There are a few of the settings icons that are still white. System updates and bad seed tweaks come to mind. Thank you so much for this!

Can you get me a screenshot and I will check into it?

System Updates doesn't theme with the orange settings. Also when you toggle wifi, data, music, etc, they turn back to blue. Is that how it's suppose to be?

Yes, some will go back to the theme color (red, green, blue etc..) that you are using Because its controlled by the Rom Themes.
Looking into that System Updates icon.

I was thinking of adding some of my own custom colors to the status bar icons. I have the systemui.apk sitting here decompiled in vts and I don't see any of the colored ones from the tweaks apk here. I'm guessing the tweaks apk just changes a value in the colors.xml so that all the status bar icons change or I might be totally off base here. Do you know what value is changed in order to change them all at once? That would save me tons of time. Thanks!
Edit: maybe if I would of decompiled the tweaks apk first I would of found them... Lol. Now I just need to figure out how to add my own entries...
Edit2: Ok maybe I didn't find them... ?
But I found the preview pngs

You cannot add them to the tweaks app, it would have to be done with a VR theme zip. You would have to color each png, Its not an xml edit.
I edited each icon for each color theme in the rom found in the link in the OP.

Yeah I got the settings icons down.... I was curious if there was a color code I could change somewhere for the status bar icons in the tweaks app. I'm guessing when you switch colors it either points to different pngs or to change a specific hex code in a xml somewhere. Again I could be wrong.
Edit: I should be more specific. I want to alter the green in here
So it switches to my green color which is brighter.

Black Status Bar: Ask All Questions Here

If you have any questions regarding my Black Status Bar Mod (Find it here), I have created a thread in which I can answer. The Black Bar Mod is for CyanogenMOD, but if there are requests for some other ROMs, please let me know.
just a random question: is there a tool that allows me to create my own bar without creating a whole theme? i want a bar that combines the elements of several different ones from diff ROMs..
Doc, are you gonna update your mod with Anderweb's new froyo launcher?
Login Screen disappears.
My login screen disappears after flashing the CM5.07 .zip file. Just to let you know. However i think i was supposed to metamorph the theme....
this is more of a request, but could u make a flashable bar for CM5.0.7test6? like the one in BlueDark? this is what it looks like:
http://s10.directupload.net/images/user/100413/vlnyc22k.png

That is just the bar from my old Blue Haze theme.
ok.. right now i'm running Test6 with SuperBad1.2.5.. can i flash the BlueDark over that to get the bar? furthermore, will the launcher stay the same? i really like the smooth launcher in SuperBad
Make a metamorph with the status bar images in framework-res, then in CM5.0.7 test 7 you can change the text color in the status bar via spare parts.
in the new spareparts where we select text colors. what does the "SPN & PLMN" labels refer too?

Change statusbar color

Is there a way to change the color of the status bar ? Maybe some kind of app ?

App
yes there are many..
one of them is the search function
I'm gunna dredge this up because if you search "change status bar color" all you end up with is "show your home screen", a million threads on things with a title that has nothing to do with changing status bar colours and this thread.
How about being helpful for the new-to-android types that don't know what metamorph is and provide a link?

I used google and found a link fairly quick but since I'm new and I can't post a link, I guess your just going to need to search using this phrase "how to use metamorph XDA". It should be the first link...
Change statusbar_background.png in framework-res.apk and push it back to your phone in Recovery
Or create a metamorph for it

Yeah, I've done it. I just meant that the reply (especially from someone with a donate button!) to the OP could be more helpful for people new to android.
Since it is possible to change the color of the status bar, is it also possible to change the color of the settings screen? This screen is white on black on my HTC evo (and I think other devices). I would like to change it to black on white or so. I searched a lot, but couldn't find any method how to do this. Thanks again for any ideas!

the status bar is an image found in framework-res.apk /res/drawable-hdpi/
statusbar_background.png - status bar image. change it in photoshop to what you like. it's not a "color," so you can change the image to have a shadow, a design, whatever you like.
just keep in mind that if you make it transparent (like i did)...it may not work well with other apps on your phone (i.e. you'll see the apps background through the bar on top, not always a good thing!
dont confuse it with status_bar_background.png, which is the background file for your notification drawer.

