Sorry..for my stupid question. I am so new for Android.
Question 1: I just rooted my Z2 by Doomlord's tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783750. And now I want to install this dual recovery. So, if I installed this dual recovery, then do I need to unlock bootloaded to flash any customize rom or tweaks? such as, sound mod from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2758189
Question 2: Which option should i select? 1 or 2? After rooted I saw the SuperSU icon on my Z2. So, is it correct if I select option 1?

You only need an unlocked bootloader if the rom requires a custom kernel to operate. Other then that, you can do everything you want.

@[NUT]
So after running the new Z2 root tool I can't seem to install your dual recovery using Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.7.124-BETA.installer.zip
Currently on the .402 update and using SuperSU.
At first I thought it was a problem writing to /system but then managed to get binaries updated and Xposed installed.
Tried selecting both option 1 and 2 at different occasions but with no luck.
I don't have a log file from the phone, but I have attached the output from both attempts as text files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Step 2: Extract zip
Step 3: Run install.bat
Step 4: After reboot and message "Enjoy root!", copy everything from cmd

Before we begin, you must agree that I'll be not held responsible if anything goes wrong or your phone gets bricked or lightning strikes it while following this guide. You try this guide at your own risk. This guide has been personally built and tested by me on my own Xperia ZR phone and works great without any issues. Make sure you read the instructions very carefully before you start.
Hello people, this is a pre-rooted flashable zip file containing stock 4.3 rom of build number 10.4.B.0.569 built for Xperia ZR phone user's in INDIA.
This rom is rooted. Has no bugs except Sony's official 4.3 bugs. This rom is not modified in any way and nothing has been added or deleted. This is a pure stock rom with the additional privilege of Root access. CWM Recovery has not been added due to issues with offline charging.

1)Downgrade to 4.1.2 stock rom with build 10.1.1.A.1.310 and root it using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit and also install recovery. (Please search for C5502(ZR)_4.1.2_10.1.1.A.1.310(IN) ftf file and doomlord's easy rooting toolkit on XDA. You'll find it very easily so I'm not providing links)
2)Download the 4 files at the link below and when finished join the splitted files using the hjsplit software provided in the download link then Copy SuperSU_fix and C5502_4.3_Stock_INDIAN_Pre-Rooted.zip files to your SD Card.
3)Boot into recovery and first flash the C5502_4.3_Stock_INDIAN_Pre-Rooted.zip and then SuperSU_fix.
4)Pull out battery after step three is finished. Re-insert battery after few seconds. Do not turn on the phone.
5)Flash C5502_10.4.B.0.569_Generic_IN.ftf file using FlashTool with "Exclude- System" marked in the checkbox before flashing it. (Do not forget to mark the exclude "System" before flashing via FlashTool otherwise it will overwrite the zip files we just flashed above)
6)Turn on the phone and Enjoy the INDIAN variant for our Xperia ZR phone.
Please Note:
# If anything goes wrong in the above steps, then flash the complete C5502_10.4.B.0.569_Generic_IN.ftf or the 4.1.2 ftf file using flashtool to boot into a fresh stock rom.
# Your data will be lost. So back it up.
# Do not update busybox at any cost otherwise you'll loose root privileges.

He requested the Indian variant for C5503. But C5503 is not released in India as we do not have 4G yet.
Sony has only released the C5502 version of Xperia ZR.

Yes. You will loose recovery because the zip file doesn't include any recovery. I removed it because if you install it, offline phone charging wont work. If you need recovery you can install it after booting into the rooted rom. Look for threads on xda for compatible 4.3 recovery for our Xperia ZR.

Thank you for your work here. There is some hope for me yet :good:
I am worried about loss of warranty.
Will I lose BRAVIA engine and DRM keys?
What are the risks of not having recovery?

1. If you are are worried of warrenty, and if you are in locked bootloader, then you can flash back the stock ftf, so you will never loose your warrenty.
2. Only if you have unlocked your bootloader, the you will loose your Bravia Engine & DRM keys. If you need to unlock your bootloader & need to retain DRM keys means check this thread to backup. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
3. If you dont have recovery, you cannot flash files & ROMS, Also you can restore back you ROM if you modified you system files, Tweaked, uninstalled Apps or if you face any issue etc and so on....

