UK Pre Order Confusion - Galaxy Note 4 General

So those of us who ordered from the Samsung Store before the online ordering was available thinking we would get our phones early have been disappointed as the date has shifted and we missed getting the Free Gear Fit which was for online orders only. Please complain as this seems unfair for us Samsung devoted customers.

The Official N7 News and Updates ONLY

Alright, this forum is getting out of hand. We're all excited to receive our new toys, but the rampant speculation and bickering has got to go.
I don't care if you're a Play Store or brick and mortar establishment customer, or how butt hurt you are that you might not get your N7 first and how much Google is "dropping the ball" - post your rants here (that's certainly what the thread has turned into...). I too would like to be up to date with the release, but I do not want to wade through 5,000 posts to find them.
ITT we post updates only! No speculation on your part, just a simple link to a website (I don't care what the Google, Office Depot, or GameStop CS person told you, or how your best friend knows a guy who knows a guy and you have a totally legit tip) with a one or two sentence summary of the facts if you wish.
To sum up the last day or two:
Yes, UPS is the carrier for Play Store orders, and all deliveries are being shipped two-day
Retail stores will sell the 16 Gig model; 8 Gig exclusive to Play Store for now.
Suspected release date for the first wave was July 12th
The Play Store changed the expected shipping date from 2-3 weeks to 1-2 weeks (also see here).
N7 received 12.6 MB OTA update from 4.1 to 4.1.1. Update includes performance tweaks and installs Google Wallet, as well as search suggestions and pinch notification expansion.
The manufacturing cost is $159.25 for the 8 Gig model and $166.75 for the 16 Gig model.
N7 has a Smart Cover feature.
Office Depot and GameStop were told to hold their inventory until further notice.
N7 may infringe Nokia Patent. See here and here
See what I did there? Just the news, no speculation about it. Feel free to debate the updates in the aforementioned thread, linked once again here. If you think this thread is awesome, great. If you think I'm ruining your fun and excitement, fine. But please don't post any of those comments here. Just the news. Please.

Completely agree except one note... I think they have proved that the N7 does indeed have the ability to turn on and off the screen using a magnet. That is no longer a "may". Thanks for cleaning up the thread though!

Thanks for the update! OP changed.

The Verge claims they picked up a Nexus 7 at Adorama in Manhattan. The store froze sales shortly after the post.

Importing Nexus 5 from USA to India

The Nexus 5 release date is drawing close. One thing we can be sure of is that it would take months for it to release in India. If google prices it right then it would fly off the shelves in no time and then would be out of stock for several days, as was the case with Nexus 4.
With this in my mind I am planning to order it from the US play store as soon as it goes on sale.
I created this thread so that we potential buyers in India can discuss the prospects of importing it.
Currently I can think of using HopShopGo to ship the device from US to India and using HDFC VCC for the play store purchase.
Let us discuss the alternatives and perhaps better methods to import the Nexus 5.

Launch date moved up!

Two websites are reporting the launch date and availability have been moved up from Oct 17th the Sept 26th! I highly doubt I'll have ours in hand by this Friday, but a gut can dream, can't he?
http://www.androidauthority.com/note-4-release-accelerate-iphone-529198/
Has anyone seen an official announcement from Samsung about this new launch date?
That said for south korea
Reading comprehension
Fail
I've actually for three website reports of this now, two mentioning Korea, and one mentioning India, with no confirmation of an accelerated us date yet, however they are supposedly trying to contact Samsung for clarification.

