S-View cover - Huawei Ascend P7

Hi.
How does it works?
Is it use magnetic sensor or just proximity?
Is it requires some additional software or is native function?
Is it in market as product made by Huawei or only third-party hardware?
Or maybe it is just bull...t?

Looks real. I saw images where "the swipe" to answer a call where perfectly aligned in the opening of the cover.
Maybe someone else got one already?

Its real. Magnetic function and it is quite easy to use. The only problem is, if the magnets are too strong, the feature is always on and the case is of no real use.
I ended up cutting the magnets out and using the case normally.
I got mine off amazon in germany here. Can't tell about other countries/manufacturers.

Just got mine today in uae.. it's quiet amazing, it uses both proximity sensor & the magnet in the cover , it doesn't need any software at all

I would recommend this Nillkin S-view cover (add manualy www to this link) .nillkin.com/english/proshow.asp?mid=2&sid=0&tid=0&cid=1&scid=13&id=424 2&page=1 This cover work very god on B133SP01 ROM.,

The Nillkin works great

My current cover is a niklin works great, I got another non niklin cover which works also, I originally got the niklin glitter as the first cover but that has no catch on the side so I got the other covers, make sure you get one with a catch.
I cut a hole out for the notification led as I like to see it flashing if I ever get email, messages, chat etc and is one of my most used things. Too bad none come like that.
Also cut the molding around the buttons to make them more assessible like the other case I got.
I'm wondering what are you guys doing about the lockscreen seeing we are using the s-view? as that disables the lockscreen and hence no widgets and camera access unless we open up the case press power off and on again.

Hi,
The cover uses a magnetic sensor and I've the Huawei's one wich works great.
The only problem with this one is that it stays a little opened, so I have to push it to activate the sensor.
When it's closed, before the screen goes in standby mode, you can see the clock and date and if you swipe, you the weather condition is displayed.
Last thing, when you open it, the screen exits from the sleep mode.

You can get one with a magnetic catch on eBay easily and cheaply enough which is what I did after my first one was like that.
The ones without a catch I found will always do that and it's not worth the hassle of it constantly being slightly open all the time.

Hi guys
For those who have s-view cover: at the end of an incoming call I can't see the "red"' phone so I can close the call.Is there a way or setting to make it appear?

I found out by trial and error that by editing ro.config.huawei_lowwindow in build.prop you can adjust the position of the sview window
#The first value moves the clock left and right
#The second moves the statusbar up and down
#The third crops from left and right (also stretches the clock so dont alter this one much, because it doesnt align with the backround afterwards)
#The fourth moves the album cover and the 2 small dashes _ _ on the bottom up and down.
I bought my case on ebay and the window was never aligned, so now after the edit it fits perfect!
Default value was: 573,274,1078,1350
The value that works for my case is: 533,284,1078,1310
Have fun

Thank you for your solution but
I change the value like you, and after reboot of my P7, default value is back:crying:
Do you know why?
Thank you

You havent change the values at all... When you saved the file, it didnt actually save because you have to mount the partition as rw before you edit the file .

But is the app "mount/system (rw/ro)" enough to mount the partition as rw ?
and what do you mean by remove/del the set_immutable.list: I only copy it, I can't remove or del it.
I use Root Browser
Thank you for your patience

Release of SMSCatcher, with source code. No skins attached...

Thanks to a few people in my FSD Call Capturer thread, I've started thinking about a possible SMS interceptor with a more finger freindly design. I've already got the hard part coded (as in, I can capture the SMS messages) but I have no graphics talent of my own, and I'm not that inventive, so, who wants to give me some ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Source code is in post 41 and post 42.
Id like to see a Full screen contact photo with incoming SMS. Thanks!
Hi L3v5y,
1) if it's posisble disable the system notification.
2) Make an apps who show the sms and 2 or 3 button (Reply, Delete, Close).
I think it's a good idea but you are the dev..
ok here is what i would try to do if i knew how 2
1.Have a pic of the contact shown on the left side of the screen next to the number it came from
2. a scrollable box to show the message received
3. a empty text box at the bottom for quickreply
4. button for dismiss/delete(When clicked would ask if you wish to delete)
5.Button from full reply(in case you want to add pics or clipart)
have it time out after 10 or so sec of screen not being touched
see drawing for a very ruff image of what i'm picturing(keep in mind i'm no graphic artist and did this in about 2min at work using MS paint)
Something like this...?

