid this will happen too, just imagine wearing glasses during really humid/hot days and they will form a fog and you wont see a thing lol, same with the gear is what I predict.
so solution is to either protect the camera when temperature/weather is suboptimal or wait till the moisture dries.
this is a first generation product, very likely they did not realize this
you guys might want to invest in this, seems that some cameras definitely go through this

My problem is that after entering a warmer environment, the fog is now water and is located inside the lens, so all my pictures are taken through a drop of water, smearing the picture.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46408183#post46408183
Moisture in my camera as well - not related to cold
I had my Galaxy Gear Watch for two days before I started to see moisture forming in the lens. I believe the moisture came from the sweat from my skin. The watch never saw a wet environment; no rain, no water from washing hands, etc. After the third day the image was completely clouded and I could see actual water drops in the area of the lens. If I lightly pressed on the cover with the tiny hole in it behind the camera, water squirted out of the hole. It took about eight presses on the cover before no more water came out.
I let the watch sit for a day in the dry open air and the image remained clouded. I returned it to Best Buy and they replaced it. I bought the protection plan and told them I'd be back every time it gets clouded On the new watch I put a piece of clear tape over the hole after the watch sat in a low humidity area at room temp for a day.
I would love to know:
a) what is that hole in the cover behind the camera meant for?
b) why is the capsule that contains the camera not sealed?! Why would the design give up a place for water to accumulate between the front of the camera and the lens? IF that was sealed there would be no way for water to get in there.
c) how did this ever get through testing (or even design review)?
This is a major concern - Mine arrives today, and we have high humidity in the summer, and I travel to Orlando a lot - So basically, the camera will become useless in almost every environment, eventually. I would have hoped that a $300 watch wouldn't have issues if you happen to get caught in the rain one day.... Or if you actually walk a lot and use the pedometer on the watch .. Love my Samsung stuff, but they do need better QC on their stuff. My Win8 Ativ Pro is a great machine, but they had MAJOR keyboard disconnect issues on release (3 Units in my house, all had the issues).
A day later - new watch with tape over the hole
A day after getting my replacement Galaxy Gear Watch and putting tape over the hole in the cover below the camera I've experienced no fogging problems. What I don't know is if the tape is the reason I have no problems or if the new watch would not have a problem if there was no tape. And, frankly, at this point I don't want to remove the tape to find out.
. One dried out after 1 day and moisture never returned. I have to exchange it tho because the screen bezel sticks out further than watch face.

|warning| is it really waterproof?

Hi! First of all sorry for my English, if something is unclear feel free to ask.
Ok so iv'e got my brand new Xperia z1 last Monday after months of anticipations. for the next day, i tested it and played some games and was very satisfied,.
One test had only left- is it really waterproof? On Wednesday i went to the pool and of course checked thousand times that my precious Z1 ports caps are all closed.
I took some snapshots and couple of videos. The total time that my Z1 was underwater is no more than 5 minutes and less than 1 feet.
After exiting the pool and wiping all the water residues, the Z1 functioned properly and didn't seemed to have any problem at all. About 4 hours later when the battery was on 30% i plugged it into the charger, and the worst of all occurred! Smoke started to come out from the charging port! :crying: I immediately puled the charger out, and saw that it was completely melt down. That was a shock for me! I thought to myself, " what the **** just happened?!?!?!?"
After drying it with a hair dryer i tried to charge it again. No luck. The battery wont charge anymore . I also noticed that the rear camera lens has water vapor on it, which prevents me to take photos. I was really mad and especially disappointed, as i familiar with the good quality of sony's products.
The day after, i took it to sony store demanding to replace the faulty phone.
I explained them what happened but they keep saying that there is no warranty for water damage. They said that i have only one option, to take it to an authorized sony lab and to pay for a pressure test, to prove that my unit is defective! And then, maybe, if the results are negative they will replace it to a new one.
Of course i demanded a free test, cause its sony's fault and the responsibility for a faulty product is on them.
Now i need to wait in patience for their results.
I am lucky for not selling my old Iphone 4 yet.
I searched google for a similar problem and found this on sony forum:
( i can't post links, just search on google "Just realized my month old z1 is bent")
There are 2 photos on the thread, one on the first page and the second on the third page.
That person's xperia z1 was bent, what makes his phone unsealed and no more waterproofed. He says that the phone never felt or was in his back pocket(mine neither). A few users said that they are familiar with this phenomenon too.
It causes me to worry, maybe all of the z1 are made with the same problem and will eventually get ruined?
Usually i trust sony's products. I even recommended to my friends buying the z1, and bought to my sister the old z.
I am very disappointed not just because of the faulty unit but also the bad customer service.
I really hope that they will replace my z1.
Please tell me what do you think.
I really dont buy that waterproof thing by Sony. If you will look at their website they are telling that its waterproof but if you look at z1 manual, you can see that it is dust and water resistant only and no claim that it is waterproof.
I remember last time when my friend bought the xperia Go, he only test it with the basin with the cover closed properly, same thing happen and its only 1 day old.
The sales rep told him that he can use it under water but when I confront the sales rep who sold him the XGO, he was claiming that it can only be use for water splash.

