Make sure you read the instructions very carefully before you start.

1)Downgrade to 4.1.2 stock rom with build 10.1.1.A.1.310 and root it using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit and also install recovery. (Please search for C5502(ZR)_4.1.2_10.1.1.A.1.310(IN) ftf file and doomlord's easy rooting toolkit on XDA. You'll find it very easily so I'm not providing links)
2)Download the 4 files at the link below and when finished join the splitted files using the hjsplit software provided in the download link then Copy SuperSU_fix and C5502_4.3_Stock_INDIAN_Pre-Rooted.zip files to your SD Card.
3)Boot into recovery and first flash the C5502_4.3_Stock_INDIAN_Pre-Rooted.zip and then SuperSU_fix.
4)Pull out battery after step three is finished. Re-insert battery after few seconds. Do not turn on the phone.
5)Flash C5502_10.4.B.0.569_Generic_IN.ftf file using FlashTool with "Exclude- System" marked in the checkbox before flashing it. (Do not forget to mark the exclude "System" before flashing via FlashTool otherwise it will overwrite the zip files we just flashed above)
6)Turn on the phone and Enjoy the INDIAN variant for our Xperia ZR phone.
Please Note:
# If anything goes wrong in the above steps, then flash the complete C5502_10.4.B.0.569_Generic_IN.ftf or the 4.1.2 ftf file using flashtool to boot into a fresh stock rom.
# Your data will be lost. So back it up.

Don't follow the main thread but download IJskonijn22 's files: https://drive.google.com/folderview?...U0&usp=sharing
1. Dowload All
2. in recovery flash the C5503.....zip then supersu_fix.zip
3. Switch off phone
4. In Flashtool, flash the C5503...ftf but don't forget to exclude 'system'
5. Reboot
The Rom is only Stock but prerooted

He requested the Indian variant for C5503. But C5503 is not released in India as we do not have 4G yet.
Sony has only released the C5502 version of Xperia ZR.

So using this would lead to my recovery being lost, is that correct?

Yes. You will loose recovery because the zip file doesn't include any recovery. I removed it because if you install it, offline phone charging wont work. If you need recovery you can install it after booting into the rooted rom. Look for threads on xda for compatible 4.3 recovery for our Xperia ZR.

Thanks a lot dude

Thank you for your work here. There is some hope for me yet :good:
I am worried about loss of warranty.
Will I lose BRAVIA engine and DRM keys?
What are the risks of not having recovery?

1. If you are are worried of warrenty, and if you are in locked bootloader, then you can flash back the stock ftf, so you will never loose your warrenty.
2. Only if you have unlocked your bootloader, the you will loose your Bravia Engine & DRM keys. If you need to unlock your bootloader & need to retain DRM keys means check this thread to backup. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
3. If you dont have recovery, you cannot flash files & ROMS, Also you can restore back you ROM if you modified you system files, Tweaked, uninstalled Apps or if you face any issue etc and so on....

2. I have not unlocked the bootloader and will not until the expiry of warranty. In our case of ZR with 4.3 ROM, it is a catch-22 situation. I willl not unlock until I have my DRM keys backed up but I cannot back up the keys until I have unlocked because there is no root method with a locked bootloader. (Except for this thread)
3. What we are doing here is flashing right? Do you mean flashing without computer like from within the phone itself? Or multiboot setups? In case something goes bad, can I get back to Sony original ROM without the recovery? I am sorry I could not understand your reply.
Please forgive me. I generally tend to get excited and go ahead and do something and then regret. This looks like the perfect thing for me and I do not want to risk it.

Buddy, seems like you're too new at this stuff. Please read the instructions on the first page very very carefully. Everything is described there in through details. Read it thrice and if you still got any doubts then post message me, I'll help you.
Cheers.

first backup your TA partition (that DRM you said), it's very important. not for now but for future in case something goes wrong with something else.(backing up do no harm)
what we are doing here is flashing a whole system folder through recovery, in case of having recovery you need to be rooted, in case of rooting as for locked bootloader only 4.2.2 ROMS can be easily rooted by vroot with locked bootloader or 4.1.2 with doomlord rooting method with locked bootloader.
after root then you need to install recovery, recovery can be installed with locked bootloader. (no need to flash kernel, however you can always flash a kernel with recovery if you're on unlocked bootloader)
then you need to flash rom through recovery, and flash some other thing relating to 4.3 with flashtool.

