Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini SM-G800F SM-G800H - Qi wreless charging available as option - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini (SM-G800F and SM-G800H) have 2 connectors in back panel left of top-left battery corner - Samsung support reply me that they are for connecting Qi wreless charging receivers:

So adding Qi wireless charging for Galaxy S5 Mini is very easy - we can buy in China any Qi wreless charging receiver with compartible size and place it under back cover for charge phone wirelessly!
Today I have no tested Qi wreless charging receivers for Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and didn't found any compartible in china shops, but I request producing them to some china manufactirers. When I find something available and compartible - I report here.

This contacts just for S-view cover, not for QI-wireless. Galaxy S5 mini haven't possibilities for wireless charging.

I asked Samsung support again and they reply me that S-view cover does not need contacts, but some S-view covers have Qi wireless receivers, so they may use this contacts, here is example for Galaxy S5 full (not mini):

Murz, yes, thank you for info, i hope it is right. I have Original Samsung S-view cover for S5 mini.. photo below. Unfortunately nothing about wireless charging

This is interesting, because Samsung support reply me that S-view cover does not need any contacts for normal working. Maybe in your cover this is fake contacts that do nothing? If this is original cover, you can contact Samsung support and ask what those contacts do in it, here is online support: http://www.samsung.com/ru/consumer/mobile-devices/smart-phones/samsung-galaxy/SM-G800FZBASER-support

Those contacts ARE for the smart cover.. It's some kind of tiny electronic circuit so the phone recognizes the smart cover as "genuine", without them the smart cover would not work. Have tested it personally, put some tape over them, and the smart cover isn't responding when opened/closed.. But maybe they COULD be some sort of combo, so you can have smart cover AND Qi Charging via the same contacts, i don't know.. All i know is that the BIG S5 has MORE contacts in the back under the cover, not just two..

Today I buy this phone and check the contacts. They are for the Smart Cover, not for Qi charging I talk this to Samsung support and they reply that before they do the mistake when tell me that this is for Qi charging. So I will try to connect Qi charger directly to the internal microusb contacts like here:

No, I didn't solve. Those contacts is for S View or maybe for other samsung needs, not for Qi charger
I try to connect QI receiver directly to microusb port like here (in photo is other phone model):
But I broke display when try to open device

Reserved

Although Samsung states the contacts are made for inductive charging, to my eyes they seem to be unexceptionally close to each other. On the other hand, a multimeter reveals that at least one of the pins has electric contact to the battery.
To be honest, I'm startled that the internet apparently provides no easy solution for wireless charging the S5 mini without using a micro-USB adapter (which in my opinion is an unsatisfactory solution) or soldering close to sensitive insides of the device.
Any ideas?

Just jumping in here as I a looking for a wireless solution for an S5 mini.
When I was searching for a receiver I came across this, and in the compatibility list id does say the S5 mini

I have contacted several manufacturers and they all say the S5mini comes without this feature.
We need to find a way to solder one wire on the +5V USB plug (the GND can be found elsewhere).
Someone from assistance can help in how to.

CAUTION !!! CAUTION !!! The coil of the QI reciever produce an AC current, and is a short circuit for the 5V of the USD plug if not properly rectified/isolated by at least one diode. This diode, or bridge of diodes is supposed to be in the coil assembly. So, if you are about doing such a mount, ensure that you are soldering the wires the good sens, and that, in this position, they offer a infinite resistance to the 5V before to engage any contact.

I have not seem Samsung has this product for Note 2 but see lots of 3rd party wireless chargers available on the market. Is there any difference or anything we should watch for such accessary for Note 2? Thanks!

it's about both, you need both the receiver and transmitter for wireless charging.
I investigated wireless charging for a time, but it appears nearly all wireless chargers charge at a particularly slower rate (0.5A). With such a big battery on the Note 2, this leads to pretty crazy charge times. Having said that, there are 'some' chargers which are 1A, like so:

I just bought a 3rd party receiver sticker and charging pad. The receiver sticker is placed beneath the back cover. It works with Samsung charger comes with the phone. When I place my Note 2 on the pad, there is a pop up message saying "Wireless charging - You have placed the device within range. Now charging wirelessly...". I am testing how long it will take to have a complete charge. The initial feeling is that the charging is slower as compared with wired charging with Samsung charger.

Synergy Wireless Charger
Hi Bryan792 and jyan_osu,
Thanks for mentioning Synergy. I'd be more than happy to answer any additional questions anyone has in this forum. Synergy might disrupt the earth's magnetic field when using the Compass, but any receiver module with a magnet could have a similar impact on the earth's magnetic field. If you use the compass regularly, wireless charging may not be for you. Please note that we have not experienced any issues with the Note 2 pen.
For more information about Synergy, please go to Kickstarter.com and search "Synergy".
Thanks again.