Oddly enough, I get the same thing! Haha. But I use mine in the shower every morning to watch Netflix and give it a nice wash before I leave and have encountered no issues.
But OP: contact your regions Sony customer service and demand them to provide you with service. Contact corporate if all else fails. You paid a pretty penny for that phone, you should get what's advertised. If you paid via credit card, charge back if you can.

The way I read it, it says that the warranty will be void if you let water in because the flaps were not closed or usage went beyond the IP rating specs.
Yes. But.what about faulty flaps from manufacturer? No responsability about that?
Yes! and what about unsealed Z1 (that has been bent because of heat or any other reason)?
you can't prove that you used your phone properly and under their instructions, so they don't give any warranty on water damage, on advance, and this is really ****ed up situation. now i have to spend my money and time
Oh and i forgot to mention that my speaker has the same problem.. wonder why?
i will update as soon as i get an answer.
They need to say that, otherwise buying a Z1 would equal buying a subscription of Z1's, as whenever I scratched the phone I could just dunk it in a tank of water with the flaps open and have it replaced. You have a responsibility to make sure your flaps are in good condition (don't open them all the time, and make sure to wash the phone immediately after submerging in saltwater) before submersion, but it is certainly waterproof, I have tested myself. Actually what I've been doing with my waterproof Sony phones is record my unboxing, and without taking the camera away from the phone I ensure flaps are firmly closed and submerge the phone for 10 minutes. Since the box was sealed at the start this provides a sort of "chain of trust" and would be usable if I receive a non-waterproof phone.
With that said, I wouldn't do anything stupid with it just because it can take it (besides showing off a couple of times in front of mates), just use it as normal and simply stop worrying so much because you know the phone actually can take it.
When boating it is a relief knowing that if I end up in the water I will still have a working phone that I can call home with.
But where is it written that a Z1 owner has the responsability to make sure that the flaps are in good condition? And how is one able/authorised to say that the flaps are ok (except SONY)? And is there a warranty for the quality of the flaps?
In conclusion, Z1 MAY be water resistant, but SONY took great care that they are exonerated if water would get inside the phone, by not mentioning anything about the flaps warranty and by mentioning the case of warranty being void i posted before.
So... For all you Z1 users out there: DO NOT EXPECT SONY TO REPLACE YOUR PHONE / TO TAKE ANY RESPONSABILITY IF WATER GETS INSIDE IT (even if you check that the flaps are firmily closed when you take the phone under water)!
IT'S JUST A MATTER OF LUCK!
The speaker gets quiet for a bit after getting water in them. Because if you look at it this way, would you be able to speak properly with a mouth full of water?

Yeah! The manual says waterproof, with IP58 certification.
water resistant was my Motorola Defy, and I used as waterproof, even getting pictures under water (btw.. it still work, even after some massive drops)
But... for Z1, that costs 4x more and is guaranteed, i still had no balls to test it... not even washing it(something bothers me about the audio jack.. it has nothing to prevent water there 1week old yesterday...
soueumesmoaki - the audio jack is under sony warranty (see picture posted by me earlier).
The warranty void occurs if water gets inside the phone by those rubber flaps.
Hi! Just wanted to update you guys.
While I was waiting in the store i encountered the man who Imports Xperia z1 to my country.
I told him what happened, he was very nice and immediately took the faulty handset and promised to deliver me a new one.
He told me that there is a problem with some phones which makes them bent and unsealed. I didn't notice any bent on my phone.
I thought it will be much more difficult for me to get a new phone.
I've got my new Xperia z1, tested it in water, everything works great.

Wow that's good customer service from their side! Not sure though if I have the guts to dunk mine in water, but accidents do happen and I sure hope as hell its not faulty when it does. Interesting that the rep confessed about some phones being bent, hmmm...
Have dunked mine quite a few times and its never had a problem. Apparently the longest time you can keep it submerged is half an hour although I'd prefer not to test that myself. No problems here, just make sure that your phones clean and that no dust is on the inside of the covers.

