Unlocking your bootloader and installing Clockworkmod Recovery
Vital step for flashing ROMs. Unlocking your bootloader is also important so you can flash Clockworkmod Recovery.
You first need to download L7CWM.rar
You also need to have USB Debugging on on your phone, which you can activate by going to Menu>Settings>Developer Option>USB Debugging.
Move the package to the Desktop.
Extract the files to C://, the root destination.
Now connect your phone to PC via USB Cable.
Run the extracted Flash_Bootloader.bat, and it'll unlock your device's bootloader.
Your phone now and should reboot, in which after it's done you can run the extracted Flash_Recovery.bat.
To continue flashing recovery, follow the on-screen directions.
Reboot your device. Your phone now has Clockworkmod Recovery!
Getting into Clockworkmod Recovery.
Okay, now you have Clockworkmod Recovery installed on your device. Here's how to actually get into Clockworkmod Recovery.
Getting into Clockworkmod Recovery Manually using buttons.
Power Off your device, or do a battery pull and wait 10 seconds if you're stuck somewhere.
Press down and hold FIRMLY on both volume buttons and the home button.
Keeping the other buttons pressed, now press and hold the power button.
Hold down all buttons FIRMLY until the phone vibrates. The boot logo should appear and soft button should light up.
If Clockworkmod Recovery doesn't run, do a battery pull, wait, and restart.
Flashing Process
General process for flashing a new custom ROM, but be sure to follow any other specific directions the devs say to do. This is assuming you already have your bootloader unlocked and is using CWM Recovery.
Create a Nandroid backup (highly recommended).
Wipe data/factory reset.
Wipe your cache.
Wipe the Dalvik cache. You may enter a bootloop if you don't wipe your caches.
Enter "Mounts and storage" and mount /system and format /system.
Flash your gApps (be sure to have the correct version).
Reboot.
Wait. First boot is always long.
Here's also a link that explains a lot of stuff like how to unlock your bootloader and install CWM Recovery. link

Nicely organized, all simple and nice. Don't forget to add how to unlock bootloader and about recoveries too.

Hey man I didn't find it. Can I get the link.
Of both rom.
Nice guide, only thing I would suggest is splitting the ROMs up into their respective android versions.

I'd recommend asking this in the CM10.1 thread, seeing as there are multiple versions of it (epinter vs Hashcode). Also, if you want help you're going to need to give more info than that. Were you on 4.1.2 when you flashed? Which gapps package did you use? Which thread was the ROM from? And of course, when you flashed did you wipe everything first?

Question: Samsung Galaxy S i9000

Hi All,
Sorry if this is not posted in the right section, i am unable to post in the correct section due to me being a new registered member, so i thought i'd ask here and maybe some of you can help and share some of you're knowledge.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S i9000, I followed a guide posted on the XDA developers website (here is the link) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546
I ignored the INSTALLING JW4 section as i was already updated to GINGERBREAD 2.3.6 XXJW4.
I then followed the Installing Root section with success.
I then installed Cyanogenmod 9.0 on the install custom ROM section, but further down the section i was also told to install gapps....Could someone tell me what gapps is ? and what gapps does ?
Everything else went well and i am now running Cyanogenmod 9.0 on my Galaxy S.
I was wondering, i hear alot about jelly bean, ice cream, cyanogenmod, what are the differences ? or are these the same thing ?
now i have cyanogenmod installed on my phone, and i want to update to say Jelly Bean 4.2 how do i go about doing this ? do i need to follow the guide and root again or ?
also can someone explain flashing to me ?
Thanks in advance.

First of all...what is GAPPS?
Gapps is short for google apps...its has gmail, maps, play store, maybe youtube or an update to the camera app (not sure) but you get the idea...you don't have to install gapps but it's recommended...here is a link to gapps: GAPPS. Third link is what you should download...the one that says CyanogenMod 9.x.x
Second, Ice cream sandwich(ICS), Jelly Bean(JB):
These are android OS versions, you are now using cyanogenMod 9....this is using Android ICS(ice cream sandwich) this is android 4.0.3 or 4.0.4.
Here is a full list of Android OS versions.
Now you get the idea...
Third...what is CyanogenMod?
Simply put, CyanogenMod is a group of people who take the stock android OS and make some customizations, editing, tweaking, and theming...like others...but CyanogenMod(CM) are so great, that most other ROMs depend on CM (You'll see in the ROM page something like "Based on CM" or "Based on cyanogenMod 9").
Extra:
What is ClockWorkMod recovery? (CWM):
CWM is the most popular custom recovery that gives you more options than that of the stock recovery...most of the time, when you root your phone you flash a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP(Team Win Recovery Project) which give you the ability to flash custom ROMs and other flashable ZIP files...
This is a great guide and will help you greatly...
Have a nice day

Quicktime help

Hey guys
I haven't flashed a ROM on the GalaxyS for a while
So i'm on SlimRom 4.3 and I want to update to SuperNexus 4.0 build 1.1
When I flash the ROM (after wiping everything) I get a Status 7, partition error.
So I flashed the latest nightly from CM11, now it keeps restarting into recovery (CWM v6.0.4.6)
If I flash CM 11 again, same thing
What do?
Thanks

[Q] How to flash MIUI ROM on my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000, running CM11,KitKat

Hello everyone,
I am usnig Samsung Galaxy Note N7000, running CyanogenMod 11 latest nightly, Android 4.4.4.
I want to try MIUI ROM. But in the entire MIUI thread I havent been able to find any thread talking about how to Flash MIUI ROM on devices already running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
So can someone please guide me how flash my mobile with MIUI ROM.
Why should there be countless instructions for every version of all available Roms?
Simply follow the installation instructions given by the owner:
Installation:
- Download latest PhilZ N7000 kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1901191
- Make a Backup of your current rom
- Flash it
- Reboot recovery
- Make a Fullwipe (dont forget to wipe /preload )
- install the rom

Thanks for speaking out something. But my question was, my mobile is already running on KitKat (Android 4.4.4) but the official developer version of MIUI for Galaxy Note N7000 is still on "Author: MIUI Official Team and Version: 3.2.22 (V4)" which is on Jellybean. So its actually downgrading. And before Installing KitKat I remember that there is a change how KitKat worked compared to Jellybean. So wont there be a different procedure while downgrading from KitKat to Jellybean??
Which is what I am unable to understand. So do tell me if there is a procedure to follow or any points to remember while downgrading from KitKat CM11 to Jellybean MIUI.

[ROM]CyanogenMod 7.2 Stable

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 2.3.7 (GB), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Your Warranty is now void
And other stuff that nobody reads
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
I built this using broadcomcm sources and mixed it with team DZB Sources