S5 Mini SM-G800H: Charger Support vs Galaxy S5 (testing/results)

Hi Folks,
I recently picked up a Galaxy S5 mini for testing as a company handset, and found an interesting issue where it seems to be particularly finicky about the charger used. I haven't seen any discussion about this yet so I figured I'd post my results.
I used the OEM Samsung micro-usb cable where possible (all tests, except yum cha wall charger), and I retested with an oem motorola cable and replicated all results (ie the cable does not make a difference).
I had a Galaxy S5 (full) with me for all the tests, and all these devices charged it correctly.
Galaxy S5 Mini charger compatibility results:
Wall Chargers
Motorola FMP5512A 850mA Works
Samsung ETA0U83EWE (OEM) 1.0A Works
HTC TC U250 1.0A Works
Sprout SACDUSB34AWE 1.0A/2.4A Doesn't Work (both ports)
Yum Cha Doesn't Work
Car Chargers
Motorola CHR-0291 (P513) 950mA Works
Sprout 3.4A Dual USB Universal 1.0A/2.4A Doesn't Work (both ports)
Does anyone have any extra results, or info on why the S5 mini is so particular vs the S5 (full size)?
Galaxy s5 mini SM-G800H charging problems
Hi! I just bought 2 units of the SM-G800H. To my disappointment, I also found out that those won't charge almost with anything other than the wall charger. I used 3 of my car chargers that work fine with my many other phones, and also tried with external batteries with no luck. Also, one of the units seems to have trouble with the GPS not being able to lock in the position frequently. The onl workaraound that I have found is to turn off the phone, connect it to the charger and they turn it back on... it contnues charging but a slow rate. Any help or sugestion regarding this topic will be appreciated.
Finally. I was wondering if the car charger that you mention is this:
Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter micro-USB Rapid Rate
Thanks!!

The Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus are the first devices to hit the market that support it. It's a new standard by Qi. We should see some hitting the market soon. Even Samsung's fast wireless chargers are hard to come by right now. They're still on "Coming Soon" on their store's site.

the nice thing about this one and a couple others are the fact that the phone stands up vertically on it, so you can continue to use your phone easily while it recharges..

The Samsung fast wireless charger has hit their website now. As far as I know, it is the only one I've heard of supporting the fast wireless charging but is going to cost about $70..
That said - the Qi charging spec was updated to include 15W in June of this year. My guess is that you'll be seeing a lost of third party ones popping up soon, and since the new spec is backwards compatible the 5W ones will probably start falling by the wayside...
In the mean time, this is a great stand charger. I have both this one and the CHOETECH Stadium and they work great on my regular S6 Edge.

being on a stand allows you to see and use your phone while it is wireless charging.

this one has a single coil so you have to place the phone in the correct spot, and that its flat. the one in the OP is metal, and stands up, and has 3 coils so presumably it can charge no matter how you place your phone on the stand. otherwise they both charge at the same speed.
I have the same one as the one you linked. it works fine with the note 5. I taped it up to a cheapy stand and it works

I saw one official S10 ad where they specifically mentioned the Galaxy watch. I have read though that a case may affect the charging of another device like a watch or phone.
I have little hope that the S10 will charge the Gear S2 or Gear S2 Classic. There are no wireless chargers that work with the Gear S2 other than the original charger. It's something I've always hated about my Gear S2 Classic. If it actually does work, I'll put it up there as one of the best reasons to buy an S10. Can't tell you how many times I've forgotten that stupid charger and ended up with no way to recharge the watch.
Yes it will work to charge all Galaxy watches. My Samsung rep was in my store the other day with an S10 plus and we tested the watch on the back of the phone and it worked just fine. He said that the coils are optimized to work with a phone or an accessory such as earbuds or a watch.the reason why most wireless chargers don't work for the watch is because the coils are spread out too much and not optimized for the smaller watch.

We tested with the brand new watch and with the s3 frontier. I'll be at an s10 launch event next week. I'll ask for you
Yes. This was addressed and demoed at the keynote.
I have the S10+ and it fails to charge my Classic S2 watch, which is very disappointing. It charges for about 2 seconds and then disconnects. Further research only shows that no one with an S2 watch can charge using the wireless power share.

Right, it won't work. It is S3 watch and up
Tested ok with S10 and S10+ with Galaxy and S3 watches.
with my supcase the wireless charging wont work for buds or watch. phone charges fine tho.
It doesn't work with my Otterbox case either. It would be a nice travel feature if I could drop the Galaxy watch charger but I didn't expect it to work and I don't really want to pull the case just to charge my watch. The phone does charge fine on my dual charger though.

I am charging my Galaxy buds and Gear S3 Frontier just fine with my Galaxy S10. It charges other phones too, even iPhone.
It charges anything Qi compatible..

Sure, but my post you quoted said with an Otterbox case on the phone. It's not supposed to work with a case anyway, and if it does consider it a bonus.