Many thanks! I will try to find this in the file you mentioned. Basically I will change that background with white.

You have to decompile to be able to edit xml files. One of those three files mentioned to search for(status bar expand) causes my phone to boot loop when I edit it. Is it linked to some other file that must also be edited?

[Q] Need to locate these files? Help please

Hi i would like some help which would be nice from any Theme Creator or Dev because they will probably know where to look.
So can anyone tell me which files need to be changed to make the volume & brightness bars in quicksettings pulldown bar to change the bar color? i have changed the color via framework, system ui or htc res, rosie, settings files but.... not sure which files i changed in what location that did that?
Also which file do i need to locate to change the button pressed on the home screen? Cause i wanna get rid of the green sense look to my phone, my phone is looking pretty modded & i know how to use Photoshop to change PNGs & know how to mod APKs too.
Any help would be great i have tried the search bar on here & also in google but didnt get any results & to be honest i know people on XDA will know this.... thanks in advance
The progress bar color in quick settings is defined by this file: common_progress_full.9.png (in SystemUI.apk/res/drawable-hdpi)
Are you using a Gingerbread 2.3.5 or Sense 3.5 rom? If yes, the button press color in the homescreens can't be changed. At the moment all available tools fail with decoding the images.
In Sense 2.1, you have to edit Rosie.apk. For Sense 3 (+ GB 2.3.3 or .4), fusion.apk has to be edited with m10 tool.
I can give you more details if you want to.
Thanks
Thanks for that but i cant locate it in my system ui/res/drawable-hdpi? i tried looking in htc/rs/draw-hdpi too? cant find that common_progress_full.9.png? could you check again for me or if have time upload the file? i cant see why it would be missing though?
I havent had a chance to mess with the m10 editor? is it easy enough to use when editing the fusion.apk?
I love XDA.... its the best for phone modding & has many helpful members

You have to load the Rosie.apk with m10 editor, then decompile the Rosie_navbar.m10 file and change the following opacity values from 1 to 0.0099999998. If you set them to 0, pressing on the buttons will have no effect.

It should if it doesnt then system UI wont have theme everything else will. I only use it on HD2 192-240 dpi but think it should work with other AOKP builds. Thats why I am asking for people to try and let me know. I just hated the baby blue and thought maybe others felt the same.

ok system ui doesn't scale to hdpi devices just fyi. they work but are big. also the underscore bracket / line that goes under the text you are inputting whether it is in mms, etc is stretched out and doesn't look correct.
i was using the yellow/orange one btw.

I edited them all by hand in gimp. Took a while. Maybe I will get around doing them for system ui hdpi. The build/phone I use, uses xhdpi for system ui.
I was thinking Yellow was going to be my next one to do.
whipping up a yellow theme and just got done with the battery, what do you think?
Looks really nice. I didnt do battery in purple green or orange theme. Plan on going back and adding them later. I use the battery bar in ics myself.
Feel free to use my theme and modify the stuff inside all you want. Post your finished here too if ya like. I really do not like Baby Blue
Weird I just extracted out SystemUI\res\drawable-hdpi folder from latest build i use to gimp edit the png's .
Thats when I remembered there where none for me to edit. And thats only the SystemUI every other coloring I did was hdpi since thats what's in the rom I use.
So they should work for any HDPI device if they dont have systemUI colored then those png's need edited and added to theme.
If any of you have tried them on a different ROM or Device than I use please let me know how it worked and what your device is.
Also I only use the Gray theme so if something isnt right let me know what to remove and fix. And I will try and update it
Thanks

I dont use the Battery Icons.I really like the battery bar and its charging animation. So there really isnt that many png's that are blue in that hdpi folder. I will try and edit them and add to my current theme's this weekend
i am running AOKP Build (see link below) that was ported to our device (SGS-Epic-4G) so i flashed the most recent Mint version (from post #21) and the icons, dialer, contacts and a bit more are themed, but not the status bar... any reason you know of as to why? i had to mount system prior to flashing but after that i was nice... thanks man.

