No 1440p option for YouTube? - Nexus 6 Themes and Apps

Anyone able to view a 1440p video on their Nexus 6 in YouTube? You can on the LG G3.
I even tried a modified YouTube and it didn't work for 1440p either.
Sweet QHD display we can't use. Probably another DPI issue. Someone with a lower DPI 493 or 480 try it.

I'm at 493......no go.....

The g3 has the same problem. Its YouTube. 1080p is highest. G3 was able to see it for a while but either the app or something got updated. I'm sure it will come back.

Worked like a charm. Thank you, I wonder why that version isn't on the play store yet.....

Yep works great. I now see 1440p for Youtube videos that have it.
Thanks!

The pre vid ads are the the ones im annoyed with. Used to be able to block with adfree and adaway. Then there was an xposed module for it that was flawless.

That's strange i only get 720p resolution nkt higher.

Xposed does not work on art runtime. So no go on lollipop or nexus 6. Not sure if serious. But on anything pre-lollipop the module is youtube adaway under downloads in the xposed framework apk

[Q] Play 1080p Videos!!

i downloaded a video 1080p but i can't play it smoothly on my phone.. i tried mx player, bs player none of them have worked.. so guys do you have any opinion ?
Why would you play a 1080p video on this phone? Its resolution isn't even big enough to notice the difference between 720p and 1080p.
Anyway, I don't think the CPU isn't powerful enough either to play it.

mirroring the chromecast through "Cast Screen" button

Hey guys, so I was looking to test out mirrorcase app to see if I can get it working on my chromecast (rooted), but then I saw the cast screen button in my drop down notification bar and I tested it and it played both video and sound no problem (I played news using Al JAzeera app and it mirrored perfectly)...I haven't tested it extensively though just like for 5 minutes, but it is AWESOME! I bet it's buggy though....I have provided a screenshot of it in the attached file...
Are cc's still able to be rooted?
Bc if that is tru I am wanting mirroring real bad without buying mirrocast stick

On Android-L Dev Preview I am getting very bad stuttering audio...
I have tried the audio from within multiple games & the youtube app and its exactly the same so I think that this bug is in Android-L/Chromecast... but it is to be expected as A-LDP is a Preview release & this CC update is just a beta of course.

Youtube update plays 1440p

http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...roid-delivers-number-playlist-related-tweaks/
If you cant wait for the playstore update push.
Totally awesome do a search for awakening new zealand..
Feels a little laggier to me than existing apk. Getting buffering issues didn't have before, even st 720p. YMMV.
Update: Tried it again. Seems better this time. Still not quite as fast as before at any resolution but perfectly acceptable given the benefits.
Worked great on mine. Have to try some more.

Yes. That is more for embedded youtubes than the YouTube player. The YouTube player has never lagged for me, just the embeddeds.

I did a search for 4k movies trailers within the YouTube app. Some of the trailers only let you go up to 1080p for some reason, but a lot of them let you select 1440p.

I've installed this YouTube update twice. What seemed to happen if I did not first uninstall YouTube was that it would let me select 1440 but the screen would not stop and restart. I would then check the resolution again and saw my selection had not stuck. Uninstalling YouTube before installing the update fixed that.
May just be my device being weird. Who knows?

I had a similar experience to this before the update, but the 1440p would stick if I chose it. I just couldn't select 1440p on all videos even though the option was there. After the update all is good again.

Not seeing that option on the version I have installed, only have 1080p at the bottom,is this because the video playing doesn't support the resolution

my youtube app only shows 720p max, really annoying, I tried the desktop method in chrome but it didn't appear to load, I kept getting loading error message when it played, when the video attempted to play it just froze my browser (chrome)
Found a better method if I want to see 4k video on my note 4 however more long winded, I downloaded tubemate app from amazon app store, this allowed me to download full 4k quality test videos and play them
You can upgrade your YouTube app and view 1440p. Search around for it.

I believe so, You will need to remove the old app to do so which require root.
This is really ticking me off. What's the use of a kickass screen if you can't feed it properly with content?
Fullhd doesn't work on the nexus 7 either
Check this 1080p 60 FPS video! This is waaaay better than 4k at 30 fps if you're not using a tripod. You get MUCH less blur when moving the phone.

I had issues with YouTube. Whenever I changed the quality to 720 or 1080, it would buffer so much. I logged in, via Windows machine, to my T-Mobile account and turned off the Binge On.
Turn off binge on.
