[Q] Home Unexpected Closed on Boot - Glass Q&A

Hey all,
Just got a new Glass from work. Whenever I turn it on I get the error "Home unexpectedly closed swipe down to close." I swipe down to remove the message but home continues to crash. So I cannot even use the device, let alone enable adb for my computer to flash a fresh image.
Thoughts? Thanks.
Edit: Completely slipped my mind to put Glass in fastboot. Solved.

[Q] G1 Broken - No Menu - Sorry! Process.com.android.phone is not responding.

Hi,
I searched for threads on this problem and found similar ones but not exactly as my problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871124
I tried getting the Angry Birds app and my phone had a message saying I didn't have enough space. I then started getting the message "Sorry! Process.com.android.phone is not responding. Force Close." I uninstalled some apps, including the app I just downloaded. Rebooted the phone and now I cannot see a menu.
I see a black screen with that message popping up constantly. I can connect my SD card to the computer. I can go into the debug mode. My WiFi is still on with my simcard still working. Still no menu, just a black screen.
I know my phone is rooted. Forgot which firmware. I found a file with update-cm-5.0.8-DS.
I don't want to lose any contacts on this phone. Is there a way I can get them before doing a hard or factory reset? Also, how do I do these resets?
Thanks in advance.
Try booting up in safe mode by holding the menu button while powering up.
If your phone is registered with your google account, your contacts should automatically get saved on that.

[Q] TwLauncher issues

Hi guys,
I am having some very strange issues with my Galaxy i9000.
Its stock, no mods and has a few apps running but they are totally safe ones from the Android store.
Ok the problem....
A few says ago for no apparent reason, my Galaxy started to freeze up. By that I mean all functionality was gone. Touch screen was and is unresponsive, the Home button does not work, and with the exception of the power button its a brick. Even when I hit the Power button and you get the options for flight mode and so on, you cant select an option as the touch screen doesnt work. All I can do is take the battery, sim and ext memory out, wait 30 seconds, and put it all back in and start it up.
All works fine till, just when you think all booted fine and you have service, then a message comes up saying.....
"Application TwLauncher (in process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) is not responding." and you are presented with 2 options.... "Force close" or "Wait".
I have tried both but with no success (Note: this is the only time the touch screen works) and I have searched this and many other sites for a answer but no joy so now I pose the question. What is TwLauncher? and how do I fix this problem?
Any help gratefully welcomed as I have hit the wall and my Galaxy is about to hit it as well unless I get it to work properly.
Cheers
Brett
You might have corrupted sd or it is a kernel problem

Frozen Hero

Hey all about a year ago I bought an evo and boxed up my hero. Recently I decided to pull the hero out so I can root it and toy around a bit. Well when I turn it on it gets to the lock screen and doesn't want to respond to anything I do with the touch screen. Sometimes I can swipe the unlock bar and hit power and power again and it will unlock to my home screen. But most of the time nothing happens.
I've tried a soft reset - menu, phone, power. I've tried recovery from hboot. I've tried removing the battery and powering up hundreds of times. I've tried pressing my task killer widget from the home screen. One time I was able to get to the home screen and got the turn phone off window but it powered down and when I reset same issue.
Before I activated my evo I had no issues with the hero I initially just wanted the bigger screen. I never tried any hacks or rooting it. I stored it in a safe place, never damaged it. I'm shooting blanks now. Very strange.
Anyone have any ideas? Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Where'd you store it? Maybe some extreme temperature or pressure messed it up.
Hard to diagnose since you didn't root it or anything. Probably something inside got messed up. That's all I can figure.

Have you tried pressing Volume Down and Turning it on, then Doing a factory Reset that way? Also Try to Remove the Sdcard and Turning it on...
Good Luck!
Cool thanks for the replies. I'll give the factory reset a try without the SD card when I get home tonight. I've also been using the hero battery as a back up for my evo as they use the same battery. So if all fails I still have that.

Discovered by accident: SAFE MODE

Hello all,
Maybe that will be a bit helpful, I've discovered SAFE MODE.
When I changed back shell in one of mine HTC Raiders, I left protecting tape on side buttons,
what means they were pushed-in all the time during powering up.
I was a bit surprised when watermark SAFE MODE came up in bottom left corner of my screen.
1. Pull battery out the phone.
2. Press power button and in the same time press and hold both volume buttons.
3. Hold both volume buttons down till you will see your home screen.
4. To exit SAFE MODE normally reboot phone.
I do not know what we can do in that mode yet.
But I think is hidden mode.
see screenshots.
Yeah I got this too on my att vivid I am confused as to what this actually is for
Edit: I am also on 4.0.3 ics

I've used Safe Mode on other Android devices to uninstall apps that were causing force close loops (you know, boot the device, app force closes, restarts, force closes, never letting you get past a force close box). All it does is boot the phone without launching third-party apps.

'safe mode'

i have 'safe mode' showing in bottom left of my screen. what on earth is it?
Restart the device
I had accidentally put my EVO 4G LTE into Safe Mode once before, and I can't remember how I did it. It's built directly into Android, but should fix itself by restarting the device.
From what I saw the other day when I did it lol. Just starts system apps and certain servicrs

I don't know about the One, but my N7 will ask to boot into safe mode if you hold "Power Off" for a couple of seconds.
