Youtube update plays 1440p - Galaxy Tab S General

If you cant wait for the playstore update push.
Totally awesome do a search for awakening new zealand..

Feels a little laggier to me than existing apk. Getting buffering issues didn't have before, even st 720p. YMMV.
Update: Tried it again. Seems better this time. Still not quite as fast as before at any resolution but perfectly acceptable given the benefits.

Worked great on mine. Have to try some more.

Runs without a hiccup for me on my 8.4. Love the awakening video in 1440p. Thanks for the link
Eye of the storm also looks really good in 1440p too.

Runs fantastic here. Instant loads. The video quality is once again amazing!

Am really impressed with the video quality. Have just been watching some movie trailers in 1440p. Stunning!!

Yes. That is more for embedded youtubes than the YouTube player. The YouTube player has never lagged for me, just the embeddeds.

I did a search for 4k movies trailers within the YouTube app. Some of the trailers only let you go up to 1080p for some reason, but a lot of them let you select 1440p.

You need to uninstall YouTube before installing this or 1440 video settings might not stick.

I've installed this YouTube update twice. What seemed to happen if I did not first uninstall YouTube was that it would let me select 1440 but the screen would not stop and restart. I would then check the resolution again and saw my selection had not stuck. Uninstalling YouTube before installing the update fixed that.
May just be my device being weird. Who knows?

I had a similar experience to this before the update, but the 1440p would stick if I chose it. I just couldn't select 1440p on all videos even though the option was there. After the update all is good again.

Thanks,
Not seeing that option on the version I have installed, only have 1080p at the bottom,is this because the video playing doesn't support the resolution

SCR -Screen recording "Root"

Guys for a long time now, we tegra device owners have not been able to record screen videos using screen cast but I found this great app called SCR or screen recorder that should work with our tab .....
I also did a review on the app http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTPbCWFajpc&feature=youtu.be
and the app's link on the play store :
Paid: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iwobanas.screenrecorder.pro
Free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iwobanas.screenrecorder.free
Of course all thanks goes to the app Dev .... ....I'm really not sure where is the Original app thread . of course I'm not the Dev of this app.
EDIT :
It looks like I have not done my homework the tab 2 is not a tegra device I was confused by the tab 10.1 and this im really sorry ----

Lol I just uploaded one teaching people how to rip off candy crush..brilliant app by the dev.
Is it laggy for anyone else? Both in the video and while recording? And it force closes when I try record with something that's not the max resolution. Also, the video is sideways.
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
I have used it before i found this thread and it doesnt lag on 320p on better than medium quality game. ONLY if i use CPU transformation and after i oc cpu to 13?? I can play so well while recording but if i have vsync and androids framerate cap on it lags so much.
GPU+ image transformation mode available on Android 4.3 devices reduces the lag significantly on some devices. Unfortunately it's not possible to port it to pre 4.3 ROMs.
I started a dedicated SCR Screen Recorder thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422061

Chromecast and video files?

I was going to buy this when it first came out but the reviews showed that for local video files, movies that I happened to have on my desktop would result in lag and chopiness framer ate. I was wondering if this is still the situation?

YouTube won't play HD quality with mobile data?

For some reason I can't play HD quality videos on my z1s... It will play on standard quality but once I select HD it errors out and won't load. Is it just me or are you guys having this issue as well? I Tried clearing cache, data, force stopping it. Same thing. I haven't uninstalled the update. Might have to try that next. Any suggestions?
Sent from my C6916
If you have the latest version and is not working then yes, you should uninstall the update and try again with the older one. If the problem persist maybe is the bandwidth of mobile phone weak.
It's YouTube. Uninstall to revert back to the original app and it plays fine.

It's 100% definitely the youtube app and it kind of pisses me off a little too actually because yes like stated already, the older version works fine but the most updated version causes the problem and I'm sorry but on a high end brand new device, I expect to be able to run the latest most brand new updated apps, especially ones as popular as youtube! I just purchased my Z1s but I also own a note 3 and YouTube works fine on that phone. I love my Z1s a lot and realize it's the app and not the phone but youtube needs to issue an update and resolve this issue so their latest version of their app works with all of the latest flagship devices! I've emailed them already about it and still no response even, let alone an update.

my youtube app only shows 720p max, really annoying, I tried the desktop method in chrome but it didn't appear to load, I kept getting loading error message when it played, when the video attempted to play it just froze my browser (chrome)
Found a better method if I want to see 4k video on my note 4 however more long winded, I downloaded tubemate app from amazon app store, this allowed me to download full 4k quality test videos and play them
You can upgrade your YouTube app and view 1440p. Search around for it.

I believe so, You will need to remove the old app to do so which require root.
This is really ticking me off. What's the use of a kickass screen if you can't feed it properly with content?
Fullhd doesn't work on the nexus 7 either
Check this 1080p 60 FPS video! This is waaaay better than 4k at 30 fps if you're not using a tripod. You get MUCH less blur when moving the phone.

No 1440p option for YouTube?

Anyone able to view a 1440p video on their Nexus 6 in YouTube? You can on the LG G3.
I even tried a modified YouTube and it didn't work for 1440p either.
Sweet QHD display we can't use. Probably another DPI issue. Someone with a lower DPI 493 or 480 try it.