2. I have not unlocked the bootloader and will not until the expiry of warranty. In our case of ZR with 4.3 ROM, it is a catch-22 situation. I willl not unlock until I have my DRM keys backed up but I cannot back up the keys until I have unlocked because there is no root method with a locked bootloader. (Except for this thread)
3. What we are doing here is flashing right? Do you mean flashing without computer like from within the phone itself? Or multiboot setups? In case something goes bad, can I get back to Sony original ROM without the recovery? I am sorry I could not understand your reply.
Please forgive me. I generally tend to get excited and go ahead and do something and then regret. This looks like the perfect thing for me and I do not want to risk it.
Buddy, seems like you're too new at this stuff. Please read the instructions on the first page very very carefully. Everything is described there in through details. Read it thrice and if you still got any doubts then post message me, I'll help you.
Cheers.

first backup your TA partition (that DRM you said), it's very important. not for now but for future in case something goes wrong with something else.(backing up do no harm)
what we are doing here is flashing a whole system folder through recovery, in case of having recovery you need to be rooted, in case of rooting as for locked bootloader only 4.2.2 ROMS can be easily rooted by vroot with locked bootloader or 4.1.2 with doomlord rooting method with locked bootloader.
after root then you need to install recovery, recovery can be installed with locked bootloader. (no need to flash kernel, however you can always flash a kernel with recovery if you're on unlocked bootloader)
then you need to flash rom through recovery, and flash some other thing relating to 4.3 with flashtool.

OK. I have developed some more understanding of this process now. Things are much more clearer
Once I downgrade to 4.2.x or 4.1.x there are tools to root. THEN I can backup the TA partition. Then I can proceed.
Thanks.

Does anyone tried this on Tablet Z3 LTE already?
Not working
When i tried installing it don't install even though the bat file says it's successfully installed. i used an sgp621 pre-rooted rom created with PRF creator. Now I flashed it and I lost recovery. Any idea how would this work on stock kernel with root permissions?

I tried recreating the PRF (i mistakenly put the installer zip instead of flashable zip). However, i would just like to report that if i use the Windows installer zip, it just won't work though i have proper root and on stock kernel/ROM. SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167 is the firmware. Now i made it worked by creating a flashable rom with your dual recovery on it.
Problem solved - I needed to update to the advanced kernel first.
There is a problem with the TWRP recovery - it is displaying in landscape mode while the device is booting in portrait one. So it doesn't fit the screen and it is not really functional so. Fix it please if possible. Thanks.
P.S. replaced with the file from Z3 phone and it works, but not in fullscreen.
Hi, I asked this already in the q&a but I'm not sure if anyone is keeping an eye on that section so please forgive me for asking in the main thread again:
Can anybody tell me if this recovery will work with cm12?
Thanks.

No.
@[NUT]
thanks a lot for your answer.
Is there any chance you could post the isolated TWRP img file?
This would allow me to install it in FOTA partition.
The cm recovery is such crap ...

Actually, you can simply download and unpack the cpio file yourself. Beware: It is a cpio image and not a disk image.
@[NUT]
thanks again for answering so fast.
I just googled a little bit about how to converrt a cpio archive to a .img file, but that's definitely way over my head (if it's possible at all).
Running a windows machine doesn't seem to help, either.
So thank you very much for your advice, but before i f*** up everything I'll stay with crap cm recovery

Dear NUT,
pls take a look on postNr.10.I have the same problem, can you please fix it?
Thank you!!!
I am stock locked bootloader , which 1 should i choose in CMD??

Is it possible to use this with a locked bootloader AND restored DRM keys? I tried to restore DRM keys with advanced stock kernel... which isnt a kernel (im sure or pretty sure...) but TWRP recovery. And i ended up bricking my tablet. I ended up restoring to stock no drm keys no root yet. I couldnt use Xposed with the current methods of unlock, relock bootloader (using advanced kernel) because I couldnt access recovery. In short im asking is it possible to use this with DRM keys and Xposed under a locked botloader?

Any kind of kernel with recovery or a FOTA kernel replacement is actually a custom kernel solution. You CAN NOT restore DRM/TA when you're running a community kernel or even have something else flashed to the FOTA partition.
I am pretty sure you heard the bell ring, but don't know what rang it...
Restore TA (and with that DRM): flash sony stock kernel and restore the stock FOTA kernel, otherwise your device won't boot and be in a 'soft brick' state.

Where should one unpack it to make TWRP work? I really wish we could have it on CM12, since default CM recovery can't even automatically apply updates. Not even talking about working with exFAT :/

Kernel sources have only recently been released, but I will look at it.
Ok. I have the kernel sources. I will post a build with Dt2w and swipe to sleep plus kexec-hardboot patch (for multirom) for both Z and ZL in the next day or two. No requests for OC or additional governors please. I don't use them, so I'm not interested in implementing them.
This kernel is not compatilable with eXistenZ 2.0 ROM.
Send from my incubator
Err:
NFC stopped
Telephone stopped
Home stopped
What happening?!
EDIT: kernel is not compatilable with eXistenZ 2.0 ROM.
This kernel will only work on stock or stock based LP 5.1.1 [.222] roms. ExistenZ 2.0 is LP 5.0.2 [.454]
Edit: for LP 5.0.2 use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60876221

Thank you for the great job, Just wondering are the DRM & root integrated in the .zip file?
I just flash the boot.img in the .zip and what should I do next to have DRM patch and root? flash the .zip by TWRP or I have to download DRM and supersu separately and flash them?
Thank you!
