Coverage in NY - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Coming from the evo lte and considering either the sprint or vz m8. Wondering how people are finding the coverage/network so far in the ny metro and LI? Evo had lackluster coverage at times, bot willing to commit to 2 more years of that just to upgrade phone.

Getting rid of tmobile g2

Well I'm a little mad at my phone I'm going to a 3g only phone because on the tmobile map it shows 4g availible in my area and no 4g struggle for 3g half the time...now what phone should I get?
Tmobile

The defy is a good all around phone. And you can't really break it either. Believe me. I tried. There are some excellent roms out for it, battery life is incredible (I averaged 3 days w\o a charger). It all depends on if you can deal with the Motorola bootloader shizniz. They're not too nice when you update and you're rooted

Maybe wait for the LG 2X as it's supposed to have bands for T-Mo AND AT&T.
(That might future proof you in case AT&T actually gets their way. And not to mention dual core )
Otherwise I say Nexus S

Getting my Bionic on Thursday!

So I just made the switch from T-Mobile from my beloveded Sensation today. I was in my 30 day trial still (coming from Sprint to T-Mobile) so im returning it. Both horrible service where I live. So that's why I have chosen Verizon. I have the LG revolution for now until Thursday when my Bionic comes in I will make the swap.
Coming from two HTC phones (sensation and evo) I'm excited to check out the Bionic. Especially on Verizons lte network. Anyone else getting one on launch day or making the switch from another carrier?

getting mine on friday probably!!!!!!!
What is the best option!? I've heard Amazon, Best Buy, Costco? Any SOLID suggestions on where I should get mine on Thursday!??!
I will be switching from ATT. I have dropped so many calls the last couple of weeks it has been unbearable. The only bad thing is that Verizon is not officially in my county, but they have better reception here than ATT. The best part is that we have a huge corporate account with Verizon and I still get unlimited data.
Im getting mine from one of my local Verizon stores. Can't wait. Although I'm an HTC fan I think I'm gonna like using something different.
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
I will most likely get it from Costco on Thursday, because the have it bundled with a bunch of accessories for $299.
Gonna try costo myself...if it holds to be true with the included acc pack...crossing my fingers
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
I didn't even think of that... but since I purchased the LG revolution today to get me started I get to return it without the re stocking fee Thursday and purchase my bionic. I'm just hoping I'm gonna like it coming from the evo and the sensation.

If I don't buy mine from a verizon store, can I still use my new every 2 discount..at let's say...costco??
My Bionic will be here in the morning. I had the D1,D2,DX,Fascinate, and currently the Thunderbolt. The cool thing is i have not come out of pocket for any of my phones since the D1 lol. I hope something can be done about the bootloader if not of well Ill give Bionic to the wife and take her Thunderbolt

Verizon vs t-mobile? Cost reasons

how is tmobile reception primarily on east coast? Looking to get rid of big red.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
If Big Red is crappy don't go to another CDMA carrier - it is even crappier. Sprint has no coverage in some parts whatsoever.
I had T-Mobile last year and it was way better.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
Not that its garbage. Look to spend less then I am for three lines. I am at around 150 for one line with an unlimited data smartphone and two regular lines.

Anyone else? Even if not on long island.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Ymmv with any carrier. I live in Jersey City, NJ. T-Mobile's coverage where I live rivals that of Verizon. (I should know, I have accounts, with both companies and a Rezound in my house) I also have a multi line account with T-Mobile. As far as I'm concerned, the only reason I even haz Verizon is Sparky wanted a Rezound.

Good feedback. Thanks! If I could just unload Verizon with nine months left on contract, it would be nice.

I'm in he same exact position as you. I wanna leave this ass backwards company. And around Philadelphia T-Mobile is strong. Constant 6-7 megs down. It usually smokes my lte on my thunderbolt unless I'm standing next to a tower

The only option barring a move to T-Mo is obvious....set up a tent under a Verizon tower.

Occupy VZW Tower!
I can't say much about the east coast, I live in Hawaii, on a rock in the middle of a huge pond. Service here is varied but all carriers here have equal amounts of coverage, but varies in different places based on who got priority on that tower location. Also, no HSPA+ or LTE here for anyone
TMobile.

Excellent though this sounds, I find it hard to remain enthusiastic about Sprint in light of the new plans "unlimited" plans they've been shopping around that severely restricts roaming data.

Yep roaming costs a lot of money. No carrier wants you to roam. Look at any carriers tos.

Is this something the GS4 is able to take advantage of? I know they said they are releasing 3 new phones.

Our S4 cannot do LTE @ 800Mhz. Only 1900.
And LA is one of the first cities to get the new triband! Ughhh

We all know if you have sprint coverage your getting lte. The question is what's sprint going to do about the other 70% of America that were roaming or no coverage. Fix that then yes sprint competes with Verizon.

Out of his ass....must have Sprint confused with T-Mobile. Sprint home coverage covers somwhere around 70% of the U.S. geographically and around 85-90% of the population currently. When NV is completed, around 95% of the population will be covered by 800,1900,2300mhz (tri-band)LTE and 800mhz voice.

I live in Sacramento California and don't have LTE. The only place that really has LTE in California is the bay area and LA. Not sure where the if you have Sprint coverage you are getting LTE comes from.

I know there is like 7 towers with live LTE in rural Sacramento. But that doesn't cover the 1 million plus that live here is my point

Sadly I doubt that this will have any benefit for my area. Despite being within 4 miles of 2 large casinos Sprint coverage in this area is spotty at best. I doubt if any municipalities with less than 1 million residents will ever get any form of Sprint LTE.
Verizon has LTE in practically the entire state but their pricing and customer service are so crappy that I would not even consider switching to them.

The plan is that anywhere that has 3g will have LTE by the end of next year.
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 2
One of the problems I have already been seeing is that you now get charged extra for data roaming in places where it used to be included in your plan. A lot of peeps I know are getting let out of contracts because of that. And from what I'm hearing it actually doesn't seem like roaming signal in general is as good as it was just a few months ago.

Sprint Spark to be released on Nov 8th!

http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/30/sprint-spark-enhanced-lte/
Does anyone know if our phone will support this updated network?
Just kinda wish they would put their focus into getting LTE into all markets first....there are a lot of people that have been patiently waiting to use LTE on their LTE devices that pay a pretty penny for!
Our phone isn't compatible

I think at this point Sprint can kiss my ass. Total BS that their focus isn't on LTE.

This is part of the lte focus. You can't get 60mbps over 3g.

Spark is just a fancy name for the triband network(1900,800,2500). Its the second phase of network vision. The One only supports 1900. Sprint is movin g in a great direction with this. Using 3 bands in tandem will give crazy speeds.

exactly...this is all part of network vision....they just added a name to it....with all the growing pains they're going through right now, it will be awesome once they're done.
I read somewhere that there MAY be a firmware update to enable this for us....is that true? I assumed that if the One Maxx is running the same hardware then the radios should be the same too
Not true. Our phone doesn't support Lte on 800 or 2600 so no spark on this phone.

I love new technology & spark looks pretty cool, but all I see them talk about is data.....what about voice? Will the tri-band phones improve w/ voice usage? I don't use voice all that much, but when I do it usually sux @ss.
