[Q] Note 4 Does Not Have Humidity and Temperature Sensors Anymore? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

From what I can tell the Note 4 is not equipped with humidity and temperature sensors anymore - unlike the Note 3.
Can anyone confirm?

Note 4 only has a barometer.
I know...I'm pissed that the temp and humidity sensors were taken out. I'm sure for good reasons though. To make room for......

Can someone with a Note 4 install Weather Station from the Play Store and post a screenshot in order to see how it really looks compared to the Note 3... Please... thanks!

Never used the humidity sensor but on my note 3, the temp sensor was terribly inaccurate. I swear it spent more time reading the temp of the device and not the air.

I was also quite disappointed to find the that temp. and humidity sensors had been omitted. I used to have widgets on my Note 3 homescreen that displayed each (updating at a 10 minute interval IIRC). My first thought after confirming that I wasn't just missing something: "What the...? Now how am I supposed to keep the humidity situation inside my pockets under control?!" ...:silly:
For real though, I did find those sensors to be quite useful... when I left phone on a table inside my apartment for a bit. Particularly humidity, which I do try to make sure is between 40-60% (for the sake/longevity of the computer components & electronics that my place is pretty much filled with )

I see that it's on my Note 4 as well...thanks. How is anyone not seeing that both sensors are included?

Hello.
I am very sorry to say that, but GSMarena confirms that newer phones don't only have advantages. Only S2 and Note 3 were just 100% improving. Newer phones have less features.

New Nexus 4 Benchmarks from Anandtech show huge improvement!

ohsocreamy said:
As we know Anandtech published Nexus 4 benchmarks which show the phone underperforming significantly compared to its sister Optimus G. It appears they have since re-run the GLBenchmark tests and achieved much higher scores (in-line with the Optimus G) which they have not yet published.
You can analyse the full results here:
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?benchmark=glpro25&D=Google+Nexus+4&testgroup=overall
Here is a brief summary of the main differences. They are very significant and the phone appears to perform as expected.

I agree, hopefully whatever changed to get these better results also will result in better battery life too.
Can't wait to hear what went wrong with the original results, and if the thermal throttling is going to become an issue.
Come on anandtech release an explanation already!!!

+1
Although the new test suggests that the thermal throttling issues have ceased - meaning the CPU usage is more efficient and this should translate into big gains for battery life - I would like to see this confirmed.
Would shut a number of people up.

That assumption could've been incorrect though as they are not a copy paste phone, definitely copy/paste hardware, but in theory the design could've been altered enough to be fatal for the thermals.
I was more going after the way they actually failed to properly document it.
For those of you who like me were wondering why these results were attributed to anand :
Click on the blue link for the test in question and it will bring up a list of logged tests. If you look on the right some are linked to anandtech's own GLBenchmark account.

Assuming he didn't run those benchmarks with the Nexus 4 stuck in a freezer, that's really good news indeed. Hope the battery life will also see an improvement to get on par with Optimus G.

Anyway, thanks OP. Good to know that the n4 is performing up to spec.
just wow!
What is interesting are Benchmarks Anandtech released were done on November first, a day before this preview they released on the second, and some numbers match and others are vastly different. I am curious as to why this review was posted when it would seem obvious that something else was at issue and numbers from their own run the day before are skewed.

My Google Play Edition s4 is SOOO much better than my N5

I have had my N5 for a week now and its back in the box and the Play S4 takes its place, nothing about the N5 is any better than the S4 in fact its worse in available screen size, notification lights don't work and its so slippery I already dropped it twice, and the camera sucks asss, is this really the Google Flagship, I think not!!!!!!!! Not to mention the fact that the S4 has removable battery and SDcard

I had to pee today after I drank coffee, and then I had some toast. Today is a good day.
heres your answer
The screen sizes are identical but Google uses the bottom portion for its on screen controls so the screen area ends up being about 3/8" shorter than the S4, just saying that's all, maybe not everyone realises
So you think a $600 is better than a $300 phone? okay...

[MOD] Easy fix for muffled speaker in landscape orientation

Are you one of the 50% of users experiencing problems with muffled speaker sound while using the Nexus 5 in landscape mode? I've been working on a fix and think I've finally perfected it.
Rotate the device 180 degrees! The speaker ends up fitting in between your fingers instead of up against your palm, resulting in zero muffling. Added bonus: the volume buttons are at the top, easily accessible with your right index finger.
For the other 50% of users who are not experiencing this problem, do NOT (I can't stress this enough) rotate the device 180 degrees. I am not responsible for decreased speaker volume for any users who fail to use this mod properly.

Root is not required, but it helps.
Rotate 180 degrees along the Z axis.
When facing your screen, left-right is X axis, up-down is Y axis, Z axis protrudes from the screen.
I should make my own guide with this info and ask for it to be stickied.