Great Work Oseven...
Made it with 3 button...
Grodimn :
No text box.... for send mesend message... because where is your keyboard....?????
I Think only for read message and if you click to reply your "normal sms writer are open "
Sorry for my english....
Maybe a combination of Osevens and Grondinms ideas? As in you tap a button to go to the reply screen.
Unfortunately, transperency is difficult to achieve without serious processor usage (that, and I don't know how!)
So, I could do something like that, but it draws a backgound image (customisable, of course) and then has the message icon infront with text. Then, have two or three buttons (reply, delete, mark as read etc) and an auto close function. If the reply is pressed, a screen like Grondinms pops up (although bare in mind there would have to be space for the SIP)
You can disable the SMS notifications under Start->settings->Sounds and Notifiactions, but I could maybe do a config app for that...

Neither. I tried it yesterday and although it's a great app it's just too slow, which is why I suggested what I did as it takes one of the things from it that I liked but won't slow the system as much.

Magnet rotates the screen?

I ran into a slightly odd issue with my X1: I bought a belt carrying case that has a small magnet on the front to keep the flap closed. Well, it seems like bringing the X1 near this magnet causes the screen orientation to change to landscape and back. This wouldn't be a big deal, except that it does this even if the phone is in sleep mode. The result: I put the phone to sleep, put it in the case, the phone comes out of sleep, and the screen rotates. Worse yet, I get a phone call, am taking the phone out of the case, and the screen rotates again.
I did enable the setting that should allow only the power button to wake the phone from sleep, but it's not helping. Any ideas?
I know from some Nokia devices that the slider wakeup is caused by a small magnet. Without it the screen won't turn on. Figured that out when changing the case of my old N80 ...
So I would guess its the same with the Xperia.
Navigate the registry to HKLM>HARDWARE>DEVICEMAP>KEYBD
Create a DWORD entry call "SlideWakeup" with value 0, then reset your device.
Now, your Xperia stays sleeping

Because a reed-contact (the name of the magnetic activated contact) is proximity and so there is no mechanical wearing

I noticed this the other day when putting it into my old Vario II case...rather annoying actually, but at least now, the phone turns itself on when I take it out of the case!

Thanks for the tip, but it resolves the problem only partially. When I get a phone call, the screen wakes up and the screen rotation dance begins... So, is it possible to turn off the slide-out screen rotation completely?
Thanks,CoolRabbitBlue,
Thats saved my X1 from being thrown at the wall. Was really bugging me, that rotate nonsense.
Excellent tip.
I wanna say I thought I heard somewhere that a maget case can render a device with a slider to not work properly or atleast the slider... Is this true?
whatever a magnet case is but ... if teh magnetfield is to strong it surley can disable the slide / rotate feature of the phone.
The maget case is when you have a case that closes with a magnet. I have seen some cheaper slide out phones get ruined with a strong maget case. I currently have one and it too always switches my screen to landscape. I think if its strong enough to do that then its too strong and can cause damage to your x1.
I think Germetic Contact may be used in phone:

Many alarms for doors and windows made with it's device...

This problem seems to be worse using tf3d. I have been unable to answer calls because by the time the rotation dance has finished the call has gone to voicemail.
no slide wakeup does not help because when a call comes on the device has already woken up.
I think my options are:
get a new case without a magnet.
or
find out how to disable the auto rotate on slide open, maybe if I do this I could assign a hotkey for rotation.
or
dump tf3d and go back to spb shell panel - could always answer phone using dedicated button regardless with this, which leads me to think it might be something to do with dialler/phone interface not tf3d?

Actually they now use a "Hall Effect Switch" which does exactly the same function, but without the moving metal contacts. Hall Effect chips are about the size of the head of the match in your picture!
John
I've made an app overnight that let's you use normal rotation when keyboard slideout but don changes orientation when you put in/ out your X1 from magnet case!. So whenever call comes in the screen does NOT rotate when you're taking out your phone from your pocket.
As soon as i'll make cab for it, i'll post link here

Michal
Thanks for the Registry command, I've been wondering why my screen aways goes landscape when I take it out of the case. At least now it won't always go to landscape mode, only during calls, I guess.
To combat the problem of not being able to answer my phone, I started answering the phone with the call button instead of the softkey. Hasn't failed on me yet.