[HARDWARE MOD] Volume Increase for Nexus 5 (13 db increase)

Introduction:
So the LG Nexus 5 speaker seems to be low volume for some people and not so much others. I spoke to @supercurio and he says that his device is as loud as a Galaxy S 4 and the volume appears normal. My device suffers from low volume. I fear that this is due to the construction process and the glue used to assemble the device may have leaked into areas which it obstructs the speaker port. It appears to be a manufacturer defect.
But, this is XDA, so rather than complain, here is a fix. We aren't just talking about a little bit of an increase though, Senior Member @Oli1122 measured a 13dB increase using this method with just one additional hole on the front and one on the rear. That's well over double sound volume!
Note: Only do this if your volume seems oddly low or risk damaging components for no reason
You will need:
Phillips #0 screwdriver
needle
lighter
guitar pick
case opener tool
Performing the mod
1. Remove back panel from device (case opener tool/gitaur pick).
2. Heat up the needle with the lighter.
3. Stick needle through plastic until you feel no resistance in one of the locations shown in picture below.
4. Wait 1 second
5. Move needle around to slightly widen the hole after it loses some heat to the housing
6. Once needle has cooled, twist and remove.
7. You can remove the speaker assembly by removing four screws , then pick a new location and perform steps 2-6 on the other areas of the assembly shown in the pictures below.
8. Reassemble device.

Theory behind it:
If you ask an audiophile, they will tell you that free-air speakers are louder than sealed or ported speakers. This works because the device has an almost sealed speaker and the intended ported output of the sealed speaker chamber is much smaller than the primary speaker output.
Further testing is required
Considering this, it may benefit unaffected users to perform this modification. I intend to feature this on XDATV in two weeks. I would appreciate assistance with quantifiable measurements. So, if you perform this mod, please get a video showing your desktop's sound-level input meter with a microphone positioned at a known distance from the Nexus5 speaker (located on the left side as viewed from the front). Windows Sound Level Mixer will work just as Ubuntu or Mac's will too.
Conclusion:
Your results may vary. If you try this, share your results and let people know if you tested before/after with a microphone, which locations you used, pictures, or if it just plain sounds louder. This issue affects several users and now at least I can watch YouTube videos comfortably now, without cupping the speaker or holding it closely outside.
Thanks Adam! ) Though, risky but worth a shot..
OT: Any Idea about Alsa Mixer app working to make it louder?
Regards
On my own Nexus 5 the speaker volume seems fine, but I like the idea of having the speaker open air. Won't the back cover just block the extra hole though?

Once the air escapes the speaker enclosure, it can use the entire body of the Nexus 5 for airspace and escape through various ports.
Can you make a video of the process?

I doubt that would work as well as this.
@jlmcr87 never quote the OP in its entirety. If something needs to be changed, it can't be this way. Also, it makes it harder to read comments. But If you're going to quote the post, at least read it.
I plan to feature this on XDATV as I stated in the post you quoted.
As a side note, this makes the back panel vibrate with your music. For reference, it vibrates more than the keyboard when typing and I felt no such vibration previously... So I'm quite sure this is much louder.
While I don't have a Nexus 5, my first impression - based on the rather MASSIVE amount of report discrepancies from so many various Nexus 5 owners - is that the audio problems are caused by something like this as Adam has just described. I remember when the original iPhone came out that it had somewhat crappy audio levels from the internal speaker, and I got one at some point and removed that plastic bottom cover and found the reason: the "dust shield" that Apple had put in place on it was incredibly thick material, much thicker than was actually required to keep dust out.
I removed the original dust cover on the inside of the plastic housing, replaced it with a much thinner material (could have been something as simple as a small snippet of Saran-wrap to be honest but I found some very thin cloth material that was workable) and after reassembling things and powering up the phone, the difference in audio levels was pretty dramatic. Most people around were wondering just why the hell my iPhone was so freakin' loud compared to theirs and I told them, then I started making $20 a pop to do the same mod to theirs.
Anyway, recently I owned a Galaxy S4 Active and noticed that the microUSB cover (which seals it to be water-resistant at the bottom) works in conjunction with the entire bottom assembly as a "speaker enclosure" of sorts: when the port cover is removed/open, the audio quality from the internal speaker is very low and rather tinny; putting the cover in place "seals" the housing and then wham, you get midrange and bass as expected which is pretty cool by design.
As for the Nexus 5, it's awesome to see this as a potential "fix" of sorts and it'll most likely get noticed quickly.
Good job, Adam, and even in spite of me not owning a Nexus 5 it's welcome to see people going that extra step to resolve things.

int theory wouldnt all the hardware etc, cause sort of a muffled sound from other ports and a slight distortion from the vibration? i watched a review on making suround sound louder and all they did was replace the screws with brass screws and add silicone around the edges?
interesting! would like to see the feedback :good:

There may be ways to improve it, but like I said, the back panel forms part of the audio system now. This definitely increases the low frequency vibrations and high frequency sounds audibly louder.