Yeah? I couldn't care if South Korea gets product today - doesn't help me in Canada. ?
Doesn't help me either, but my point of posting was to find out if everyone was getting a more recent launch date, and if anyone had gotten further information. If India is also being moved up, other countries could be moved up as well.
We are seeing a very low key launch here right now. We were actually the first people to preorder yesterday, even though they have been available for preorders since Friday. The only ads we've also seen are the snarky apple comparison ads, which don't really make Samsung look that great, IMHO.
Looks like Samsung have fail. Is this their first time?
This will be my first Samsung phone.
i wanna get mine early. come on samsung announce it for the us early!
Lol so I read the article on gsmarena... Says Samsung moved the launch date up because "The positive reaction from consumers to those two Apple devices prompted us to launch the Note 4 earlier than previously scheduled. Samsung will be aggressive in promoting the Note 4 as it's true that we are being challenged and pressured amid a difficult situation,"
Really Samsung? How could they be so blind? Apple is androids biggest competitor... So apple releases a phablet and Samsung thinks they are going to release the note 4 almost a month later and not lose market share?
With how little of an upgrade the note4 compared to the note3 I know a few that bought the 6+ to just test the waters. With such a small upgrade they should have had this out on launch day to get as many sales as possible.
I have given up thinking Samsung has a strategy and just realized they are not familiar with consumerism... Especially western consumerism. They need to quit making lame ads about Apple and start copying apples marketing strategies while producing top of the line phones.
ATT website states 10-17 .. i have already ordered .. pre-order for ATT was 19th sept.

What I seriously don't get, is on one hand, they say preorders are sold out.. and then on the pther hand, they say they are moving up the launch date to sell more phones.
How do you sell more phones if you are sold out, and if you wanted to sell 15 million of them, why don't you have 15 million to sell?

Add a fellow Canadian I just want "a" release date. I'm banking on getting it the same time the U.S. does.
The articles clearly state that Samsung is focusing on markets where the iPhone has not released yet.
Another buzz killer is the already advertised pre-order rebate. Ends 10/16.
That does not mean western places other than the u.s will not have a slight chance

I would assume even just releasing it to markets the iPhone hasn't reached yet are fairly small. I doubt apple would target small markets over large. So I still stand with another poorly handled launch.
They are making a press announcement tomorrow, so we'll know what the official word is then.

Note 4 In Stores Friday 9/26

Just talked to a guy at the Verizon store. He said they had a Note 4 and a Note Edge in the back. His display guy told him they would be out on the floor on Friday and they would have a full demo Gear VR set up too, but he did not know when on that.
for verizon? i'm calling BS. reps don't know what they're talking about typically. the 9/26 date is for south korea, not north america.
edit: do you mean for purchase, or to check out on display?
Respectfully, Mega BS.
I think he meant display.
Sent from the TermiNOTEr 2! ?
Please look through just this forum for evidence that store employees are the least reliable sources of info and are usually the LAST to know anything.
BS, I work for a carrier and we only receive the phones maximum 1 day before official launch. For the Iphone we didn't even have an official price/date till 2 days before launch.
Yea. Sorry, but this is BS
It may not be; I was at best buy a few days ago, and there was a regional sls mgr from samsung in their "Samsung lifestyle" store; he said that DEFINITELY several stores will have models ON DISPLAY, but NOT for sale this Friday, so that most likely will be the case.
I didn't ask him when they would start actually SELLING them though
Just got a new job at another Verizon indirect, I'll let you guys know

I never said anything about having boxes of phones out for sale on Friday. I said he had a (singular) Note 4 and Edge in the back that would be on display on Friday and that was told to him by the guy who is supposed to come in and set up the display. The day the phones go on sale has not changed, 10/23.

Surely , this can be discussed amicably in this thread:

Note 4

Samsung has already started to sell the phone Galaxy Note 4 in South Korea this week, where the talk reports that there are 30 000 copies have been sold entirely through telecommunication companies there and with the spread of the phone confirmed some buyers that there is a defect-manufacturing in the phone is in the gap between the framework of the device and the screen ( See image to understand the problem).
So far there is no evidence

I just came back from a Best Buy store here in the US and there was no gap at all in the model that I was playing with in the store. I have a feeling this is one of those things that a small amount of phones might have but not the majority.
This topic has a terrible title.
Terrible title and there's already a thread already about this gap thingy.