[GUIDE] How to set up a vertical battery widget using Minimalistic Text

I posted the link to this guide in the Homescreen snapshot thread, but I guess it will get better coverage as a separate thread. This guide is courtesy of Notto over @ Xoom Forums.
I've seen many posts by people struggling to get this to work and the common reply to date has been to persevere and it will eventually work. Notto has put together this, his shot at a detailed explanation of how to set up the vertical battery widget using Minimalistic Text with screen shots.
How to set up minimalistic battery widget
Steps
1. Download minamilisticText widget from the market
2. Touch the plus in the top right hand corner of your home screen (the add widget button) and select the 1x5 vertical widget
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. This will take u into the settings screen for the widget. It will always be in vertical screen. Do not change any of the settings, just hit back and go back to the home screen. Make sure the widget appeared. It should show the time in text sideways.
4. Then tap on the widget and go back into settings. (I know this sounds stupid but trust me, changing the settings right away can screw it up)
5. Set up the settings, this is the hard part everyone has trouble with
Name - change it to whatever, I chose BatteryVertical
Background - uncheck show background. This will give it a transparent look
Widget direction - left to right
for the other three under orientation make sure their all the same with center selected
Predetermined layout - select custom
Custom layout
1. First you want to long hold on the three boxes in the first row, one at a time. After selected a trash can will appear, drag and drop and the box will be remove. It should just be one row with nothing in it at this point.
2. Then you want to click on the second button on the right, the green add button, not the plus sign. This will add another row. You want to press this 9 times. This will give you a total of 10 rows. If you want 0% you can add that as well. The only difference is the extra row in this part and then font size.
3. Now you click on the plus sign on the right, this will pull up a menu. Click on the battery section on the bottom. Scroll over to battery level bar 100%. Put this on the top row. Repeat these steps for each of the battery levels. Put one % on each row, descending from the top.
Text style
Normal/Non accented - You want these both the same
Font family - default
Bold/italic - unchecked
Size - 30 for no 0 / 28 with
Case - normal
Color - white, just the default as white as possible
Use system cold - unchecked
Blur ratio - 0
Accented
Font family - default
Bold - checked
Italic - unchecked
Size - 50 without 0. / 48 with
Color - you can use whatever but I use FF118AEB under hex to match the system color as best as possible
Blur- 0
6. Hit save
This is all you need to set up the widget, it works in both landscape and horizontal. Hope this works for all of you.
I can't seem to find my saved preferences

Try setting up the widget on another screen (not Home screen) and then after setting up drag it back to the Home Screen. this seems to work for me as I also couldn't find the widget on the Home Screen after trying to set it up there.
Great job on the GUIDE!
And yes, try setting up the widget on a blank screen and then dragging it to the screen you want.
MT is not optimized for honeycomb yet and can be a bit buggy at times.
Excellent tutorial thank you! Honestly this was bugging me in how to achieve!

[APP] SideSqueeze 2.08 - add squeeze gestures to your Note8!

What is SideSqueeze?
SideSqueeze is an innovative and unique app that uses the barometric pressure sensor in your device to detect squeezes and screen presses. It is compatible only with Samsung Galaxy devices from 2017 onwards, although some people have reported varying degrees of success with Pixel devices.
What It Does
SideSqueeze gives your S8/S9/S10 series Galaxy the ability to respond to squeezes, double squeezes, triple squeezes, quadruple squeezes, long squeezes, and/or inertial squeezes, as well as force presses on the screen. For example, you can double squeeze your phone to activate Google Assistant...or maybe you'd like to quadruple squeeze to toggle auto-rotation. And now with Tasker integration, you can even create elaborate tasks to do just about anything and trigger them with any type of squeeze! SideSqueeze's new modular GUI allows you to pick and choose what you want to do with ease.
Features (not all available in trial version)
7 detectable squeeze types (single, double, triple, quadruple, long, long double-squeeze, and inertial)
3 detectable press types (single, long, and 2-finger)
Independently selectable criteria allow you to assign multiple actions to any trigger type (if lockscreen open, if homescreen open, if camera open, if S-Pen detached, if within 5-seconds of power on, if the phone is ringing, if in-call, or if screen is off)
New app picker to launch any app of your choosing
Tasker integration to launch any task of your choosing
Quick Settings tile to toggle detection engine
Wide selection of common actions, such as flashlight toggling, status bar toggling, etc
Adjustable pressure thresholds
Calibration assistant to customize SideSqueeze to your device's unique characteristics
Efficient detection algorithm that is designed to be as lightweight and low-power as possible with no significant impact on battery life
Questions?
See the in-app Help section for answers to commonly asked questions.
Where do I get it?
SideSqueeze 2 is now available on the Play store!

