((SOLVED)) HTC one mini 2 Restore to factory settings with enabled OTA updates - HTC One Mini 2

can any one please share ? i'd like to get the OTAs badly. Rooted my phone, installed custom recovery, now i want to the stock recovery back, also i relocked the bootloader. Will this allow me to get OTAs normally after i flash the stock recovery back ? thanks.
I need version 2.16.401.5, thanks.
i tried flashing with the 2.16.401.1 recovery but getting "signature verify fail", could it be because i installed superuser with TWRP recovery ?If so, how can i fix it ?
EDIT: i guess i did it, forgot to unlock the bootloader, dont know why i locked it again lol, anyways, installed 401.1 recovery and did a factory reset. Is this it ? or do i need to unroot the device with supersu that i have installed and relock the bootloader ? I did not install any custom roms, so the rom is HTC stock, but i installed superuser with TWRP. Will this do any harm ?

Okay i did some research and i FIXED the problem and was able to get OTA update back.
this is what i did:
-Unlocked Bootloader (which i forgot obviosly)
-Installed TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-mini-2/orig-development/recovery-twp-2-7-1-0-one-mini-2-t2801370)
-Downloaded original nandroid backup (thanks to Kativiti) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-mini-2/help/img-rom-ruu-request-t2847860) (nandroid backup: https://mega.co.nz/#!msthgIJB!WF5r4CwkXOg3Xda1YP_ESAKRNeY7AC5jkA_tIW65PwU
-made a recovery to show me where i need to copy the backup on my sdcard to
-copied the backup there and made a restore in TWRP
-then flashed the original bootloader back (thanks to: djluisbento) (thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-mini-2/help/request-original-recovery-img-t2809031) , also make sure you flash the 2.16.401.1 recovery because the nandroid backup is also 2.16.401.1 version. (stock recovery download: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4sLrKlVs0CPMXZMb2FJNGFOdEE&usp=sharing)
-after i did all that stuffs i was able to get the 2.16.401.5 update and it works flawlessly. And to not forget my CID is HTC__032.
Thanks guys for these files and thanks to this forum. You saved me, you are the best. Cant believe i fixed it so easily. May god bless you

[Q] S-ON nandroid restore fails

Hi,
I did the following procedure
1. Unlock bootloader using HTC-dev site.
2. Take nandroid backup of stock ROM.
3. Installed Sabsa prime v15
Now I want to go back to stock ROM.
4. recovery says restore complete of Nandroid backup.
5. I flash boot.img from nandroid backup (I am on S-ON)
6. the phone boots up and directly goes to recovery instead of normal boot.
How can I get back to my stock ROM now?

Yeah, I had to do the same... I downloaded the RUU from htcdev and flashed. But I am not sure why nandroid restore didnt work. Is it because i was on S-ON?
Try this

Sabsa prime Rom has this issue, it doesn't get completely wiped off with factory reset.
In the recovery go to advanced, format /system.
After this restore from CWM. After the restore gets completed, flash the boot.img file from fastboot usb mode.
No, again go to recovery and select reboot.
I hope this will work.

[Q] need some serious help with return to stock

hi all,
sorry to sound like a complete idiot in advance !
I have been trying for over a month now to find some way to return my phone to stock so I can get the new ota update but im just having no luck !
I have tried everything to unroot , relock boot loader, and return to stock, I can successfully unroot, successfully relock the boot loader but cannot update OTA everytime I download the ota and allow the phone to start update process the phone boots into bootlaoder and a new line appears in the normal messages **** security warning*** when this happens I loose recovery and the phone hasn't updated. I then have to re-unlock the bootloader to then flash a recovery.
I cant flash RUU as there isn't an RUU available for me, H3G_001 , I have tried the suggested CWM nandroid backup, but this fails half way through something to do with android_secure
I cant seem to get the phone to successfully grant s-off to try the change cid method, I have tried to do this using HTC one kit by hasoon but no luck,
if anyone could please help it would me much appreciated
regards
okz19
Probably you don't have the stock rom or the recovery, because the secure warning come out when you aren't fully stock..
Look on this site: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/
Mine One works now fine and i have update to the latest OTA.

Is better link to XDA
still stuck!
hi all as you can probably tell form the age of this topic, I have been stuck for a while !!! (11 October ! )
I am still having problems trying to get the new update 2.24.771.3
my phone is carrier locked to three uk
it is unrooted
custom recovery cwm touch
bootloader unlocked / tampered
I understand I need stock recovery and to lock bootloader
I don't have stock rom
my problem is as follows, my phone has been telling me for atleast 4 months now that I have a software update, when I click it it restarts takes me to cwm recovery verifys install then gets stuck on cannot mount data ....
I understand I need to flash stock recovery, I have tried to do this using the "all in one kit" however when I click flash my own recovery, (phone reboots into bootloader) I then proceed to select the stock recovery.img the cmd box then hangs "waiting for device" I am then alerted by my computer that the usb device has malfunctioned. ( I am on windows 8 and have turned of signature verification)
I cannot use the supposed simple method of RUU as there isn't one available for my stupid network!!
I have tried to use a cwm recovery image, this usually starts then spits out android_secure is missing.
yes I do have a hammer ready to hit the phone with, but just before I do this is there ANYONE with any last tips to help me, because ive just about had enough with this stupid phone !
the phone has 24 hours left to live, can you save its life ?
thanks in advance for any help.
1. You cannot install an OTA with a custom recovery.
2. I've encountered a CWM bug having to do with .android_secure. There's a hidden folder in /sdcard that caused it, I don't remember whether this file is ".android_secure" or another. You can probably wipe the sdcard before restoring the backup. If that fails, you can probably manually restore the backup with ADB (this will be hard).
3. If you want to install the custom recovery, boot to the fastboot and use USB to install the recovery. Don't use a toolkit because they're useless when anything goes wrong.