OK. I have developed some more understanding of this process now. Things are much more clearer
Once I downgrade to 4.2.x or 4.1.x there are tools to root. THEN I can backup the TA partition. Then I can proceed.
Thanks.

[Tools] Myth Tools for Atrix HD - Update v1.3 (Final version)

Hi guys,
Just want to inform that I will not continue to support this tool anymore since I just bought a new phone due to the requirement of my work.
Thank you all for using and supporting me in making this app.

WARNING: BESURE YOU ARE UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER BEFORE FLASHING/DOWNGRADING FIRMWARE!
It's nearly 11 months since the last update v1.2. Now I will introduce the new version of Myth Tools with a big improvement.
Thanks to all your comments which helps me to complete the features of Myth Tools. All feedbacks are always welcome.
Please read instruction carefully before using. Thank you.
BR,
DK

If you stucks after flashing back to stock rom from custom rom, maybe this method should help you to fix it:
Credit for skeevydude
The fix is simple. Boot into Philz, format the internal sd, set the internal sd mount point to /data/media, reboot, format it again, and done. I'm assuming you don't keep anything important on the internal sd...
The issue is multiuser support in 4.2+ roms screws with our 4.1 stock roms. 4.2+ uses /data/media/0 for the main user's "internal sd" then /data/media/1 then /data/media/2 and so on and so forth for each additional user. You don't have to format, but if you were on Carbon, only changed the mount point, flashed to stock, then later down the line you install CM or Slim, your crap from Carbon will still be there under /data/media/0 and could cause issues with the newer rom.
EDIT:
A format of /data might fix this too, but you'll still have to check and/or change the mount point. The internal sd is stored on /data.

This tool is created by The Myth Team for Motorola Atrix HD
All comments to help improving tools are always welcome!
-----------------------------------------------------------
MAIN PARTS:
1. Installer ADB/FASTBOOT/APKTOOL for AHD (Use for parts below and further modding)
2. Flashing Tools for stock firmwares (compatible with ICS/JB of AT&T, BELL and Mexico AHD;
include options for installing CWM recovery, no needs to care about editing xml any more, just put firmware into our tools and it will do for you)
3. Flashing Recovery
4. Rooting Tools (Motochopper - By Dan Rosenberg; it's combined here to bring the convinience for users after
installing stock firmwares)
5. Unlocking Bootloader Tools (Motopocalypse - By Dan Rosenberg; it's combined here with the same target as
rooting tools but it's necesary for users who want to flash other carrier's firmwares on their AHD)
6. Dowload Motorola USB Driver (Lastest driver)
7. Lockscreen Mod
8. Mod for ADBD Insecure
EXTRA PARTS:
4 Quick reboot Options
------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO USE:
1. For the installer, just select option and it will open a new window, select Install button and it will install adb/fastboot/apktool to your windows. If your windows dont allow to install (due to UAC control), u can select installer in /tools folder and run it under administration mode. With this installer, u dont need sdk-platform anymore to use adb or fastboot. Just need to have JDK and it will run normally.
2. To flash stock firmware, you only have to download stock firmware (*.zip file) and put it in 'firmware' folder then run our tools. Follow its instructions and options to finish the flash process. Dont need to edit xml files and No more worries about failure with RSDLite. We have tested all firmwares of AHD (ICS 4.0.4, JB 4.1.1, 4.1.2 of Bell, AT&T, Mexico Retail) with our tools and they worked.
3. Option allows users to install cwm recovery or custom recovery (it's up to users). To flash custom recovery, you can place recovery image (*.img) to 'recovery folder and run the tools.
4,5. This is popular and famous tools by Dan Rosenberg. I think I dont need to explain again
6. This is link for Driver on Motorola site. Just in case you miss it or need to install again.
7. It provides a various theme for lockscreen of stock firmware by modding framework
8. It will mod automatically the boot.img to allow the true adb root with adb command (eg. "adb remount" to full read-write system..). It mainly is useful for stock firmware while custom rom always has.

