How to Root T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

T-Mobile customers who pre-ordered Samsung Galaxy Note 4 seem to be getting it ahead of October 17 launch. T-Mobile is a US carrier and has restrictions like advanced security and locked bootloaders which make it difficult to root a device. It has never been easy to root carrier locked Samsung devices but T-Mobile devices are the most easier to the developers, making it easy to root as it has unlocked bootloaders.

Wrong section. Plus it already exist in right section
NOTE 4

And your statement that TMO has locked bootloader is just wrong. TMO does't have locked bootloaders, unlike some other carriers.

he actually contradicted himself saying T-mobile has locked bootloaders and then stated they have unlocked bootloaders. LOL

This is my first Moto device and I'm not familiar with how to root these. All I know is its a Moto X Verizon exclusive (pig skin edition), I know the SIM is unlocked because I'm using it on At&t. If someone could help me by shooting me the proper links to a tutorial specific to this model phone I would seriously appreciate it. Thanks.

You cannot root it or unlock its bootloader, unfortunately. In the States only the Pure Edition can be unlocked and rooted. Also, it'll likely be a VERY long time until your model gets rooted if it ever does, and if I was a betting man, I'd go all in on its bootloader never getting unlocked. In other words, learn to love it stock because that's probably how it's going to stay.

US Cellular XT1093 can be unlocked, and does Sprint have it yet? If so, it's unlockable. I prefer to say "All variants except Verizon and ATT are unlockable" rather than "Only Pure Edition can be unlocked in the US". Plus it's less words (by one lol).

You're right, my bad. I keep forgetting that USC has it too. Not sure about Sprint.

Will a carrier based Note 8 950F be able to flash a non carrier official firmware?

Long story short. I have purchased a brand new imported UK Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950F. Upon opening the brand new box, I got nothing out of the ordinary. Booted the phone and what do you know? It's locked on Vodafone UK... (it didn't accept my Vodafone RO sim for some reason). Talked with the guy, the guy freaked out because he sent me the wrong device and told me I'll get a phone unlock code within the next 3 days.
After I'll unlock the device, I wonder. Can I flash a normal, non bloated BTU firmware onto the phone over the UK VOD firmware that's currently on it? I adore the device but I ****ing hate being stuck with carrier **** especially knowing that Samsung is slow with updates and it being a carrier based firmware, it will be slower also. On my old S8+ I did the same.. worked like a charm, Knox not tripped, phone was running stock non bloated firmware and to this date is receiving updates normally and is working properly.
I heard that Samsung has decided to region lock the devices from S9 forward (or was it Note 8?) but I'm not worried as I like the UK firmware.
TL;DR: Got a Note 8 UK Vodafone locked phone. Can I flash over the UK VOD firmware, a normal BTU firmware?
I am asking strictly because I heard that the Note 8 might be region locked and that could maybe interfere with my plans.
its not region locked.
Yes, you can!
And I wouldn't worry about the region lock. Because UK and Romania are both EU countries and the region lock is enforced for the greater EU area.
This is what it shows on Eu Region Lock devices.

Do any good ROM's exist for Sprint version of Note 8 N950U?

It seems like everything is for the Exynos version of this phone. Just got my Note 8 today for a steal practically new for only $100, but the software bloat seems horrible. Just curious if there is any Lineage or Samsung based ROM's that would be a good starting place? All the late reviews in 2019 and here in 2020 says to install an aftermarket ROM on it and you got yourself a great device. Phone details below.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 N950USQS7DTA5 on Sprint in New Mexico USA.

The Sprint store did the factory reset for us, but given that I know my way around these devices I thought I would do my own Factory reset and start from scratch. My last Galaxy phone was the original, so I am sure things have changed since then and wanted to double check with XDA before making any mistakes. Phone currently sits 100% stock.
Any advice on a debloated ROM at the least? Or something else would be great too. Google just sends me here and all I seem to see is N950F devices, but I plan to keep on researching before I flash anything on this device, lol. EDIT: Just saw the US carriers Pie thread too for this device, and that seems to offer a pre-debloated rom.
EDIT: My guess is that there isn't much you can do with this device in the way of custom roms?

Your guess would be correct. The phone is bootloader locked that means no roms like N950F version..

Thank you for the information. Yeah I figured that was the case. Oh well, at least there is a debloated Pie rom. Maybe I can do a somewhat decent job of customizing it. But yeah I was hoping for 3rd party kernels and or LineageOS love. At least it's a better phone than the Motorola G6 that it is replacing, lol. Thanks again...

Need some advice.

Hi I have just been gifted a note 8 which is the snapdragon model from the U.S but I'm in the UK. My device is a greatqleue, is there any root method or custom roms for this model. I don't even know if it's a Verizon, sprint or other u.s carrier and far as i can tell it's running the XAA csc and the n950U1UEU7DTC3. Hope some one can help clear some things up.

You have a locked bootloader on the SM-N950U1. No custom roms, kernels, and No TWRP recovery.
You only have root for Android Nougat! No root for Oreo or PIE!
Do a xda search for "safestrap" for putting Oreo or nougat back on using Bootloader version 7 and "Extreme Syndicate" for Nougat ROOT (it doesn't UNLOCKED bootloader)!
They're in the "Note 8 Rom section".

Wow. How come there isn't any root method for newer os and how come bootloader cant be unlocked? For this specific device
There are to many things to consider to answer the "how come" question..lol. There hasn't been an unlocked bootloader on a US Snapdragon device for many many years.

Ah, I understand! Shame really, I know of some "soft" mods that work without root like theming etc but it's a shame. And when I got the dtc3 update I noticed it's still on the March security patch instead of april?

SIM not working on Verizon Pixel 4 XL

I have a Pixel 4 XL which I bought used, it was locked for Verizon and I successfully unlocked it with adb, but it was on Android 12L beta, so I decided to restore it to its original factory firmware using flash.android.com. The flashing was successful, but now the adb method does not work and I cannot use the sim, the phone sees my sim but I cant use it. Also now available the ability to unlock the bootloader.

You are in the same boat as all other Verizon, EE, and other carrier specific Google devices which are both carrier and bootloader locked. You will have to find a way to carrier unlock your device or pay someone to do it. You won't ever have a bootloader unlocked phone, but you may be able to find a paid "service" to carrier unlock it. That's just life on the black/gray market. There is a user @#mcl claiming to have a working method but whether that will work for a Verizon device remains to be seen. Give that method a try and report back.

Hey.
The method works with Verizon as lons as people follow the instructions. I tried the method with Vodafone on Spain and Vivo on Brazil. The phone was from AT&T though.
eSIM wasn't tested but should work as well.