[Q]bootloop after succeeded guru reset and ota update

At first, this is my story:
-HTC One was untouched
-flashed cyanogenmod with the installer (after some connection-issues it worked)
-wanted back to stock and used guru reset (flashed with CWM)
-wanted to update immediately up to the latest version of android
-ota update (from Htc) failed to install and the phone was stuck in a bootloop (at this state, the phone was unlocked and s-on)
(-panicked)...
-flashed CWM via fastboot
-tried to copy a rom (viper) with adb but adb could not see my Htc (but fastboot could! )
-tried to flash viper with sideload but t failed every time i tried at the end
-at least i was able flash cyanogenmod (sideload and fastboot)
-made a nandroid backup (that was stored in "mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup" (root access to see it)
-backup was 1.2Gb big, wen i had 1,2gb free space, it was 1,6Gb big, when there were 1,6Gb of unwritten storage..
so now my questions
1. Why did my it was stuck in bootloop after i tried to update it?
1.1. How can i go back to stock and do ota updates without getting this ee..nice bootloop?
2. Why could adb not see the Htc while fastboot could?
3. Why was the backup stored in the secure path
4. Is more space required for a backup? (used every single bit of my free space both times)
and at least i saw that i have a unusual(?) folder-structure. it is very
do i have ****ed up my folderstructure with adb/fastboot while i did not understand, what i was doing? (so the backups are in the "wrong" path)
that: what confused me:
system(root){mnt\sdcard\( all mediafolders..)
system(root)\mnt\shell\emulated\0\(all mediafolders...)
(legacy folder was in "system/mount/shell/emulated/0/legacy")
system(root)\storage\emulated\legacy\( all mediafolders..)
system(root)\storage\sdcard\(all mediafolders)
why there are so much ways to get to the "normal mediafolders"?
that there are to, because of the splitted internal sdcard ok but..
Thats it
I am very thankful for any help you can give me.
same
I had a very similar issue in which now I stick to CyanogenMod in search of an answer. I had previously used guru rest and ota worked well even up to 4.4.2 sense 5.5, I tried CyanogenMod once more but still missed a few features from stock, I reused guru reset and all went well till the update which seemed good till it started boot loop. The rest was done in panic tho I managed to get CyanogenMod back that's where I'm at. Please any help would be awesome.
Back to stock and ota updates.
Ok now for you and everyone interested.
For going back to Stock Htc Sense and all this stuff, you have to search for a nandroid Backup for your Htc M7. -look for your CID! (s-off is only required if you have to change your CID because you cant find a nandroid for you)
Than just flash the nandroid. (I dont know if you have to or when you need to wipe cache/dalvik..but I would do so for safety)
Next Step: Flash the stock recovery.
Now you are able to get ota updates from HTC.
With the ota update, your root will be lost, so you have to reroot it everytime you made a ota update.. (maybe there are some ways to protect the root)
Please search about this way of getting back to Stock. I am not a pro!
I am not responsible for your messed up phone..
Have a nice flash, everyone.

Maybe because you did not choose the option in guru reset to flash stock recovery, maybe because the guru reset version doesn't match your firmware version.... hard to say without a fastboot getvar all and a link to the guru reset you tried to use.
going back to stock with a RUU, with a guru reset or with a nandroid + stock recovery like you did
ADB only works from booted OS or from custom recovery, not in bootloader (fastboot usb). In bootloader you can only use fastboot commands.
4 and 5) I don't know much about cwm, I'm using twrp.

Twrp dubt

Hi , i want root and install twrp but , can i , after unlock bootloader ,install twrp and root my device restore it later with stock firmware/recovery/rom/bootloader?
And how backup stock fw/bootloader/recovery from my unrooted device?
It's possible. I think you should do this... Before rooting, if you have not already done that, in TWRP, don't allow system modifications when it boots up. Then make a full backup(which is your stock rom unrooted) and save it. Then even after rooting, coming back to stock would just need a reflash in TWRP.

Update b357

Hi,
Today I received ota update to b357 for my nem L51.
Could not install it since I have custom recovery + root + unlocked bootloader.
How can I update?
My idea would be:
Flash stock recovery + recovery2 from fastboot
Install ota
Flash again TWRP
Will it work? Don't know if my bootloader will lock again after ota update...
Thanks in advance
Unroot first, Flash stock boot.img and stock recovery then download ota and reboot.
Thanks shashank1320!
I flashed stock boot + recovery and then updated my phone.
Unfortunately OTA update restored my bootloader and I had to unlock it again.
Anyway after unlocking I flashed TWRP recovery and rooted with Magisk with no issues.

Hi @deframat,
I'm in the same situation as you were: from B350 I have to update to B357 and I will go the same route you did. However, since you stated that the OTA update restored your bootloader, this means you had to install all over again all your apps and settings. I wonder if I make a Titanium backup of everything, will I be able to restore the phone as it was before the update? Any drawbacks I'm unaware of?
Thank you
Hi Wallace108,
I don't use Titanium backup because I prefer a fully fresh install when flashing new fw.
Anyway since this update is quite light (only security patch and other small improvements) I think you will have no problem if you restore some backed up apps.