Thanks for working on this device, it's an amazing tablet i just go root using your method and i want to try your kernel, but unfortunately i've the 311 WiFi only version, so i was wondering if you have plans to release a version for this one. Thank you.
SGP312 kernel?
Any plans to compile a kernel for SGP312?? (US WiFi only version)

I hope this answers your question about the firmware - see attached.
I understand kernel.sin packs ramdisk and some other stuff, but I'm not sure how to to create it...I just got the tablet this morning - US pre-orders shipped only 2 days ago, so I'm not even rooted yet - about to work on that
root doesnt work
root doesnt work, as myself and others reported in the root threads, so I guess no point of making a kernel until we get a working root exploit for US version of XTZ

It's working i've the same build version and i was able to root my device (SGP311). I did the root on Mac OSX 10.8.3 i just changed the adb binary included on the root as many method, followed the instructions and it worked as expected. Also if you are able to root your device after the script finish it's going to reboot the device, after the reboot, reboot again, install SuperSU from PlayStore since the one integrated is not that good.

When I say "root doesnt work" I mean specifically on SGP312, which is US WiFi only version, as already stated. You have a different device, so the fact it runs same build number means nothing to our ability to root different device. This root does *not* work on SGP312, not only myself but others have reported it as well and I have already tried all the suggestions you made such as reinstalling superuser from playstore, and several other things I could think of.

Hi,
I have been using your kernel on my Xperia Z for quite some time now, many thanks ! Is there any chance you can compile this kernel for the UK or EU SGP311 on 344 ?? I think you should have the firmware files already !
Cheers !

You lost me here completely...which "this kernel" are you referring to? I thought you havent made one yet for US WiFi only SGP312 version?
Also, where do I find this "rooting update.zip"? I dont see it in this thread or the root threads....Can it be flashed using stock recovery? Since I dont have root - I dont have CWM.

Here are the two flashable ZIPs:
If you want Superuser app: http://androidsu.com/superuser/
If you want SuperSU app: http://download.chainfire.eu/324/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.30.zip
For Superuser, take "Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip"
It´s one of the easiest things to get root if you have a recovery.

I appreciate you trying to help, but I don't think superuser files are what I need...Don't see how those help me. I don't have a working fastboot on my XTZ, not sure how to fix this and therefore I cannot boot into fastboot mode and flash any images or zips.
Root instructions for SGP312 users (US WiFi only version)
Finally got it done, here are the steps, hope it helps someone:
1. Unlock bootloader using the key from Sony: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
2. Use the root toolkit by Bin4ry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
3. Install kernel with CWM for SGP312 from this thread (at this point the installed superuser denies permission to all apps)
4. Get flashable CWM superuser from here: http://download.clockworkmod.com/superuser/superuser.zip (thanks Koush!)
5. Boot into CWM recovery and flash CWM superuser
6. Run fix permissions in CWM
7. Reboot
All done.

He has 311,and you have 312
I thought the only difference between the 2 is the disk space?(16gig vs 32gig)
So why wouldnt root work?
kernel.sin
@DooMLoRD
I'm on 10.1.C.0.344 also with SGP312 and would like to put in a request for compiling the kernel for this FW.
Here is the kernel.sin
Just a quick question, will the legendary doomKernel hold up to running one of these popular ubuntu ROMs like the one found here?
i.e. is this a "Kernel that supports loop devices" (I don't think the stock FW does..)?
EDIT: I got Linux working on my stock .344 FW/Kernel.
I wish we had more devs for the tablet...development section is pretty lean, we only got like 10 threads there and most of the work is done by doomlord. It's not surprising he's probably too busy to be compiling kernels for all different models

I hate to be the bad news but all those old FXP builds have a high battery drain while on WiFi due to certain wakelocks (mmc1_detect and suspend_backoff), and AFAIK, they have not been fixed.
On the other hand, if you really want a custom ROM, if I were you I'd go for Omnirom or Carbon. Sure they are ROMs based on other developers' work, but I'd stick with ROMs built by developers actually active here on XDA instead of using "official" ROMs, which generally don't get device specific fixes. While ROMs here get bug fixes, "official" builds remain having the same bugs.
I haven't tried the latest FXP builds, but considering the fact that AFAIK, none of those developers actually own a TX, it's hard for them to fix bugs. Besides, why use CM when you can use Omni or Carbon which are packed with WAY more features.
Regarding the fixes, as an example:
updateing said:
Prima module in Sony stock kernel source doesn't even compile...even if we fix the errors, the module won't load. tital6991 used Prima WLAN driver revision 3.2.7.47 in his source, and I replaced my drivers/staging/prima folder with his. Now WiFi works and the battery drain seems nothing wrong. Here's the screenshot:

@tilal6991 and @updateing have fixed this bug faster than the "official" developers.
That's wierd I haven't had any battery life problem, infact I actually think the battery got better with the custom rom :')

Once again.... no, you cannot install custom ROMs on locked bootloaders. If your bootloader is locked, your phone will not boot up with a custom kernel due to unmatching signatures. @amr1406: This applies to any custom ROM; if it's not Stock Based, it will not work. You will be able to flash it, and then get a black screen on boot.
@Virus2o50: It's irresponsible to give instructions that are known will cause problems to users, whether out of malice or because you don't know what you're talking about; especially without providing first a disclaimer.

