I am actually happy that unlike my old ****ty Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, my brand new Moto G (2nd Gen) doesn't lag.

I've used GPS and PowerAmp (several times) with flawless performance, also running Next Laugher 3D, a power hungry launcher, with no problems..
Its all about what apps. one is running..some are more compatable with a particular device than others..

"Praise Jah" YOU people.!

My Moto G gets really laggy when charging and using snapchat at the same time. That's pretty much weird. :/

Only thing I have noticed is that when using certain apps and going back to the home screen...sometimes it takes a few (2-5) seconds for my home screen icons to show up. (Use Nova Launcher on every device)
I also have a 2013 moto g, a LG L9, and a cheap BLU phone...all with 1gig of RAM and none of them display this same issue.

My next
Moto G 2014 will be my next smartphone.
(coming from a fake mobilen (i8160 Galaxy Ace 2))

It's got some RAM managing problems I guess. I can't play Clash of Clans while listening to Spotify (music stops) for example.
Or the launcher refresh. I've got an htc one X with the same amount of RAM and that never happened to me. Wish they'll fix it, or that custom roms will.

This. I've got some weird issues as well that I never had with my S3, which also has a gig of RAM. Hope lollipop or any other future update fixes this issue!

You can try to change minfree values as you wish, for example:
Code:
echo "2048,3072,11520,16640,24320,42240" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
I'm quite happy with these values, more multitasking but still not so much lag

You could just give that command from the terminal emulator on your phone but once you reboot you'll lost the configuration.
I made a script for SManager ( you can find it for free on the play store ) in order to run the command at each boot, it's in the attachment.
To configure it open the app, select the script from your storage and toggle "Su" and "Boot" as in the screenshot below. Of course root permissions are needed.
PS: I also managed to enable init.d support in stock rom in order to avoid using another app, but that command is not run ( or something else restores the default configuration after it runs ). Don't know why

Ever since I changed my runtime to ART the hangup and lag have been becoming more of an issue to me. I own both the original and 2014 version of Moto G and I can say the former has a better hold on multitasking with the same exact apps that I have installed on my 2014 version. I'm still giving Motorola the benefit of the doubt though until they push the 5.0 update which I am hoping will bring better experience on the 2014 version.

Status LED
Oh Great!
yeah, here's the first one:
I saw on different pictures just left to the upper speaker several... let's say "spots".. in the display. I suppose one is for the brightness regulation and the others? For what they are? Would be amazing if one of these spots is a Status LED! Could you come up with this info?
thanks!

probably proximity senzor, I dont think it has led indicator.
test battery life with sync and all apps and backround services, debugging etc off.
tet standby over a night with 3g and 2g.
then test heavy sufing with opera mini and standard browser on lowest and hight brightness
Yeah battery is important.
real life performance
Hi
I would be interested to know how smooth the optimus 2x would be after one day of usage and without using an application killer.
from my experience with the Galaxy S, the phone is quite smooth at boot time, but after sometime of usage where you would open and exit apps, the phone would get really laggy and even unusable to the extent that you have to reboot. People resort to using task killers to improve the phone performance which negates the purpose behind the android OS as it is designed to run at the same speed irrespective of whether you have 200 mb of free ram or 40 mb of free ram
So is this same with the optimus 2X or is the smooth experience persistent
Thanks
sadly .. its only the proximity sensor and nothing else .. digged into the menus and could not find anything about notification led

It's fault of Froyo not the Phone i think. There is multi task but no chance to close apps. With gingerbread update it will be better i think.
BATTERY ?
Does it play divx/xvid/mkv out of the box? and in 1080p?
If not, does any market app like vplayer or rockplayer solve it?
could you tell me if the LG flavour of Android includes the original News and weather widget?

Lag is a software problem not a hardware problem. The question is whether its a problem pertinent to the Android system itself or the vendor specific add-ons (bloatware) that each vendor adds (Touchwiz, htc sense, etc)

I picked the phone up about a week ago.. Here's what I can tell you about the performance over time.
Immediately after a reboot it runs like a dreams.. even after a couple days its fine. I ended up having to reboot today because it was starting to get pretty laggy. But like rouvax said, i believe thats an OS problem, not a phone problem.

The phone comes with an app called CarHome (one of google's apps i believe), which after looking at the battery usage is an energy hog. After killing that, and some of the other bloatware that comes on it, the phone will last me a day or so of light usage with wifi constantly on. Playing a lot of games will obviously drain the battery, down to about 8-10 hrs from what i've noticed, I haven't tested it extensively for exact numbers

Hi!
One thing that would be nice to is if there is a widget to enable/disable mobile data connection.
What I mean is the widget "mobile" that (mostly?) HTC devices have.
Maybe the 2X/Speed has one under "LG Widgets".
Here are some screenshots of what I mean:

Hi,
Does the 2x support USB OTG or USB host, i.e. is it possible to access an external USB storage? Would be great to stream media from an external hard drive via DLNA or HDMI. A micro-SD card is too small for a feature-length 1080p movie.
Thanks
- Does it have a good and loud speaker function so it can be used in a car (as navigation)?
- Can de LG launcher be disabled in favor of the stock android launcher?

Xposed causing lagginess on X?

