Sure, several times. Can you help me because you obviously know something i dont? Btw, i have Zaiben's rom.

Anyone?

If it's not under Settings -> Sound as you state, then maybe
try and search for it in your caller/call app and go into the in app settings?
Would be the only other place I could think of.
I gone from stock since a long time ago so no way for me to tell exactly where this could be.
EDIT: This may be something for you:
Disable Increasing Ring - App - Playstore Link

I searched every place that could have something in common with sound, but nothing.
And I tried that app - good thing about it is that ringtone was normal
but in first few seconds sound stutter a bit so there is good and bad side.
Eh, it seems l'll need to try different rom.
Thanks anyway.

Microphone

Is it just me or do other members of this forum also have problems with there microphone volume?
During a call, people on the other side are hearing me not so good.
And yes i unchecked the noise reduction in phone settings.
If so, anyone got a solution for this problem?
No one???
If you're still using my CM12 build, you might increase the microphone volume with FauxSound app.
Is it in your rom?

No, it's a paid app from Play Store.
However, adjusting the same audio features is also supported by 3C toolbox or System Tuner. Both are free, yet a little too bloated with features I personally don't need.
Can someone help me with a walktrough?

Just install System Tuner, look for Sound Settings and adjust whatever you want

I have the same problem bro . Do you know how your problems have gone away or do you have any suggestion for me???

Notifications make no sound, even when selecting one in the settings menu.

I have been an android user for a long time, but this one is stumping me as there is no process or specific error. I have searched and haven't found anyone with a similar problem. Just got a Nexus 6 today and it will not make any notification sounds. The notification volume is all the way up and phone calls have a ringtone that works. What is really throwing me off is that when I am in the general settings or the settings for any other app, clicking on a notification sound has no response. I will be in settings and overlooking the list of potential default notification sounds and no matter which one I click there is no noise, as where with the ringtones they all will play me the sample.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it, I hate that something this simple has stumped me somehow.
Thank you.
this happens with my alarm sound in the settings. it just won't play it, even though its a google sound. but, when its needed, like when my alarm goes off, it sounds. and that's what is really important. so I ignore the fact that it doesn't play in settings anymore (it used to though).

If that were the case I could deal with it but it won't even make a sound when its supposed to.

try using an app to set a notification sound, maybe that will work.
This happened to me running Pure Nexus, reboot fixed the issue. Still not sure why it didn't work in the first place

[Q] Ascending ringtone fix/mod?

Hi,
Does anybody know how to fix the awful ascending ringtone in the moto g5 plus? I have missed many calls and messages because of this. I am okay to flash a zip file if needed. Please provide a fix.
Disabling it in settings seems to do the trick pretty well...
Here is the zip to disable it.i looked in my phone and there is no option.

Its not in the settings of a lot of phones.
Don't ask me why its not an option. I asked Motorola and they couldn't come up with any reson other than "its the way the phone software was written"
I use the Disable Increasing Ring App which works OK but unfortunately boosts the sound not only for the ring tone but also for every notification I get (email/WhatsApp/Facebook etc) . Shame cos otherwise its a good app.

I thought I missed the option in the settings but apparently it just isn't there. It's a shame almost every other phone has that option under Settings>Sound

Is there any way to choose custom sounds for notifications?

I accidentally selected the phone storage for the location to search for sounds before I changed to settings to always ask and even though I hit cancel at the time I'm stuck with this selection. I made the choice in the Android messages app and tried settings>apps>messages>clear defaults but it didn't change and now I noticed that it's my only choice for other notification sound in other apps too! What am I missing? How do I get it to let me pick the path every time now?
I use Google's messages so I never saw anything that let me choose (also unrooted), but any sounds placed in to notifications folder on the root of the phone and sdcard can be choosen. Just note that it would use the meta tag info, if there are none then it just shows up on list as an entry called 'sound' (possible to have multiple sound entry)

Hmmm... Android message? or the Built in message? Anyway, you could try installing Zedge (ringtones app) and then from within the app try to change the sound. Maybe it will prompt you to reselect the location?

Both apps actually, all notification sounds go to the stick sounds. I can set a sound from Zedge but not to a specific contact or app. I'm looking to get the options back when I click on notification sound in an app.
As a long shot you could try resetting the sound picker app

I don't know which app that is
I ended up just clearing all defaults. It sucks but I couldn't pin point the app.