Stop quoting the entire OP!! It's also rude to request something twice when you don't get an immediate answer. Also, a link was already posted above where ALL the builds can be found, which, if you had opened, would have found that there is also a mirror; instead of waiting for someone to tell you, just get it yourself from the link above.

All I'm saying is that it's unnecessary to quote the entire op, which is quite long. Also, you're looking at the wrong link. Another link was posted where you can find all the FXP ROMs. Just select the phone you have from their list of supported phones and download the version you want, whether it's CM10.1 or CM11.

Does anyone tried this on Tablet Z3 LTE already?
Not working
When i tried installing it don't install even though the bat file says it's successfully installed. i used an sgp621 pre-rooted rom created with PRF creator. Now I flashed it and I lost recovery. Any idea how would this work on stock kernel with root permissions?

I tried recreating the PRF (i mistakenly put the installer zip instead of flashable zip). However, i would just like to report that if i use the Windows installer zip, it just won't work though i have proper root and on stock kernel/ROM. SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167 is the firmware. Now i made it worked by creating a flashable rom with your dual recovery on it.
Problem solved - I needed to update to the advanced kernel first.
There is a problem with the TWRP recovery - it is displaying in landscape mode while the device is booting in portrait one. So it doesn't fit the screen and it is not really functional so. Fix it please if possible. Thanks.
P.S. replaced with the file from Z3 phone and it works, but not in fullscreen.
Hi, I asked this already in the q&a but I'm not sure if anyone is keeping an eye on that section so please forgive me for asking in the main thread again:

thanks a lot for your answer.
Is there any chance you could post the isolated TWRP img file?
This would allow me to install it in FOTA partition.

Actually, you can simply download and unpack the cpio file yourself. Beware: It is a cpio image and not a disk image.
@[NUT]
thanks again for answering so fast.
I just googled a little bit about how to converrt a cpio archive to a .img file, but that's definitely way over my head (if it's possible at all).
Running a windows machine doesn't seem to help, either.
So thank you very much for your advice, but before i f*** up everything I'll stay with crap cm recovery

Dear NUT,
pls take a look on postNr.10.I have the same problem, can you please fix it?
Thank you!!!
I am stock locked bootloader , which 1 should i choose in CMD??

Is it possible to use this with a locked bootloader AND restored DRM keys? I tried to restore DRM keys with advanced stock kernel... which isnt a kernel (im sure or pretty sure...) but TWRP recovery. And i ended up bricking my tablet. I ended up restoring to stock no drm keys no root yet. I couldnt use Xposed with the current methods of unlock, relock bootloader (using advanced kernel) because I couldnt access recovery. In short im asking is it possible to use this with DRM keys and Xposed under a locked botloader?

Is it possible to use this with a locked bootloader AND restored DRM keys? I tried to restore DRM keys with advanced stock kernel... which isnt a kernel (im sure or pretty sure...) but TWRP recovery. And i ended up bricking my tablet. I ended up restoring to stock no drm keys no root yet. I couldnt use Xposed with the current methods of unlock, relock bootloader (using advanced kernel) because I couldnt access recovery. In short im asking is it possible to use this with DRM keys and Xposed under a locked botloader?

Any kind of kernel with recovery or a FOTA kernel replacement is actually a custom kernel solution. You CAN NOT restore DRM/TA when you're running a community kernel or even have something else flashed to the FOTA partition.
I am pretty sure you heard the bell ring, but don't know what rang it...
Restore TA (and with that DRM): flash sony stock kernel and restore the stock FOTA kernel, otherwise your device won't boot and be in a 'soft brick' state.

Actually, you can simply download and unpack the cpio file yourself. Beware: It is a cpio image and not a disk image.

Where should one unpack it to make TWRP work? I really wish we could have it on CM12, since default CM recovery can't even automatically apply updates. Not even talking about working with exFAT :/