I ask this because I had it on my S4 and it actually made it laggier and less responsive, so I don't want to go through the trouble of putting it on the X and having the same issue.

Lag? On an X? LOL. Good one!
Sent from my Moto X cellular telephone...
I'm running GravityBox, GoogleOfflineVoice, TriggerIntent, and Android Tuner. No lag here. Never noticed it.
Actually it was the Touchwiz.

It does add some lag. Comparing my X (rooted with Xposed/GravityBox/Moto Tether/Greenify/YouTubeAdAway) to my sister's completely stock X, my phone will encounter a random stutter from time to time. However, I'm a far more intensive user so I have more apps, which are generally more resource intensive as well, open on my phone. Battery life hasn't suffered though.
Cool thanks guys. Decided to go for it and so far so good. Damn this phone is great!
What XPosed and Gravity tweaks are your favorites for Moto X?
Xposed modules: GravityBox, Moto Tether
GravityBox: I use PIE controls (which are limited) and hide the nav bar to give me more screen.

Swap for moto g LTE

Aside from an LTE radio the other big addition to the Moto G LTE is the sdcard slot. Unfortunately we were not given any more ram,
but after searching XDA I found a script for adding swap via the sdcard the works on the stock Moto G LTE rom after a few additions.
I did this on x1045 but it should work on all models.
1. Root your phone, easiest way is to flash from a custom recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/progress-twrp-2-7-1-0-source-t2807585
2. Install busy box from the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en
3. Enable int.d scripts, I used this app from the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androguide.universal.init.d&hl=en
4. Install a script runner, I used this one from the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=os.tools.scriptmanager&hl=en
5. You should have all you need to follow defiant07's thread for running their script to add swap:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359182
6. After a reboot I used Terminal Emulator to check if swap was actual activated via
Code:
free
you should see numbers in the swap row, if it's all zeros then it didn't work.

I would be interested to know real world experience with this setup. I have never liked RAM swap (SD degradation, battery life, heat, etc) and would always use it as a last resort. The only issue with RAM i have had with Moto G LTE (i had Moto G before) was the aggressive minfree values. Decreased it from 48,60,72,84,96,120 MB to 10,20,27,50,58,66 MB and I have achieved smoother results by increasing the RAM that is available to me.

Looked into it and MinFreeManager from the play store seems ideal. But read up on the app categories before you tinker.
Just reduced the "minfreeram" value to 60mb accross the board... let's see if i notice the difference.
But this is very OT. Start a new thread if you want to discuss further.

What improvements are you seeing? my moto go will shut down navigation, beyondpod playback, google music if hit home or start anything else. I ran the script and used the authors minfree values and dont notice any improvement.
I see vast improvements, with apps being killed much less frequently. before, my Moto g would keep free RAM an around 160MB, resulting in apps being killed just by switching to the launcher. Now I have less free RAM and apps "live" a lot longer.
I used MinFreeManager (don't forget to grant root access) wit the values 8 14 16 29 34 64 and set to apply on boot.
If you don't see improvements, try a different app and check if the values are actually applied. You could also try to lower the values even more. I would advice to leave enough room between the last 2 though.

[Q] Any way to undervolt/underclock Moto X 2014

That's it, do we have any way to achieve undervolt or underclock in a Moto X 2014 (victara)?
I'm asking this, because my phone warms and stay hot when I play any intensive game (like Real Racing 3), it even kill the process of the app sometimes, not to speak about battery when using apps like the one i mentioned already.
Thanks!

Not until we get a custom moto based kernel

Life with 1GB - How to live with 1GB RAM and hunger apps (Facebook)?

Hi guys,
I lived with low memory for a long time. Well, not ever. My first Android phone was a LG Optimus One, with Froyo/GB and 512MB. It was much memory (and useless, because the slow ARMv6 processor couldn't deal with it) compared the other low-end phones. The next phones, LG L3, Xperia Tipo, had the same memory size. Then I arrived to Moto G (falcon) times. Great specs (2013) to low-end devices. Revolution!
Three years ago we had JB and KK. Low system memory consumption. Facebook and Facebook Messenger was a single app. Whatsapp was lightweight. And 2GB phones was only for flagships.
Well, we come to today. Facebook alone eat more RAM than ever without Messenger. Whatsapp makes more and more things, and it occupies more memory. And Moto's LP and MM are heavy, much heavy. After some time trying to keep stock firmware, I wipped it and flashed XOSP, things are better, but not as desired.
Then, I ask you: how to live today with 1GB RAM? My Moto G 2014 "freezes" frequently. Multitasking is a dream. And Pokémon Go requires 2GB RAM devices (and crash sometimes because low RAM). Is there a hope? ZRAM? LMK? A lightweight custom ROM? Maybe an custom ROM compiled to optimize code size (using LTO?)?
Sorry by the sad mode. And terrifying english.
Hey,
i tested around with some custom roms, cause i had the same problems with the stock rom.
Finally i'm happy with this Turbo ROM ★ Layers ★ DUI [06/04/16][OFFICIAL] Custom Rom. I also flashed decipher as kernel. (not MPB) and installed greenify donate and l speed with the settings of amol amrit. Just deactivated the zram, cause Pokemon Go runs a bit better.
My G 2 feels like a new middleclass smartphone1!
Sorry bad english!