Backwards compatibility guaranteed with all versions of Android, iOS, Ubuntu and anything else you can flash your toaster with.
I would expect a 3dB improvement to volume toggle rattle but need to see 3 pages of test shots and a video in someone's back garden to be sure about any benefit to the camera
What kind of benchmark scores does this produce in antutu or quadrant?
One would expect a similar improvement to microphone sensitivity.
However in this inverted configuration the N5 now responds only to commands ending in elgooG KO

Initial tests suggest that mic sensitivity suffers on the rotated N5, due to the mic now being covered. Unfortunately, reverting the mod is not trivial. If anyone knows how to convert degrees to radians please PM me. Once I figure it out, I'll issue a hotfix.

Performance - the best QHD resolution phone I tested so far. Smoothness 95% as they is still slightly 3 seconds delay opening recent apps, the briefing add on is not well done especially the open effect, it is not pull out but jump out. Hmm... sometimes they is still slightly jittering when minimise apps and also during scrolling 2nd apps under multi window.
Real Camera - extremely awesome, I believe the best so far in day light, night shoot wise second best. Today later will do some comparison with iPhone 6 plus. The taken time is extremely fast, no single delay event at night.
Front camera - great for selfie, bright and clear. The wide selfie wise is not as easier to use as promote.
Screen quality - I give 95% as well. If you dimmer down the screen then you will notice they is slightly color shift at bottom part at white background. It is more easier to see the wave on bottom end when you put the phone horizontally and look closer to eye. I check others demo set at Samsung store and all same. Please don't purposely check it if you never seen it. But this is by far much much better than my previous Note 3 AMOLED screen. Beside this, the screen is absolutely awesome! The best AMOLED screen I ever seen and use.
QHD resolution - is this gimmick? Hardly to said, seriously I can't spot any differences compare with FHD. Oops! It is not like HD to FHD that kind of big differences wow!
Battery Life - surprisingly great! At least the SOT is better than Note 3.
Touchwiz UI - the best ever by Samsung. Flat nice design and finally can put folder inside apps drawer everywhere back not like initial release in S5 UI which can't. They is two draw back compare with S5. Why Samsung remove the color selection for folder! Also the new briefing is badly implement compare with S5 one. Beside this please implement way for disable or moving to bottom the S Finder and Quick Connect at notification, it is annoying as sometimes I do accidentally click it when clicking the clear button.
Samsung widget - I love all the Samsung widget, this time all well done with flat look semi transparency especially the main clock weather widget.
Bloatware - I don't find any extra Bloatware this time. Those keep complaining Samsung is bloat shall really go check it out before judge. Also if you use China phone especially Xiaomi then you will know what is really call bloat.
Loud Speaker - far louder and better than Note 3 but put back at real is really a big wrong decision. Why oh why you move from previous great bottom location to real. Now I truly miss my HTC One M8 awesome stereo loud speaker.
IN OVERALL I GIVE SCORES OF 95%.
Some random shoot.
Here some night shoot. All auto mode. I am impress with the result.
More photos coming soon.
Note 4 (wide) vs iPhone 6+ (square) Part 01
- all auto mode with HDR Off.

Sometimes.
This is similar s h it like they did with BP ECG feature...

Then why the hell GW5 users have to wait so long...

But you can actually workaround both ECG and blood pressure obstacles even without buying extra stuff.
It is stupid, however, that semi-pro people, who use it, do it in most cases before official manufacturer. Stupid for manufacturer, to be exact.
I'll actually try to make that sensor to work with being man, but register myself as a woman (mine watch is gonna have new motherboard anyway, so any settings went to trash).

This is NOT it. This isn't skin temperature sensor, but an ordinary temperature sensor behind the battery that is in all watches and android phones to keep batteries from overheating. Galaxy Watch 4 has that info also. Device Info 360 on watch:

lists that as Samsung Thermistor Sensor ID 69656. But you want Samsung Skin Temp Sensor ID 69686 at least that's what my GW5Pro is showing.
Samsung recently published info on the infared skin sensor: https://www.melexis.com/en/news/202...mperature-sensor-for-menstrual-cycle-tracking
Miniature digital infrared thermometer IC in surface-mount technology
Miniature infrared (IR) thermometer IC in surface mount technology with a small 3x3mm footprint for accurate non-contact temperature measurement.

Pretty damn capable skin temperature if you ask me, probs more accurate than any other temperature sensors that are available on Apple Watch Ultra but waiting for Samsung to make use of it is useless especially in countries like Canada.
Their github site lists example code and drivers for this ir skin sensor: https://www.melexis.com/en/documents/documentation/datasheets/datasheet-mlx90632
Unfortunately I'm not a developer, here hoping somebody else could look into this. Actual temperature measurements can be very useful with Galaxy Watch 5.