Interesting concept, but I think it's wrong. It's using the touch screen pressure as it's gauge from what testing and results I could fetch.
Correct me if am wrong but I didn't think devices had a sensor for pressure in the reference made out in this app???...

The app detects squeezes by monitoring the barometric pressure sensor inside your sealed device. An algorithm looks for changes of the proper type and magnitude that correspond to squeezing the sides, and an action is performed. Once you learn how to squeeze it, I find it to be reliable. The FAQ (and video clip) describe how best to do it.
wonderfull app man...i'm tested now and work very well
it will be possible to add own applications?

Thank you! Yes, I'll be adding that soon.
Please add support for Tasker. It would be nice to be able to configure the squeeze on a per app basis.
I wanted to give it a try, but it says that the early access program is currently full
I have expanded the limit, and am working on bug fixes.
Great app! Can you provide us .apk so we can test on other devices? Play Store says app is not compatible with my SGS7.
I tried it and the squeezing is wildly inconsistent. On top of that it activates even when I'm scrolling the screen with one hand. Great concept, but doesn't work very well sorry.

That doesn't sound normal, and I'm not sure why. I'll let you know if I find anything out. What device/OS are you using?
Amazing... impressive how it work well, I have a note 8 and use the app all day long, no bugs until now.
Please make more options, like turn off the screen and shooting selfies on camera.
Does not work for me on [email protected] note 8 with case on.

It will not work with a case on, as the dev said, it detects slight changes within the frame, which would be absorbed by your case, and thus not transmitted to the body of the phone itself

What kind of case?
the adb command "adb shell sh /sdcard/grant" returns a "no such file or directory"
nvm it works now after the update. thanks
I like the idea of it, I'm not facing any trouble when I remove my case and SQUEEZE! However, while using the Stand case for the note 8 (made by Samsung) I can't get it to work.
works with cases, just adjust sensitivity. one thing i noticed is that app gets killed quite easily.i have to constantly relaunch it. other than that, i feel like i have a pixel 2!
thanks

Bottom corner sensitivity

Hi,
I got my P30 Pro couple of days ago, so far everything is pretty smooth, but one thing really bothers me:
The sensitivity of the bottom right corner; I'm using SwiftKey with no dedicated emoji key (=you have to long press the enter key), and 3 times out of 4 it doesn't take the long press.
And my long press duration is 200ms...
Anyone having the same issue??
I think the corners are less sensitive by default to prevent accidental touches. Due to it having a curved screen, it's easy to activate app icons on the bottom left and right with your palm. On my s10 plus, i always accidentally launch apps which are situated in the bottom right. Never had this issue on the p30 pro so i guess it's better this way.

I have an emoji key on SwiftKey.
Look down to the left of space bar.
Maybe it is due to your theme or setup.
Plus when I type stuff it offers emoji too.

7:50 I think we all have the same problem I check it I have less sensitivi on bottom center and it works fine when You turn on in "programer mode" show touch and 1 more option to show data about touch when You turn it on touch start work fine. Can You check it ?
I am having screen sensitivity issues in general with this phone, i am finding i am having to press the home button a few times for it to register sometimes and also when i unlock the phone when i have notifications, i am sometimes having to press the notifications a few times before they open also.
I am using still on firmware .124 so not sure if when i get an update if it will fix that?

I'm on 153 and it's not better
screen sensitivity on my P30 pro is great, even with the tempered glass on.

I posted a similar topic, but got no response. Mine seems to be unresponsive on the bottom left part.

Hi Shaunydub,
Thank you, It's indeed the way i set up my keyboard, but it's done on purpose, I've always used SwiftKey like this and I'm used to it.
But I guess, I will eventually have to switch to the dedicated key...
As far as Emoji suggestions, it's a different option, I have that too

I didn't notice it on the left side as the only long press I'm using is on the right side. But I guess it is the same...
I'm pretty sure it's indeed a software prevention for not activating button while holding the device, but yes my question was more does it bother someone else than me?
I don't remember the version I got from the box but yes updating to 153 didn't change anything for that...

It didn't happen before.... started happening roughly around 2-3 weeks ago, and it's the same on 153.
Does it improve if you disable the feature 'Accidental touches' or whatever it's called. It could be worth a try..

If you're talking about "Mistouch prevention", unfortunately it doesn't help as it's only blocking the screen to be turned on when the proximity sensor detects something like when it's in your pocket.