That's the way the device comes. Its double-stick tape.
Hack, done. I didn't measure sound values before but I notice a clear difference. It obviously working as sound doesn't mute nearly as much as it did before when blocking the speaker, so air is escaping. Thanks for the tip!

Same here which makes me think it needs a software optimization vs hardware mod.
Just finished this mod, and I'm happy with the results.
I wouldn't say my Nexus 5 was too quiet before, but this definitely increased the overall loudness.
At full volume, the device definitely vibrates more than before, but not enough to make a noise when sitting on a hard surface.
Also, now, when covering the speaker port with my finger, the volume is not decreased as much as before.
Tip: I had to heat the tip of my needle to the point that it was glowing red before it would penetrate the plastic. I used a sewing needle.
I also reccommend starting with less holes, and making more later if you decide it's still not loud enough. I could see overdoing this mod being a bad thing, as more of the sound would be leaking into the body than what's coming out of the speaker grille, which could make everything sound like it's in a tin barrell.
Thanks for the tip Adam.

Really unhappy with Nexus 4 (warning: rant)

This feeling isn't new--I've been unhappy with the Nexus 4 since it arrived. It's the only phone I've ever owned that I would call "beautiful", but its design, hardware, and low-level software problems are ridiculous. But I'm not going to talk about muted speakers, phone sliding off surfaces, 3G or Wifi problems, or batteries that won't charge. I'd like to tell you about the power button.
My power button got harder and harder to press over time, eventually becoming completely impossible. The repair was cheap. But what makes me so angry is that though I never got my phone wet, the button was corroded by water.
How did this problem occur? I live in a warm and humid climate. I keep the phone in my pocket. In the gym, I took precautions (using a case and turning the open part of the case *away* from my body). But as many of you know, the Nexus 4 gets ridiculously hot, especially gaming (or when using GPU+gps+data at the same time). It was basically impossible not to sweat on this phone. And it broke as a result.
In short, LG and Google designed a phone that makes its users really hot, yet corrodes and fails if you keep it in a sweaty pocket.

Yeah i expected also when i bought the nexus 4 that everything would be good since google make the system for nexus 4 but my problem was that wifi was really bad and the phone was slippery but i fixed that with an anti slip protector for the back. I also have the first revision of nexus 4 and i don't have too much trouble. The button can get corroded by water if its humid or if its really cold and laying by the window (noticed that with my tablet) that the battery won't charge could aoso be the usb port. Gaming goes also hot with gps and data but then you need to try an custom rom with HellsDoctor or Hellscore they keep it pretty cool all the time and good battery usage.
I agree with you That lg and google designed a phone that makes it users really hot cause even on stock normal browsing made my phone really hot. I just hope that google will fix all those software problems with 4.4.3 or even 5. And is your phone now broken?
broken back

Nope, my N4 is still without scratch after 10 months. Never dropped it.
Talking about problems that this device "have", I had few android phones and with every phone there were some problems. There is no phone on this planet that is perfect so it is either live with that or just don't buy smartphones (or any other phones).
Great for you.. Though cracked I love this phone
Well this probablly a 1/100000 case.
Realistic way of solving: Don't drive up design costs for any unprobable usages losing millions of potential customers

Where is your ambition, and how can you be satisfied with such pathetic design problems? Certainly they are difficult problems, but other manufacturers have managed to solve them. Have you never used a HTC or Samsung? My HTC doesn't overheat to that degree, even though it has an extremely conductive metal body.

Indeed, before I sold my Nexus 4 (last night), I had planned to put it beneath a kettle to boil water. Above this would be a turbine, generating electricity during to save money on my utilities bills. And plugged in to this power source would be a USB cable, to keep the Nexus 4 charged. Thus, the Nexus 4 is inefficient beyond the allowed limits of physics, creating a paradox that allows perpetual free energy.
But maybe that was just my N4--yours may not work for this.

Nexus 4 is my first and will be my last Nexus phone....until Google get it's **** together, i'll stick with Samsung. I was much happier with my Note 2....even though it was too big.
The thing that bothers me the most is the thing the should be the best --- screen. The IPS panel has good colors once PA_Halfbreed is applied, but it looks TFT-ish (Cheap) in dark rooms. In medium light the screen is wonderful - like OLED. And then outside it is too reflective and not bright even on max brightness....700 nits my ass
Vertical angles good....horizontal angles ok.....45 degree horizontal angles.....ZERO
