[Q] Camer preview flickers - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day all,
I got my Z1 and updated to 4.4.2. Its a non rooted one. I have issues in camera. The camera preview itself flickers all time, even though pictures taken were clear. I tried clearing cache and data files, factory reseted too; didn't help !!! I Is there any way to overcome this bug?
Thanks!!
Reg,
Raj.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but I also have a lot of noise in the viewfinder/camera etc. (hard to describe exactly but sort of like watching analogue television not quite on the station correctly).. have never seen this on any other smartphone..
My phone is brand new.. seems to really only be a problem indoors/low light etc..
Does everyone have this? coming from an S3 its a bit off putting.

Flickers in camera preview
Yea exactly the same as you told. Is there any app or something to fix this ?? Does rooted phones also has this issue?

There is no difference in Rooted or Not, this is related to the Update, one of many issues. I think there is no fix, just try different Rom, even stock.

Camera Preview not working
since lollipop my camera preview does not work. I can see the small thumbnail but it will not open

Camera Scrambled

So the past few weeks I have been having issues with my camera on my rooted G1 (SuperD 193), and the problem existed before I flashed to super d (using cyanogen latest before). The camera kept going from looking normal to casting everything in a purple hue.
Now everything is scrambled, like old cable for a channel you didnt have.
Anyone else experience a problem similar to this? If I can get a picture up I will.
Did you wipe? If not, you should do it. Or do it even if you did before.

Came from "complete eclair" to fasttest and got the same weird purple scrambled look.
I will put Bart from Complete eclair back and see what happens. I suspect the drivers are not getting wiped.
I put Complete eclair back and now it looks like crap to. I think the camera is borked.
Have the same problem. Its not the ROM its the actual phone. The Camera Lens and wiring is malfunctioning.
I find that if I take a few pictures the camera will go back to normal. I tried getting a scrambled pic last night, but it seems to only be doing the off-color hue thing. Now if I take a few photos, it will return to normal coloring.
Very strange.

Just took 20 pictures of my keyboard. No change. Found a thread on this from a few days a ago and it looks like the same problem. Why is all this hardware failing at the same time?

I also took pictures out the window, then back inside. I wonder if the exposure adjustment might have helped?

My camera is loading normal now... hmmmm good news! For the record, I never use my camera much, I am wondering if the sensor just needed some work

Mine is still messed up. I called Tmob and set up to swap it out. I will have to figure out the un-root thing before I send it in. I have a month of warranty left and don't want to find out after that the camera just dies.

[Q] Is my phone camera broken??

I've been having this problem with my phone's camera, every time I start camera this "pink" split screen will appear and the camera app crashes.
What's going on here? (and no I haven't dropped my phone, yet)
Well find a few camera apps on the market and see if they do the same.
It's possible the camera is damaged, in which case you would have to resort to warranty.

I downloaded other camera apps and they work fine, this problem seems to plague the native camera app. Very odd. Has somebody else faced this problem?

Very odd. You could try a reflash to see if it solves any problems..
The problem returned again! I'm pissed, I started getting this issue after I flashed last time to JM5. I might have to re-flash or just wait for Froyo to come out (if it ever comes out )

[Q] Colour issue when recording video - re-flash camera firmware?

I am having a problem with my HTC one M7 (Rogers) . I am running Android Revolution HD 84.0 (and I have tried the last couple versions without any change in the problem). When recording video the colour information seems to be horribly skewed relative to the brightness data. The screen shows the video properly, the problem is only visible when playing back the video. Here is a video of the problem, and yes I see the irony in using a broken camera to record a video of another broken camera:
It looks like it is either reading a bunch of garbage data before the colour data, or starting partway through the colour data and reading off into another section of memory (I don't know if it is read top to bottom or bottom to top).
I tried changing ROMs and cycled through the last few versions of ARHD without any change in behaviour. I did a factory reset and there was no change. I am not sure what provoked the problem as I don't frequently review my videos so I don't actually know when it started but it was in the last 2-3 months.
My hope would be that the next step is to re-flash the camera firmware but I haven't any idea how to do that on this phone or where I would obtain camera firmware.
Has anybody run into this before? What should I try next?
After some searching I see 2 other people have had this problem with no solution:

This is a known issue with the HTC Camera App. Not a Rom issue or an problem with your camera.
Recording at 1080x720 works fine. It was something to do with HTC implementing the eye experience on the M7 Camera app. You can replace the camera app with an older one but you will lose the eye experience. Or record at 1080x720

I wish known issues like this were better disclosed - I could have avoided wasting people's time.
You seem to be correct, I have changed to the google camera and it seems to be working properly.

[Q] N6 Camera Issues

Anyone else having issues like this? As far as the camera cannot connect error I have read about people with that problem and I literally tried every single suggestion. I'm not a n00b so this is really bugging me (see what I did there) Anyway all of these pictures are with the same phone. On stock 5.1.1 I RARELY could connect to the camera. With Android M preview I can at least connect about 80% of the time. However, results aren't always good. Should I just suck it up and call and get it replaced? Or is the actual phone OK and I'm one of the unlucky guys with the camera bug.

Same here. Had to RMA. Unable to connect and purple pixilation.
Thanks guys. Got mine swapped out at the store. Camera pops up right away and works awesome. Other things I noticed is that this new one perfectly fits my case mate folio case. The other power button must have been off by a little bit. This new one also got 50k+ on Antutu. I was lucky if the old one hit 43k.

Camera stottering - New rom / kernel a solution?

Hello,
because i bought a new phone i gave my "old" Nexus 6 to my wife. Since a updated to Marshmallow i had problems with the camera. It stuttered while making a video. But i dont often used the camera, so i ignored it. My wife is Snapchat addicted and she can't make good videos with the front camera of the N6....it's like a slide show....the record is not smooth. I searched at the internet and a lot of people have the same problem since Adnroid Marchmallow ....
I flashed her CM 14, because i thought it might be a problem with the stock rom , but the problem remained. So my question is. Because i know i had not the problem at Android Lollipop. Is there anybody who had the same problem and solved it with flashing another rom? Or is it worth to try another kernel? I looked at the "rom forum" and found the "sky dragon 5.0 with a "new" kernel and probably i will try this. So my question is....is it a problem with the rom? is it a problem with the kernel? is it a problem with the hardware? What you expert think its the best way to fix the problem (i tried tips in the internet like diasble geodata at the photos or disable the battery safer for the camera app).
I hope you are able to understand my english. Otherwise i will explain it in other words.
Thank you very much!
Flash a factory image (will wipe the phone 100% but take it back to bone stock). If the camera issue is present on stock rom, stock kernel, with no modifications, then it's a hardware issue.
i have had problems with stuttering camera app before but it was fixed by resetting the phone. not really sure why after installing a new ROM you still facing this issue.
have you tried other camera apps? download a free one from the store and see its the same deal.
My first Nexus 6 had no issues whatsoever. When I had to RMA that one for the massive battery bulge issue, my second Nexus 6 had the camera stuttering issue. It would happen whether I was taking still shots or video. Obviously it was more noticeable on video, but it still made taking stills difficult. I took a video at the time to post on here to see if other people where having the same problem, but actually never got around to posting it...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k23njriKiDk
Anyway, I RMAed that phone for the camera issue but then the third N6 had the same issue. I decided to live with it though since (a) Motorola has a really frustrating return policy/procedure, and (b) since two different devices had it I didn't think there was any guarantee that an RMA would fix the problem.
Fortunately, I've noticed that lately (running Nougat now), the stutter has mostly gone away. I'd say that for still pictures it has gone away entirely. For videos, I think it is gone as long as you use the stock camera app. I've noticed that if you use other apps, like Instagram for example, my video still has issues. In that case though, it's more of a constant refocusing issue than a stutter issue.
So moral of the story is... for me at least, it seems to be ok on Nougat as long as you stick to the stock camera app.