Thanks for the reply and for your support as well. I am sorry to confuse you, but even though you are correct that the thread I linked to in my original post was the MIUI ICS (V4) thread for our phone, I am not asking for your AOKP themes for MIUI ICS, but rather for the AOKP build I am running that happened to be posted in the MIUI ICS thread(?). XDA Member Alias8818 ported AOKP to our device (Samsung Galaxy S, Epic 4G, SPH-D700) and the link to the AOKP port was in the MIUI ICS thread, sorry.... Hopefully the links below will help sort it out, and I also included a link to my Dropbox folder that contains the SystemUI.apk you requested from our AOKP build, and I also included screen shots I took after flashing the most recent Gray theme to show what has been themed and what hasn't...
Here is a <LINK> to the SystemUI.apk (I uploaded it to my Dropbox account) I extracted from the AOKP build I'm on.
Here is a <LINK> to the specific post in the thread that contained the link to the AOKP build I'm on.
Here is a <LINK> to the Dev-Host Download page for the AOKP Build I am on (named "AOKP-MS4-CM9-Beta0.zip").
@dude
So I decompiled sysui using latest apktool and changed the color of my status bar clock and date and recompile successfully, put original signing keys back in using 7zip and flash it but sysui isn't working. Not force closing just no wallpaper or status bar. You ever come across this? I'm sure im doing something wrong.

We can change the Clock color in Tosti's ICS, inside Rom Control.
I don't mess with the APK's never decompiled or compiled one. I have been busy this week, I bought a 78 HD XLH, and then sold my car to fast lmao. Working on the old Hog, and its a Daily driver to and from work. It has rained every day since I sold my car lol.
I am going to refresh my theme's soon as I can when Tosti's next update comes out.

In the decompiled folder browse to /res/layout

Open res/values/dimens.xml
Step 1:
Open res/layout/status_bar.xml with notepad++ or compatible text editor (Not notepad or wordpad) and make the change below

3. Save and close the file.
Recompile the APK DO NOT RESIGN THE APK
Reboot to SS recovery and adb push to /system/priv-app/SystemUI.apk
Delete Cache and Dalvik-Cache and reboot.
NOTICE
This MOD has been around for years and is constantly being modded or adjusted for each OS version,
each device and each devs own needs. DEVS are free to use this mod no need to ask for permissions.
All I ask is recognition as to where you got it from.

See post #2 for an alternate method
Alternate Method [smali edit]
Alternate method for removing carrier branding using smali edits
Pull /system/priv-app/SystemUI.apk - either from device or from ROM zip file.
Decompile using available tools - I recomend Virtuous Ten Studio
Locate /smali/con/android/systemui/statusbar/phone/PhoneStatusBar.smali
Search for this method .method setCarrierLabelVisibility(ZI)V
Replace the entire contents of the method with the one below:
Code:
.method setCarrierLabelVisibility(ZI)V
.locals 0
return-void
.end method
Re-compile the apk and adb push to your device or add back into ROM zip and flash.
NOTE:
This method has the advantage of not interfering with the statusbar layout or ticker display as previous mods would occasionally cause
the statusbar icons to "jump" as tho some ticker display or carrier logo was attempting to display.
The other advantage is that this method should work for android lollipop as well (untested)

as a note @TheAxman the statusbar is still a little flaky it comes and goes of its own accord but the notification panel one is completely gone,
P.S.
Think I'm gonna have to check out your complete vissix rom when you get it done :good::good:
P.P.S. I just modded the OP, think i may have fixed the statusbar label as well

logo still visible on the statusbar expaneded it should look like the screenshot attached (with the exception that i have a custom background)
if you want the logo off of the lockscreen thats a different mod
and the normal status bar one is still flaky

Do you still have the systemui.apk before it was modified? If yes, two ways.
Safer way: make a flashable zip that replaces your current one with it.
Quicker way: copy/paste the original apk in system, fix permissions, reboot. This way will cause systemui.apk to fc until you reboot.