Well. At least you got it. But for future reference... Maybe look in Settings...Apps... then click on the top right 3 dots.
I found some interesting default apps options.
You can select different ringtones for different contacts. Select a contact you want to change the ringtone for (make sure you've previously downloaded the ringtone you want) and then edit. Scroll down to more then at the bottom of the options you can choose a custom ringtone and message tone.

Ok. Settings...Apps...3 Dots top right corner...Default Apps....Default App Selection....Ask before setting default apps.
You're going to need to clear the default for the app first...then redo it....it will ask, Just once...or Always.

This is what I did after I made my selection. The problem was I couldn't locate the app that kept me from selecting it in notifications do I cleared all defaults. Not a complete loss but mildly inconvenient.

Yeah, unfortunately that would be the only way (since you don't remember the app)...that way, when you select...the option should pop up everytime, as long as you select Just Once everytime.
I'm having the same issue but that options to change message tone is not available on the Oreo Beta, hope the include it in the final build.

Possibly. Although the Contacts app is made by Samsung and isn't included in Android stock (as far as I know). So you might just have the most stable version available whilst they tweak it to work with Oreo.
I personally don't use it as no one ever messages me/calls me.

Bet you'd also have a panic attack if you realised you'd left it at home too...

Sound in "Pi" does not work for me...

I noticed while setting up an 'alarm' that there is no sound. Has anyone else notice this? I went into settings and still could not make any sound. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What ROM version of Pie are you using?
DU v13 Pie, sounds works with no issues at all. For any sound to work the media sounds must be install. Did you try playing a video or using the Web Browser to play sounds?

Update:
I Installed a couple of apps (VLC, Musicolot and a couple of others(since all removed)) plus I used to enjoy Crackle (Sony) it won't even start. Even tried to run a video from YouTube-nothing runs and still no sound.
Should I just start over again and re-install DU v13? And does that means all I have to do is just wipe everything and start with the steps on pg 1? Or is there another way?
From what I have seen so far on my tablet is AWESOME, just need to get some minor "bugs" work out.
HP_Touchpad thanks again for all your help.
quickly, erased everything, re-installed and now have sound. GREAT! Does anyone know of a good sound program for the HPTP? Now to get Sony Crackle to work.

Sound does work on all video playback, once you install the App, specially youtube, reboot the tablet as it may not work the first time is run.
For the alarm, after installing the Pico open Gapps go to sounds setting:
The default alarm sound is set to sunshower : is almost as there was no sound, not a good choice for alarm.
to change sounds
select it
select media storage ( do not select sounds ) it will not work
select from the list.
Attached are the screenshots.
Thanks HP_TOUCHPAD, but I cannot get those screenshots to come up??? Where do I select "change sounds" to get to the "media storage". I did install the Pico version, but I do not see "Gapps". So, I am really missing something here (sorry about that). I do have the Sound screen showing in your first screenshot, so hopefully I'm close. Again, I really appreciate your time on this.

Go to settings --->> Sounds ---->> Default alarm sound (sunshower) ***touch on it*** then a pop up will show to complete action using: select Media Storage and then always, on the next screen select the alarm sound you like.

Gapps ( Google Apps ) if you install Pico is a variant of the Open Google Apps (Gapps)

When I touch on "Default alarm sound", I get 3 images under Default alarm sound; Currently set -Sun-Shower - Pixel Sounds; next is 'My Sounds' and finally 'Pixel Sounds'. If I touch on Currently set, I get "Sounds keeps stopping" with the following options a.) App info b.) Close app c.)Send feedback and finally d.) Copy crash log URL.
Also when this screen comes up, it sounds like running water.

That is because you already selected "sounds instead of Media Storage before" and now the app preference for sound is the Sound app and it crash, but there is an option to use Media Storage.

To fix it:
Go to settings and on the search bar on top, type Reset app Preferences.
Three results will show, touch Reset app preference ( reset apps )
The sound app will be reset, now go back to sound alarm, this time it will show an option select [ Media Storage ]
HP_TOUCHPAD, once again thank you. So much to learn. Is there a reference book or epub that shows some of these aids?

You are very welcome, if there is any manuals or reference books I do not know. I learn as I go, just found out how to do it and fix it. Customs ROMs have their Tweaks as not all may work as expected and then you have Android that is very fragmented, is all about feeling lucky and give it your best shot!
